The level of sycophancy amongst our youths is truly disturbing. |
tosscash1:At the slightest provocation or even non-provocation, hausa almajiris slaughter Igbos in the north. Never in my life have I heard of Igbos or Yorubas killing themselves; all we hear of are cat and dog quarrels and online fights like 2 silly wives married to the same chief. In view of the above, for any Igbo (/Yoruba) man to actually think that Yorubas (/Igbos) are his problem and not the north, such a reasoning is the exact foolishness which the Op is trying to point out. |
Yass! ![]() |
pollmaniac:Lol... na to pack load go Ghana then. ![]() But on a serious note, only a capital slowpoke would believe that Buhari can actually achieve this kind of transformation as a democratic president in a Nigeria. Even if he was a maximum military dictator in the ranks of Idi Amin, he would actually need to be an almighty god to be able to achieve this. |

This is a very fake report originating from the stables of some idiotic blog. The motive behind this concoction is to ridicule the person of GEJ who is peacefully enjoying his forced retirement. |
BushidoBlue:Just like I said earlier, that someone can raise 4-5 million per year for school fees etc, that doesn't mean he can just dip his hands in his pocket and cough out N27 million at an instance. Even a primary school pupil knows the difference between 5 and 27. |
iamrealdeji:That someone can raise 4 or 5 million per year to train his kids abroad, that does not mean he can dip his hands in his wallet and dig out N27 million at an instance to purchase a form. I don't think any normal person needs an explanation for this straight forward logic. |
Validated:So what exactly is your point? That because Buhari has his children abroad or he buys his official cars abroad, then the right thing to do is also to extend that privilege to all Nigerians and crash the nation to zilch in seconds? I thought a more worthy argument should have been about the government banning those pilgrimages and purchase of exotic cars instead of calling for the government to subsidise school fees for the rich? |
maverickdude:The nation is suffering a financial crisis due to a lack of forex; Nigeria is presently suffering from a negative balance of trade with more forex going out than coming in. The CBN and president are struggling to manage this situation by banning all bannable items and subsidising forex for only essentials like fuel, raw materials etc. If only God will open your eyes to see what can happen to a nation if it runs out of forex, you wouldn't be accusing and abusing the CBN and president for trying to rescue your life. WHat are the irrelevant things been subsidised? |
anath:In every society, there are rich and poor people. Unfortunately in Nigeria, we have a battered educational system and every rich person (who can afford it) desires to send their wards to school overseas. With the forex shortage crisis, this implies that it has become more expensive for parents to train their children abroad, however, those who can still afford it can still do by spending some extra cash. The bottom line of the argument on this thread is basically that Buhari should subsidise school fees payment for 'rich' people who have their kids studying abroad and who now find it a bit more expensive to keep up. The big question then is, if Buhari depletes the nation's reserves to subsidise school fees for 'rich' people, do you think this will be a fair policy to the children of tens of millions of average middle class and children of the poor who school in Nigeria? About Buhari having his children studying overseas, the bitter truth is that he has the money; forget the story about Buhari being poor, he may not be as rich as most governors or ministers or state commissioners or oil tycoons, but remember, even his military pension and ex-head of state pension is more than enough to make him a rich and comfortable man who can train his wards overseas. About GEJ's children studying in Nigeria, that's a different ball game cos his kids are still young and in secondary school. Let's wait and see him send his little boy to Federal University Otuoke or UNIPORT before we judge on that. |
Much ado about nothing. Nigerians always work themselves out over non-issues. What is the business of anyone if Dino decided to fly or drive or ride or walk to a hospital? ![]() Is it everything that must be criticised? |
maverickdude:Does the CBN subsidise the FX for importation of cars? The argument here is that the CBN doesnt subsidise dollars at official rate (N197) for school fees payment. |
Much ado about nothing. Buhari obviously wasnt blessed with diplomatic or sugarcoated speech but in all, there is nothing strange about what he said. The country is going through a financial crisis, the CBN is subsidising FX to only importers of essential commodities and individuals paying for school fees abroad is obviously not listed as one of those essentials. So what is strange about what the president said? If the president should subsidise foreign school fees, then he must also subsidise FX rates for all importers including toothpick and then we all sit back and watch Nigeria plunged into economic oblivion when our FX reserves fall to zero because we are all mumus who do not know how to prioritise. Obviously the anger is that his own children study abroad even when he claimed he couldnt afford party nomination forms. But only a mumu will compare N27m at an instance to the money it cost for school fees spread over a period. |
Another silly thread where silly people come to expose their ignorance. When PMB complained about the judiciary slowing down his corruption fight, some mumus claimed he was trying to be a tyrant. If PMB interferes and forces the judiciary to expedite trials, the same mumus will say PMB is being a dictator by interfering with the independence of the judiciary. Now it is the same mumus that are celebrating that no one has been found guilty, even though it is clear that court cases are still ingoing. Sometimes I just wonder if some people were cursed with daftness. |
A lot of people including the Op are just mentioning bad roads they've been through recently. The Abuja Kaduna road is riddled with potholes, but that road should never be listed as a bad road according to Nigerian standards. The benin sagamu road is still bad between ore and sagamu. But it isnt so bad when compared with how the benin to ore section was prior to 2014. If anyone must talk of bad roads, from my own experience, the roads in the SE can make a person run mad; Onitsha-enugu road, PH-Owerri road (between elele and owerri), Aba-Ikot-ekpene (just one not too long stretch) etc. Sometimes you just wonder how most of these roads could have been built by corrupt military men when Nigeria was 'poor,' but several democratic presidents for over a decade enjoying massive oil wealth could not even patch these roads.

