Been to Baki before, you go through Bama LGA Maiduguri. Africa as a whole was once a single United country. |
When companies say Nigerian University Graduate(s) are unemployable, it is not because of spoken or written English. The main reason is most graduate(s) are not taught to think on their feet and add immediate value. They need to be re-trained to meet the minimum industry standard for the chosen field of practice. Here is a man, who already have the needed hands-on requisite experience to add immediate value in his career, having been involved actively with the film industry over the years. My advice to emerging young Nigerians, think beyond the theory been taught at all citadel of learnings, so you can be a blessing to humanity not just a number? I know some idiots will say it's all about the money !!! |
From my own observation and travelling /living within North/SS/SW Nigeria and across Europe, Asia pacific and briefly in the State, I can say without mincing words, an average Ibo person does not see his or her self as a Nigerian. They may claim one Nigeria by word of mouth but deep down an Ibo person put more allegiance of being ibo than a Nigerian. My own verdict |
Ask yourself why did I study Met Engineering? - to feed your stomach, own a car , build a house , if those are your answers you have wasted your time at the uni. You should have a stopped education immediately after high school. - Travelling to Italy to hustle ? Italy where 90 pct hustlers did not finish primary school- why do you want to drag yourself into the mud ? Please note Italy is a very hostile country and poor ! Ask around or better still search over the Internet. You come to Italy - Milano Centrale, Padova FS, Mestre , Venezia St Lucia, Torino, Naples, You see black people begging to get money to buy bigelleti or better still to eat . You see black old man with grey hair selling lighter, facial towel. Note, there are very few Africans who have legitimate work and earn good salary. Some don't have money to go from Milano to Torino or Padova to Mestre not to talk of Lagos or Benin. You go to London, stop at Victoria, connect Jubilee line or Metro underground or the overground and see things yourself. Go to South East Woolwich , Hakney, homerton,Stratford, Elephant and Castle, old and new Kent road, Peckham and see things yourself. Fine there are more successful Nigerians in London and UK generally compared to all European cities I have visited. - Who says with 2-2 you can't be successful. Sit down and define what success means to you? Don't make money your ultimate goal when stating out in life, focus on creating a brand and God willing favour will find you. I will not say much but you are an engineer , discover your UTS. The future is bright for you if you can perserve and be focused. The mistake you make now will hunt many generations of yours ! My 2 cents Fellow Senior Engineer |
Madam, May you get a break through with your cancer treatments. However, you need to these very quickly, if you have not already: Retrace your steps to where you visited why seeking spiritual backed powers. Are you paying back now ? Check those people that benefitted immensely from you - Billionaires overnight ? |
I think people don't really understand What they get into when seeking power of the world. |
For me, there is more to ISIS than just jihad. I think Russia and EU should do proper intelligence covert ops to unmask the country(s) funding ISIS. You will recall the the president of Syria shouted repeatedly that ISIS must not be funded nor supplied with arms, the US refused listen. The UN Security Council need to put America in check once and for all. I am beginning to think the speech of Putin at the UN earlier should be revisited. Everywhere the U.S go to fight terrorism they leave the place worst I.e Iraq, Libya, Syria. The world need to unite and really question the real intent of the U.S for world peace !! After all, we all belong to one tribe, the human tribe!! |
The world has changed a great deal indeed!! Married women don't know what is required of them. A wife is the neck of the the family, if the neck is injured, the head will be come useless. The neck is the pivot of the head. People see the head and lovely face without taking note of the neck. |
Not every old person is experienced and wise, Wise. However, highly experienced old person has abundant wisdom. Respect to President Buhari. |
Things have really changed in Unilorin. In our days to make 2:1 you must be super brilliant focused student in faculty of Engineering. |
Tall guys are not always wealthy nor rich. Few are. Successful business men and top executives are always of average built, often less than 6' tall. Look around the business world and quote me wrong. I think there is something responsible for this, intelligence and the centre of Gravity. |
