laudate: Kindly point us to that section of the article, where the GMD said 'this exercise was not totally his handiwork'.
If he was just implementing the recommendations of an investigative panel, how come he did not say so and there was no press statement alluding to such an exercise?? So because it was not mentioned in the article, you have assumed the rest?.... C'mon, it's not everything they have to mention to you. |
Career › Re: NNPC Retires 1000 Staff by obailala(m): 11:48am On Aug 17, 2015 |
kay9: I don't mean to defend laudate's demands for "proof", but the very fact that the new GMD hasn't even been in office for up to TWO WEEKS and already plans to sack 1,000 people... bros me, something is NOT being properly done.
Yes, NNPC is over-bloated with lots of "white elephant" personnel, but you can't tell me that in just a little over 1 week, Mr. Kachi has done a comprehensive appraisal of all concerned staff AND identified all those that are under-performing. C'mon, let's be realistic here. It was also mentioned that people due for retirement by December 2016 will be laid off as well. Like seriously?? Eziokwu?? Please someone should inform the new boss that doing that is actually a crime, and that the laid-off workers will have a VERY solid case in court. So unless his real motive is to sink the NNPC into an even bigger mess, he should re-think his strategies. And what about disengagement packages? Or, does he intend to sack and continue round 2 in settlement courts?
Anything worth doing is worth doing well; the NNPC needs downsizing, yes, but it must be done right - fairly and equitably, on the basis of low performance indices and non-qualification for the given role - not by a knee-jerk pronouncement. laudate: Thank you for actually taking out time to read, digest and understand my post. Those are the right words: "fairly & equitably". Don't you guys think you 'might' be the ones prematurely jumping into conclusions?.... @kay9, you claim the GMD hasn't been in office for up to 2 weeks hence it is too early for him to make such a decision. @Laudate claims due process may have not been followed. From your arguments, the both of you have instantly concluded that this retrenchment exercise is a brainchild of the new GMD. Have you imagined that this could be a process that has been on for a long time even before the appointment of Mr Kachi?... Have you both given it a thought that a thorough investigation may have been conducted in past and this recommendation may have just been lying on the desk of the previous GMD and president without action?... I personally do not know the details, but I'm almost sure this exercise is not totally the handwork of the new GMD; the new GMD may just be a man of hard balls who's just implementing the recommendations of an investigative panel which was concluded in the past. Let's seek more information before we dive into the arguments. |

I personally was very disappointed with Kukah in all his remarks in the defence of Jonathan. Why does the black man always develop compassion for the rich thieves but turn around to barbecue his hunger stricken neighbour for stealing maggi cubes?
What some of those in defence of GEJ do not realise is that millions of Nigerians went out of their way to vote an aged despotic ex-military dictator who cannot even speak clear English for a specific reason. A Buhari would have never won an election in Nigeria in the past but there's a specific reason why the people voted for him this time, it is simply for him to hunt down and punish treasury looters. As for me and my house, even if Buhari turns Nigeria to Singapore in 4 years, if treasury looters are not arrested and given long jail terms, then Buhari would have failed me and millions of other well meaning Nigerians out there. |

Reference: But what is the Federal Government doing about it. Civil works throughout the country has ground to a halt. Nothing is happening. FERMA which is responsible for continual remedial works no longer exists. Just cutting across that road to let the mud drain away is the simplest of things that can be done. Calabar will soon be completely cut off from the rest of the country except by air as the main highway has failed in several sections.
A number of new state governors have embarked on emergency road rehabilitation. Why is the Federal government so slow. Is it the only arm beset with financial challenges. Why can't it get the country moving months after ascension. Why is it so distracted by irrelevancies. What do you regard as irrelevance?.. Is it the fight against terrorists or the fight against corruption?.... Is it the steps being taken to block leaking holes in the ministries before appointing ministers or is it the contracting of auditing firms to help investigate and possibly recover looted billions from NNPC?... What exactly did you just trivialise as 'irrelevance'? Are you aware corruption in higher places is our single biggest problem which has kept Nigeria in the league of 3rd world countries?... Is it the steps being taken to fight this monster that you just trivialised as irrelevance? Are you aware it is because of this same corruption in high places that the road in question is in its present sorry state?.... A contract was awarded through NDDC to dualise this road almost 10 years ago yet the only bit of the road that is good was constructed by Rivers state government out of frustration. Up till today, nobody knows what happened to the funds released by NDDC for this road and several administrations have passed with no one giving a damn or asking questions; now we have an administration that wants to look into this particular issue and here we have someone calling it irrelevance. What is even wrong with the black man?! |

