When saharareporters.com was created, it was seen as a website that would promote good governance and social Justice by removing the veil that gave some governments and government officials cover to do things that did not promote the well being of the citizens and the nation they governed.

The site quickly established a reputation as a medium for ground breaking news and Nigerians flocked to the site making it the most popular website in Nigeria as at 2009.

My brother..
1. It's not possible to sell the fuel to an airline because of the many safety on fuel contamination. Checks are been carried on every fuel used by airplanes from the source and to the end users(airline operators) and these are documented for further reference.

2. Jet A1 fuel could also be used as a kerosene. I remember back in the years, these fuel is been shared among lower staff.. mind you, the fuel shared is usually gotten from the drained fuel used for checks and since you can't return it back to the aircraft, you just share it among lower staffs.

3. I'm not partisan, But I tell you the truth, for people to stay awake untill 2:55 am(Midnight) just to siphon a couple of jerry cans of kerosene(Jet A1), I really think poverty is the drive here.

If the subsidy on kerosene is been gotten by all, no one will b a Jet A1 fuel in place of normal Kerosene..

Oboi I don tire to type.. shuo make I go bath go work ooh.
kushsy:
. Jet fuel could also be used in cooking stove maybe that what they stealing for not to sale. doubt an airline will buy fuel in Gallons.
tunde1200:
Bro the write alone shows lots of incorrect facts. No where in the world aviation Jet A1 will be used to top another aircraft from jerry cans.

No airline will ever buy such water contaminated fuel for another aircraft according to aircraft maintenance manual and procedures for fuel storages.

I worked for the same arikair and I believe those fuel are siphoned and sell to local users for cookings like kerosene due to their similarities, only that jeta1 is lighter than kerosene.
Now this is exactly what i would have expected, that the siphoned fuel is sold as kerosene on the streets.... but for the aviation minister to actually day these stolen fuel is sold to 'other airlines,' that is very very disturbing.

It is either the minister is a dunce or it could be that he knows exactly what he's talking about (nothing is too strange to happen in this our Nigeria). I just hope the former is the case though.

What?! shocked

I'm really not bothered about guys siphoning aviation fuel from a plane. What I'm curious to know is who they sell these jerrycans to.

Does it mean some airlines could actually just buy off jet fuel from any tout at the airport and use a funnel to pour it into a plane?

I would have expected a very stringent procurement procedure for things like jet fuel considering the dangers of running an aircraft with poor quality or adulterated fuel.

The Americans and all other nations are not helping us because our problem is self inflicted and also because the situation isn't yet irredeemable if only Nigerians decide to do the right thing (kicking the present incompetent leader out and demanding accountability from our public officers).

In any society, not everyone is meant to be a leader. Some people perform better at being loyalists and this doesn't in anyway undermine their importance or value in the scheme of things. GEJ isn't just cut out to be a leader especially in a complex and polarised country like ours; leadership goes far beyond building roads or airports but many Nigerians obviously do not know this.

The world is closely watching what Nigerians will do in the elections. In the eyes of the world, the joke is presently on Jonathan but the result of the polls will determine if the joke will still remain on GEJ or if it extends to all Nigerians.

My concern is with the Keke Marwa man who was also arrested by the police. what are you saying. Don't be clearly bias. What about works, trade and investment, petroleum, aviation, even finance(not withstanding the fall in crude oil that is testing her knowledge and experience) but for labour, power, communication technology, defence and some others, honestly am not impressed. The painful is the power ministry. I see Nebo as not so experience compared to his predecessor Prof. Bath Nnaji. He always complain of sabotage. Thank God the Labaran Maku is technically sent away because he might have one day say what he was not suppose to sat. But then, GEJ is transforming Nigeria. I will vote him.
I stand by my original statement; the agric ministet is the only one with stellar performance.

Did I hear u say Petroleum and aviation?... mention one achievement of the petroleum minister other than conducting shady deals, diverting and conniving with NNpC and the oil cabals to divert billions, spending N10billion for hire and maintenance of a private jet (an amount which can buy several planes) and finally using 'strange powers' and diabolic court injunctions to stop the House of Reps from investigating her activities. Is that what a person calls achievement or performance?

