ogb5: Lord this my prayer.I beg to differ. The present governor of DT is a non-working crook. The prayer should rather be that we shouldn't have ANOTHER non-working crook in quick succession. |
Nigeria must have the most bitter individuals on planet Earth right now... the unnecessary insulting tweets against Karen goes to show that the emotions have transcended beyond the normal 'hating' which our youths foolishly show to celebrities...the trend is now very disturbing |
Abu Mikey: Patience Ozokwor thingsMy thoughts exactly ![]() |
hotmas911: modernisation is not westernisation. I just think our politicians need to modernise.I beg to differ.. it has more to do with westernisation. I see no way in which wearing a suit represents modernisation cos if that's the case then all the advanced middle eaastern countries (Saudi, Qatar, UAE etc.) are backward. |
Is it a reading and comprehension issue or just a plain lack of humour? I wonder why people on this thread would passionately detest and protest the front-paging of such a beautifully crafted satirical piece ![]() |
Apart from Kudirat, I thought Mustapha also perpetrated some evil acts against some northerners. So I am a bit confused how this has become a North vs. South West case. How come the northerners are welcoming him as their hero??... Must everything in this country have to be about tribe or religion?? ![]() |

The only reason these kind of movies exist is because there is a huge market for them.. some of them can even be quite hilarious. Not every movie has to be all so serious and classy. They are suppose to be comedies and even their posters alone makes one to laugh.. kudos ![]() |
collynzo2: ^^^ proves my point. All the countries which generate sufficient electricity have one thing in common, COAL. That might just explain Nigeria's problems.Nigeria is planning on using only renewable clean energy because we care so much about the environment. Talk of a baby running before learning how to walk ![]() |
addictiv: so because you want to diversify, you build a new estate with thatched hoses made of mud when other people are converting their mud buildings to concrete... we have two major sources which are hydropower from kanji dam and gas, how well have we used them? diversification is cool but you ll agree with me that the cost of building and developing a coal based industry is much more compared to upgrading the gas power industry which we already have....the key words are sustainability and conservation. its just like buying a new car because the one you have isnt functioning properly when it just needs proper care and servicing. how sure are you that the new one isnt gonna meet the same fate?. God bless Nigeria!!!I totally agree with you that "the cost of building and developing a coal based industry is much more compared to upgrading the gas power industry which we already have" especially when you consider the peculiarities of our nation Nigeria. However, I totally disagree with you that we shouldn't be tapping into coal as a source of power simply because advanced nations are 'thinking' of moving away from it. In your analogy, you say "you build a new estate with thatched houses made of mud when other people are converting their mud buildings to concrete" but my question is, "how many of these people have made any significant progress in converting their thatched houses to concrete?"... "how many will even complete this conversion in the next 50-100 years?" If building new estates with thatched mud houses would shelter us from the rain, do you advice that we keep living under trees while we wait for the day the world would perfect the technology for building concrete houses? As I said earlier, I only agree with you about the Nigerian factor that "the cost of building and developing a coal based industry is much more compared to upgrading the gas power industry which we already have" |
addictiv: for your own information countries using coal are moving towards renewable's .if you know anything about global energy, you should know that countries are fined heavily for each metric ton of carbon produced, and thus they are trying as much as possible to step their figures down.Haha! For your own information again, the so called developed countries you talk of are only just 'thinking' and 'planning' to move away from coal. Yes we all know coal is 'dirty' in every sense but these advanced countries will not completely depart from coal even in the next 50 years. The development of sustainable and clean energy is still in the infant stage and isn't ready to replace fossil fuels in the world energy stage; not even in the next 100 yrs. Yes we know Nigeria has a lot of natural gas being flared off and even exported, we also know we have potentials to improve on our hydro-power but the keyword here is 'diversify.' Even if Nigeria produces 50,000MW of energy from gas or hydro, it is still imperative that we diversify our sources. |
jackbauersballs: From Coal? addictiv: when countries around the world are investing in renewable energy and developing better sources of sustainable energy.....we are driving backwards into the age of coal, which is a synonym for pollution, very funny advisers in the presidential cabinet, with no sense of reasoning. the supplus gas in the countries reserves can conveniently feed the whole nation. they should think in that direction..For ur information, coal still remains the largest source of energy for power production worldwide. Also if u read through the ministers statement, u would see that the idea is to diversify instead of relying on only one source of energy. For a country like Nigeria, we need any means of energy for now, cos a hungry man would have to feed on what he has firstly before he starts thinking of feeding on 'healthy' foods. |
I once traveled in a govt convoy and I had my heart in my hand all through the journey. Govt convoy drivers are nothing but little beasts from hell just sent out to put their lives and the lives of other road users at risk. Unfortunately, Nigeria is a lawless nation so no matter how serious the campaign gets to check the excesses of govt convoys, nothing will ever change. |
This is the exact reason Dangote decided to start employing graduates as drivers.. Hopefully in the near future, the graduates will completely replace all these igboh smoking and burukutu consuming drivers. |
TITLE: Two Condemned Robbers Escape From Courtroom In Warri BY AUSTIN OGWUDAWhat has this story got to do with Warri?? ![]() |
And we wonder why the nothern part of Nigeria is not progressing.
On the contrary, "and we wonder why the entire nation is not progressing" People who are willing and capable are forcefully discouraged until they get frustrated and become armed robbers then People who are not willing and not capable are forcefully encouraged until they also get frustrated and become boko haram |
Quota system, a recipe for disaster! Yet we have leaders who have seen this for several decades but have done nothing.. Instead they have set phantom targets like vision 20-20-20, yet they still leave this killer policy to thrive.. Just like a man trying hard to fetch water from the stream with a basket.. May God save us from this disaster! |
nijanigga: Good thought,It's a simple logic, but Nigerians have better ideas in scams or looting .They are using 50 police men to guard pipelines in the age of technological advancement. This problem has been reccurring, yet no end to the vandalism anytime soon.Nigeria is still in living in dark age.It depends on the magnetude of the leak. For a high pressure pipeline delivering 600 cubic meters per hour, a pinhole of say 10mm in diameter could spill a thousand litres in an hour. At this rate, there would hardly be any noticeable change in pressure or flowrate in the control room so it would hardly be spotted. This isn't a Nigerian problem, it's a worldwide issue that's why pipelines are patrolled regulary all over the world. |
Yoshi-Master: EmperorOlu: Alarm gini? Where do you think you are? USA or the dustbin country known as Nigeria?USA or Nigeria, UK to China, there is still no reliable system to automatically detect loss of containment except its a major rupture in the pipeline which would reduce throughput significantly. Low level leaks would hardly be spotted confidently by any form of instrumentation. For a high pressure line delivering 600 cubic metres per hour (600,000Litres in one hour), these vandals can fill several 30,000 litre tankers without being spotted except someone physically sights and reports them. Yes, control rooms in the US would not also spot this, that's why pipelines worldwide are always patrolled to spot any likely leaks. |
kingthreat: Hmmm, can't wait for 500k to be cheap money to me too.Abi oo... I can't wait for my time too. Once upon a time, wizkid must have begged to do a show for 50k but the fact we all need to live with whether we like it or not is that he has conquered that stage in his life and has moved forward. All these people blabbing about majek fashek, remedies, azadus etc and giving advice here and there, U need to understand that in showbiz, there's an unwritten rule that u have to flaunt wealth whether u have it or not. Considering that wizkid actually has the wealth, we just have to pardon his 'pride.' Whether he invests or not is none of our business |

