Let me preclude the nay sayers, those who will say that she is a woman and went for the purpose of nothing else for being companion of the prophet (AS), I need to remind you that the effort of struggle was not kept to the men, alone. The first to die for Islam, a woman was among them in Makka. Nobody ignored her because she was a woman. We see that the Pagan arab women featured prominently in wars, too. Further if it was because of Muhammad alone, Allah would have given the exclusive statement about it, as was given about his wives wearing Nikab in Surah Azhab. And also talking about his marriages in a special way in the same Azhab. And Allah would never have been shy about it, since He was not shy in Surah Azhab telling the companions not to disturb te Messenger (AS) spending time without any clear reason with him, Finally Alah would have give direction, as to His telling him about his marriage to Zainab to stop adoption in the way it was practiced in preIslam, and also in Surah Abasa talking about his mere turning his face . The above answers the below: Read, $Osisi. Its not always about Dollars! LOL. aisha was not going there as a warrior. She went to keep mohammed company at night Isn't that commonsense? |
$Osisi: You dont know how to read any more? lol. Sorry. I love you anyways. I had stated earlier at the bottom of what you closed your eyes to at the end, that Allah would have spoken about it, it was just "keeping her husband warm". You know the answer came to me in the shower before I posted it. Read the bottom part, again. Then read the correspondent verses inSurah Azhab. I know you have been playing with Ali Sina too long. Commot! |
Ahadith, again by definition, is what was said by the prophet. Or what was said in his presence and he did not object to or corrected. No one has pointed out the 6 to 9 year old statement by out mother (RA) as a stament said in the presence of the prophet (AS). Hence, was it really an ahadith or a attar (Statement made by companions)? A woman in the field of war will be in danger; even if she was only mending the wounds and providing supplies. Everyone in strategy of war knows that supply is key almost important as the prosecutors, the combatants. I will not take her role lightly. |
According to a number of narratives, Ayesha (ra) accompanied the Muslims in the battle of Badr and Uhud. Furthermore, it is also reported in books of hadith and history that no one under the age of 15 years was allowed to take part in the battle of Uhud. All the boys below 15 years of age were sent back. Ayesha's (ra) participation in the battle of Badr and Uhud clearly indicate that she was not nine or ten years old at that time. After all, women used to accompany men to the battle fields to help them, not to be a burden on them. A narrative regarding Ayesha's (ra) participation in Badr is given in Muslim, Kitaab al-jihaad wa al-siyar, Arabic, Bab karahiyah al-isti`anah fi al-ghazwi bikafir. Ayesha (ra) while narrating the journey to Badr and one of the important events that took place in that journey, says: When we reached Shajarah. It is quite obvious from these words that Ayesha (ra) was with the group traveling toward Badr. A narrative regarding Ayesha's (ra) participation in the battle of `uhud is given in Bukhari, Kitaab al-jihaad wa al-siyar, Arabic, Baab Ghazwi al-nisaa wa qitalihinna ma`a al-rijaal. Anas reports that On the day of Uhud, people could not stand their ground around the Prophet (pbuh). [On that day,] I saw Ayesha (ra) and Umm-e-Sulaim (ra), they had pulled their dress up from their feet [to save them from any hindrance in their movement]." As far as the fact that children below 15 years were sent back and were not allowed to participate in the battle of `uhud, it is narrated in Bukhari, Kitaab al-maghaazi, Baab ghazwah al-khandaq wa hiya al-ahzaab, Arabic. Ibn `umar (ra) states that the Prophet (pbuh) did not permit me to participate in Uhud, as at that time, I was fourteen years old. But on the day of Khandaq, when I was fifteen years old, the Prophet (pbuh) permitted my participation." Let me preclude the nay sayers, those who will say that she is a woman and went for the purpose of nothing else for being companion of the prophet (AS), I need to remind you that the effort of struggle was not kept to the men, alone. The first to die for Islam, a woman was among them in Makka. Nobody ignored her because she was a woman. We see that the Pagan arab women featured prominently in