eddiebruk: Why should a whole state be relying on funds from FG, it is only when they want something that's when they cry foul, but when the FG wants something from them, they call it oppression and suddenly want the FG out of state issue, deal with it with state funds, you might get the funds promised by the FG but don't hope.
The issue is not about state govt relying on FG, afterall the state govt has already used its own funds to sort the issue.. but the FG has already promised 200m... now the issue is an issue of accountability on d part of the FG.

If only u will remove the politics log from ur eyes it should be clear to u that the issue raised here is on the accountability of the FG, something we never care about in Nigeria

May God deliver the black man from sheer ignorance and pure stupidity...

Common sense combined with a little education tells me the structure was weak and probably built on a weak foundation. It was a disaster waiting to happen all these while and the sound of the flying object simply introduced a little vibration in the area which caused the structure to crumble. There are even reports the building had only 2 floors until it was upgraded to 5 or 6. The question sensible people should ask is if the foundation was capable of carrying up to 5 floors (I'm sure it wasn't).

I would have assumed the people commenting on Nairaland are at least educated to know these little things but instead I can already see several comments swallowing and supporting the illiterate theory of 'spiritual attack by a strange flying object.'

As usual, this case will be dismissed as spiritual and the engineers handling the project would not be arrested and punished. Just the same way we keep having poorly maintained planes falling off our skies and instead of punishing anyone, you hear people in authority spitting out gibberish like "it was an act of God."

Sometimes I wonder what we use our education for... Most people think education is just about getting a white paper with which they would get into a high paying job. God help us!

New day, new denial... Even though I do not still believe this second attempt at damage control by the presidency, I must say it is a better and more coherent explanation than the first silly stories shared by Reuben Abati yesterday that "GEJ just bumped into Sheriff at the airport"...

Sometimes however, silence is golden. I would not subscribe to the presidency admitting that it committed a blunder but all these responses and denials aimed at damage control are unnecessary. Nigerians forget very easily and if not for the senseless denials popping in daily from the presidency, this issue would have been long forgotten by now...

A military officer said that only the APC, which most likely carried a senior boko haram militant, was able to escape towards Bama.

The issue isn't who the front seat actually belongs to... Rather if a GF who hasn't been married yet can be this domineering to the extent of commanding the sister who was already seated at the front to step out, haba! shocked .. There's nothing right about this girl

Which ended been a big fight and they caused a really big scene. Who do i support?
For such trivial nonsense to actually become an issue, I feel very sorry for you... Common girlfriend that hasn't been married claiming this kind of right is beyond my imagination.. and to even think that the GF actually started the squabble?.. Even if it was the other way round and the sister initiated the disagreement, a reasonable GF would humbly go to the back seat for peace to reign, knowing full well that the front seat belongs to her and the guys sister wouldn't be there always... In summary, you have a very unreasonable and immature GF whose present behaviour has all the trappings of a nagging and controlling wife..

He just came casually to greet the president and he was allowed into the chambers where GEJ was having a security meeting with the Chadian president??... Of all the people that make up the presidents entourage he only chose to walk into the meeting with a person who gatecrashed?... not just anyone but actually a person who has always been a prime suspect?...

Be honest to yourself, do you belief that trash?... you dont have to answer my questions
Politics › Re: I Didn't Travel To Chad With Sheriff, Says Jonathan by obailala(m): 9:49am On Sep 12, 2014
Whether GEJ invited Sheriff or whether Sheriff invited himself, it is a blunder of monumental proportions for the president to be seen in public hobnobbing with someone under investigation for terrorism... Everyday I wonder who even advises GEJ or how the man reasons; He always acts, then later goes back to think of his actions... How can a person like this be a president of such a great nation?

