wemzack:Your profile is quite impressive but I must say that the bolded does not reflect the experiences that you should have acquired going by your stated age. It just sends out vibes of fear and lack of courage which does not justify the experience in your profile. Many organizations are more inclined to take younger applicants for paid salaries because of the ease required in training them. For the older applicants like me and you we are assessed by our track record and immediately the potential employer senses that you are not target driven as can be misconstrued from the bolded, your application process begins to suffer hiccups. Your best bet lies in your willing need to be flexible in negotiating your reward to reflect a balance in both salary and commission. Actually, many commission based engagements have proven more advantageous than the fixed salary in the long term. These are however my personal thoughts gleaned from my experience in FMCG sales over the years. |
smallrincowis16:Where exactly is that location in the larger scheme of the Ibadan geography? Could you possibly be interested in FMCG sales. I know someone who could be interested in you but it would be nice if you could indicate your no go areas as the OP of the thread suggested. |
KngGezy:Vintage Bro! More than apt! Very deep. |
Raise a little cash; Look for something that is in high demand in Lagos. Buy and sell in Abeokuta on a regular basis. Quit poverty for life. Thank me later. |
blessedchild234:@Blessedchild234! Do you reside in Abeokuta? I have something that may interest you. If yes, drop your number here pls. |
Sabaugo:You now had to come out and wash your soiled linen and spread it for the view of the entire world. I feel terrible for employers. This is the quality is expression that the employer has to deal with. Lady, believe me you do not even deserve half of that amount. You should consider yourself lucky that you have such a well paying job despite being a paragon of mediocrity. You spoilt my day. So sad! |
Graxie:Your email address appears to be erroneous. You may wish to correct it. |
onlykay01:Are you sure you want to do a business that requires only 50k as initial capital outlay? I hope you know that it will require a lot of physical exertion to make up for the small capital injection. If you are still interested you may wish to get across to me. |
Overself:Yes you can! |
I hope this helps. Good luck! |
h. Finally and this is very laughable but also tested and proven; the product of choice must be something that the Aboki/Mallam Kiosks sell. Many people have no idea whatsoever of how much opportunity exists in servicing the neigbourhood Aboki kiosks. Suffice to state here that supplying goods to Aboki is an entire enterprise by itself. If you can grow the number of Aboki clientele to 100 and you service them with goods worth just N1000 per week (and this is a gross underrepresentation) and all you glean from each one is 100.00 that would amount to 10k weekly, 40k monthly and 500k annually. I have introduced a nairalander to this model and it is working for him like magic. A typical case of hidden treasure. |
a. It must be a high in demand produc that is used/consumed by the greater percentage of the population. b. Make sure that the product is also what children and women buy. c. It must be a product that is consumed one-off thus necessitating repeat purchases. d. It must be a product that the shelf-life is not too long and also not too short. e. It must be a product that must be easy to convey around for distribution since you do not have a car YET f. It must also be a product that you can start the sales with 1/3 of your savings. I will explain this further subsequently. g. The product must also have the capacity to earn you at least 10 percent profit on every cycle of investment. In other words your 50,000.00 investment must give you at least 5,000 per week and nothing less. |
I will therefore on the strength of this recommend that you for now retain your job and start a Part time trading business. And why part time you may wish to ask…..This is a very important question. I am suggesting part time for two major reasons; 1. I do not suggest that you leave the job from where you saved your initial capital. I would rather suggest that you consider that whatever business model that will allow you some time to run around to augment your 30k income. Grow the business side by side gradually but steadily. When the business can earn a monthly profit that is equivalent to your monthly salary you may then commence the disengagement process. Commencing here does not mean immediate resignation. It may just mean increasing your working capital and expanding your reach and of course rejigging your strategy. This should lead you to doubling your profits within 6 months thus setting the tone for resignation into full time business. 2. As simplistic as it may sound, I will advise that you invest in trading. In our current economic reality, the most profitable investment that comes with guaranteed returns is trading especially if you take the time to identify a product that will appeal to the masses. Several products exist in the FMCG spectrum. If you can start out and stick with packaged edibles within the 50,00 – 100.00 band then you might as well be on the right path. More specifically, I am recommending that you start with a product that is in very high demand for which no one else is distributing in your neighbourhood. The idea is for you to distribute these products either early in the morning before resuming in school or after school hours. Whatever product you choose must have the following attributes; |