Or you mentioned the aviation minister who spent indisclosed billions upon billions refurbishing airports but yet we have leaking roofs at the international arrival lounge of MMIA. Also after the billions spent on the enugu airport, all we have is a 'River Niger on the tarmac at the slightest rains... The same woman who illegally spent unappropriated funds to buy bullet proof vehicles at an overinflated rate, is that what you call stellar performance?

Then you mentioned Finance and you want to exonerate her because of the fall in oil prices which only started few months ago.... Did you read the writeup by Prof Soludo?... or are you one of those who thought it was too long or maybe you just dismissed it as propaganda without giving the hard facts and figures a thought?... or probably you are one of those who swallowed the 'biggest economy in africa' and '3rd highest GDP growth rate' facade which are very misleading indices that the govt has repeatedly used to deceive gullible people?

I am sorry to say but with the monumental depletion of our foreign reserves over the last 5 yrs and the astronomic increase in debts, coupled with the ever increasing poverty and unemployment figures, all these happening at a time the nation experienced a record 5 year oil boom, it is only fair to say the Finance team has the WORST performance of all the ministries and also has the worst record in the history of Nigeria (even worse than military regimes). I am tempted not to place the blame on finance minister because most of the indiscretions and recklessness was by the president, but there is something called 'resigning honorably' when ur boss' indiscretions affect your performance and your reputation.

Buhari made it clear he would ensure the continuity of the good policies of GEJ's administration (of which the revival of agriculture is about the only one) and would halt or revamp the unproductive or retrogressive policies. There is no doubt the agric minister is doing a good job and even the APC acknowledges that as we can see from Kwankwaso's endorsement.

Politics › Re: Is President Jonathan Really Not Bad? Budget 2010 - 2014 by obailala(m): 11:36pm On Feb 14, 2015
Bog12:
3] Goodluck dualized federal roads (about 25,000km) which Obasanjo and past Govts abandoned and you say Goodluck is bad.
This is a bloody lie from the pit of hell. 25000km represents over 80% of the federal roads in Nigeria. It is shameful that Jonathan supporters also include 'wishlist' projects as part of his achievements and these wishlist projects actually make up 90% of the so called roads which Jonathan's administration fixed. Roads which have been undergoing dualisation works for the past 10 years, and which has still not been completed is included as an achievement of GEJ. What nonsense!... I challenge Jonathanians to mention 1 ( just 1) federal road whose dualisation or reconstruction was INITIATED and COMPLETED in the last 5 years under GEJ.

5] Goodluck has been conducting free and fair elections whereas the ones conducted under Obasanjo are Shameful and national disgrace yet you say Goodluck is bad.
Oh yes!.. Free and fair elections indeed. Just like the one we just heard the secret recordings of the minister of defense blackmailing and bribing and military General to disenfranchise voters in Ekiti?... Free and fair like the governor's forum election where the government insulted the intelligence and sensibilities of Nigerians by telling us 16 was greater than 19?
2011 elections might have appeared free and fair because for the first time in Nigeria's history, the presidentiall candidate oof the ruling party enjoyed massive goodwill from the people. There was basically no need to rig the 2011 elections. THe present macabre dance of the 2015 elections will truly expose the true colours of GEJ.

6] Goodluck established 12 new universities, 9 in the North to improve learning and knowledge and increase the Jambites admission rate, yet you say that Goodluck is bad.
I thank God you used the word 'established' and not 'built.' Because it is clear most of the so called new universities were just change of names; they simply change the name of an already existing polytechnic or college of education and call it "University of ....." and voila!! a new university is born. Commendable though!

8] Goodluck has been building dams and improving the country's power from 2500mW to 6,000MW - And successfully privatized the sector which many analyst believed is the best way to go and you joined them say that Goodluck is bad.
Which dams please?.. As at 1999, we always knew the power generation installed capacity was about 4000MW and statements from the power minister reveal we still do not have up to 5000mw. So I wonder where your figures come from, I wonder why the figures of the power ministry and the figures from the GEJ campaign office are conflicting.