Having a first class or 2:1 does not really mean you will be a high flier in your chosen career. Intelligence is completely different from brilliance. Like the op said a lot of factors contributes to some student finishing with 3.3/3.49. This does not mean the student(s) are not intelligent. What I have found out is that the HR of most companies use 2:1/1st Class as a first pass filter to reduce applications. Also, going for masters immediately after graduating from University does not really mean you will add a lot of value to your employer when employed. Few years of experience ( early career) make you know your strength and weakness, then you tailor as suit! Masters after understanding the big picture of your career and industry. Shell, Exxon, Halliburton, Baker Hughes of the old, have good graduate development programmes to mold and sharpen graduate to the brand they want. Nigerian is heading for disaster if something is not done to stop this anomaly of 2:1/first class. Student cram / pay for 2:1 at higher institution. Few first class are very intelligent most have academic brillance. Your ability to think on your feet; Your ability to think outside of the box; Your courage to champion untested theory; Your ability to be a game changer; You ability to think and act as the the chief engineer even as a young graduate; will go a long to determine how far you will go with your career! Degrees will only get you in the door but staying there and being visible requires a lot more !!! Ciao |
Total shame on people that don't believe in hardwork and preservance. Even to make heaven you must work for it on earth. Australia is a country of opportunity, good standard of living, human life is treasured, you don't have to be stupendously wealthy to enjoy quality lifestyle in Australia. I am proudly Australian because this is a country where hardworking Nigerian Engineers,Doctors, Nurses, social workers Taxi drivers, wreckers, Accountant ,Hr generalist, Geologist / Geophysictist of Yoruba, Edo, Benin, Middle belt have made names for themselves in their career with hardwork and perseverance, and living posh neighbourhoods across Australia and achieving great things without doing anything illegal. I have come to a personal conviction that the large percentage of ibos will do anything to make money because they lack morals and deep fear of God!! |
I totally agree with you. However, their is an element of luck! Luck = God factor + opportunity meeting preparedness. My first informal/ formal interview ever in 2003 for TSKJ finima during construction of NLNG train 4-5 was with no connection and submission of application. I was at NLNG RA restaurant waiting to see my buddy who invited me over and just saw this dude having lunch and just rolled over to him and that was it. The dude was a Senior NLNG personnel, grilled me, got impressed and collected my resume, gave me money, gave me his business card and I got shortlisted. My friend (Briggs) was like what, just like that! I was in my early 20's just graduated back then. |
You can crucify me, the government need to change orientation of the younger generation by providing enabling environment for entrepreneurship. Not everybody should be a university or polytechnic graduate. You finish SSCE, go straight into technical school for two years, master your trade and start your thing. So you start young !! This what happens in the Western world. Africans have been brainwashed to believe without university education you can't be successful. This is the main problem of Nigeria |
@sental John, Saraki actions does not align with your quotes from Robert Greens 48 Laws of Power. I think I have a feel of why Saraki is misbehaving, he never had a real mentor ? You need tutelage at every stage. I will go deep to the underworld, you need to attain 40 years at least to bestowed with some deep power. You need spiritual/ mental balance from the core!! I think he mixed some fundamental development in his quest for power. Why 40? Folks of deep knowledge know !! Go read the God Father, Art of wars act of seduction and the prince !! |
My posts way back 2013-2014 got deleted on nairalan potter about Dezaini Maduekwe. I stated very clearly she cornered close to 2 Trillion in asset plus cash while at the helm of NNPC. I stated clearly there is a full dossier on her by Interpol and international countries. If Buhari press hard enough, he will get this very classified info. She is the worst thing that happened to Nigeria oil and Gas Industry. I reserve further comments. |
I have come to realise we have folks who don't really understand there are unwritten laws that you must adhere to !! Saraki to me did not learn well from his father! There are fight you don't pick up not because you are weak but for tactical reason. No one with over ambition succeed in life. No matter are smart, brilliant and intelligent, you need endorsement !!! Even in the Western world where they have practiced democracy for over 100 years , you need endorsement from the right quarters. 48 laws of Power (Robert Green) Never outshine your master. Don't reveal your talent too much you may become a threat that need to be totally crushed. The Art of War (Tzu) Be sure you can win a battle totally before rolling out your amours! Yoruba Philosophy Ma to Oju ile mo Le , to ba fe la Le ! Ciao! |