BabaIbo:This may be quite long but if you can read through it you may just benefit from it one way or the other. Dear OP (and other interested readers who may be in the same circumstances with the OP) I make the following suggestions. OP please do not even try a business model that you do not understand. This is the first prong of my advice. In coming to seek advice here, I assume that you have not yet zeroed in in what you really should do. Do not blame yourself too much as it is not entirely your fault. Teaching (and indeed other salary paying opportunities) always does that to people. It has a way of sapping you completely of your ingenuity and also instilling significant fear in you but do not worry. A lot of people will advise you to follow your passion and upgrade this passion into something viable and profitable. I personally do not think that passion is enough. Yes, passion will ignite your enthusiasm but please understand that it cannot go beyond certain borders. In order to excel in any business you embark on, ensure that you know as much as possible about your preferred business. |
Mkmoney:Empty your mind of presumption. You have already fixed an expected outcome in your mind. Any suggestion/recommendation that is made which does not fit your subliminally established framework will not work. Several ideas have been placed here (and some of them really wonderful) but you and some others cannot see it because of the aforementioned reason. Nairaland is replete with great ideas that are practical and realistic. Some of them sound simplistic bit I can assure you they work very well. Some of the proffered ideas sound ludicrous and perhaps ridiculous but I have seen may Nairalanders who have great stories to tell. Many people who scoff at some of these ideas have no practical experience thus understanding of the dynamics of business in the real world. The OP has worked very hard to save this amount. He does not need experiments. He needs sound and proven ideas that will enable him build on what capital he has already. At this rather embryonic stage of his business life, he must avoid fantastic ideas and high yield (read high risk) opportunities no matter how attractive it is. |
BabaIbo:I am impressed by your simplicity. You have also displayed uncommon patience and tenacity. May you not lose this money in your quest for business. I am going to attempt a very sincere response to this request for information. It will be a three part post. Pls study it carefully and should it meet your expectations feel free to embark on that mission with the same attributes you exhibited when you started and grew your teaching career. |
sammyscholar:I just noticed that you reside in Ajah. There re a lot of FMCG distributorship opportunities for that axis that you could take advantage of. I actually have something I can suggest you embark on by way of a profit yielding business that is not yet available in that axis from Jakande down to Awoyaya and Epe. You my wish to contact me. |
Neddstark:Admitting one's mistake especially when very obvious is the hallmark of maturity. Rather than pour out invectives maybe you should go back and read your original post.......but this time very slowly like a retard would do and then perhaps, just maybe you could develop enough humility to apologize to your betters. |
LMay:You are permitted, intact encouraged to open a thread or several threads and display your wares at whatever price you deem fit. But please only advertise wares you have declared no longer useful here. I am sure that you know that there could be some blessing in this kind of arrangement. Some peeps get to having stuff they probably couldn't get in several years. Think about it carefully. |
teebozz:Clearance sales simply connotes sales of items that one no longer needs. In other words those items need to be cleared. It can come in different forms like garden sales, flea market sales etc. Let us not justify greed. Its simply preposterous for someone to become a middleman for a clearance sales. Nobody should begrudge another for being a middle man and therefore earning a living but please use a regular sales thread or platform. Avoid the clearance sales thread, this is for people who need to clear out their stuff and allow others who cannot afford new ones to access these items. |
beinstein:I have a fetish for 'used' kitchen cabinets especially the ones that are on auction to the highest bidder. As a matter of fact the diviner in my wife's church had prophesied that I should buy a useless kitchen cabinet of exactly the same dimensions as advertised. I hereby on the strength of the above offer the sum of 500,000.00 for your useless cabinet. Please call me immediately to finalize and effect the transfer and delivery. |
Finally, an attempt at balancing the story has emerged. Not good enough as there are also a number of questions this has brought up. The appointment letter is far from professional. It is at best sparse and tardy. The issuer and recipient were both foolish in issuing and receiving. The reaction of Glory smacks of crass ignorance, bitterness and short term perspective. She was given recharge cards for data and other supports to do the job....now if she even as much as watched Netflix during work hours and this is proven the the tables would have turned. Finally, Madam Otedola, this case shows your ineptitude in hiring and managing contemporary Nigerian graduates. This girl should never have been hired in the first place and where it even happened on the basis of empathy or some form of insurmountable pressure, I assure you that she should have been sacked within 48 hours. No Indian Manager worth his salt would have allowed this to fester for even one week. I still await further details and I assure you they will come. For now, Glory should recant and apologise and ensure that this matter is doused. She is already a candidate for libel. Her spontaneity could do her in. She called the woman a scammer. This is the crux of the matter. Honestly, she cannot womb n this count....and I should know better. Let's get popcorn and relax. It's going to be very interesting. |
