If after reading a second time, you still cannot comprehend that I condemned the act, then it's a pity, I have nothing else to tell you. Whynotthetruth: How come your uncontrolled media like saharareporters isn't reporting or seeing boko haram attacks anymore Are you suggesting that they are now blind to the attacks?.... Just like I mentioned above, if you purge yourself of the partisanship for a second, you will realise that what you have just accused SR of does not hold water. Contrary to SR being blind, you are the one who is blind not to see that SR has reported every single one of the attacks. As a simple test to prove you wrong, can you kindly mention a single one of the attacks which SR has not reported?... Please just one example |

dinachi: Only a pathetic fool or embarrasingly naive Igbo man wants Biafra. I will look at the politics and the economics.
Politics. The strength of Nigeria is its diversity, what will be the strength of Biafra? The south-south does not want Biafra. Who will lead Biafra? Nnamdi Kanu is just a noise maker. Which of the foremost Igbo leaders will lead Biafra? Going by what obtained when some state governors asked non-indigenous igbos working in their state to leave, I can authritatively tell you that tribalism will be the order of the day. Bifra will also be a landlocked country.
Economy. This is even worse! The bulk of importers in Nigeria are Igbo, so in the event of Biafra what will be their source of livelihood? The north literarily feeds the country, so how will Biafra feed itself, through importation via Niger-delta Seaports? The cost of living in Biafra will be sky high! It is estimated that at least 60% of Igbos live in other parts of Nigeria, when they all come home in the event of a war tyere will be terrible economic chaos and crime will skyrocket.
Finally, the biafra promoters are only damaging the chances of Igbo to produce the president in 2023 due to their selfish reasons. When the time comes, other tribes will remind the fools about their Biafra dreams. Our people are not intelligent politically. The Biafran protesters are not only spoiling the chances of an Igbo presidency, they are also spoiling the chance of any reasonable Igbo political influence at the national stage. In addition, the thoughtless impulsive pro-Biafran campaigns (especially with the style of IPOB which focuses on spreading hatred) are creating undue problems for the millions of peace loving, politically unconcerned Igbos living and creating wealth all over Nigeria. If other tribes were weary of Igbos before now, just imagine how bad these pro-Biafrans have been making things to be for Igbos living across Nigeria since the GEJ election loss saga... Even the SS is now much more weary of Igbos because of the misguided utterances and actions of some pro-Biafrans who want to forcefully annex some SS groups into Biafra. |

Nigerian politics can really be amusing and annoying at the same time. This is exactly the situation that played out in the Jonathanian era, albeit now in the opposite direction.
I remember just last year when Boko haram would overrun a town and seize control, mainstream media was barred from reporting such stories however only uncontrolled media houses like saharareporters kept reporting such events. The former administration and their hoard of supporters were always on the hot seat denying the stories and heaping all sorts of allegations on sahara reporters, BBC, Aljazeera, CNN and APC as being boko haram sympathisers because they dared to report the facts as it was against the government's wish. The irony of all the denials then was that few days later, all the newspapers and news stations will then be awash with stories of the Nigerian army gallantly re-capturing a town which they denied was ever captured.
Today the exact reverse is the case, some unfortunate incident happens, the army denies, the APC government denies, the APC supporters deny and the Jonathanians fault all the denials... and then a day later, the army which hitherto denied that anyone was lost will turn around and claim that the lost soldiers have returned gallantly... and then the jonathanians will revel and sing 'we told you'
Nigerian brand of politics and patriotism is sickening. Politics should never be played with security issues. |

