It's not possible to set up a reasonable laundry shop in a decent location with that rather paltry sum. You could of course look at an alternate laundry services model where you go around collecting the clothes, paying some locals to wash and iron while you return the clothes. This could be initiated and kept on stream with even 50,000(outside space/shop considerations).

There would then be a build up to setting up a proper laundry service.

It really depends on the product you choose to sell.

If you choose a product with a short shelf life and the source is far away from the consumers then you will have some difficulties which my translate into losses.
So Abuja and other major towns should consider either products made in their surrounding or go for products with longer shelf life from other towns.

Trading is one of the options you may consider. However only very fast moving products can deliver this margin.

My experience shows that this can only be attained via an aggressive sales strategy where the product (or service) is very hot in demand Fast Moving Consumer Product. You can even get it with a smaller Capital outlay.

A number of variables must however be considered. In order to make such returns, the production outfit must not be far from the market in order to beat time.

The population of the market must also be reasonably large enough to accommodate this kind of sales onslaught.

The product price must be appropriate and reachable for as many people as possible.

Finally, target small and medium companies with great products. You cannot survive the competition synonymous with large companies. And do get yourself an exclusivity caveat for your preferred territory.

And it isnt as complex as ity appear. Do however note that 'everything is difficult at the beginning'.


Avoid terrains you cannot understand now like online businesses. Also avoid high yielding investments as they are likely to be high risk ventures too.

Just start out small with let's say a mobile trade in daily essentials that you can deliver to retailers Nd then pick up your cash later. I suggest that you just try out what you choose with nothing more than 20% of your savings and then ascertain the viability of the business before increasing your stakes or scaling up

You have done well for yourself so far.

I think leaving the job and your friend asking you to leave is the best thing that has happened in your life so far. This is the trigger required to refocus your abilities towards harnessing your potentials towards indescribable success.

Muster the feeling of gratitude and express same to your friend. Ask him for some time and seek guidance for your next step. I think you already have too much money. 250k is such a large amount that 5 people at your experience level could tap into it.

If you are entirely new to business, I would suggest that you try less risky businesses especially those you can quickly divest your money from within the shortest possible time.

This economy at least in its present trajectory favours traders. People consume more than they produce. My suggestion would be that you identify a product that the masses love and push it into the market.

Concentrate on the small and medium scale companies and not on large ones. If the product is new but 'wonderful' then it's a question of time you will break even. Pls your emphasis should be on affordable products (between 50 and 100 max 200).

I write from personal experience. I have tried as a side hustle and then a major hustle. And that's the best approach for me.

So identify a product that will sell in your proximity, test run the product with small investment and if you are satisfied then you can take the plunge and go full steam by investing 500k and then 1mill later when absolutely convinced.

And because of their humble disposition and dreary presentation we make the mistake of thinking that they are not doing well. They could be doing better than those of us who appear smart in our latest designer suits and smelling fine.

I started this business I recommended in September and I tell you that I have learnt so much in that short time. There is so much one can do if one is willing to come off his high horse and deliver what society desires no matter the garb required.

I had heard from the grapevine that one of my former colleagues was riding Keke now and had just taken the news with a pinch of salt.

Two weeks ago I ran into him at Agege, Pen Cinema and was surprised. We chatted a bit and he revealed to me that he has a Keke now and he earns a minimum of 5,000 net profit daily. The surprising thing is that he is not registered with any keke park.

He also had two Kekes registered in a park that he knows and they make consistent returns to him weekly. He says that they don't fail simply because they know that he is in the same business so he knows what's up.