Bari22:Shouldn't we at least hear the other side of the story first? She also deserves to be heard. Our blood is too hot and we react most times from a very emotional standpoint. Objectivity requires our viewing the entire episode dispassionately. |
cellatreffen:I am offering 20k for the single American chair. 20k for the collapsible 2 seater. |
Announcing that you are a lawyer doesn't change much my learned associate. We do not need to wear our leanings, callings and professions on our sleeves. I assure you that viewed from a very a very objective standpoint, the case will tip in favour of Cars 45. I assure you that the lady victim would have been soundly advised against legalising the matter. Again this was legit but obviously morally unsound. Kelvin30286063: |
TruthinAction:Again, my apologies for sounding so detached from reality but let's attempt to adjudge this thing dispassionately. Oyedepo has made a very undeniably significant contribution to our National growth through the set up of Covenant university. So has Atiku, Elizade, Age Babalola, Igbenedion, etc. Now the controversy surrounding the source of the initial funding is a totally different subject matter. For all purposes and intent, some other people should set us scholarships, endow grants, and provide angel student loans to people who are brilliant enough to study in these schools but cannot afford them. In my opinion, Government at all levels should divest from Education especially at the tertiary level. It is too serious a matter to be treated with ignominy as is witnessed now Believe me, if you ever have the chance to interview many Nigerian graduates you will discover why we have been retrogressing in leaps and bounds. Public education is a big SHAM. Be it First generation, second generation federal and even state institutions. We really should be thankful to Oyedepo and co for RESCUING us from the sinking ship called public education. If I am granted life and the wherewithal, I would rather my offsprings learn a good trade after a good foundation in a private secondary school than attend a public university. My two pence though. |
TruthinAction:Quality education is expensive the world over. It is most definitely not designed to cater for the less privileged unless buffers are provided by government Nd other well meaning philanthropic bodies. As a matter of fact I used to think that CU was expensive until I was opportuned to get close to the system and her products. Oyedepo deserves uncommon applause. He is providing superior quality education for those who can actually priotise education above all else. Meanwhile, I am totally of the opinion that Government should have as little as possible to do with education as they have shown over time that they simply do not have a clue. Just think about a recent gaffe where the government decided to withdraw history as a subject from the curriculum and left Islamic studies and CRK intact. Is that one a government? Appraise the university from a clinically objective point of view and you will find out that it is providing an education for the future. Education for self sufficiency. |
cckalima:No angst meant. An 'AVERAGE' Eagle (Covenant Uni Graduate) is far better than an 'AVERAGE' Great Ife or indeed any other average graduate from ANY Public university in Nigeria. Please note that the key word here is ' AVERAGE'. The most important attribute they are imbued with is attitude. Something terribly lacking among the majority of public school graduates. Let it be stated clearly that this is drawn from experience. I have worked with some CU graduates and I am impressed. Oyedepo does deserve kudos. |
Sad |
uboma:It's sad how you seem to think that your scope of business appreciation is at its very best. I wish you had added that your recognition is limited to your experience . There are several businesses that will give you 1% returns on a daily basis. I mean SEVERAL especially within the ambit of FMCG sales both at distribution and retail level. The only snag is that there will be a gestation period which span will be determined by certain variables. It remains the prerogative of every Nairalander to publicise the business that earns this amount or otherwise. But rest assured that these kinds of businesses abound. To further shock you with consistency and appropriate strategizing the profit will move to even 10 per cent with time. And try not to publicly display your ignorance even in an anonymous forum. |
ONNYX:Hello Oga, I have been trying to reach you like forever. I have sent you PM's repeatedly and no response. I also dug out your email and sent you a mail directly but yet no response. Kindly help me out by indicating how I can take just 10 minutes of your time. I need to start the bread distribution business immediately and I am counting on your guidance. |
xpresseeve:Interesting! How do we contact you? |
