Are Nairalanders so dumb to understand that it was a joke or is it the hatred for the man that is beclouding their reasoning? undecided
Romance › Re: Your Expectations For Valentine's Day by obailala(m): 8:09pm On Feb 08, 2013
ihebrooke: I expect the sun to rise and set!

valicious1: THIS VALENTINE BULLS.HIT is realLy making u guys MAD. ForGod's sake thats mY birthday & am not even as excited, curious & anxious as you guys are. There are more serious issues happening in Nigeria everyday that should make frontpage rather than you MODs continually haunting & taunting us with these valentine stories.
N.B - too much of everything is absolutely bad. There would always be valentine's day, this is not the 1st & would definitely not be the last Valentine's day that would come to pass.
fittty: Na wah oh..... These mods sef. Is valentines day going to be a public holiday? Seun why are your mods behaving childish. Why all these valentine bullsh*t on the front page. Are we secondary school students? Why all the hype about valentines day. Pls we need better topics on the front page

Some peeps are just too funny. If valentine's day is of no relevance to you, why bother opening this page? Are people so jobless these days? grin

Politics › Re: Northern Senators Meet Over Igbo Domination In Army by obailala(m): 11:40pm On Feb 04, 2013
Isn't it just strange that of all regions, the NORTH is complaining of another region dominating the army?

Would the North possibly ever lose its dominance of the Nigerian army even in the next 50 years?

Did any soul raise an eyebrow for the past 40 years when the North controlled the military and the oil industry (the 2 greatest cash reserves of the nation)?

The most annoying and debilitating aspect of this issue is that the Southerners would rather fight each other foolishly (Yoruba vs Igbo, South South vs South east, Ijaw vs Itsekiri etc) instead of coming together and identifying their common rivals. The battles we see everyday on Nairaland is just a true reflection of our society.
Politics › Re: CAN Cannot Guarantee El-Rufai’s Safety Next Time by obailala(m): 10:57am On Feb 04, 2013
When Muslims in northern Nigeria strike over a comment made in a far far away country about their religion, we all say they are a bunch of illiterates who are most often also being misguided by some evil politicians.

Now regarding the tweet by El Rufai, are we Christians now trying to tell the world that we are equally illiterate buffoons who cannot not understand the meaning of a simple English sentence?

As for CAN, I don't want to believe they are a bunch of illiterates that is why I agree with the presumptions that the present leadership has been infected by the PDP bug. I sincerely would have expected CAN to be silent about this
Politics › Re: CAN Blasts El-rufai For Jesus Comment On Twitter by obailala(m): 1:02am On Jan 31, 2013
Tonitelli: This is silly..really....I wonder who analyzed this tweet from rufai in CAN...no understanding whatsoever...he wasnt insulting Jesus in anyway..he was just trying to show how far maku and his attack dogs will go to discredit anyone who says a thing abt the govt.....now I can't help but wonder if CAN isnt a PDP branch as they say...
gbam!!!

This episode reminds me of the time when Obasanjo stated that 'even if Jesus comes down to conduct elections in Nigeria, people will still complain that it was rigged.' I remember how a lot of people including religious leaders kept heaping curses on OBJ even without bothering to find out exactly what was said or what was intended.
Politics › Re: Fashola Begins Inspection Tour Of Projects by obailala(m): 9:48pm On Jan 21, 2013
I just hope and pray that the bootlicking comments I'm seeing on this thread are from Fashola's version of the 40 man laptop gang because if these comments sincerely represent the true mindset of Nigerians, then we are in real deep shit.

Just like someone said earlier, 'all these for simple project inspection?... when commissioning starts, what are we to expect?

Car Talk › Re: Toyota, Honda Most Stolen Cars In 2012. by obailala(m): 8:13pm On Jan 13, 2013
Toyota and Honda vehicles are the most common vehicle brands on Nigerian roads therefore it's simply logical that these brands are the most stolen.
Music/Radio › Re: Photos From Tonto Dikeh’s Video Shoot by obailala(m): 10:28am On Jan 07, 2013
The irony of the whole hate game is that all those screaming they would ignore the video would end up being the firsts to watch it. Probably so they would be the first to go online and diss d video.. You all know yourselves.. Unfortunately, the more they hate, the more they get obsessed and promote her brand grin
Politics › Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by obailala(m): 6:27pm On Jan 06, 2013
Dangote is officially the richest since he can defend the source of his wealth.

Are there other Nigerians out there richer than Dangote?? Hell Yeah!.. and they are too numerous to mention.

I remember a statement credited to Mariam Abacha that "No matter the amount of money the Govt seizes from their family, the Abachas will never be as wretched as Dangote" shocked shocked That was not an empty boast.

Tolling isn't much of a problem but I think N500 is way out of order especially considering the Nigerian economy

NYSC › Re: Robbery At FCT NYSC Camp: We're To Discipline Not Protect Corpers; Soldiers by obailala(m): 9:59pm On Nov 23, 2012
I think the soldiers MAY be right. On camp, soldiers are there to train and discipline while mobile policemen on camp (who carry guns) are the ones that provide security. Soldiers on camp DO NOT carry guns. I think we need to get our facts right before we crucify the soldiers

ATMC: i don't think this is ok cos i like real guys...nevertheless life is fun sometimes you know. I trust d flat mate didnt tell cheesy
cheesy At that point in time, it had nothing to do with being real or fake. Based on the circumstances, it would have been absolutely awkward to drop her off and then start walking, even though it was a route I would have typically walked on a normal day... as for the flatmate, I don't think she mentioned it cos when I 'confessed' later to my girl, she laughed so hard and it was clear she had no idea.

ATMC: I thought you 're a guy op?
Well mine was yesterday evening, i went to see someone in his office, after my meeting with him, he opted to give me a ride back home which is close by but one guy signaled me to decline so i did...he wanted us to walk home though we don't live in d same place but close. I did dt cos he helped me to his office and kept me busy with gist until d person i'd come to see came back. He then started looking for something in his drawers after a while he gave up. I asked how important what he was looking for was, he said without it, this public hols will be a waste. I told him to calm down and look for it, he said no dt he does not want to waste my time, i told him dt i can walk home on my own dt he should calm down and look for d stuff, he refused. So we left, he called d security man to come lock up d place. When we parted ways, i bid him good night and i hadn't taken few steps when i looked back and saw him running back to d office, i guess he never thought i could look back, probably he's going to get d stuff cos its important so y dt short drama, smh
Wow! This sort of thing happens to me all the time grin

I remember once after an evening outing with a girl, we left off in a cab to her place. After dropping her off, I got the same cab to get me to my house (which was about a 30 mins walk away). As soon as we drove out of her street, I quickly asked the cab man to drop me sharp sharp so I would walk the rest cos the rate at which the pound£ was counting on the meter was life wallet threatening grin grin. Unfortunately, the moment I got down and started walking in the cold, I bumped into my girl's flatmate undecided

In life, taking risks like this is sometimes INEVITABLE. Many great love stories and marriages started with taking this kind of risk. Unfortunately, a lot of horror stories/movies also begin like this so u can't really blame anyone for being too foolish cos one can never be too careful undecided
