pseudaria:The blame is still on the employee. Once bitten twice shy. Why not QUIT? |
The house of reps is idle. So many things require prior attention. Why not pressurise the executive to focus on expanding and deepening our economy such that more opportunities will rise therefrom and we can thus change the dynamics. Casualisation cannot be stopped by promulgation or an act of parliament. Providing more opportunities and thus alternatives will discourage this phenomenon. High performers who are still casual stuff will then have take advantage of other opportunities until the the employer realizes that very good staff are difficult to come by and even more difficult to retain. In the meantime, the banks are doing a great job hiring these contract operators. They could as well decide to ignore them and create a new band of permanent employees filled with SSCE graduands trained to do what these casuals are currently doing and they will still perform creditably. If you are a casual staff and feel undervalued, then QUIT. Hundreds of people are standing in line to take that job. Complaining while taking the stipend is very cheap and demeaning. |
chelseamann:No number on your signature. I could be interested in the generator. |
juman:And have you heard from the Ebora himself? Why would a man with his means refuse to cater for his own kids? You need to hear the untold stories of most fathers and you will not be so quick to judge. Mother's could also be very terrible, feeding children with biased positions and reinforcing this over time with few of the children reasoning objectively. Be careful about what and how you absorb what you hear. |
My observations are that may people who have amounts of capital like 50k do not have the staying power required to start out and grow a business to full term. You will be amazed at what 50,000 can turn into if rightfully deployed and managed in a business that involves trading on things that are 'daily needs'. Open your eyes and look around. Even the flourishing aboki kiosk was started with less than 50k. Today his turnover is 50k daily and at least 10% of that is net profit. THINK. |
damosade:When I read the bolded part of your post my first reaction was empathy. When I got to the last sentence I quickly realized that's this could be the beginning of a brand new for you. Look for something to start right away. The quantum of capital you have is immaterial. There is a business for every amount. It is what drives capital that matters most. |
healthserve:OP my suggestion is that you consider the above list with particular emphasis on the bolded ideas which are tested and proven. To support my recommendation, several topics exist here on Nairaland written by experienced practitioners of these businesses so you already have enough resources to tap from. Since you stay in Ondo state I could give you a template that works like magic....if you like and this would of course be free. All you need as initial capital is 50k. And then you can expand as required. The model is based on trade and has minimal risk exposure. It works more effectively during school sessions and has a consistent demand curve. I must however warn you that the profits are quite small, about 10% per week but very consistent and risk free. |
donstan18:Not true. You should have added that this is your opinion. Great strides have been made with less amounts. |
I read the replicated message below and decide to share it here. It appears quite objective to me. Copied! Now guys, I was Banker and still a finance man so I know the game. This is what played out here. This may not be what it seems at all. It seems like a "normal " Nigerian business man practise. Many people will be indicted if this is considered a fraud. It is essentially a deception of the Nigerian banking system but which even bank executives are aware of and get their share and the bank loses nothing at the end of the day. The american system is not defrauded by a single penny .This is how it works. 1. Mr x wants to buy 6 airplanes for his business. The cost of air planes is $1m each so total of $6m. 2. He approaches the bank for a loan but says the planes are $12m 3. He cannot get an invoice from the airplane manufacturer for that value, so he gets his own registered company abroad to issue an invoice to his company in Nigeria for the $12m . He does not claim his company abroad is an aerioplane manufacturer, but rather an aviation trading company who will supply the planes 4. Bank gives him a properly executed loan for the naira equivalent of $12m which he has to pay back and will probably also provide some guarantees and additional security and provides the fx either by transfer or by letter of credit. 