10] 2013 and 2014 was the Christmas in Nigeria, where Nigerian did not sleep in filling stations for 3 to 4 days to get Petrol or 100s of people being roasted alive in attempts to get fuel in petrol stations, wickedly, you joined them to say that our God given President is not performing.
No fuel queues in Christmas since 2011, very commendable but the question any smart person should ask is, "at what cost?"
In 2007, OBJ paid N188bn as fuel subsidies, we had fuel queues at christmas.
In 2011, GEJ paid N2.13Trillion as fuel subsidies and there were no fuel queues. As commendable as it was for there to be no quest, it is only an irredeemable dolt or a simply ignorant person that would celebrate this financial indiscretion as an achievement.

11] Airports are wearing world class looks and every zone have International airport and you say Goodluck is bad.
At what cost?... Even with the billions spent on refurbishing the airports, we still had leaking roofs at the international airport arrival lounge. I wouldn't want to even mention the shameful flooding at the Enugu airport on first rains last year. I suppose APC would also be blamed for bribing God to send down wicked rains.

12] This administration has employed more people in their 5years in office than any other in the history of Nigeria [Via Agric, Energy sector,16 New Car Companies, 12 New Universities, 3,826 primary Health care Centers, Teaching Hospitals] SURE-P, YOUWIN and you say Goodluck is bad. Now do you think that General Muhammadu Buhari will perform magic, which he could not do when he was in his 40s, if you vote him?
.. You seriously think this administration employed more people than OBJ's administration even though statistics from the NBS say differently?... Is this wishful thinking or just a careless ramble to deceive the gullible?... Do you have a slight idea the number of people who got employed by the boom in the banking industry, stock market and the telecommunications industry under OBJ?... Are you even aware the boom in the telecommunications industry is the singular factor which made Nigeria overtake SA as the largest economy in Africa?

What else do they want from President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan?
What we want from Jonathan is simple. He should show a little concern about the prevalent and unprecedented rate of corruption. The funds stolen fron NIgeria through corruption in the 5 years of Jonathan (because of his weakness to caution his cronies) is more than what was stolen from the country from 1979 till 2010. All we want is for him to show some concern about this cankerworm that has grown into an anaconda under his nose, not neessarily to eliminate it (cos that is not possible), but to at least just show concern and make efforts to 'reduce' it. All his attempts to develop the country without any effort to check corruption is just like attemping to fetch water with a basket. That is why even though we have a growing economy, we also have growing poverty, unemployment and depleting reserves, devalued Naira and astronomically increasing debts. The only true evidence of our growing economy is the almost 1000% increase in number of private jet owners, so sad!

I am happy that you have finally taken the discussions in the very manner it ought to be taken.
Let me enlighten you to a little fact which might be responsible for the paranoia which you accused us of being. Ndigbo as an ethnic group have a special history in this country called nigeria. We have a history that is peculiar to us; a history which we share with none but ourselves alone. So it is very normal if we are always observing what other ethnic group think or do about us. And if we get edgy on national issues that involves one of us, it is simply because we as Ndigbo have that special history which I spoke of, and thus we must always watch out for one of our own. Because as you yourself pointed out, all eyes are on us, and when all eyes are on you it breeds hatred, fear&jealousy and many other vicious activities that hatred breeds. When people talk about Igbos playing the victim card, I look at them and tell them I don't blame them. I don't blame them because they have no idea of what we have been through as Ndigbo. I really have to stop here because am getting really tensed up talking about what we have witnessed as Ndigbo in Nigeria. But I must say one thing and I want you bear that in mind; Nigeria may strive but never will be successful except the Igbo Man is given his rightful place in this entity called Nigeria.
I pointed out a very sour tasting precedence where even dishonourable characters were defended unnecessarily all because they were Igbo; an act which does not tell well of Ndigbo at all. You also buttressed my worry in your original statement when you alluded that there were 'campaigns of calumny' against certain Igbos. In my own convictions, I don't believe those individuals were singled out 'because they were Igbo' (as many Igbos claim), this was purely just the same Igbo paranoia playing out because not only Igbos were affected by cabinet reshuffles and the deposed Igbos were replaced by Igbos to maintain the quota system.

