I thought one of the primary role of the GCFR is protection of life and property! #hypocrites everywhere. Like I rightly pointed, when the war gets to the phase where the enemy begins to only plant bombs or suicide bombers at soft civilian targets, there is no amount of sophistication or leadership competence that can save such a situation except divine intervention. Oh yes, i criticised GEJ badly, but I never criticised him for being unable to stop suicide bombers blowing up civilian targets; my constant criticism of GEJ was with regards to the terrorists taking over towns and cities for months; my criticism was about soldiers abandoning their weapons and barracks and fleeing into Cameroon because they didnt have the most basic equipments to fight riff raff insurgents; my criticism was about the massive complaints of the soldiers complaining about their welfare packages being diverted by military chiefs but the C-in-C never acknowledged. There is a clear difference. |

This is the most difficult phase of any war against terrorism. Even the most sophisticated militaries in the world can hardly do anything when the enemies disguise, slip into large civilian population and then blow themselves up. Even the almighty world powers such as the USA were never able to complete/win this phase of the war before they ran away from Iraq and Afghanistan.
For all those calling on Buhari's name, you are wasting your time; this phase of the war is beyond any kind of military sophistication or leadership prowess. Only God can help us now. |

porka: The reverse is the case my friend.
APC is not defending, APC is passing the buck.
APC should simply cooperate with the Senate. They should carry these evidence to the Senate and explain their own side.
It is the Senate that is investigating this apparent non-appropriated deductions from Nigeria's account.
APC spent the better part of its opposition years conjuring figures, some as imaginary as it could be.
Together with its friends in some government agencies then, APC brought out outrageous figures on things like petroleum subsidy, "missing" $49.8b from NNPC etc.
The past government did not try to cover up. They set-up investigative panels. The Senate and the House of Representatives also did same. Government officials obeyed the summons. Both the accused the and the accusers met face to face. Some people were arrested and charged to court where necessary. The NNPC "missing" money is still a mystery even with Buhari as the president.
Serious governments don't pass the buck like APC is doing currently.
Running a government is a serious business; than motor park discussion where people are ask to go to elementary school as if that would make people stop asking questions.
Questions have been raised at the Senate sitting. The senators were unanimous in their desire to get to the root of the matter. APC government should cooperate with them.
Who signed the documents and every other issues should be addressed at that level.
Is smack of fraudulent cover-up tactics to attempt to smear your way out of a "fraud" like this.
Jonathan's government signed TSA, ok. Jonathan's government was not in-charge of arbitrary deductions of Nigeria money by private companies. Even if it is N1, Nigerians must ask questions.
If Buhari and his friends are not "stealing" N25B daily, who is? Why did they call for refund of N8.6B from Systemspecs. If Systemspecs' own share of the deal is 50% who gets the other share. Who are the commercial banks.
Let APC government unveil the TSA deal(s) in the interest of transparency. Remove all ambiguity.
If you can celebrate the success of your "New Muhammadu in town", you should be matured enough to acknowledge the Muhammadu's shortcomings. Before you go on and on screaming with your bold letters, may I remind you that this FG has never for once objected to the NASS or the efcc pr whoever it is investigating the TSA contract, nobody is stopping anybody from investigating anything so quit wailing with you large fonts over the issue. The APC has only responded to a silly allegation by some slow brains that Buhari and his friends were stealing N25billion daily. Ordinarily there wouldnt have been a need to respond to such drunk ramblings, but for the sake of genuine Nigerians out there that may be gullible to fall for it, it was necessary to clarify. And in the process of clarifying the facts, it would be inevitable to mention the fact that the contract was even arranged by the past administration. So what buck passing are you exactly yapping about? By the way, regarding the present government's shortcomings, for the mere fact that the FG has put a hold on the payments, asked the contractor to refund the monies collected so far and also invited the parties involved back to the negotiation table, that is a clear sign of a responsible government acknowledging an oversight and quickly doing the needful to get things done right.... If it was the last administration, I can bet my life that instead of urgently doing the needful like is being done now, GEJ and his crew would have been crying about the issues being politically motivated. |