slimyem: Would be hard to read it with any seriousness or deep reflection. The pidgin english bible wasn't made for people like you who don't have pidgin english as a first language. If you go into some of the creeks in Delta state, u will meet people who have ONLY pidgin as their language of communication besides their local dialects. To you, it may just be a language for jokes and comedy but to some others, its their only means of communication. omokayode9258: Who ar dis senseles pple appreciatn d unreasnable nd jobles pple makn d pidgn versn.
Lagos should implement a policy that allows school fees difference between Lagos indigenes, Lagos residents and foreign students. Lagos should not be suffering for non-performannce elsewhere.
Before u advocate for a killer policy like this, the first question should be "who is an indigene and who is not?" A man who has lived and worked and paid all his taxes to Lagos state will be asked to pay higher fees for his kids because he's from Ondo state? |
mbhs139: Wouldn't you have done same if after reading such a laudable idea all some people have to say is to pour aspersion on the person of the Governor? If I get your point right, are you trying to imply that those 8 hidden posts where anti-Fashola comments, hence the moderators had to hide them? I wouldn't want to believe you but if by any means you are right, then wahala dey |
Abu Mikey: How come this threÀd started on a very bad note!!....So many HIDDEN POSTs alreadyBut seriously, I also asked myself the same question silently, how come a thread starts and there are 8 hidden posts following immediately? Could it be the 'first and second to comment juvenile squad' or what? |

Original statement by the Nairalander 2 days ago Boeing412: Dana Air Almost Killed Me YesterdayNow Here's the statement from Dana Mgt Our attention has been drawn to an online report suggesting that a Dana Air aircraft had an air return shortly after take-off from MMA2 on Monday, 10th June,2013.Now for all those confidently saying the 2 reports are 'perfectly the same,' can you please clarify this discrepancy? Was the plane airborne or not? Who we go believe? ![]() |
iresearcher: Omo, you are a smart dudeI'm sorry to burst your bubble about calling people illiterates but please read the story again and u would understand that both stories are not 'perfectly the same' as u claim. The original story from the Nairalander said the plane had taken off (airborne) while the statement by Dana air says at no time was the aircraft airborne. Read again! Its either the Nairalander is lying or Dana air is |