What annoys me however is why we have to openly throw our weight behind a person 'who is caught' in malpractice. Even if we must defend our people, it should be done covertly and not in full glare of the world.
Politics › Re: If Buhari Was An Igbo Man by obailala(m): 12:14pm On Feb 13, 2015
lazsnaira:
Irrespective of where you come from, the question I want everyone to answer is this: 'If Buhari was an Igbo man?'
Being an Igbo doesn't necessarily mean that you are really awake to the plight of your people. Afterall history had it that the Biafra war was lost due largely to the activities of saboteurs among Ndigbo. Just as you have pointed out earlier that Igbos suffer more victimisation from fellow Igbos. So let us not derail from the main question of this discuss which is 'if Buhari was an Igbo man?'
In my initial response, I tried to answer your question. If Buhari was Igbo, he definitely wouldn't have received the kind of support he receives today and there are clear reasons for that.

Firstly, it is not contestable that the northerners support GMB primarily because he is one of their own so if Buhari was Igbo, the northerners wouldn't support him for obvious reasons, to be clear, the northerners will only massively support their own. With the north out of this discussion, it leaves us with the SW, SS and Middle Belt.

It is a known fact in Nigeria that other ethnic nationalities are threatened by the exceptional potentials, industry and eventual dominating attitude of the Igbos. Wherever you find Igbos, they always diligently and smartly work their way to the top and over the years this has attracted both envy, sheer resentment and in some cases, pure hate by other ethnic nationalities (people tend to hate the player instead of hating the game). Remember, this led to the hatred the Northerners had and still harbour for Igbos since even before independence which eventually led to the war. Even though the SW, SS and MB also share this resentment, it is only to a very mild and cautious degree unlike what the northerners have for us. However, some of our actions and open show of paranoia, senseless clannishness especially in recent times will make even a Delta Igbo man sceptical about supporting a core Igbo.

The recent repulsive clannishness of some (if not majority) of Igbos in this present administration especially as it concerns our shameless defence of certain people and actions 'all because they are Igbo' does not in any way help our public image. A good example was the Stella Oduah case, a person who was caught red handed illegally engaging in extra-budgetary expenses at over-inflated costs. In a split and thoughtless second, a lot of misguided Igbos shamelessly kicked off a nationwide defence of the woman irrespective of her offence and they made it clear to all that she was being supported 'simply because she was Igbo.' Then we had the case of the Australian negotiator alleging that Gen Ihejirika was complicit in the BH saga; this was a case which could not be substantiated by any means but instead of leaving the General to thrash out this silly allegation, instead of waiting to even hear the full story, Igbos again instantly jumped into defence making it very clear he was being defended 'simply because he was Igbo. How do you expect the SW, SS or MB to support us with such brazen show of clannishness?

Now you allege that a number of Igbos in prominent positions were removed after what you term, 'campaigns of calumny' and this is the exact senseless paranoid mentality displayed by most Igbos (since this administration) which will ensure that we will never be trusted by others. You say Igbos were removed from office and I ask, were the allegations against these individuals true or false?... Are you not bothered that someone is caught pants down in some form of malpractice but yet you wish the person should be 'allowed' to continue because he/she is Igbo?... You even scream this in public to the hearing of other ethnic minorities and you expect them to take us serious?...

Again I ask, for those Igbos removed from office, who were they replaced with?... Were they not replaced with fellow Igbos?... Since the reign of GEJ, is it only Igbo ministers or heads of parastatals that have been removed?... The other ethnic nationalities who had their people removed, did they take to the streets to protest removal from office of their brother like we are doing?... Dont you think other ethnic Nationalities would be irritated by our senseless paranoia and clannishness; always thinking that the world is out to harm us?!... What if every other ethnic nationality begins to act the way we act?... Do you think that is healthy for society?