APC under such circumstances has no choice but to defend itself. If you follow the issue logically, the APC is in power currently so they have no need to be attacking; rather it is the opposition PDP that keeps coming up with attacks while apc defends itself. |

lordofjustice: Yes, the previous administration signed the agreement and that administration is implicated in this case but this present government that implemented the TSA without review equally has questions to answer.
GEJ tenure employed some people in DSS which was later disregarded by this same administration. There have been probes upon probes , reviews upon reviews on some actions and inactions of past administration including the current Col Dasuki arm purchase; so the question is: What stopped PMB to review this TSA as he has been probing and reviewing others before going ahead to implement. PMB administration is implicated too. But the moment the info on the huge commissions was brought to PMB's knowledge, he instantly called for the payments to be paused and the monies paid refunded. As we speak, the FG and the parties involved are re-negotiating. Isn't that what anyone should expect from a responsible government?.... There are bound to be oversights and errors, no one is above that; but a responsible government quickly responds when issues of this nature are raised. That is the difference between the present and the past. |

RevDesmondJuju: You think I will accept the 2bn lie?
Do you know how much it cost to operate a 737 flight?
The last time Buhari visited Duara and his precious cows, he took off from Abuja, stopped over at Kaduna before landing at Katsina.
An advance team of 3 helicopters was already waiting for him. He then boarded the presidential chopper to Duara with one military and police helicopters escorting him.
How much do you think all that flying will cost?
Buhari, Osinbanjo and Aisha have used the presidential fleet like cab service since they were sworn in.
It is also on record that one of the first visible orders given as head of state was to order for NGR001 to be fueled for him to go on a thank you tour to Chad and Niamey less than 48hrs of assuming power.
The fact remains that not a week goes by that the Presidential fleet is not being deployed.
Even Obasanjo rides courtesy of the Presidential fleet whenever Buhari sends him to represent nigeria.
The IDP visits by Aisha and Zahra to the NE are not by Aero but with the fleet.
Even the trip to west Germany, the US, India, Ghana and even Atiku's daughters wedding was courtesy of the fleet.
We are yet to mention Osunbade's ceremonial visits.
So if they tell you that they have not spent up to 2bn to which 75% is for offsetting debts then they are lying to your foolish brain. MizMyColi: Thanks for this Reverend.
Obailala will believe anything the government dishes out as long as it suits his narrative.
I saw Garba Shehu wailing at the bad image his boss is being painted. The people who introduced us to the politics of destructive criticism and LIES are now scared of it. They will do what it takes to clandestinely muzzle any and everything that poses a verbal threat to them.
There will be more to come. You don't sow mango and expect to reap corn. This is just the beginning. Hahaha... The minds of Nigerians have been sooooo rapëd by the financial plunder of successive devilish administrations that we no longer know or appreciate the value of a billion Naira, let alone 2 billion. We are now so used to hearing that billions were used for feeding and other sundry expenses, we are now so used to hearing that billions were stolen or misappropriated and we have now certainly lost touch with the value of money because of these poli-thief-cians. However I must point out to you and the others that ignorance is surely a killer disease, but for those who suffer from it, they revel in the false bliss that comes with their ailment and they also attract admirers of like minds. May I put it to you that even if all the planes in the presidential fleet are being flown 4 times a week, for every single week since May 29th, the operating and maintenance cost would not be up to N2billion in 6 months. Just like DemDem and several others have pointed out to you, it is your sole prerogative to believe whatever you want to believe or think whatever you want to think. But that does not change a fact. |

The Presidency said on Tuesday that a little above N2 billion and not N6 billion has so far been expended on maintenance of the presidential fleet between May 2015 and now and that the amount include salaries and repayment of old debts.
In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity expressed frustration at what he described as a fictional report that has caused the government a lot of negative reviews, especially in the online media.
Shehu said: “The government is focused on solving the many major issues our country faces in the areas of the economy, corruption and security; yet, almost every week, the Presidency has to also deal with the distractions which do nothing but distract from the task of government.”
Based on documents he said he requested from the Operational Office of the Presidential Fleet after his attention was drawn to the speculative report, the Presidential spokesperson pointed out that N2.3 billion was released to the Presidential Air Fleet by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation between May and November 2015.
According to him, this includes releases for personnel cost, overhead and capital expenditure out of the N5,190,381,386.00 appropriated for PAF in the 2015 budget.
The documents also showed that N2,127,103,086.66 had so far been expended, leaving a balance of N172,568,912.34 from the amount released.
“However, the sum of N149,062,791.12 was transferred from the PAG’s operation account to the Treasury Single Account, following the President’s recent directive,” Shehu said.
He added that the sum of N23,801,122.17 remains unutilised out of the funds so far released.
During the period from May 31, 2015 till date, the Fleet expended N1,358,910,962.75 to settle outstanding liabilities carried over from last year till May 2015.
Furthermore, N500 million was refunded to the office of the National Security Adviser for financial support rendered to the Fleet prior to the release of funds from the OAGF.
Thus, the Fleet expended N449,081,037.25 within the last months.
This is made up of N98,500,218.00 for operations, N165,373,176.91 on training and N85,500,116.75 on personnel medicals and overhead.
Additionally, N99,715,493.51 was expended on aircraft maintenance, spares and subscription services required for operations.
Shehu said further in the statement: “Any of these documents could have been made available had the newspaper reached out to me or to any one of my colleagues. The damage to the image of government and the good management of the Presidential Air Fleet could have been avoided.”
The Senior Special Assistant also put the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet at 10 and not 14 as cited by that report.
He listed the aircrafts in the inventory in the spirit of openness as transparency instituted by the Buahri administration as made up of: 1. 1× 737 BBJ 2. 1× G550 3. 1×G500 4. 2× Falcon 7X 5. 1× HS 4000 6. 2× Agusta139 7. 2× Agusta 101.

