Redoil:Where did you get this information? |
1MCN:Haha! Shelf life is simply an advisory time limit within which it is best to use an item. The shelf life of an item is usually denoted by a 'best before' date. So if you observe the repeated use of the word 'best,' it means the item is still usable but it wouldn't be as effective or as good as it was when still within its shelf life. Now lets consider the other item in question. It was never valid at any point in time and was never meant to be used or even placed on a shelf because it isn't even worth a penny. Nigerians in 2011 decided to gamble expensively on an item which had no known value. After 5 years of trial, all uncertainties about this item's valueless status have been cleared and the item is confirmed to be worthless. It only makes sense that I go for an expired item with some salvage value than |
1MCN:Buhari may have lost his shelf life, but the big problem is, do we have an alternative in Jonathan?.. Absolute NO! Jonathan never even had a shelf life, that is the dilemma Nigerians are faced with at the moment. |
MRLINGTON:Uduaghan fall hand no be small. He simply brought shame to Itsekiri people |
Best: Godswill Akpabio Worst: Emmanuel Uduaghan It is however worthy of note that Akpabio stands out ONLY because of the SHEER QUALITY of his projects and not necessarily because he has done so much. He isn't so wonderful when you consider the enormous revenue he receives monthly. Furthermore, his projects are mainly in urban areas and we have no idea what he has done in the villages. Finally, building roads and flyovers may just not be the only job description of a governor; what about human capital development? I don't think anybody in Aba for instance (which is the closest city) would be considering relocating to Uyo or Ikot-Ekpene ONLY because of good roads. |
urchbarbie:For the same reason to be given all the time, it means men take it seriously... and to answer your question, Yes! it is a basic need of life (at least for men). Remember, there is always a limit to which a person can keep on begging for something, especially when the same thing could be gotten from elsewhere. A word is enough! |
Imagine the strange lengths ladies go to to deprive their men of a basic necessity of life. Very soon the man would get fed up of asking and of course, the girl next door would be readily available as a substitute. ...and then the next Nairaland thread title from a hurting lady would be, "All Men Are the Same" Issorait! |
Who told Her Excellency Mama P that she would have the freedom to take food to her husband in prison?... It is very likely she may even be the one in prison while Mr Goodluck takes food to her ![]() |
emmalezy:When it was reported by some websites (sahara reporters etc) that these towns had been taken over by BH, I remember many people saying it was a lie and apc propaganda. Now they are reporting military liberation of a town that was never in captivity. Nigeria na wa! Kudos to the military! #March4Buhari |
DaJulee:The only reason why Buhari would win isn't because he is wonderful, it is simply because Jonathan has desecrated and ridiculed the office of the presidency with his weakness, unparalleled love for corruption and his utter cluelessness. Nigeria today is a laughing stock of every other nation (including other African nations). |
Eden007:The black man is naturally servile, always willing to be submissive even under the most ridiculous circumstances and to the most ridiculous people all for the most ridiculous reasons. I'm sure Esau in the bible must have been a black man; selling his birthright and inheritance for a bowl of yam porridge sounds very much like what the Op is suggesting here. @Op, is conducting elections the only job role and responsibility of the president?... Are you suggesting that because a man did fairly in conducting the 2011 elections, then that is a good enough reason to mortgage the lives of 160 million people to him for a further 4 years? Be reminded, GEJ was certainly poised to win the 2011 election due to the massive goodwill he enjoyed from the masses so judging him based on that election is totally out of place. If we must judge GEJ's ability and fairness in conducting elections, then we must consider the Anambra elections where opposition chieftains were locked up in their hotel rooms all day by the SSS and also in the Ekiti elections where opposition chieftains were also barred from getting into the state by soldiers (#EkitiGate and the audio recording saga is still fresh in our minds); lest I forget, the governors forum election where Nigerians were insulted to our faces with the arithmetic that 16 was greater than 19. ..And also before you allow yourself to be deceived further by the humble smiles of the man Jona (who ironically is not even the one leading this country), may I enlighten you that the reason Jonathan has not totally subverted the 2015 elections to his favour is because for the first time in our democracy, we now have a powerful opposition that cannot be intimidated or crippled easily. That the opposition is made up largely of former members of PDP is also another reason why PDP finds it difficult to subvert electoral processes since the APC presently knows everything the PDP knows (rigging tactics et al). The masses are also very much informed today due to the social media boom (and not FOI as many people erroneously and ignorantly allude). |