wars, too. According to another narrative in Bukhari (kitabu'l-tafseer) Ayesha (ra) is reported to have said that at the time Surah Al-Qamar, the 54th chapter of the Qur'an, was revealed, "I was a young girl". The 54th surah of the Qur'an was revealed nine years before Hijrah. According to this tradition, Ayesha (ra) had not only been born before the revelation of the referred surah, but was actually a young girl (jariyah), not an infant (sibyah) at that time. Obviously, if this narrative is held to be true, it is in clear contradiction with the narratives reported by Hisham ibn `urwah. I see absolutely no reason that after the comments of the experts on the narratives of Hisham ibn `urwah, why we should not accept this narrative to be more accurate. "Ayesha (ra) said: I was a young girl, when verse 46 of Surah Al-Qamar, [the 54th chapter of the Qur'an], was revealed. (Sahih Bukhari, kitabu'l-tafsir, Arabic, Bab Qaulihi Bal al-sa`atu Maw`iduhum wa'l-sa`atu adha' wa amarr) Heres another proof Tabari in his treatise on Islamic history, while mentioning Abu Bakr (ra) reports that Abu Bakr had four children and all four were born during the Jahiliyyah -- the pre Islamic period. Obviously, if Ayesha (ra) was born in the period of jahiliyyah, she could not have been less than 14 years in 1 AH -- the time she most likely got married. The original statement in Tabari, its translation and reference follows: "All four of his [Abu Bakr's] children were born of his two wives -- the names of whom we have already mentioned -- during the pre-Islamic period."(Tarikhu'l-umam wa'l-mamlu'k, Al-Tabari, Vol 4, Pg 50, Arabic, Dara'l-fikr, Beirut, 1979) Tabari has a lot of weight. His history is considered the most authentic out of all the early Imams. Some may say hes higher than Bukhari because Bukhari was only a compiler, as Tarabi was a compiler, narrator and a historian himself. If he says something (like aisha being in puberty) VERY rarely is he wrong. This is not one of those times. His writings are often held side-by-side with Bukhari and other scholars. |
@Abuzola: The first ahadith is about the age of people who were permit to go to war, during the life time of the prophet. Below is a proof that Aisha was old enough to go to war during Badr: According to hadith in Bukhari and Muslim, Aisha is said to have joined Muhammad on the raid that culminated in the Battle of Badr, in 624 CE. However, because no one below the age of fifteen was allowed to accompany raiding parties, Aisha should have been at least fifteen in 624 CE and thus at least thirteen when she was married following the Hijra in 622 CE. Later on, I will give you proof that no one was allowed to join in war, except they reach the age of puberty. Even David, as a lad was tested about his age, before they allowed him, under King Saul, to go to war, only for his bravery and we know that Goliat was slaughtered as a result of it. Consider the following tracts from Sahih Bukhari: [size=14px]The boy attaining the age of puberty and the validity of their witness and the Statement of Allâh: "And when the children among you attain the age of puberty, then let them also ask for permission (to enter)." Qur'ân 24:59. Al Mughira said, "I attained puberty at the age of twelve." The attaining of puberty by women is with the start of menses, as is referred to by the Statement of Allâh: "Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them prescribed period if you have any doubts (about their periods) is three months, " [Qur'ân, 65:4] , Al-Hasan bin Salih said, "I saw a neighbour of mine who became a grandmother at the age of twenty-one." [The note for this reference says: "This woman attained puberty at the age of nine and married to give birth to a daughter at ten; the daughter had the same experience."][/size] (source: http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/Polemics/aishah.htm) Oh, and not forgetting to mention that it is very possible even in todays society for a girl of nine to give birth to a child:Thus there is no reason whatsoever why Aisha (r.a.) didn't reach the age of puberty at the age of nine. You have to only take a very hostile stance to make such a claim with no proof whatsoever. Case closed |