Candybob: Well GEJ did not pay me to defend him, so i wont sweat myself to defend him. But everyone has priorities and choices to make! GEJs team chose to defend the falling Naira at the expense of keeping a reserve. Did it work? NO! But a choice had to be made, and they made their choice. When you get there, that is if that is your desire, make your own choice too!
FYI: I am not a normal human being... Bro, I absolutely acknowledge the increase in wage bill and the use of foreign reserves to stabilise the currency, but are you aware that guys before GEJ also used foreign reserves to stabilise the naira and even under OBJ, the same NOI paid off billions of dollars in debt?... Even upon that, under OBJ the foreign reserves grew from 5 to 42billion at a time when oil prices were significantly lower. C'mon, there's really not much that can be argued to justify why reserves would crash and debts would skyrocket at a time when income was almost tripled. There is definitely something the last economic team wasn't doing right in the last 5 years, ironically the team was headed by the same NOI. This is not necessarily a matter open to partisan arguments, elections are over. An unfortunate argument which people make is always pointing out the high economic indices which clearly is a 16-year period accumulated achievement, these people keep arguing that those are signs of stellar performance by the last team, but it's really an unfortunate way to comprehend things and I wouldnt bother arguing with them cos I know the partisan/sentimental stance they come from. |

After the way he way he lambasted the last administration, close to the election with his fictitious letters! One would have thought the GEJ administration had no single success, but alas he has come back to swallow his vomit!
Now he claims Reserves should have been $100billion but Nigeria only managed $30 billion! Thank God you agreed the $30 billion was 6times what was there initially! Hahaha!!!
I keep saying it that the GEJ regime did well, but unfortunately lost the support of the people to its poor management of the fuel subsidy saga, coupled with an internationally backed opposition propanganda machinery!
Now we can see for ourselves! Although we also know that this Soludo is looking for food!!! Quit being clever by half, the statement about multiplying by 6 was referring to the entire PDP's miserable 16 years and not GEJ's 5 years; Soludo was only trying to be courteous/nice that's why he mentioned that. As a matter of fact, OBJ's met the $5billion and left it at over $60 billion (ECA + Foreign reserves). GEJ met ~$60billion in 2010 (~$40 billion in foreign reserves and ~$20billion in ECA account) but left a paltry ~$30 billion when he stepped down. Soludo was simply referring to PDP meeting 5billion in 1999 and leaving 30billion in 2015; if you study the trend inbetween it is clear to even a primary school pupil that what Soludo has just said about GEJ having the worst financial management in PDP's 16 years is absolutely true. By the way, these are not ghost figures, the records are clear and easily obtainable by all. How can any normal human possibly defend that especially when GEJ's reign enjoyed more than twice the oil revenue enjoyed in OBJ's 8 years?.... How can any human possibly try to defend that?... How can any human possibly fault this particular claim pointed out by Soludo?... I would love to really see how anyone can defend or justify this. There is a reason why the smart pro-GEJ guys are only relying on insults here instead of arguing the figures. |

