This news was released by South Korea... How can we be so sure it's true?... How can we be sure it's not a ploy to gain public support for the war against North Korea?

With the kind of deceit we have these days in world politics, it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to completely believe any news I hear. undecided

I was so pissed off with my experience at the Nigerian stand in the carnival last year. After visiting the stand of different countries (mainly Caribbeans) and nodding my head to Caribbean songs and half-nude dancers, i eventually got to the Nigerian stand.

There we had DJ jimmy jatt on stage doing his usual but to my utmost dismay, about 80% of the songs played were of American or carribean origin. I had to ask people around to confirm if I was really at the Nigerian stand but most annoying was the fact that the people I asked could not see anything wrong with a Nigerian DJ playing more foreign songs in the Nigerian stand in a cultural carnival. otokx: Why did they not site the project in the Niger Delta? Is it not from the Niger Delta that the gas will come from?
Such pattern of reasoning is unfortunately the reason why majority of meaningful projects in Nigeria hit the rock. Politicians would then happily loot the mobilization fees.

Sometimes when we consider the type of government we have, all we need to do is just pray that projects can survive till completion instead of raising dust over contentious issues like these.

PapaBrowne: I was passing the expressway today and I saw the road dancing azonto. I was astounded. So I stopped and asked it why it was dancing. It took a very deep breathe and and the conversation went thus:

Road: For years now some Mack trucks had been climbing my back with very heavy load. They run over me without considering the fact that my bones which are located underground usually get fractured anytime they pass. My skin tears, rain falls, I get sludgy and then very very ugly. Its been a hellish experience.

Me: Very very sorry for your plight, but that can't be the reason why you are dancing Azonto. Why are you dancing?

Road: I'm dancing because I haven't seen the Mack Trucks today. They said Fresh Air blew them away into the bush and they fell on some long things called trains that now carried them away on a rail track.

Me: Yes, I heard it too oh. Ha, that fresh Air is blowing everywhere. Mr Airport, Mrs farm, Uncle Economy ati Brother Power. They are all experiencing this wind you are talking about oh, Mr Road. Make I dey go jare. Make I reach house quick so that I go fit chop Cassava bread!

It doesn't matter if baba is a kettle calling the pot black

The only thing that matters is that baba has just said a painful truth which we all lament about everyday as Nigerians. The sooner we start focusing our attention on issues instead of people and attacking the message instead of the messenger, the better for our nation. If we read carefully through the report, it would be noted that baba did not even absolve himself of the blame.
Nairaland General › Re: Chaos On Ore-benin Road Over The Death Of A Footballer by obailala(m): 12:29pm On Aug 12, 2013
free2ryhme: A young man was yesterday crushed to death by a trailer on the Ore-Benin road. The accident occurred at Kajola in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victim, a footballer, is popularly known as “Mikel”.

An eye witness said the accident occurred while the deceased was crossing the expressway.
The villagers set the trailer ablaze, causing a gridlock on the highway for several hours.
A source said the situation degenerated when some soldiers allegedly shot at the protesters.
Many people were reportedly injured and vehicles vandalised.

One of the villagers said: “The protest was hijacked by hoodlums, who extorted money from the stranded motorists. Some drivers and their passengers abandoned their vehicles and fled into the bush. It was an ugly incident.”
Police spokesman Wole Ogodo confirmed the incident and said the command was on top of the situation.

shineureyes: Is that this pregnant women don't do scan?
I've heard of some cases where the female clients of the baby factories know exactly what is going hence they would always discourage a scan even if their husbands insist.. They know they aren't pregnant but just need the baby bump to deceive either their husbands or inlaws. This story is actually strange to me undecided
Well well well... selling of babies is a common fad in the East and Rivers State. I have seen it with my own eyes and though i don't like the idea of selling babies, i think it is our society that has pushed them so far. If you see the way "barren women" and girls with "unwanted pregnancies" are treated in those parts of the countries, you will understand the true meaning of demand, supply and middle men in Economics. I pray something sincere happens in this country sha, cus apparently Religion isnt really helping us.

God bless us all.
You are absolutely right. Stigmatization against barren women and also, stigmatization against unmarried mothers is so bad in that part of the country that the economic forces of demand and supply have inevitably taken precedence.

Dibiachukwu: where in the bible?
Are u aware that Jesus Christ stopped people from stoning a woman in the bible?..

Are u also aware that Jesus had a tax collector (present day agboro) as a disciple and people criticized him just like the pope's statement is being criticized today?

I quote again, the bible teaches us to hate sin but not condemn the sinners. If u condemn sinners and ostracize them from society, are u not simply acting like the 'holier than thou' crowd that wanted to stone the woman?

No... Nobody is loosing anything except lots of Nigerians who have zero ability to comprehend simple reports.

Hate the sin but not the sinner... that's the bible's stand... I wonder what is so difficult to understand in that..

