Politics › Re: Shehu Sani Reveals Those Responsible For North Problems by obailala(m): 10:08am On Sep 29, 2014
The man must be very silly... What does he mean by GEJ's sectional leadership and neglect of the North?... These are the kind of nonsensical statements that create and promote ethnic and religious discord.

I am yet to see how the presidency of GEJ is benefiting any section of the country more than others... or how any section of the country is being neglected while other sections are being blessed.

In my opinion, the administration of Jonathan benefits ONLY political leaders (from all sections of the country)

NgeneUkwenu: Useless and hungry professor looking to share from the 20Billion Dollars Stolen by the corrupt-faced jonadafft!

At least Allow the unserious party do their thing professor mumu.
You have just exposed your idiocy with this your quick and senseless response. I see no reason why you had to insult the professor or even accuse him of having ulterior motives. Did you even read the report before you typed your response??

I (and I believe many Nigerians) share the views and frustrations expressed in the words of the prof. It is no news that the presidency of Jonathan is a disaster and some hope of redemption was kindled with the formation of APC last year. Unfortunately, we have but a few months to general elections and the APC still has not gotten its house together; this is definitely a depressing situation for anyone who wishes to see Jonathan leave the presidency next year...
Politics › Re: I Will Crush Boko Haram —jonathan by obailala(m): 4:01pm On Sep 28, 2014
PRESIDENT Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, yesterday, at the South-south Unity Party of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held in Benin-City, vowed that his administration will crush Boko Haram exactly the way it fought Ebola virus disease.
Huh? angry
Am I the only one seeing this rubbish in the first sentence?...
How exactly did the administration of Jonathan fight ebola?
Was it by releasing N1.9billion Naira which according to the health minister was meant for the purchase of cars (seems the FG money never got to the ebola treatment centres) or was it by building an ebola treatment center in kuje which I am sure may even not yet be complete by now?... Or maybe it was by owing the volunteer health workers their allowances even after they put their lives on the line to save Nigerians..

If the FG intends to fight BH exactly the way it responded and reacted to the ebola issue, then I'm afraid we have a big problem.

I hate when they rename institutions after people in a bid to honour them. By the way, what about the other health workers who lost their lives protecting Nigerians?... Was it only Dr Stella that fought ebola?... We need to stop trivializing the lives of other Nigerians all because they are not 'important' personalities.

I'm not surprised at this allegation because it didn't make sense at all that the Reps would just think the scandal isn't worth discussing. I don't believe the Reps are so silly to think that way. The only reasonable explanation is that their conscience had been bought.

whatsmyname: To whom it may concern

I have taken my time to read the front page of this story and to say the least, it is quite shameful and alarming that folks still abound in this country who reason the way the front page commentators do. Most of these individuals who have commented on the front page appear to me to be youthful in age, some of which I believe attended higher institutions of learning in this country or elsewhere. My question is: if youngsters can be reasoning this way, does Nigeria still have a future at all?

I see comments like "wetin be my biz", "thief collect am, thief carry am", "all these our polithiefcians sef" to mention just few.

Most of the negative reports and news that I receive on daily basis either in the dailies or online really make me sick in the stomach. From the Federal Government trying to cover up its corrupt practices both nationally and internationally to the happenings in the National Assembly. From the rot in the NNPC where nobody says anything about anymore since after Sanusi's attempt to draw our attention to it had been stifled by the FG itself to the happenings in our churches.

Food for thought! Do we still have rational, right thinking, intelligent, smart and responsible youths in this country; or it is just on Nairaland that I get to see people who reason like this?
Yes we still have rational, right thinking, intelligent, smart and responsible youths but unfortunately, they make up a microscopic minority and the positivity they radiate is usually drowned by the idiocy which surrounds them.

Adyrin: Where is the EFCC/ICPC group?
I thought both parties involved in bribery are guilty of the crime?

Justice in dis forsaked country is for the poor!
Did you just say ICPC?... The last time I heard of them, their oga in solidarity with GEJ, re-echoed that stealing wasn't actually the same thing as corruption tongue

Did you also ask of EFCC?.. Theirs is even worse. The last I heard of EFCC was some days back when they arraigned about 4 or 5 fishermen whom they arrested for fishing in international waters lipsrsealed

Those 2 organisations can ONLY function if their oga ontop ontop (GEJ) gives them the go ahead (or freedom) to perform and as we all know, the big oga doesn't give a damn.