linearity: I do not feel pity for MTN, it was a business decision on their part.
They knew going in, that the fine for not disconnecting unregistered subscribers was $1000/per subscriber, they deliberately kept those subscribers connected, so they can continue to generate revenues from them.
They felt, they could get away with it and chances are, had it been GEJ was still the President, NCC might have let it slip and that was MTN's calculation...but with the new President and his proclamation against corruption and NCC not have felt the President very well to know his directions and to also curry favor from the President by doing some..."notice us Mr. President, we are working too, helping to generate money plus enforcing the letter of the law here"..lay down the law.
NCC motivation might be wrong, but the end result was perfect...NCC didn't sneak up on MTN and bent the rule. We can all argue that, the fines are too high, which is a valid conversation, but you cannot commit an offense and at sentencing argue with the Judge that, your sentencing is too hash, when the Judge is merely prescribing what is written in the law book as punishment for your offense.
At the end of the day, MTN should accept their fault and negotiate the fine down and NCC should also negotiate in good faith with a view to lowering it...MTN made a lot of 'illegal profits' during their non compliance period, so they have some ill accrued money with which to begin the payment. I'm totally not against MTN being punished accordingly for their flagrant disregard for regulations, the era of impunity must stop. However, I'm not comfortable with the governors revelling over this fine in public thereby giving an impression that Nigeria is simply out to make money from MTN. Dasuki may have not stolen from defence budgets (as he claims), but 2 things I'm sure of are: 1. Massive chunks of defence budgets meant for the war against Bokoharam was stolen, thereby rendering our military spineless and leading to the unfortunate loss of thousands of lives. 2. He may or may not be involved, but Dasuki surely knows the culprits who stole and/or diverted the funds meant for arming the military. My only advice and prayer is that the defence budget expenditures within the prevailing period should be thoroughly investigated and the investigations should not be politicised (like all other probes in Nigeria). Politicising security issues of this nature and throwing blames around across party lines was the reason behind the rise and rise of terrorism. Approximately N1trillion was budgeted for defence every single year since 2010, but still, our soldiers kept complaining of lack of basic things like bullets up until this year when thousands had already lost their lives and others deserted. Those moneys did not just grow wings, someone pocketed them. This is not an issue to trivialise with political sentiments or tribalism. The guys who stole or misappropriated these funds are the very guys who rendered Jonathan's administration useless. Political/tribal/religious leanings need to be put aside for this particular case because it directly affects us all. I can't thank God enough that the person involved is even of the same ethnicity and religion with Buhari, else the distractions would have been insurmountable. |