A few prominent Igbos who have tried to point out this our thoughtlessness in recent times have been labelled as lost souls (efulefu). Is this the way you think we can gain the trust of others?

Finally I leave you once again with my original question, "if GEJ was Hausa-Fulani Muslim, would we have supported him and painted him as a Messiah sent directly to rescue us by God?"

This is just a question that I have decided to ask, because I am disturbed as an Igbo man about the fate of my people Ndigbo in this country Nigeria. I have watched with envy how the candidacy of Buhari is being propagated, in fact, almost being shoved down our throats, by both Yorubas and HausaFulanis. And I can't stop asking myself again and again; "Supposed Buhari was an Igbo man, would he have enjoyed that sort of support?" Of course the answer is NO! And that NO is not only a sad and disheartening truth, it also serves to remind me as an Igbo man how much my country loves me. Sometime ago there were some Igbos in prominent positions in Jonathan's cabinet, but then one after the other, a campaign of calumny was instituted against them and to save his own head Jonathan had to remove them one after the other. The Issue of Boko Haram and how the military has failed to curtail the Islamic militants onslaught against innocent Nigerians has been constant in the mainstream media without anyone ever calling for the resignations of all the military chiefs who actually almost all are from the northern part of the country. And I am like, if these military chiefs and security advisers were from the eastern part of the country, would the media act like they've forgotten their existence as they are doing now? Probably I am the only one who notices the sort of abnormal disparity that comes up when a national issue has an Igbo person over it. The only time a person of Igbo descent, in high national office, enjoys the sort of support Buhari enjoys from Yorubas and HausaFulanis is whenever these same people have dug a hole of negativity around that Igbo personage. Unknowingly to them, history will always stare us all in the face, to remind us all of how badly we have treated our brother OR neighbour. Call me whatever name you deemed fit but I will continue to observe the place of my people in a country I supposed my own.
You claim there were some Igbos in Jonathan's cabinet who were removed and I ask, were they replaced by people from Ghana or were they replaced by fellow Igbos? - This first question exposes the folly in your senseless ramblings.

Did Jonathan change the national character and pick more Igbos than past Nigerian leaders?

For the previous governments of IBB, Abacha, OBJ etc, did they not also observe the national character when selecting ministers?... or did they skip Igbo states and appoint Camerounians?

What is all this silly talk about Jonathan appointing Igbos as if previous governments did not also employ the same number of Igbos?

How can a whole race of people be so confused in this simple observation?

Ministers involved in one malpractice or the other and who were disgracing the Igbos were forced out and eventually replaced with fellow Igbos. Yet some silly characters begin to spread thoughtless propaganda saying Igbos are being removed from government. Where is the common sense?

You better throw away this your senseless feeling of paranoia, open your closed eyes and tell yourself the truth. The worst victimization Igbos face today is perpetrated by fellow Igbos. Our silly collective attitude of playing the victim and openly defending prominent Igbos who disgrace themselves in the corridors of power is the only reason why non-Igbos will continue to distrust us.

..ANd just like a poster above me asked, what if GEJ was an Hausa Muslim. Would you still want to die for him the way you are doing now?

How on earth did this make front page?

something is definitely wrong somewhere.
I know this was mistakenly sent to front page, kindly retrieve
One man's meat is another's poison, that's why there are several topics on the frontpage for you to pick from depending on what appeals to you. Live and let live!

Contrary to your opinion, I think some topics like this should be placed on the frontpage for a much needed comic relief. I embarrassingly laughed so hard while reading this in the office this morning and I think this is surely a good tonic to start my day. grin

The thoughtless postponement of the elections on Saturday is beginning to have a damaging effect on investor confidence with a devastating effect on our economy and the value of the Naira.

Just last Friday, it was N285 to £1. Yesterday it was N304 to £1. Today it has leaped to N312 to £1. shocked shocked shocked

The Naira is taking a unprecedented free fall and at this rate, it might just get to N300 per $1 and N400 per £1.

So much for economic growth... God Help Us!!!!!