@Noetic: A stong believer is a person who has some benefit for people. Maybe by his wealth, knowledge, physical strength, etc. For example, a believer who is wealthy and generous with his wealth by helping many to attain their goals, for the pleasure of Allah, is beloved more through his financial strenght, than a poor man with the same amount of belief. The poor believer is a weak believer, whose belief only benefits him, and no other financially needy people can benefit from him what they want. I dont know about your pedophile, because a pedophile cantbe a good muslim. It is obvious. By the way since you are so gonho on proofing who is a pedophile, what is the younger age that a man in yoir age group can marry, before somebody accuses you of pedophilia? What is the youngest age a female who is eager to get marry must reach before any man can marry her and will be safe from being called a pedophile? What is the age a man in my age, 50s must never go below before you call me a pedophile? If my wife sits on my thighs is that wrong? And can I be accused of thighing her? Will you ever let your wife (I am assuming that you will do what man normally do, soon) sit on your thighs/lap for fear that you may be "thighing her?" By the way, how does anyone know when a man who is not a Viewer or an exhibitionist is thighing his wife? Did the wife go out and say so, or he was so eager to tell the whole world of his thighing his wife? Or was he doing it in front of people, while they allsit around and not worried, about the obvious sexual activity going on in front of them? $Osisi, are you listening, too? Along with Davidylan? I know am addressing noetic, so he is already prepared to answer my questions. He asked for it. he sets up the sceb=nerios, so we shall expect to read from him. |
@Abuzola: Dont say Baba to God. Leave that to the kafr who called themselves Children of god. By the way where is my baby Pilgrim.1? I miss that girl, very much. |
@$Osisi: « #83 on: Yesterday at 09:36:13 PM » The Dictionary of Islam (Hughes Dictionary of Islam, p.223) writes that Jabr was one of the Ahlu-l-Kitab and was well-read in the Taurat and Injil, and Muhammad used to hear him read these books as he passed by his house. Muhammad must have learned from Jabr many of those Suras dealing with the traditions of the Christians and the Jews. Most likely the verses on David and Solomon were composed by Jabr. Some of these verses are (only the main messages are shown here; for details read the entire verse):And he waited around this man's building hiding, long enough till the illiterate man get the gist of the story, Yet above, your Christian writer said he did not know what he wrote for him since he was an illiterate. Do you see holes as long as a football field in your stories? Shouldn't these men, one remaining a muslim, still could easily have known that he was lying? Yet he told his community that Pharaoh's body was preserved not perished and lost in the sea? And alas, we found the body! You owe me, woman for not getting your stories straight. And Muhammad was able to preserve the honor of Joseph, which the Bible story missed. Muhammad the illiterate story repeater managed to show that Joseph demanded that the wife of his boss, confess about her "running after him, instead of him doing that after her!" « #84 on: Yesterday at 09:38:29 PM »He said cover me up, first. She did and consoled him first. The later at some point, in the future date went to Waraqah. And in pat post, Davidylan said in his response to christian usage of Allah for God, the bible was not written before Quran. Hence the arab christians are forced to say Allah for God! $Osis, bia, who is lying, you, davidylan, the arab christians, the arab bible, or all of the listed? Even Waraqah knew that there was Jibril comrading with Muhammad! And Waraqah said, I will join him, if I live long enough to see his mission take root! so much for the revelationsYou cant help yourself can you? No! then see this « #85 on: Yesterday at 09:46:29 PM »And the revelation began, without Waraqah, for 23 yaers? How about that, Ms. Osisi? How did Waraqah play in the 23 years of revelation? He was doing it from where, Ms. Osisi? « #86 on: Yesterday at 09:48:53 PM » But a short while later Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was paused (stopped) for a while so that Allah's Apostle was very much grieved…[Al-Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 478]What revelation? @$Osisi: « #82 on: Yesterday at 09:34:22 PM » ume Vol4, Book 56, Number 814:And this "christian was the only scribe? Yet Jibril (AS) came down often to reveal more revelations. Yet every year he and Muhammd read what ever is "the Quran" up to that point contained, in the month of ramadan, to