PassingShot:..in addition, PTF was the only federal parastatal (in the past and till date) which constantly published its financial statement on national dailies without being prompted to do so by anybody. ACCOUNTABILITY! (Something we totally lack in Nigeria) |
The reasoning of many Nigerians in this political season is really appalling. Since the 80's, even a child in Nigeria knows that the Nigerian Army specifically is the most corrupt institution in the nation. In fact the Nigerian Army introduced corruption to our society. It is rather disheartening that all because of politics, anyone in recent times (2010 till date) who dares to mention that the NA is corrupt is believed to be APC. May this election just come and go! |
kingslly:Awarding oil blocks (or any other government contract at all) through competitive bidding, isn't that suppose to be a good thing?... Isn't that suppose to be progress?... Most times I feel really lost when I argue with some of my compatriots cos I don't really understand what most people want. So if you insinuate that it is the northerners that have the resources to extract the oil from the blocks, what is your wise suggestion in this matter?.... that the oil blocks should be given to people whom you agree do not have the resources to drill them?.. People who will simply collect the blocks without a bid and eventually sell it to the qualified people who actually have the resources and then make billions in gains illegally for just being friends of the president. Is that the tradition you are supporting to be perpetuated with your argument?.... ![]() Are you supporting the idea that contracts should be given to people who have no qualifications or skills or experience or tools to accomplish it because they are friends or kinsmen of the president? ![]() Finally I think whether we admit openly or not, what most Nigerians of southern extraction who support Jonathan want is for the corrupt and lawless status-quo of anarchy to remain. The idea driving this is summarised below: "the northerners have been plundering Nigerians for many decades... it is now the turn of southerners to plunder Nigeria and we must complete our turn of the plunder before we can permit any positive development or reforms.... no matter how good the suggestion is to better our society, we reject it in totality until we complete our turn of plundering the nation" |
This is a good development. Hope we see it commissioned pretty soon. |
Imanuelle:As an Imo son, I can say authoritatively that these are certainly not my people too |
From the responses on this thread so far, it is clear most Nigerians are just myopic and dumb. This is a very good development and I still can't understand how so many people in their paranoia have suddenly interpreted this as a plot to favour the north. How dumb can people possibly be? The non-producing host community inclusion is a very good initiative and it is strictly a Niger delta issue. There are countless communities which have flow-stations, oil depots and several pipelines running through their lands within the Niger Delta which suffer the same oil pollution and have their air, soil and water irreversibly polluted. However when compensation comes, they aren't regarded as 'producing' communities and hence are left out. These non-producing host communities have protested this for too long and it is only sensible to consider this initiative as it would save a lot of brewing conflicts within the ND region. I just cant understand why anyone thinks this has anything to do with the north. As for stripping the powers of the president to discretionally share oil blocks to his friends, this is a very wonderful initiative which would reduce the do-or-die nature of politicking to get to the presidency. This is something that should have been done since 1999 but a lot of people myopically think that this is an aboki plot to stop Jonathan. What these people do not consider in their myopia is that if GEJ shares the blocks to his friends this year, in 4 years time when he hands over to a northerner, the northerner would revoke all the blocks and share to his friends and the cycle of madness continues this way for life. Nipping this senseless trend is something that should be done ASAP. |
God help us!... if robbers could be so daring to rob in a busy place in a city like Lagos, what is the fate of people in other parts of the country? ![]() |
charles009:Take heart bro.. but do not let the actions of this harlot stop you from being a person with a good heart |
luckylucky:As long as the retrogressive federal character principle exists, whether the south has 100 million professors, if the north has only waec holders, the northerners would also get the same job. Unfortunately because of the same federal character principle, more northerners would even be employed than southerners because there are more states in the north. |