I don't trust the US but that is not to say I trust this our sleazy lying and shameless Nigerian government.

Reading through the report however, the US has not really denied the accusation. The New York media editor's statement that Israel cannot sell what they don't use, that to me isn't really a denial from the US; it's just a smart diversion from the main question.

FlyboyZee: Have you ever heard the Chinese President or Pm or even the Swiss PM speak English? My guy you go dodge. GEJ does that so that you and your ilk will have something to be talking about for a while, while he gets busy with his presidential duties. Gov. Fayemi wey na confirmed grammarian, how far with am? Its not by what he speaks to the press, its by what he is actually doing behind the scenes that is moving Nigeria on. Just like OBJ said then, that people should beat his pictures if thats the one thing that would make them happy. Where were you then? Mr. Pesident's English Grammer/Speech Fault Finder.
Hahaha... cheesy grin

Bro, what do you know we are talking about?... Who is referring to English grammar here?... Chaii!

it's obvious you don't even understand what the Op is talking about and maybe you just read only the title and the first sentence before jumping to comment cheesy

The issue here is why a president and C-in-C who is the chief security office of the nation would openly say/agree that mere journalists would be more up to date with such sensitive information than himself.

I know you may still be wondering why such a statement is an anomaly but imagine you hire a security man to guard your compound and while sleeping in your bedroom, you are awakened by the deafening sound of a gun.. You call you security man inside to get some info on what's going on outside and he tells you, "Oga I'm not sure... you would even know better than me"

Simple and plainly put, a king, president or any leader whatsoever shouldn't be making such utterances; it makes him look incompetent.
Politics › Re: Chronicles Of Senator David Mark's Achievements Part I by obailala(m): 1:50pm On Sep 24, 2014
Sycophancy at it's best...

Under David Mark, Nigeria has had the most passive and by extension, the most useless senate since 1999... When last did anyone in Nigeria hear any news from the red chambers?

Under the corruption-friendly administration of GEJ and the passive senate leadership of David Mark, it seems all our senators have just decided to sit back, relax and loot as much as they can. Also there seems to be a unanimous decision in the senate (even inclusive of the APC guys) to just support the re-election of GEJ knowing fully well that the business of chilling and looting has never been so easy and pleasurable as it currently is under the amiable administration of uncle Johnny.

SirElaw: When speaking to journalists on the rumoured death of the boko haram islamic sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, President Goodluck Jonathan says "we can't be sure, you journalists would even know more than us". I'm guessing "us" in his statement refers to the government, the federal government to be precise which every security agency in this country should report to. I feel this is a very misplaced and misguided statement.
In times of security crisis like that caused by the boko haram sect in the North, we expect our security agencies to be on top of their game in the area of information gathering.
It is simply unheard of that journalists would have the upper hand in this area. It's one of two things, it's either the statement is true, if this doesn't send shivers down your spine in realisation of the current level of un-preparedness in the fight against this insurgency, I don't know what else will. Or, the statement is wrong, in which case Mr. President shouldn't have made such a declaration. #GodBlessNigeria
P.S: I couldn't get a source to support my claim of Mr. President making that statement as I heard it as an audio clip on a radio station but I got an article online of him making a similar statement
http://dailypost.ng/2014/05/05/chibok-kidnap-journalist-dont-know-girls-jonathan/
This isn't the first time GEJ has committed such a blunder... He said something similar in a media chat sometime ago. Considering the fact that he's already synonymous with blunders, I think this one can just be overlooked... You don't really want the wrath of his sycophants do you?

GozieDiora: You see, democracy as we know can never favour everyone. Instead, it tends to conform to the majority principle. Anyone that claims he is an advocate of democracy must accept it in its full nature not just in times when it favours him cause it will never always favour him. It is not just about who is right as regards the proposed debate, APC has exhibited inexcusable disregard for democratic procedures and it goes a long way to give a picture of the type of government they intend to bring on board. You talked about people revolting when decisions are not taken in their favour as if it's an acceptable norm; what would you say if in future, your dear party imposes a law on you regardless of the public stand? Or do you think their decisions will always be in your favour? Why not check their bad tendencies now for your future gain?