each other. And in the last year 2 times by each entity human and angel. And there was no time Jibril corrected Muhammad and said that the "christian guy had lied. changed what I revealed to you?" And yet he wa corrected, according to you of the "satanic verse?" @Chrisbenogor: « #79 on: Yesterday at 09:02:46 PM » Very good questions, he can start by explaining the shia and suni thingy. What is this thread about anyway, is there any archeological evidence for the existence of Moses?Chrisbenogor, forgive me for spelling your name wrong in the previous post. Now we see the body of the late tyrannical pharaoh who drowned in the story of Musa's (AS) victorious leading out the children of iIsrael out of Egypt. Thats enough evidence. Ask the Egyptians; the body is well known as such by them! The pharaoh happened to be black. Kinda like you in his unbelief. THe shia and sunni, as you call them still does not become a unique thing. Afterall, siblings from the same parents fight and become even deadly enemies. Yet from the sam pool of siblings in the same family, you have these two mortal enemies being friendly to the others. In the case of the muslims, you have the same thing. Call them shia and sunni, if it suits you Alas, the have the same exact Quran. I quess then that their enemity is not that bad afterall. |
@Christanob: I am going to attend to Krayola for a moment. So sit tight and watch. @Krayola: « #78 on: Yesterday at 07:49:42 PM » Is the Kaaba a unifier because u interpret it as such or did the QUran say that is what it is? I understand that it serves that function. I'm just saying that someone who sees a bunch of people facing a stone at a certain location and bowing can see that as idol worship, delusion, or just madness. .Since you said you saw it as a unifer, too, there is no reason for me to bring out a verse that commands that it is the direction that one needs to face in prayer. Finally, it is all stone. You have bricks, woods and sand in it, too. And there is nothing inside it. But it s not the stone that is the direction that muslims face. But the building, because it is the first house built for the worship of Allah/God on earth. There is a replica of it, existing in heavens before Adam was created. It is called Bait Mamoor and the Angels at least 70,000 of them make hajj there daily, and never to repeat it. Just imagine how many angels that have done this, since the order to do so was given by the Creator Himself? And by the way, there is nothing wrong in having a focal point for worship or other things, as appropriate. The wrong in others is there is no currently active command, in worship except what is provided in Islam. Kinda like u are doin with the cross. . .u see people wear a cross and say they are worshiping it. And when they try to give u their understanding of it, u just dismiss it as garbage. They say its "symbolic", u say its nothing but idol worship, but u say kaaba is a "unifier", and expect us to accept that. There is a great difference. Jesus did not war the cross. Muhhamd prayed facing Kaaba. It is commanded in the Quran so. Cross is not commanded in Bible so. Muhammad is a Muslim. Jesus is not a Christian. He was only a Jew by ethnicity and not by religion, because he never prayed like the Jews, today, or yesterday. Rather he prayed like Muslims. Jesus, according to the Christians was nailed to and died on the same cross. Neither happened with Muhammad in Kaaba. Finally whatever killed Muhammad (AS) is not loved and revered and kept as a "symbol" by Muslims. Muslims do not wish death. It is forbidden. You see the few specific difference? Why can't ur unified belief in Allah be enough. . .why bow to a stone at a place 5 times a day?Allah commanded all the things that muslims do. Allah says that one should obey Muhammad and follow him, if such a person truly loves Allah. Thats why we do what we do. Anyone who does anything outside it, especially those things He condemns, or His prophet (AS) condemns, such a doer is an evil person. I do not say that muslim individuals can not be evil now, because you see death and mayhem being committed by many. What am saying is that a person who follows Quran and authentic sunnah/hadith will not go wrong, by Allah. And the 5 daily prayers, etc are all commanded by Him, and Muhammad did everyone of them! And it is not a stone one bows to, but towards a building where the stone you are inferring to is just a part of. And by the way, Ibraim the father of faith, after