The people always supporting every action and inaction of Jonathan even when it is clearly indefensible, I wonder how you guys actually sleep at night or how you actually reason undecided

unic: We really have bunch of dumb ass on this forum, has anyone accusing GEJ taken a look at the legs of Sheriff as seated to understand that the picture could have been superimposed on that scene. Also, why is it that all the while this guy was in APC he was not a BH sponsor until now that he moved over to PDP? his been a BH sponsor came to light.
Very silly analysis... APC photoshopped a picture and gives to Reuben Abati to post online?.... Even the presidency in their denial did not say Sheriff wasn't there... How can you be this dumb and yet you are the one accusing others of being dumb? angry ... It has become very obvious that attempting to defend the indefensible actions of Jonathan just makes his supporters to think like infants

chudionu58: Please guy, if you or any other person can answer this very simple question(s) I will be very happy for the rest of the day even without eating!... 1.WHY WAS SHERIFF NOT ACCUSED OF TERRORISM SPONSORSHIP WHEN HE WAS IN THE APChuh? 2.DID HE JUST START SPONSORING TERROR AS SOON AS HE DECAMPED FROM THE APChuhhuh? just simple answers.
Stop asking silly questions which you should already know the answer.... If you are so ignorant of happenings in Nigeria you have google to check for information... Sheriff has always been a suspect and there has been calls by various groups for him to be arrested. GEJ being a weakling has never been able to arrest him and only recently, when the pressure from those calling for his arrest grew strong, he quickly joined PDP so he would never be prosecuted... Today Sheriff enjoys unlimited immunity from investigation or trial for being under the bosom of GEJ... GEJ even had to rub it in the faces of Nigerians by sitting down in an international security meeting with a suspected terrorist; thereby bringing shame to the office of the presidency and drawing up questions as to the political will of the president to fight terrorism.

Except you have wilfully decided to be an irredeemable dolt, my explanations should answer your questions and also let you understand why any sensible Nigerian should be saddened by this unholy romance.

I don't think the message posted by the Op is complete. However, taking a look at the BokoHaram situation, it is only a politically/ethnic/religiously biased and myopic person that cannot deduce that BH is a creation and machinery of politicians who presently belong to both the APC and PDP...

It is plain silly for anyone to just say BH is PDP or BH is APC...

The reason GEJ has not been able to tackle BH is because his ill advisers who make money out of every misfortune keep telling him that BH is his opposition APC and he totally swallows the rubbish and even comes to say it on TV without any evidence or conviction. This is just a self indictment of his leadership ability and a serious setback on his ability to crush BH.

The ONLY reason why our military is unable to destroy BH is because of corruption at the top... When Nigerian military goes for UN missions, they perform excellently but in Nigerian missions (where they get to control their budget themselves), corruption just like cancer eats away their might..

Nigerians on the other hand don't help matters as they ignorantly follow the deceivers (politicians)... A politician who is interested in his own pocket tells you the problem of Nigeria is the other politician and yet a lot of people myopically believe the deceivers and begin to fight themselves while the politicians embrace and loot on..

thunder74: What he is saying is that reports should be balanced and not one sided. Why reporting only when the Nigerian Army are down but turn blind eyes when they are up. Let me quote you in reverse, "imagine nobody tells us about the army's victories, we would have thought all was not well".
Naaa... on the contrary what he's saying is that the BH attacks should not be reported at all cos if reported, it instils fear in people and thereby boosts the morale of the terrorists...

Now I will attempt to answer your own concern which is why SR reports are usually imbalanced... Do you know what SR is?... Do you know what they stand for?... Do you know the idealogy behind SR?... Do you belong to the category of people who regard SR as a 'normal news' website and expect them to report 'normal news' professionally?

Since inception (right from Obasanjo's regime), SR has always been focussed on reporting only stories which no other media outfit dares to publish... and yes! their focus has always been on the filth of the government in power.... You don't expect them to report that a road has been fixed, they would only report the story when the road is bad... There are too many other media outfits out there to report when the road is fixed... Likewise in the case of BH, when the military takes over, besides the victory statement from the military spokesman, there are too many other media outfits in the country that would report the 'good news.' Just the same way you dont expect to see a healthy person in a hospital ward, you can't expect to see SR reporting 'good news.' Most of their stories even come from journalists and investigators working for the other mainstream media bodies but who dare not publish the sensitive stories. I hope I have been clear enough?