This boils down to : 1. The lady lacks basic training of what is expected of a wife and mother 2. I will ascribe the bad manners to her mother 3. The lady is not physiologically ready for marriage 4. The lady does not understand the African culture 5. I am tempted to say she may not be Godly. What's happening between this young couple is the norm nowadays. Most lady don't know where equality gender stops, in your house your husband is the king and next to God. In the sight of God, your husband is more superior to your parent. You were actually created because of him ( this is deep not for the shallow minds). For the guy, you need to seek God's wisdom and patience. If your woman gives you no peace and happiness, your destiny start to derail. The only place on earth where a man is entilted to peace is in his home !!! You notice some men blossom after marriage, financially and all around, the secret the wife is the master key ! You notice some men start nosediving after marriage, the wife is unknowingly the culprit. |
@ chukwudi 44. I think you should first go and study your name very well. I am not sure you are 44 yrs old ? Are you ? |
@ chukwudi 44, learn matter. I am not sure you understand the world you live in!! My humble submission ! No matter how mighty a man is, the day you start assimilating you are mighter and bigger than your parent. The grace of God departs from you. Without your parents you may have ended up in the toilet or pit laterine as mixture of sperm and uterus lining!!! Go figure!! |
I had to go re-read 48 laws of Power R.Green and Act of war by TZU, even the holy book to really understand what Saraki is trying to achieve. For me every life event is an opportunity to Learn and consolidate of experiences. I think my humble submission is that Saraki is not a good learner, I am not sure he studied is daddy properly. Fine we all wish for kids to achieve greater heights than us. However, there genetical stuff that requires emotional intelligence in order not to fall in an endless pit. Saraki with his actions / inactions personally murdered is political career and burnt bridges that took years to build. Once you loss the trust of capones, you are finished!!! I think saraki should read macahavelli principles. |
@ excuse my French: What JG are you right now ? What career path are you on? How old are you? |
In the present state of the O&G industry, what counts more now is your experience to add value and keep CAPEX below AFE and minimal OPEX for existing assets. Please new project that are undergoing VARs at gate 2 are throughly scrutinised for definition leading to FID. All MNC are doing engineering in house now to be firm on cost associated with execution (EPIC). This means most MNC are recruiting experienced hands with proven expertise from consulting firm, EPIC contractors. This is not era for degrees, tough time require tough measures. Most shareholders of super majors, still want dividends despite oil price heading south. My 2 cents, take the Nigeria job and build your hands-on experience. |
@ duke lad: Please can you draw these people: Albert Einstein smoking his cigarette Fela Anikulapo with the famous fist gesture Woke Soyinka during his UI days as a radical Ghandi of India Mother Teresa Princess Diana I will get this to de louvre in Paris and Doumo in Milan Pm me |
Everything boils down to morality. I am not in support of side chicks. However, most ladies of nowadays don't really understand the role of a wife and mother. Men are polygamous animals, but a vitreous woman can tame her man with meekness, love and maturity. |
Al-Quran is not just about the best receiter. Please take the Quran, read and comprehend every ayah and increase your taqwah. |
I have been reading from a far and watching the dramas at the Senate. I pray Saraki reads this: Your eminent father Alh Olushola Abubakar Saraki, dined well with the truthful ulamus in Agbaji and he listened to word of caution and advise. He was a grassroot politician, who dealt with Elderly women all in ilorin, he had their full support. Hence, with Allah's grace he became the lifeline of Kwara / Kogi politics. The great Zulu Kaneni Gamabari was a Shiek and Emir, who was also powerful! Even IBB with all his powers consulted and feared Zulu Kaneni Gambari of Ilorin. Your eminent father of blessed memory was a very loyal subject of the great Zulu kaneni Gambari! My word of advise to you: I see you heading to a path you may not be able to recover from politically and personally. Please remember Pharaoh was so powerful and even Moses could not done anything to him, God himself destroyed Pharaoh under the Red Sea. Irony, if anybody had told you no one born of woman can harm you, just remember pharaoh. Please Bukola, mo to Jo awon Agba mole! Have a rethink on how your eminent father Alh Olushola Saraki played his politics, you could borrow some olive branch from this, to quickly realign things. Wish you the very best !! |
First I am not in support in a man sleeping with female house maid. On a second note, the house maid is a female as the wife. However, there are boundaries. Most men unknowingly get attracted to the female house maid, when the house maid does everything his married wife is suppose to do. What is the difference between a man who sleep with the house maid, mistress, escort ? |
Thanks Jarus, please kindly alert Tbaba to enlighten us more. |
