tiwiex: Oga. Considering the amount involved. 1% is pretty ridiculous. It's a bloody software and it really sends digital money. Remita was not designed for the purpose of TSA. It just happened. All that happened was record updates from banks to CBN. I doubt if any physical cash was involved. Even if CBN calls in a consultant to build a software solely for this, would it even cost 1b naira. Outsourcing and privatization has created another window for fraud. Work that can be done in house is now made to look like rocket science. How much is a states monthly allocation? And 1 company claims to make some states 2 year allocation in one swoop moving government money. No wonder we don't have jobs. There is more to this story. Buharis hands cannot be clean. If they are, then we are in more trouble than I thought. He is totally incompetent. Maybe remita should be responsible for this 5k to the unemployed because a serious government would consider those before allowing one company work away with this much money. I don't like Dino Melaye but he did good on this one. Someone is just desperate to scream 'I told you.' SOmeone is obviously desperate to nail the president for this. No doubt the 1% is ridiculous considering the amount involved, but are you aware you just carefully overlooked the administration that actually signed the 1% agreement in 2012? |

I believe you are right. Fund handling comes with a major cost globally and companies which render these services charge a handsome commission. The 1% commission in the light of the massive amount involved is actually the bone of contention here. |

Dictatorship is when all key APC members were arrested and detained prior to governorship elections in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti, Osun etc. Dictatorship is when Niger Delta Militants were awarded with contracts to supply military Hard Wares without the knowledge of Defense Ministry. Dictatorship is when Adamawa State had 4 Governors in 4 consecutive months due to impunity. Dictatorship is when DSS blocked Tinibu's house for 5 days. shortgun: Buhari Paid TSA Consultants N60 Billion, Not N25B Per Day As Exposed – Nigerian Senate.
REMITA is owned by the APC leader Ahmed Tinubu; who is alleged to be acting as a front for President Buhari. REMITA is requested to "remit" back a total of N2.5trn they received as Commission. Paying N6trn a year to REMITA will crash the economy. The main reason for Buhari's 'profit warning', "that Nigeria is broke"
The Nigerian Senate have requested the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately terminate the contract awarded to a private firm REMITA for the implementation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s version of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, which pat REMITA 1% commission for every transaction. The Senate instructed its committees on Finance, Banking and other Financial Institutions, and Public Accounts to carry out a holistic investigation and report back in two weeks, asked the firm to return the sum of N2.5 trillion which has allegedly been collected so far.
President Muhammadu Buhari secretly awarded the Company the contract without following the Nigerian banking rules. The Senate had also asked for the prosecution of all members of REMITA’s board of directors according to the provisions of the Bank and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA). Senator Dino Melaye, on his debate on the motion, said that the “Federal Government on 15th of September 2015 mopped up the sum of N2.5 trillion Naira through its e- collection agent, Remita. On his part, the Majority Senate Leader, Ali Ndume expressed surprised at the revelation given that the President assumed office on the back of no- tolerance for corruption campaign. He said: “I didn’t believe that this could happen under this government. However, if it is true, the people involved are saboteurs, and must be compelled to return the money, and face the wrath of the law Who is this mumu trying too hard to be a gutter propagandist? |

SLIDEwaxie: deal with this, boy and stop foaming in the mouth. what is the job of the CBN if it cannot handle remmitances from the banks since it deals with the banks and handles their funds directly. accept the fact that the company was set us for this selfish purpose: to embezzle an unnecessary fund.
what is the big deal in UBA remmitting XXXX Billion and CBN auditing and checking all papers?
This auditing company has chairmen who have nother to do with auditing. they are all past government officials who just wanted to use the avenue to rip off the masses again! The company in question has been in existence for over a decade. They have also handled this kind of cash transfer contracts for over a decade. All over the world, fund handling is an expensive business and financial companies that do this sort of business sometimes charge commissions even as high as 5%. It is left to the FG that signed the contract to tell Nigerians why they didn't allow the CBN to handle the contract. It is also left to the new FG to tell us why they didnt review the contract before moving ahead with the transfer of trillions. |

Bugatie: Good to know the men behind the scene,
Hope they get probed for the unauthorised withdrawal from the TSA The company provides financial services and they get paid a commission for their services. FG contracted them (in 2012) to undertake the TSA remittance from all banks to the CBN. In a couple of months, they handled the transfer of some trillions of Naira to the CBN and they got paid their commission as agreed in the contract. The real question is, "why did the FG in 2012 give out this contract to an independent company?... Why didn't the CBN handle the contract themselves?" On this issue, both the FG under GEJ (who signed the contract with this company) and the FG under PMB (who rushed to implement the TSA without spotting this anomaly), both administrations have question to answer on this. I dont think the company involved has done anything wrong, going by the reports so far. |