Politics › Re: Treasury Single Account: Its Benefit, Major Players And Unnecessary Controversy by obailala(m): 11:56am On Nov 19, 2015 |
TonyeBarcanista: I find the media noise and opposition over TSA as unnecessary, unpatriotic and ill-conceived. The reason for my position I shall spell out.(Apologies for the lengthy epistle)
Before The TSA Regime... Prior to the implementation of TSA, government Ministries, Departments and Agencies usually have their respective accounts where monies are lodged. What happened during this period was that a DG of an Agency or Executive Chairman will open an account for the Agency that he is in charge of, lodge monies there and make illegal withdrawals in connivance with corrupt bank officials. 70% of this fraud go undetected except an insider raised an alarm. We have had cases in the past where DG's of Agencies will deposit funds belonging to the agency in a commercial bank that he has interest. Even when alarm is raised, he will simply come out to sermonise us how he has been keeping these monies for the public and use court injunctions to evade justice, whereas his original intent was to divert it. A perfect example was the case of former Vice President and APC Chieftain Atiku Abubakar. As Chairman of Petroleum Training Development Fund(PTDF), Atiku lodged over $30million and $164 in Trans International Bank and Equatorial Trust Bank respectively from the account of PTDF according to EFCC's forensive indictment in 2006. In fact, 'loans' that yielded interest as high as 15% to the banks were collected from the said banks by Atiku and his proteges AFTER PTDF millions of dollars has been lodged with the illegal account. It was all business! When the deal was busted in 2006, Atiku simply said that he 'kept the monies for safe-keeping' and even claimed that he deserves commendation. What about cases of DG's and ministers that must have gone unreported? How did Tafa Balogun manage to loot his billions as Police IG? Hundreds of billions that cannot be quantified have left Nigerian treasury unreported and undetected before now.
With the coming of TSA, all these anomalies have been taken care of. The recurring act of ministers or DGs of Agencies opening illegal private account in a commercial bank for illicit activity has been eliminated. Everyone now operate with a single account that is managed by the CBN. In fact, every goat shall see free yams no more(with due respect to GEJ's Goat and Yam theory). We shall see how a prospective goat intend to eat our little yam(that isn't even enough for us) without being caught by the authorities.
The Controversial N25billion and The 1% Commission: When Otunba Dino Malaye raised the tale of Systemspecs(owner of the Remitta software) collecting N25billion(1%) of the monies processed so far, I asked myself whether Dino is living in the same Nigeria with me or somewhere else. The position of Dino is flawed for two basic reasons;
1. It amounts to stark ignorance to think that Nigeria has N2.5trillion cash at present. I even doubt if we have 50% of the said money. Naturally, such gossip shouldn't have been peddled by a senator of this great country. It is left for the men at beer parlours. Thankfully, Ibrahim Muazu, CBN's Public Communication director clarified the whole thing when it said that, an estimated sum of N1.2trillion is what was expected to be moved to the government account all through the whole exercise.
2. From the report of PremiumTimes, it was explained that Systemspec is only entitled 50% of the 1%. While the Banks and CBN get 40% and 10% respectively. An excerpt of the agreement reads..
If this is the case, then there is NO way Systemspecs would have pocketed N25billion even IF N2.5trillion has been processed(which is NOT correct). If we are to follow the government position that less than N900billion has been processed, it means Systemspec must have pocketed something close to N4.5billion. This amount is 18% of the vague figure raised by Dino.
I think Dino should tell Nigerians where he got his own figure from.
Ex-AGF Jonah Otunla Deserves Commendation From Nigerians: Sincerely, I'm not too pleased with the arrangement of 0.5% going to the Systemspec. It is very exorbitant and highly unsustainable when considering the huge amount involved. I wish the sum can be renegotiated but we MUST give kudos to the former Accountant-General that came up with the deal.
According to the report on PT, before the agreement was signed in 2013, Systemspecs proposed a commission of 1.5%, Commercial banks proposed 5%, while a committee setup by CBN and AGF's office proposed 2.5%. It was the exAGF Atunla that overruled all the proposals to 1%. This will see the software providers get 0.5%(as against their proposed 1.5%), Banks 0.4%(against 5%) and CBN 0.1%. Some officials would have negotiated their own cut and agree with the earlier proposals(or even increased it). May God Bless Jonah Atunla for acting in the interest of the public.
Kudos To Dr Goodluck Jonathan: When Jonathan was explaining his now famous Yam and Goat theory, he made mention of removing the yam from the goat so as to make it difficult for the goat to eat the yam. He then stated that he was building institutions that will tackle corruption once and for all. Though, there were few goats whose prosecution was demanded by some Nigerians during Jonathan's era, I believe that it will be fair for us to clap hands for him for conceiving and promoting this policy that will further alienate the goat from the yam. Indeed, he had plans of separating the goats from the yams and he meant his words. His administration started the implementation of TSA actually in March 2015. The CBN/OAGF gave the directive for commencement in February 2015. In fact, this was captured in CBN's letter to Systemspecs, which I quote....