ELTON123: amaechi come and see oo The irony of this your comment is that Amaechi is actually the hero when this road is concerned. This is a federal road which connects Imo to Rivers state and the only good section of the road is the Rivers state axis which was fixed by Amaechi, of which the FG refused to refund Rivers state till the last minute. The most scandalous aspect of this mess was when some devilish GEJ supporters before the elections kept spreading falsehoods by including this road as one of the nonexistent achievements of GEJ in the south east. As a matter of fact, the saTANists quoted this particular road twice in the list of GEJ's achievements in the SE; it was listed twice as PH to Owerri and Elele to Owerri. Yet, this is the sorry state of the road. But God delivered us from the GEJ virus of scam achievements. By the way, shame on all those blaming Rochas for not fixing a federal road. |

They said they were carried out the last audit in a political environment. Ethically, are they not supposed to stop the audit and quit instead of giving out false, inaccurate and incomplete reports? Bawsse: PWC again?
I just hope they don't compromise on their standards again.... Deloitte or EY shudda been brought in, if u ask me. anonimi: The same firms Jonathan used right
Who audited these accounts during OBJ's time? How can the petroleum minister who is a prime suspect in the case be the judge in her own case?... That is not done anywhere in the world except in Nigeria. PWC still remains one of the greatest auditing firms worldwide and they certainly did not compromise, they only did what they were paid for and they clearly stated that in their report. The previous pwc audit was just a waste of time and money by the Nigerian government in a well calculated move to deceive the Nigerian populace. How can you audit NNPC finances when the NNPC and CBN refused to cooperate?. PWC only produced a blank paper to justify the money they were paid. However, this time around, I would like to see how NNPC or CBN would close their books from pwc or kpmg. drss: A look at Nigeria's history will reveal that Nigeria had only four non military leaders since independence. These guys are:
1. Nnamdi Azikiwe 1960-1966 2. Tafawa Balewa 1960-1966 3. Shehu Shagari 1979-1983 4. Shonekan. 1993-1993 5. Goodluck Jonathan. 2010-2015
These men were Nigeria's most democratic leaders who never belong to the military establishment. But the irony of the whole thing is that, despite the fact that they were the most democratic individuals Nigeria ever had, they were all kicked out in an unceremonial manner.
- Nnamdi and Tafawa balewa were booted out through military coup in 1966. -Shehu Shagari was overthrown in 1983 coup, three weeks after being sworn in for second term. -Shonekan was flinged-out in 1993. He spend only 3 months in power. Finaly GEJ was elected-out of office through a well planned conspiracy in 2015. He was defeated by his opponent, a former military man. The same individual who kicked Shagari out in 1983. SMH All these leaders share one thing in common; They were all removed unceremoniously by military men. When we consider the fact that the military ruled Nigeria more than the civilians, it will be safe to say that the country, Nigeria is owned by the military establishment. The big question now is, are Nigerians democracy loving citizens? Or are they just hypocritical dictatorship loving people? Jonathan was a failure of a leader, that's the only reason why he was kicked out; that's the only reason why he could even have been kicked out. You guys should stop all this rubbish talk about conspiracy. GEJ's incompetence is the only conspiracy that kicked him out. It's rather unfortunate that only people from a particular section of the country (the SE) were blind and are still blind to the incompetence of GEJ even though the rest of Nigerians and even foreigners could see it. Even my SS friends agree that GEJ was incompetent but they supported him only cos he was their brother... I'm tired of hearing this 'conspiracy' blab. |