Very soon in our traditional hypocrisy, Nigerians would soon advocate for stoning of adulterers..

drake2005: This is man ought to be arrested, charged and sentenced for wrongly use of English language
Where/when did Patrick tell you that he speaks English?

His language is a complex mixture of English, spanish, greek, hebrew, italian, french, various Nigerian Languages and slang.

I maintain that Patrick is in the wrong profession (politics instead of comedy) however he will always have my respect cos he has always pitched his tent boldly on the side of Nigerians and the truth even when he risked being the odd one out. This unfortunately got him booted out by the powers that be. I only wish Nigerians will cease from being myopic and look beyond the man's peculiar language.

Wsdm: Mr. Pope, you are not to rule base on your volition. Tell us what the Bible says about this, simple. Must you all be controlled by western idiocy? Christianity is making itself two porous.
Can u please go back to the report and read it again; this time read it slowly instead of just commenting based on the topic of the thread.

To save u the stress of re-reading (that's if u even read it in the first place), the pope has simply said that 'sinners' should not be judged but should be allowed to come to church and not be ostracized. He however states very clearly that he is against the 'lobbyists' who are on a campaign to make it look like being gay is right.

Can u please now tell us what the pope has said that is against bible teachings or the teachings of Christ?
Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Francis: Who Am I To Judge Gay People? by obailala(m): 4:55pm On Jul 29, 2013
Syncan: Exactly. The church never teaches discrimination against them, She rather sees their act as a grave disorder, yet She encourages them to seek the face of the lord, whose grace can make all things good. Yea its unfortunate when someone finds his or her sexual taste biased in that manner, the church sympathises with such a one, but calls him or her to a higher spiritual effort. The pope however, in line with the church, frowns at any propagation of a disorder as if it is right. This is what the lobbyists do.
I think this is exactly what the pope is saying.

The report isn't very clear and unfortunately not so many people have basic comprehension skills. I can see a lot of people reading negative interpretations into the pope's statement. It is already happening in this thread

3: Scheduling Time For Affection

Guess what: affection isn't meant to be scheduled! So what if you were in the middle of work thing in your computer when he came up behind you to hug you? You can close the laptop for five minutes to engage in some sweetness. If you always brush him off and make him feel like a nuisance for giving you affection, he’ll stop and that's BAD for BUSINESS.
No 3 is a major reason why even happily married men give cheating a thought... The problem of a man who cheats is that once it starts, it becomes almost impossible to stop...I wish ladies would get this into their head.. Say no to scheduling!!
Politics › Re: Yerima Blackmailed Senators With Religious Sentiment, Says David Mark by obailala(m): 11:16am On Jul 25, 2013
HNosegbe: The Senate president has still not addressed the issue closest to my heart.

Section 21 of the Child Rights Act of 2003, a federal law, states unequivocally that a child below the age of 18 shall be deemed a minor and not eligible to marry. The law goes on to stipulate imprisonment for those who break this law.

How come Sani Yerima is still a free man?
Now if the bolded statement above is truly in the Nigerian constitution, then the issue of considering under-aged but married girls as being of full age should be invalid as the constitution already regards the marriage as illegal.

The problematic clause should simply be deleted as it contradicts itself
Politics › Re: Senate Denies Endorsing Child Marriage Law by obailala(m): 12:22pm On Jul 24, 2013
The media certainly deceived us in this matter. I actually thought the senate outrightly passed a bill approving marriage to minors but now the picture is clearer. Unfortunately, Nigerians are hell bent on stubbornly swallowing the original misleading story passed on to us through the media instead of taking out time to ask the VITAL QUESTIONS.

From my little understanding of this whole saga:
1) The constitution says a person who is of full age must have attained 18 years of age
2) Now they want to allow an exception to this law which considers married women under 18 as being of 'full age' for the sake of 'renouncing citizenship' ONLY

Two vital questions I have are:
1) What is the actual age of consent in Nigeria according to our constitution - Nobody seems to have asked this question
2) Are we sure the proposed exception would not be extended beyond 'renouncing citizenship' only to other areas such as voting rights?

SR focuses its searchlight on the government in power to expose their excesses. They have little or no business with a powerless/worthless opposition. If the opposition takes over power tommorrow, SR will certainly switch their attention just like in the Yaradua sickness saga. When Yaradua was sick and SR exposed their secrets, I guess SR was also working for the opposition (GEJ + Nigerians)?

solomon111: And the sad thing is that many people believe the malicious reports of Sahara reporters against the president.
In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is definitely the king.

Half bread is better than puff-puff

That the fruits from the vineyard have been harvested with some weeds does not mean we should throw it all away.

It takes the application of a little bit of wisdom to separate the wheat from the chaff.

As long as news reporting is concerned in Nigeria today, 80% of the stories reported by SR have eventually turned out to be raw facts. It takes a little bit of wisdom to identify the remaining 20%

Just like I said earlier, since no other news house or whistle-blower agency has been able to give Nigerians the 'un-reportable' news like SR, they will continue to be the king in the jungle with great followership.

Live with it!