5. The $ 12m is released and transferred abroad to his company ( the seller) , the company pays the $6m to the manufacturer and actually does aquire the airplanes and $ 6m balance is sent to his own personal account. The result is that the company in Nigeria which he owns is now obligated to pay back a loan of $12m instead of $6m and as long as they pay, everyone is happy including the banks who have given out a hefty loan and make thier interest, the senior bankers who approved it without the due diligence of insisting the invoice should be from a manufacturer and also checking international prices for such, the manufacturer who has sold airplanes and been paid and the businessman who has made a $6m dollar advance profit on his business before it even starts. The real problem is that the business case for the airline may not be able to support the repayment of $12m in the loan period but would have done so if the loan was only $6m. The business then fails as a result, goes into liquidation, the bank has only the asset to fall back on which is in reality on the open market below the loan value, but the biz man has his $6m and is enjoying life. Its essentially called " over invoicing" and at least 80 perrcent of business people here do it. The main difference however is that most times , the invoice comes from the manufacturer directly and the amount on top is probably about 2 to 5 percent of the real value , which after the manufacturer recieves payment, they now pay out as comission to the businessman. I assure you many childrens FX school. fees were paid like this. Its just that "big boys" want to take control of the whole chain and slap up hefty margins that no sane manufacturer would allow or invoice for. He has technically not laundered any money. It is a victimless "crime" except upon himself who may have compromised his own business and saddled himself with future large loans to repay just to live large immediately, and of course bank shareholders who have to write off the bad loan if the business fails. The executives will then be called to answer how they approved such a loan. Another failsafe option is that he takes the fx which was aquired at bank rate and then resells it on the black market for a hefty margin. Pays the bank the equivalent of $6m at bank rate imeediately reducing the naira loan to $6m and pockets the spread on the fx sale.!! This way, he has even made money ( not nearly as much as keeping the $6m) through the system without exposing his co to excessive loans !!! This is why you see so many rich Nigerians without any real operating businss with large business that have totally failed but they are still able to live the good life with ease. American govt will probably indict him on a technicallity of moving fumds but not really of a crime as such within their system. So you see he is already denying it and he is right logically and legally. |
captainking:This doesn't apply in all cases. The Smithwesson guy is more in tune with the realities of commissions administration. A lot of variables come into play when calculating commissions especially in large organizations. So it takes a lot of time. For instance commission's are only paid on transactions that have done full cycle. No sales person gets commissions on credit sales. It is thus to the advantage of the sales person that he is given a little extra time for him to get his payments in. And again it makes it easier to make payments the next month together with payroll. |
MiddleDimension:I salute your courage Sir. It takes guys to admit this much. I have been a great beneficiary too and harbour only gratitude for the opportunity. |
[quote author=SalamRushdie post=84288520]Then he should have left the money in Springfield aviation account or reversed it back to Nigeria..[/quote Your earlier post made quite a lot of sense. However, leaving the money in the Springfield account is not a viable idea if the money can be used to buy planes from another company or even spare parts for existing aircraft in its fleet. The most important thing here is if he was in constant communication with CBN and they were aware of the various changes as regards the recipients. If he is able to back this info up with documents he will be in the clear sooner than later. Of course there is some substance in the allegation by the US but it is still what it is .....an allegation untill proven. Good luck to him. |
Westernlove:Very pedestrian thinking only possible from a simpleton. |
MiddleDimension:Material damage done to any group of people who have 'knowledge' is irrelevant. In the majority of cases, the vilified sect will just ignore you while concentrating in making giant strides in their development. Incidentally, they hold what is so invaluable that wasting time with critics is abhorred. |
MiddleDimension:Bros, I never said anything was or is wrong with AMORC.......and I should know. As a matter of fact they enjoy my utmost respect. And so do all others who have decided to search for the meaning of life, this developing themselves beyond the ordinary. We can all go ahead and cast aspersions on individuals, bodies, sects and gatherings as much as we like. Fortunately, death will be an eye opener for most of us where things will stand very clear to all without the wrappings provided by the intellect. Alas, it will be too late then. |
MiddleDimension:This is only the typical reaction. |
MiddleDimension:On the contrary they are still available in large numbers, perhaps a bit more reticent but there all the same. Even with the proliferation of churches, nothing much has changed in our general thinking tapestry. I weep for my people. |
SalamRushdie:This narrative sounds quite objective. It appears the man may have erred by opening a new company in the US to receive his funds from here and then use it to buy planes, spare parts etc. We are watching. Let's see how it all unfolds. |