On the other hand, it beats my imagination why such a case shouldn't worth thorough debate. I'm not a party oriented person but let's call a spade a spade; in as much as APC played it real bad, I actually agree with their stand in this matter. Our government is becoming more like a gathering of vultures and I'd be fooling myself pledging support for any of the parties. Let's not be fast to forget the old PDP. They are chameleons. APC is not any better. So why would I spend my time spear heading their propaganda online. ..........

I just hope we don't have those paid internet warriors here cause it would be pointless responding to their posts.

Cheers!
Agreed, APC lawmakers may have been unruly in this case but just like every other civil protest, that may just have been the most expedient option to raise an awareness to this issue (instead of engaging in brawls or fisticuffs). Judging from the history of our nation, I can bet my last buck that without such an 'unruly' action, this issue would NEVER be discussed in the house until it is totally forgotten.

Anyway at this time, my concern isn't the legitimacy of the actions of the lawmakers, my real concern as a Nigerian is why there are so many people out there who do not think it is necessary to discuss such a sensitive issue.

Billyonaire: I know a lot about Democracy, far more than your paymasters. That's why I was able to make a better decision to support an elite intelligent party than a mere habitat of Islamists. The issue of arms purchase is sensitive and national security. The lawmakers know that, so its been shelved for the sake of Nigeria Unity. But you can cry, like your mentor Buhari, or bend and shake hands with symbols of Boko Haram, like Tinubu.
Oh!.. I had no idea I was even responding to a paid agent. Good luck in your paradise!
Politics › Re: $9.3m: APC Reps Walk Out During House Debate by obailala(m): 3:58pm On Sep 23, 2014
Billyonaire: APC walked out because they hate Democracy. If in a voice vote, the majority won, why would a party that calls itself 'Progressive', walk out. This is an indication that APC is walking out of Democracy, I am sure they love Sharia. I hate these barbarians with a passion.

Democracy must defeat j.a.n.j.a.w.eed minority. So mote it be.
What do you know about democracy?

In every democracy, people have a right to protest and the APC lawmakers have simply exercised that right...

At this point, any sensible Nigerian should be asking why a very sensitive issue which is presently tarnishing Nigeria's image internationally should not be debated or discussed by the house. Any sensible Nigerian should be worried that a majority of their representatives have trivialised this issue which is bringing us international embarrassment.

A situation which makes the entire leadership of Nigeria (and in fact, the entire Nigerian citizens) look like crooks in the international scene... Christianity Etc › Re: Is The Expression, "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves Biblical"? by obailala(m): 5:12pm On Sep 21, 2014
Mbediogu: It is implied in many places. St Paul tells us that faith without work is dead. There is also the parable of the two servant, narrated by Christ Himself.
In addition, there's the parable of the 10 virgins; 5 helped themselves with extra oil but the remaining 5 were foolish and lazy and we all know the end result.

As a matter of fact, "God helps those who help themselves" has to be one of the most important and most repeated messages in the bible. I am really surprised there are people who doubt this undecided
Christianity Etc › Re: Is The Expression, "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves Biblical"? by obailala(m):
It's really ridiculous that there are a lot of people who think the statement is not biblical.. As a matter of fact, it seems to be one of the most important of all the messages contained in the bible. It is also a basic principle of common sense that a lazy person would definitely go hungry. I wonder why people expect everything to be spelt out literally as if they are kindergaten pupils. I think the reason most people assume this statement to be unbiblical is because they erroneously assume the phrase "help themselves" to mean indulging in illegitimate things.

Benjamin Franklin may have coined the statement ,"God helps those who help themselves" and there is a similar statement of latin origins, "Laborare est orare (to work is to pray)." However, the message conveyed by these statements is very very biblical and there are countless cases in the bible where work was expected to accompany faith for favourable results to be achieved. I would just mention one verse:

James 2:14

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

What has this topic got to do with APC or even politics?
What has a collapsed church guest house got to do with Muslims?
What has a plane circulating the air and awaiting final clearance to land at a closeby airport got to do with terrorism?
How can a building erected without structural approval and probably a poorly reinforced foundation be expected to stand?
My common sense tells me I need to exhaust all physical explanations or possibilities before I start thinking a misfortune could be spiritual.

Nigeria is just a shithole full of dumb arses... It would take much more than certificate education for Nigerians to begin to think and act properly