Ayed44: 'capture' has to do with occupation. Boko haram have no plan of occupying territories. They only go to towns where they would encounter minimal military resistance and cause maximum destruction and move on to the next vulnerable town.
In war situations, that is the definition of capture

shizzleStar: the point he made is very simple and doesn't need to be argued. Ok, coming to your capture and recapture ish, can you proffer an answer to this: why is sahara reporters always quick to report their is a capture, but hardly ever reports a recapture?

Many people are asking this question including this poster who commented after you>>
The question any wise person should be asking is if the report by SR is true or false... For once in Nigeria why can't we be more interested in what is true or not, instead of dwelling on the silly politics of "why is he saying this?"
Politics › Re: Military Reclaims Michika, Gulak, Uba Kills And Repels Insurgent From Vintim by obailala(m): 7:15pm On Sep 10, 2014
Ayed44: boko haram never took any town, don't give in to all the rubbish coming frm those corrupt media. What is happening is that boko haram would move to a vulnerable town and attack it and hold the civilians therein hostage until the military men would come and dislodge them. That is not taking a town.
So in your wisdom, if what you have written is not 'capture', then what is the definition of 'capture'?

Do you know all the reporters of sahara,do you know their interests?

Have you not heard or don't you know videos are doctored?

Nigerian army is not a news outlet, the army is pre-occupied with a war here, the least we can do is support them by boosting their morale and talking to the political actors to spend our money well so we see results.

coming online to demoralise them, you are doing the Nigerian army and the war against boko no good.

Do what is needful, what helps...there is a war going on out there, you need to support where you belong, not talking trash.
Just like I said earlier on this thread, choosing not to believe a story or not to report an ongoing atrocity does not automatically make the atrocity to stop... Also I do not see how informing people of an atrocity equates to being sympathetic with the perpetrators. Or are you saying the reports of BH taking over those cities is false?... If that is the case how come the military comes back the next day and tells us the cities have been re-captured?.. Do you have relatives or friends living in those troubled areas?... Do you have friends or relatives in the military?.. If you hear first hand stories of the atrocities going on presently in the northeast, you would weep and you wouldn't be here on Nairaland saying rubbish because you probably think this is politics of APC vs GEJ. We get to hear less than 10% of the real stories on the news and you suggest it should remain so?

Look, I agree with the logic of reporting less of the atrocities of BH and reporting more on the victories of the NA to boost the army morale. However, not reporting the atrocities of BH at all just like the FG has instructed Nigerian media is arrant nonsense... SR seems like the black sheep today because all other Nigerian media outfits have been gagged leaving SR to be the only ones reporting the 'bad news.' Imagine they didn't publish those reports at all, the entire Nigerian populace would have been smiling in their homes thinking everything is fine until a day when we would all be consumed... Whether you like it or not, Nigeria is in a full scale war against terrorists and I would rather be informed of what is going on than remain in absolute ignorance... They say ignorance is bliss but that is arrant nonsense when it comes to my security... If you choose to be ignorant, SO BE IT!!..

Not reporting bad news does not automatically solve the problem. Not reporting the atrocities of bokoharam will not automatically eliminate the existence of BH.

We sit in the comfort of our homes and choose not to hear or discuss the activities of BH but that does not change the fact that the common man living in the north-east faces hell every day. People in other areas of the country do not hear up to 10% of the atrocities of BH. The FG has forbidden all media organisations from reporting what's really happening over there in order not to 'boost the morale of the terrorists.' That may be a good decision, but for once, try and imagine you were from the north-east.

..And by the way, SaharaReporters isn't regulated by the govt, that's the reason why they seem to be the only ones carrying bad news... but just like I said, not reporting bad news does not automatically make things alright

If no cities fell to the terrorists as you would like to delusionally believe, then why is there a report that the military has re-taken the cities?... Can the military re-capture a city that never fell?