Bravo President Muhammadu Buhari It takes a selfless leader to continue good initiative and policies of his/her predecessor. We have seen cases where successors discontinue policies of their predecessors to do 'their own'. Irrespective of party and tribal divide, President Buhari deserves commendation from Nigerians and not knocks for continuing with this wonderful policy. If there is ANY single thing that Buhari should be commended for since his government came to office, it is the TSA continuation.
Despite being in opposition, I'm praising Buhari for taking a patriotic step. I understand that this is in contrast with the APC position when they were in opposition. They never commended the FOI law, they opposed military crackdown against BH terrorists and even opposed the designation of BH as terrorists organisation. I believe that we all should play politics of patriotism irrespective of our partisan leaning. Nigeria's interest should take preeminence in all our decisions.
On Senate's Probe... I still don't know what the Senate is probing but I support the probe on condition that their intent isn't to ask the Executive to stop the policy. They should investigate to know whether or not a fraud has taken place at anytime of the process. They should ensure that their probe is to strengthen TSA for public interest. However, they MUST not attempt to stop the policy, because it will be resisted. They shouldn't also consider opting out of the TSA because that will be fought against by the masses.
May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria Kudos to you for this... Great write-up! |

ODUBEZE: You are not getting my point! Non of these leaders you mentioned threatened the peace of this country. They all believed in one Nigeria. Using Yaradua as a case study: Yaradua is a peace loving man and not biased. As far as I am concerned, he treated everyone fairly and equally. Are U not aware that Buhari himself does not believe we are one? Are U not also aware that hr threatened to cause chaos if power did not return to North(him)? Today he is arresting KANU when he himself was Bokoharam spokesman back then. He understand the Northerners very well, isn't it? Put yourself in other peoples shoe! I hate injustice. He is not the only one might likely to get that treatment, believe me someone like Atiku might as well because of character. It is not every one that is fit to govern this country and that is the message the SE is trying to pass across! You remember IBB tried coming out and he got d same reaction! He crawled back. Even now if you have noticed, if any great thing is happening in the South, he sends Oshibanjo while in the North, he attends! Is that an attitude of someone who bel8eve in the unity of this country? D minister stuff came as a matter of necessity! The bottom line is that you don't have push anyone aside because they carried out their constitutional right or speak ill of them. He is the President for Christ sake! Isn't always said that customers are always right? Pushing. the problem away will not get it solved, face it, get the fact behind the problem and get it solved! That is what a true leader will do. My point is very simple, Buhari has not pushed anyone aside, it is the Igbos that are pushing themselves aside with all the premature and disproportionate outcries, uproar, forceful and uncivil opposition. The Igbos completely judged and declared PMB persona-non-grata even before power was handed over to him on the 29th of May. You said Yaradua was not biased and treated everyone fairly, are you aware you allowed Yaradua to rule for some years before you adjudged him to be fair?... are you also aware that you did not even allow PMB to rise up to the presidency before you adjudged him to be an unfair devil who isnt and shouldnt be allowed to rule?... You are absolutely lying to yourself (to justify your prematurely passed judgement) if you claim that it was because of his actions that Igbos are reacting in this way, it is only fellow Igbos who share same mentality that would swallow such falsehood. Okay Buhari made the unfortunate 97% - 5% quote, but you all cleverly avoid the part in the same statement where he said even if he decides not to develop the 5%, the constitution wouldn't permit him to do that so therefore he will be a president for all. Be true to yourself, if an entire ethnic group showers you the kind of dreadful hate the Igbos showered PMB even before he received power, what would be your reaction?... What would be your perception of such a people?... Would you be foolish enough to appoint someone from that ethnic group into your inner caucus?... Buhari has made it very clear from his statements that in terms of development, he is the president of all and he would fairly develop all zones and that he is even bound by constitution to do that. But regarding political appointments for instance, you can't expect equal appointments from those that supported him and those that didnt, isn't that common sense and isn't that how it happens all over the world??... The FG has even proved its resolve to be fair in the spread of development by even starting with the kick-off of the 260km road from calabar to Benue, the directive to upgrade the owerri airport, the directive to commence clean-up of Ogoni land etc. Even recently, the VP was in Enugu and he declared the FG would take special attention to the state of the federal roads in the SE. So I ask, what exactly are Igbos killing themselves about?... Why are we being so unreasonably hateful and vengeful?... The last administration that the Igbo supported massively with their lives, what did they do for the SE zone besides appointing plenty Igbos to go into government to fill their personal pockets?... Or are we now more interested in appointments than developments which can affect the lives of many?... Why are we being so unreasonable? Now you claim the Igbos simply exercised their rights by not supporting PMB, you claim that "it is not everyone that is fit to govern this country," if this is the perception of the SE, in the spirit of fairness and democracy, are you not aware that every other zone in Nigeria also reserves the right to think otherwise especially since we are in a democracy? Even now if you have noticed, if any great thing is happening in the South, he sends Oshibanjo while in the North, he attends! Is that an attitude of someone who bel8eve in the unity of this country? With all respect, this is a very silly assumption and this a very unhealthy way to think. Apart from the Yola IDP camp visit and Cross Rivers state, can you mention the OFFICIAL visits the president has made?... and please dont mention his visit to his village. This is a very unhealthy way to reason and I have no doubt that it is strictly because of this sort of mentality that millions of Igbos are buying into the farce that PMB is devil incarnate. This is the sort of rubbish stories one would expect to hear from only okada men or roadside vulcanisers. |