deletrue:No doubt, Hausas always look out for their brothers and always take a large chunk of the cake, but that is because the southerners will never be united in a reasonable way. I personally have not seen any sign that GEJ is doing or will do anything to change this trend, hence my statement that I rather be ruled by a Pharaoh than leave my welfare in the hands of my good for nothing brother. Back to the topic, northerners may have made up a large chunk of the recruits, but its definitely not 80%; candidates would have been taken from all states/regions of the federation in line with the federal character principle and remember, the federal character principle always favours northerners (not necessarily Hausas as we always allege) because they have more States. |
Please what is PULSE? ![]() |
Jackeeh:@Op Which senators are these and which house of assembly is this?.. Nigeria has only the green chambers and the red chambers from what I know but the chairs on your picture are neither green nor red. Please run down here and explain yourself! |
mumumugu:This was mean ![]() |
Rockstar07:That claim cannot be real, at least not the 80% figure.... How can 80% northerners be employed in a federal govt institution in Warri?... If you tell me some Urhobo youths from Uvwie are protesting because only a few of their indigenes were employed, I would understand but that is simply because it's a federal institution where persons from all over Nigeria would be recruited. But to tell me it is 80% hausa, that is pure trash |
PLEXPLEX:Can you please just shut up! Jonathan has been there for over 5 years he but didnt make any single attempt to change the ugly federal character trend but now you expect me to believe Jonathan will suddenly repent IF he is re-elected to power?.... GEJ only empowered the same old thieving southern politicians and then extended the blessings to creek criminals in the likes of Asari Dokubo and Gen Shoot at Sight. God forbid bad thing! I would rather have a Pharaoh from Egypt ruling over me than have my slowpoke brother being in charge of my welfare. By the way, all the members of the board of directors in PTI are southerners, the president of NIgeria is a southerner, the petroleum minister is a southerner and you expect me to believe that a federal institution conducted a recruitment in Warri and employed 80% northerners?... That is absolute rubbish talk typical of what we hear from demented people like Fayose or FFK. ..And again going by the pictures of people protesting on that picture, they all look like street urchins. Are these the people you expect to be employed into positions even without a single formal or vocational qualification?... We know Uvwie youths to be the worst set of touts and I wouldn't be surprised if some of those youths would be protesting that PTI pays them 'deve' a.k.a development levy or just give them monthly stipends because PTI is sited on their land. |
The questions I ask are: What has Jonathan done to change this trend in the past 5 years?... Nothing What will Jonathan do to change this trend IF he continues in office?... Nothing So what this have to do with the coming elections?... Jonathan simply entered power and started frolicking with the same old vampires that have kept us backwards. From the south, which people has Jonathan empowered?... Nobody but the same set of politicians who joined forces with the so called northerners to keep us backwards. The next set of people empowered by Jonathan are the creek criminals; Tompolo, Ateke, Asari, Boyloaf, Shoot at Sight etc. Jonathan being a south-south president should have been the best chance we had at changing this retrogressive trend but in his nonchalance, weakness, love for corruption and cluelessness, GEJ has ended up just being a waste of space and a disgrace to the south. Since Jonathan met this ugly trend and hasn't made any move to change it, come March 28th, Jonathan must go back to Otueke; I am sure with less corruption under a GMB government, this trend (even though GMB is a northerner) would be eased a bit unlike under a ghost southern GEJ. |
psucc:Silly question. Any sane Nigerian should be worried why of the thousands of qualified PDP loyalists, the president insists on appointing as minister, a man that has just been recently tarnished with a fresh scandal. I just wonder when GEJ would have a sound mind enough to realise that it is actions like these that have continuallly eroded his credibility for the past 5 years. Since when has it become the exclusive responsibility of APC to question such dishonorable acts by the president? ..And now your silly brain thinks anyone who questions such a careless act by the president must be an APC spokesperson ![]() |
Niwdog:But seriously, putting politics of APC vs PDP aside for once, are you happy as a Nigerian that of all the thousands of people within the PDP that could have been selected, the president chose to appoint a man with a freshly looming scandal? Are you really comfortable and pleased with this development?... or is your joy just based on the fact that the APC guys were silenced? |
purplesummer:Not when the contents of the documentaries are PURE LIES which would only be disproved probably after the elections (when the intended damage has already been accomplished) It's just like someone coming after you with a knife but instead of defending yourself or running away, you foolishly choose to stand and watch because you know you are innocent. You will probably prove your innocence from 6 feet deep. |
Objektive:Is this a misplaced quote by you or have you run out of your mind?... You just quoted me and made this comment but I still can't understand how your comment is related to what I said. |