These IPOB people and their paranoid mentalities have infested and wrecked this thread as usual with tribal rants. When I read the title and contents of this thread, as a normal person, what I saw was that the governor of a state wants to revive moribund industries in his state, starting from an automobile manufacturing plant to moribund textile mills. What I saw was a governor making efforts to gather rich private investors to revive the economy of his state. Imagine we start producing peogeot 508s in Nigeria and government establishments resume the use of peogeut vehicles as official cars? On the whole, I foresaw a better economy for Nigeria. But obviously, some minds have read a different meaning into this good move; the interpretation is that the northern establishment wants to push INNOSON into into oblivion. And the big question is, WHAT IS WRONG IN THAT? IT'S CALLED COMPETITION!! Life is all about competition, everyone wants to outdo the other person and yes, in business (just like politics), dirty tricks are even allowed. But since some Nigerians are sadly now used to viewing things only from the myopic prism of tribe, ethnicity, region and religion, I would say, if the north is about support their own PAN to compete and push INNOSON out of business, what stops the south from supporting INNOSON to stay in business? But instead, in the usual paranoid and 'we are victim' ways, the IPOB ideology now chooses to blame the north for the failure of SE and other southern power blocks to be proactive. Now what's the solution? I think INNOSON has a lot to do in terms of rebranding, if possible, the company has to go public and they need to need to engage in aggresive marketing. I visited their website a while back and couldn't help but notice glaring typos, c'mon! A lot of rebranding needs to be done to place INNOSON on the right track. When there is competition, instead of blaming unseen witches and wizards and principalities and northerners/westerners, the right thing to do is to work harder. |

PDP, APC and APGA are fighting for a senatorial seat and going by all indications, Umeh (APGA) is likely to win the election. Now Peter Obi (PDP) and Ekwunife (recently APC) are fingered as the brains behind the arrest of Umeh (APGA). Politics can really be messy but interesting. Now the man has been released, may he tell us the real story. |
dammytosh:Yeah but for most cars, it's not exactly as accurate as running the calcs yourself manually. |
Nigeria has been in serious trouble for a long time. I bought a tin of palm fruit concentrate (paste) in London to prepare my banga soup. On reading the label, it clearly stated 'NIGERIAN PALM FRUIT' but the tiny writings at the bottom stated 'made in Ghana.' I wept! |
"Buy Naija To Grow Naija, but BUHARI wants to import grass from Brazil to feed his cows"I think the title of this thread should be modified or else, 'the usual suspects' would interpret the report as I have highlighted above ![]() |
jidestar:Firstly, all the problems we have today (e.g. the tribal conflicts, the northerners abducting underaged girls etc.) have existed long before Buhari came close to Abuja. So trying to attach it on Buhari's presidency is not only foolish, but also an ill thought and lame attempt at politicising an unfortunate situation (because you, just like FFK, hate Buhari). Secondly, the protests we have today are not also new; the protests in Nigeria today are mainly in the south-east and it is driven purely by disgruntled Jonathan supporters who are still pained that their candidate lost an election almost a year ago. The only protests in the north today are by the Shiites who are being maltreated by the rest of the northern establishment and guess what? it did not also start today under Buhari; Shiites have been protesting for ages and even right under the nose of GEJ, they were attacked by the same Nigerian army in 2014 and their leader lost several of his kids. So once again, your dislike for Buhari is purely what drives your judgement and it renders your argument invalid; everything you attack Buhari for and claim that he CAUSED (ranging from the fulani rampage to the protests) were all in existence before he came. |
Nigeria was blessed with abundant human and material resources, but cursed with tribe and religion. |
dammytosh:The mpg figures your car generates are not as accurate as you think. The method by the Op is the most accurate way to measure your average mpg. |