kYjelly2: Stella oduah was hounded for spending 255 million for bullet proof cars as a minister while Fashola who spent 78 million naira for a common website is hailed as the beacon of change
Lets even do some analysis, isn't what Stella bought closer to the amount she spent, than what fashola spent in relation to what he got
In other words, isn't it easier to get away with 255 million for 2 bullet proof cars than it is to get away with 78 million naira for a brochure website any where in the world
Yet he got away, due to naijas never ending hypocrisy
Practical example, BMW has a bullet proof X5 going for 110,000 pounds. multiply by two, that would be 220,000 pounds. that only resists ak47 shells but isn't blast proof. we can argue for sake of argument that blast proofing would increase the price tag and get the number closer to 500,000 pounds or more.
Now please tell me a brochure site that has ever been created for more than 500,000 naira before anywhere in the world. A brochure site is different from an application, which nairaland and facebook are and even those were created by young kids just meddling with what they loved.
So how is it that one was hounded and the other was not even question by the EFCC and allowed to sail into a ministry as a minster?
One was removed while being a minister, while the other is accepted even with a more obvious misappropriation case to answer to.
It just seems naija is filled with hyprocrites.
Now back to the praise singing of Fashola the change that will change ministry, mtcheew.
As always, for the love of country, this country will get better by fire by fore, but the hypocrites will answer one day, if not here then in the life beyond, mtcheew Was Fashola's website contract inflated?.. YEs! Was Oduah's bullet proof car contract inflated?.. YES
The difference in both cases is however very simple... Fashola committed his own immorality legally while Odua committed hers illegally.
Fashola got the full approval for the payment from his state HOA however Odua's request to buy those cars was REJECTED by the NASS but she still went ahead from the back to buy the cars and the cars were eventually bought at an even higher price than the original budget which the NAS rejected. That is an illegal act (a crime)
If anyone cannot see the difference in terms of legality or illegality in this case, then it's a pity, such a person should return to primary school. |

Right now I believe we have a leader with a different approach. Waiting. Cc: Obailala. Like I mentioned in my earlier submission, I am not an expert in constitutional matters and I therefore do not know the answer to the question of constitutionality. However I raised my own question, is it constitutionally within the President's powers to merger or scrap ministries?.... IF the answer is YES, then I dont think it would be beyond PMB's powers to decided not to appoint a senior minister of petroleum or to annex the petroleum ministry with the presidency. The above was my simple assumption. Kudos for you have done a brilliant research up there to confirm the unconstitutionality of the president occupying 2 offices, it's always lovely when people argue with hard facts like this to shut their opponents down. However, taking a look at the constitutional provision, I think it would be a very simple case for the presidency to wriggle itself out of without breaking any law, and you wouldnt expect the presidency not to be aware of this. |

With what I see as the problem, I can assure you that if we break away today without setting some pre-requisites in place, it would be a disaster which would be worse than south sudan. In my opinion, I liken a secession to transplanting a kidney when it is actually a liver that has failed. It can only be disastrous and black nations for long have always fallen into the mistake of wrong socio-political diagnosis. In the 60's, a secession would have been the answer, but now is absolutely not the 60s. Even Ojukwu himself saw that Igbos had a bigger problem of leadership at the local level, that was why he formed APGA to tackle this. Today Igbos have sold APGA to PDP, PDP has failed and we are chasing secession as if it's a holy grail. As for the GEJ confab, GEJ organised it strictly for political hoodwinking reasons. Curlieweed: These same people voted for Mumuharri who promised to shred the said report and somehow you want them to fight to implement it. Now, who is being unrealistic?
Nigeria is cruel joke and an embarrassment to right thinking black people everywhere. The designers of this abomination didn't do so for your benefit but simply for your exploitation. They made no pretence at building even the semblance of the foundations of a possibly united nation. If they had any intention of allowing this contraption to grow into a working whole, they won't have used two totally different administrative and legal systems to run the two halves of their booty. I am sure that even they would be faintly amused at your naivety (or should I say arrogance) in thinking that you can make it work as one cohesive whole for the benefit of the hapless wretches trapped in this colonial prison camp.
Nigeria was only designed for one reason. Ease of exploitation. That is why successive neocolonial leaders have followed the operating instruction to the letter. A car is designed to be driven on roads. If you decide to fly it then you will have a big problem
I don't buy the familiar "leadership is the problem" explanation. It's too shallow and lacks any empirical rigour. The SE is part of the Nigerian system and systems follow structure, while individuals modify their behaviour to suit the system. There is a famous psychology experiment called the Stanford Prison Experiment. Young men were divided into the roles of Prisoner and Guard and put in a prison-like environment in the basement of the Psychology Department at Stanford University. The study was meant to last two weeks. But the brutality of the Guards and the suffering of the Prisoners was so intense that it had to be terminated after only six days.
The study provided a graphic illustration of the power of situations to shape individuals' behaviour. It has been argued that the Guards acted the way they did because they conformed blindly to their assigned role, as did he in his position as Prison Superintendent: Guard aggression … was emitted simply as a ‘natural’ consequence of being in the uniform of a ‘guard’ and asserting the power inherent in that role. Furthermore, because the Guards could not help themselves, they could not be blamed for their actions.
Scholars have used this simple and powerful account to explain the atrocities committed by very diverse actors – from the suicide bombers who flew into New York’s Twin Towers on 9/11 to the American torturers at Iraq’s infamous Abu Ghraib prison. Oh yeah, 'Mumuharri'... at the end of the day, the whole movement is fueled by one and only one thing, the hatred for buhari and the anger that he defeated your candidate in an election. But then, you talk about the SW voting Buhari who promised to shred the national conference report. Only a silly person would expect a north westerner or north easterner to implement any confab report. But then, was GEJ going to also implement the report?... NEVER. It is also only a silly person that would have believed that GEJ had the political will or courage to implement the report. The election was purely a case of choosing between 2 unsound candidates, but while one had the political will to fight corruption, the other not only did not have the political will nor courage, he did not also give a damn about the existence of corruption. Finally, I am arguing with someone whose reasoning is beclouded by the emotions of hate, and anger and disgust over the defeat of GEJ and emergence of a person he terms mumuharri; I would be silly if I expect any sensible or balanced arguments from someone who is emotional. Goodnight! |