If not for this financial pillagery, there was never a reasonable explanation for the inability of the Nigerian Military to crush Boko Haram within weeks. The evil of a few men allowed Bokoharam to grow into an uncontrollable monster which it is today.
The only time the Nigerian military actually procured arms to fight BH was earlier this year just before the election using the $1bn loan; and we all saw the wonderful effect it had in the war against the insurgence. Meanwhile approximately N1trillion per year had been budgeted to defense consistently for the last 5 years but it all went to personal pockets. Only God himself can jugde some Nigerians. |

The last time I checked, the amount quoted for PMB is just a rough estimate made by a Punch Newspaper journalist. An estimate made by counting the number of aircrafts in the fleet, googling their market value and roughly estimating how much it should cost per year to operate and maintain the planes (which was pegged at I think one-fifth of the market cost of the aircrafts). This wild estimate obviously did not take into consideration that some of the aircrafts have been grounded. easrael: About 5000 years ago, citizens of the great Nation, Israel, disturbed God for a king not appreciating the efforts of Samuel. In his infinite mercies, He granted their wish and gave them ‘Saul’ but at the end of the process was deceit, corruption, covetousness and ruin. A very similar scenery is playing out in our land, Nigeria. A couple of months back, Nigerians were supposedly clamoring for a phantasmagorical change, as they claimed to be tired of the PDP /GEJ led administration. God also did what he knows how to do best and gave them a King according to their request. Much was expected after the swearing in, from the military dictator who became a democratic President hoping that he will repent from his ways, but the reverse seems to be the case as Nigeria as a whole is going from a state of attention to a state of quagmire with the turn of events. DECEIT; During the electioneering period, Mr Muhammadu Buhari and his campaign team promised the expectant Nigerians “heaven on earth”, but its very pitiful that most of these promises have been denied secretly and publicity. Reports emanating from the streets of Nigeria indicates that the youths are highly disgruntled with the leadership of the country. We all wait to see what goes down eventually, Saul deceived the people of the land and tried to deceive God. A very striking comparison! CORRUPTION; During the campaigns, we were made to understand that Muhammadu Buhari was poor enough to borrow his Nomination form, only to declare half of his assets and we were all stunned. Other facts have also left the citizenry applied at this government’s hypocritical nature is the N6.5billion to maintain jets, N20billion REMITA funds, N2.1billion to attend seminars and a host of others. We have also heard about how our Nation is broke and the president is spending heavily. The so-called fight against corruption is nothing to write home about, because on a daily basis, the President is wining and dinning with those who have rob the country of her commonwealth. Saul was also very good at trying to be magnanimously selfish in his dealings and it tells a lot about this present Government. FUEL SCARCITY; The president, who doubles as the Hon Minister for Petroleum Resources has not been able to set up a structure befitting to rid off corruption from the oil sector for the past few months he’s assumed office. The price of fuel has increased to N400 per litre in some states according to reports. BOKO HARAM; In just 6 months, it is highly visible that Nigeria has failed in curbing one of its greatest nemesis: Terrorism. We are gradually loosing our international recognition. The war is not being fought as it ought to, just like it was witnessed with Saul. Saul ended his leadership on a very pitiable note and I fear this government is also moving along that plane. I wait for the David that will kill tens of thousands, kill the Goliaths of our terrorism battle and our fight against the uncircumcised Philistines. Could President Muhammadu Buhari be our modern day Saul whose story was penciled down in the Holy Bible? Time will tell. Owolabi Marvelous is a Lagos based writer.