fairy88:This is easily the best post on this thread. Okay people here are looking for some form of charity. Of course this sense of entitlement is not their fault. It's transmitted from the school system. Everyone now wants a job where they put in as minimal effort as possible while expecting to reap maximally. Unfortunately, this is a Chinese driven investment and it will be run using the world famous Chinese Work ethic. Only the very best will survive and yet thrive. I think this is going to provide a great learning platform for the serious and career minded Nigerian applicant. The unserious ones can seek out civil service jobs or enrol for NPOWER. |
Freehuman:Thanks This is some advanced reasoning here. Maybe, the poster should show us the JuJu Linda Ikeji used. And of course our very own Seun Osewa (who of course is a professed Atheist) must be a very high ranking Illuminati. And the guys that set up Opay must be Ogboni. Aha, Yale bread makers in Ibadan and Beloxxi biscuit marketers are Rosicrucian. Of course the Nigerian star; the Adenomas of Bigi fame located their ultra modern factory in Ijebu Ode because of proximity to Babalawos and Marabouts. You all need to get a life. Local man is tired. |
Westernlove:Sorry to disappoint you Sir. I really don't crave attention here or indeed anywhere else. But truth be told we have unconsciously made an industry of failure. Mediocrity is now celebrated with fanfare and gratitude. Many honest and super clean Billionaires exist in this country on contrast to your perspective. You would be very surprised to know that quite a number of them exist and are very quiet/humble/modest about their acquisition. For the majority of these they can account for all the money they have ever made Kobo for Kobo. And by the way, suffice to state here that I am old enough, inquisitive enough and objective enough to independently study and understand the principles of success especially as it concerns material acquisition which still awes some of us as products of an archaichal and defective school and religious system that places mediocrity on a pedestal. |
Westernlove: Stop instilling fear in people. Behind the scene moves are exaggerated. It's just a time worn justification for the unaccomplished man who has never really committed to succeed using established universal principles. Why must you conclude that everyone who gets rich must be a member of some imaginary sect. You give these sects unnecessary credit. Many men in Nigeria have succeeded without a single blemish in their antecedence. Deal with it. |
McTobe:What is it with Nigerians sef? I don't know this guy but I can confirm that building a business of this magnitude requires much more than an emotional driven management. That he built a successful business of this size is evidence of his managerial progress. Some lame ineffectual variable will go around propagating theories of how another man already successful should run his business. Why not walk your talk by employing the aggrieved staff and making it a point to build something more formidable as Nestoil. Talk (as always) is cheap. |
7thLemonLOVER:Indeed it is tough to be a job seeker without a little cash coming in consistently. But your advice that menial jobs should be avoided just because you have a degree will only make your unemployment experience tougher. I assume that you are still being fed by your parents/guardians. Pls note carefully; your schooling which rewarded you with that price of paper (certificate) is as worthless as overused sandpaper if it is not capable of helping you expand your frontiers. You need to start getting an income and consistently too if you are not to become th butt of jokes in the society very soon. Of why use are you as a graduate of you are going a borrowing from bricklayers and carpenters and so on. Bro, make your school experience count in your favour. Start doing something while you keep your eyes fixed on the ultimate goal which will definitely come but now you have to survive. And survive you will. Good luck! |

mohd001:Great idea drawn from superior thinking. Your attitude however sucks. If you can change your attitude to something more positive you would be amazed at how successful you could become in bread business. This link helped someone I referred it to previously. I hope it can also help you in the same vein. https://www.nairaland.com/5437971/bread-distribution-quiet-untapped-goldmine If you are not satisfied, you may DM me. I do have some tips that could help you in bread distribution. |
Freeheart:What major industry do you have in Ojo? Any higher institution in close proximity? |
adeksam91:Based on your willingness to consider a sales role albeit temporarily while seeking a more appropriate professional position, I will will send you a message via WhatsApp if your number above is enabled for that platform. |
uncleteeh:I can relate with how difficult it can be for you to get something by way of a job in Ibadan. I strongly advise that you look at some income generating opportunities like trading. I could recommend a few options for you which would require a minimal capital outlay like 25,000 but which could give you an earning of between 5,000 -7,000 every week depending on the number of trading cycles you complete. Traditional business using a very simple model. Would you be interested? |
Oreoluwanimi:This is one of the better posts on this thread. It exudes confidence and focus. It also shows the candidate to be energetic, fearless while at the same time exhibiting willingness to learn tendencies and a large does of professional flexibility. I see this poster attracting attention from potential employers or interested Associates sooner than later. Congratulations in advance. |