ODUBEZE: It is the APC and FG that is childish and naive. If you take a critical look at the political history of this country, you will realise that the SE has always voted based on their conviction! They have always supported any candidate irrespective of where they came from. SE voted enmass for Yaradua-North for those that claims that they hate the Northerners They voted for OBJ- South West even when his own people did not vote for him. They voted for Good luck- SS e.t.c. Now shouldn't their right be respected if they refuse to vote for PMB base on conviction? Majority of you from west talking did not even vote for him! And some of U that voted for him should please list his achievement (s) so far. If we are not deceiving ourselves, never in the political history of this country has a only a region voted or not voted for a particular presidential candidate and never has a any region being neglected. I stand to be corrected. PMB needs to check himself, know why people are agitating and make the necessary correction. Better still he should listen to wise counsel on what leadership is all about. He is not the only candidate from d North! he should check himself before he destroys this country with his hands! Igbos supported OBj, he won - No Problem Igbos supported Yaradua, he won - No Problem Igbos supported GEJ, he won - No problem Igbos supported GEJ again, he lost - Hell is let loose! If you cannot see the childishness in that, then its a pity. Now you say PMB should watch it, and I ask, Watch what exactly?.... PMB needs to check himself for what?... Because one ethnic group out of over 200 feels sad over an election result and are heating up the polity?.... even before power was handed over to Buhari, the attacks on his person had already started, so you can't even claim it was because of any of his actions. The question is, why the rabid hatred for the man? Buhari has not signed any contracts so far, so why are Igbos so sure that they are going to be marginalised by PMB?... Is it because of appointments?... How can you expect PMB to appoint people who openly declare themselves his enemies into sensitive positions?... The actions of the majority of Igbos is even killing the political fortunes of the few Igbos in the APC. Okay, today Igbos have been made ministers; are you telling me that you prefer ministers to development?.... Probably the answer to this would be YES because GEJ for instance appointed countless Igbos into positions but gave no FG development in the southeast yet you lots are okay with that?... Please tell me, what exactly has PMB done wrong to the Igbos to warrant such hatred?... he hasnt started awarding contracts yet so you cant tell me marginalisation; as a matter of fact, PMB has even ordered the upgrade of Sam Mbakwe airport. What exactly is the problem? |

Flets: People should not be allowed to speak rubbish and get away with it. Only a myopic view will support the outright ban on small generators
why small generators only? Bigger generators without appropriate maintenance cause similar pollution.
But the bigger issue is that the gas flared from Rivers state alone has more cumulative impact than all small generators combined. Yet the government cannot even push to eliminate these flares and even use the same gas for power generation. But they are quick to ban small generators..... how exactly does that make sense?
Only under a president like Buhari will banning generators come before adequate power generation and supply. This is a clear case of thinking backwards. I do not rhink it is a good idea to ban IPMN generators, now is definitely not the time. But then, what are the benefits of this? Firstly, I do not doubt the killer pollution fumes that emanates from that generator; it mixes oil and fuel and burns off the oil + fuel (that is deadly). Secondly, the next higher generator (which doesnt mix oil + fuel) isnt so much more expensive. This policy will force people to cough out 50% more to buy safer generators, and I can assure you that with this ban in place, there are already people in Nnewi and Aba who have started fabricating perfect IPMN generators. |

How much is an 'I pass my neighbour' generator presently and how much is the next higher generator in the market (i.e. a generator which doesnt get to mix oil and fuel)?? |

menix: If u not a child urself, u will know this same clamour started 1967... Arrant nonsense... keep deceiving yourself and your likes with this rubbish talk about "the clamour has been on since 1960." Up until 2015, how many Igbos were die hard members of massob or ipob?.. how many were going out into the streets to protest?... How many were running around online insulting anyone and everyone and declaring themselves biafrans? As an Igbo man I was personally subtly in support of biafra all through my life, but the stark hypocrisy of this recent struggle (all because of election) makes me to totally detest the idea of this secession. How can the trigger to secession be election loss? Not even that the candidate who lost was igbo and not that he was rigged out or deposed by a military coup?... What sort of childish impulse is this? It would be a disaster if a secession is based on the impulse of election loss hangover and I can never be a party to such senselessness. You guys can keep deceiving and embarrassing yourselves on the streets and online insulting everyone, such bad losers! My only worry is that when the problem starts (it has even already started with the sharp ethnic division championed by you guys), all Igbos irrespective of stance would suffer for the folly of you guys. |

Signed; End Time Pikin.. Absolute rubbish! Because you lose an election (due to poor political calculations) you now want to break away from a country, how childish. If everyone does that, and keeps doing that, what would be left of the country? |