Noah's flood participated in building that building and placing that sone in its place in Kaaba. What is reasonable and logical about that and why can't the same principle of charity u expect be extended to Christians?I never stopped the Christians. You Krayola who does not believe in God should be asked the same question; Why is it that you have advocated the abandonement if not distruction of religions? Also, when Muslims pray, the postures. . bowing, kneeling, prostrating etc. is that mandated by the Qu'ran, or is that something that developed on its own?Mandated in the Quran of Allah. I though you had studied Islam before you rejected faith altogether? Go back and study, Mr. Do all Muslims believe the exact same thing? If you were to tell me how U practice Islam and I were to observe my Muslim friends, would I see exactly what u described? Is there only one genuine expression of Islam? And if there are others, how do they reconcile their practice with the Qu'ran? There are 5 pillars that comprise Islam; Belief in Allah and the last messenger, Muhammad. Belief in God Angels, His revealed books, His messengers and prophets, day of judgement, destiny, paradise and hell, and reward for good deeds. This is just the first part of five. The next is makimg 5 daily salah, charity, the obligatory and the voluntary, Fasting, the obligatory and the voluntary, and hajj, when you have the financial means after all debts have been settled. If anyone rject anyone of these, he/she is not a muslim. He has to go back to begin Islam again. |
Giving me a definition of ahadith? Will the final person have to be anyone else, except Muhammad (AS)? Lets think about it for a moment. Can there be a statement of a sahaba, male or female (RA Jamaia) that could be called ahadith, if it wasnot a statement of Muhammad (AS)? Let us start from there. I will email you an article this evening about this same subject "Aisha's age". |
Conclusion: It was the aforementioned qualities of Aisha ® and the Prophet's guidance in molding these capabilities for the service of Islam, were the main reasons, why the Prophet Married young Aisha ®, and not the perverted reasons brought forth by misguided orientalists. Muslims invite all sincere humans to study the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon) in the light of the authentic sources of the Quran and the Sunnah (exemplary sayings and deeds of the Prophet) and judge for themselves where the truth lies. Indeed, by recognizing the truth of Islam as the final and complete Guidance sent by our Creator can humanity find lasting peace in this world and a means of salvation from the hell fire in the hereafter. "I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today." George Bernard Shaw, THE GENUINE ISLAM, Vol. 1, No. 81936. check also: http://www.sunnahfollowers.net/ppt/ali/Prophets-Marriage-to-Aisha_files/frame.htm One advice gockhan ozcaner dont let your Imaan (faith) be that weak that u will consider breaking it ever. If theres somthing u dont consider as just or morally correct look into it ask the right scholars insha Allah u will be rid of ur misconception by doing this And the writer is an american woman. Not a muslim because of marriage, etc. By the way I know authentic yanks who are 3 generations of Islam, yet. |
Arwa Bin Zubair says, "I did not find anyone more proficient (than Aisha ®) in the knowledge of the Holy Quran, the Commandments of Halal (lawful) and Haram (prohibited), Ilmul-Ansab and Arabic poetry. That is why, even senior companions of the Prophet used to consult Aisha ® in resolving intricate issued". Jala-ul-Afham by Ibn Qaiyem and Ibn Sa'ad, Vol.2, p.26 Abu Musa al-Ashari says: "Never had we (the companions) had any difficulty for the solution of which we approached Aisha and did not get some useful information from her". Sirat-I-Aisha, on the authority of Trimidhi, pg. 163 The life of Aishah (R) is a proof that a woman can be far more learned than men and that she can be the teacher of scholars and experts. Her life is also a proof that a woman can exert influence over men and women and provide them with inspiration and leadership. Aisha (R) is a continuing inspiration and role model to today's youth who are diligently searching for an example amongst the pop stars, movie actresses and sports stars. May the memory of her's live forever in the heart of the Muslim Ummah and may Allah grant her the highest abode in Paradise…Aameen. