Not at all, I dont think anybody can be that stupid to agitate for rev kong. Anybody who agitates on any grounds (be it ethnic or regional or religious) if Rev King is killed is an animal who also deserves to be killed; starting from the chief Udo Udeogaranya himself. shocker007: Patching of a bad portion you say? Come on man, Don't tell me you hate him this much. GEJ revamped the whole road man. I dont hate him but I cant stand the irrational hype he gets from his worshipers when in reality, he was just a failure, a pathetic failure especially when considering the revenue he had compared with the past. All over the place we keep hearing strange propaganda about how the man was exceptionally wonderful in road construction and bla bla and I keep wondering how such deceit could sink so deep into the hearts of people even long after elections. I just keep wondering where these roads are becuase when I do a little retrospection, even the much vilified obj completed more roads as I can remember but propaganda has totally swept that fact under the carpet. Oh yes GEJ only fixed a very terrible portion of the road which saves a lot of headache for travellers, he didnt revamp the entire road as you claim because more than half of the road is still bad (i.e. between Ore and sagamu), however, even the useless OBJ completed the dualisation of the asaba to benin road, built a brand new 25km benin bypass (which cuts 2-3hours for travellers by avoiding benin city) and also built a bit of the benin shagamu road stretching almost close to Ore but I dont think he deserves any special praise because he obviously could have done more. So my point is that I find it strange that the very same people who claim obj is an imp are the ones claiming gej is a god for rehabilitating a less than 30km portion of this road. Once again, I do not hate GEJ, rather I am disgusted by the hype. |

I wasnt only referring to you, I was also calling out the numerous folks who have been calling the VP a liar all because they can't comprehend elementary English language. And yes, if you so much agree that the VP wasnt lying, I'm yet to understand what you implied by your first sentence, "I don't really know what VP Osinbajo is saying about GEJ not building any road". The VP clearly said, 'new road' and not 'any road.' And finally, did you really ask what we needed New Road Paths for? You probably never travelled between the east and Lagos before 2003 when there was nothing like the Benin bypass. |

kutchs: Those roads particularly the Benin-Ore road drank the blood during OBJ's time. I remember when Diezani Allison-Madueke as minister of works under OBJ wept on seeing the condition of that road without her principal doing anything. Do I need to remind you that GEJ fixed the road? GEJ fixed a portion of the road, just the same way OBJ fixed a portion of the same road. A large portion of the road is still bad till date, kudos however to GEJ for fixing a really bad portion and saving travellers a lot of headache. It is meaningless however to say GEJ fixed the road and then castigate OBJ at the same time. If you think GEJ is a messiah for fixing that bad portion, I wonder what you will say about OBJ who constructed the benin bypass (brand new, not patching) which cuts off roughly 2-3 hours of benin city traffic for travellers on the same road. The 2015 election propaganda has really distorted the arguments of many to the point of erroneously thinking GEJ is a god and OBJ a devil. |

PhockPhockMan: What do you mean by entirely new roads? has roads become airport that you can build new one? One thing about APC is that they know how to make lies look like truth. Don't you know it's more expensive to reconstruct old road than to build new one. Wait o o, what's the need for this trash from vice president? Trying hard to sound intelligent but you only expose your ignorance. The VP may have made the statement for the sake of politics but every sensible person knows he is not lying at least. And did you just imply it is not possible or sensible to build a new road?... Did you also just say it is cheaper to build a new road than repairing an old bad one?... So if it's cheaper to build a new road, why wouldnt the government just build brand new ones side-by-side instead of patching bad spots on old roads? An example of a new road was the benin bypass built by OBJ which cuts out about 2hrs from the journey of travelers as they avoid the benin city traffic. Jonathan could have built a new road if he actually built the 2nd Niger bridge because that would help travellers completely avoid the mad onitsha traffic. A simple advice, stop exposing your ignorance by trying to insult the VP. |

ahckmedkosy: Babatunde Raji Fashola , Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Works and Housing on Tuesday while unveiling his plans praised the achievements of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Fashola during his first news conference tagged “Setting the Agenda for Delivering Change” said that Goodluck Jonathan has constructed more roads than any president ever in Nigeria.
He also acknowledged that the Transformation in the power sector is above 50 % and that he would try to build on it.
Minister of State for Works, Adebayo Adeyeye, also said that Jonathan’s administration has recorded more success in the provision of motorable roads than any other administration in the history of Nigeria.
Adeyeye, who spoke as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, insisted that the Jonathan administration has made considerable progress in the road sector, more than any of the governments that have administered the country. According to him, the administration in 2011 had about 4,500 kilometres of fairly motorable roads, just as he explained that today the administration has about 25,000 kilometres of very good roads.

People also tell LIES a lot.
The big lie is "market forces". There is no such thing in Nigeria. Hoarding, artificial scarcity, corruption, inefficiency are the determinants of prices.
We need Buhari so that institutions and big individuals start playing by the rules of the market. Trust me, this matter is more than what Buhari can handle. The devils in the system are too much, just like Ubah spoke up, it would require many other powerful Nigerians to come out and speak up more regularly to nip these devils in the bud. The problem is that, it is mainly these 'big men' who should normally speak up that gain from these circumstances, so most of them remain mute. |

Bevista: True. Most Central Bank Governors use rhetorics a lot to drive market sentiments in line with what they want. But the trick is that the market must believe that you have the Will to act if needed. --- I don't know if Ubah's audacious statement is responsible for the sudden appreciation of the Naira, but I do know that it can only affect the Speculative Demand component of the market. The economic fundamentals have not suddenly changed overnight, the 41 de-listed items by CBN still have to source for dollars from the parallel market. If what is driving the rate is a sudden injection of dollars into the market, the question is whether such supply is sustainable week after week to meet demand. --- When speculative demand is discounted, the true exchange rate should be around N250 - N300. Ubah's N200/$ is impossible on a sustained basis. I strongly believe the threat by Ubah influenced this naira appreciation. With the audacity and confidence with which he spoke, and knowing who he is, I think the speculators were simply scared that he may 'spoil' their business. As for the true price of the dollar, I think you are right, the true value when considering the low oil prices and less the activities of speculators should be in the range of N250-N300. |