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) lived 1400 years ago, many traditions have evolved since then. Prophet Muhammad like other prophets of the Torah and Bible lived natural lives. Prophets in the old testament not only married young women, but also married multiple wives. Like King David and Solomon (peace be upon them) who married hundreds of women. The Old Testament also has examples of old Prophets marrying young girls. In Genesis 16:1-16, an 86-year- old Prophet of God slept with a young maiden of his own wife without marrying her, as the Bible says. Are we to not believe he was not a prophet, or it could be that the text was taken out of context. MARRIAGE TO AISHA The marriage of Muhammad to Aisha is not mentioned anywhere in the Quran (the most sacred Muslim text, and regarded as perfect divine revelation). Aisha's marriage is mentioned in what is called the Hadith (tradition and sayings of the prophet). The hadith is open to more scrutiny and there is an entire science behind determining the authenticity of a hadith. While most scholars have agreed that Aisha was 9 years old when she married Prophet Muhammad, many scholars opposed that view and believed that she was 18 or 19. But putting that aside and even if we agree that she was 9 years old at the time of her marriage, there are logical answers to the false accusations made against Prophet Muhammad. |
Comment: None of the criteria of child-abuse applies to the noble life of the Prophet (pbuh). There is no single incident of any infliction of pain and suffering by the prophet on Aisha or any other human being for that matter. Neither any instance of verbal or sexual abuse can be concluded from the relationship of the prophet with Aisha ® or any of his wives. An abused child can have serious future consequences…delayed physical growth, impaired language, learning and behavior…etc (above definition). As one examines the chaste life of Aisha ®, her personality, physical, mental and spiritual development are all contrary to that of an abused child. In fact through the Prophet's marriage and his guidance to Aisha, history testifies that she should be labeled not as an abused child but as a 'blessed child'. After analyzing and refuting the accusations against the noble character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the only viable alternative left with us is: The Prophet married Aisha for the benefit of Islam and Humanity. Her Marriage with the prophet was a Wahi (Divine Revelation). She, herself relates from the Prophet, 'He said, "I saw you in dreams three times. The angel brought you to me and you were clad in white silk. He (the angel) said that it was your consort and he (angel) showed me by opening your face. You are just like that…" Sahih Muslim, Vol.2, p.285. Aisha ® was born after her parents had embraced Islam. Therefore, she was free from the defilement of polytheism right from her birth. In her youth, already known for her striking beauty and her formidable memory, she came under the loving care and attention of the Prophet himself. As his wife and close companion she acquired from him knowledge and insight such as no woman has ever acquired. Aishah lived on almost fifty years after the passing away of the Prophet. She had been his wife for a decade. Much of this time was spent in learning and acquiring knowledge of the two most important sources of God's guidance, the Quran and the Sunnah of His Prophet. Aishah ® was one of the three wives (the other two being Hafsa ® and Umm Salamah ®) who memorized the Revelation. Like Hafsa ®, she had her own script of the Quran written after the Prophet had died. So far as the Hadith or sayings of the Prophet is concerned, Aishah ® is one of four persons (the others being Abu Hurrah, Abdullah ibn Umar, and Ana ibn Malik) who transmitted more than two thousand sayings. From her, 2210 Hadith have come, out of which 174 Hadith are commonly agreed upon by both Bukhari and Muslim. Many of her transmissions pertain to some of the most intimate aspects of personal behavior which only someone in Aishah's position could have learnt. What is most important is that her knowledge of Hadith was passed on in written form by at least three persons including her nephew Urwah who became one of the greatest scholars among the generation after the Companions. It is the claim of the Scholars of Islam that without her, half of the Ilm-I-Hadith [knowledge, understanding of the Hadith (and Islam)] would have perished. Many of the learned companions of the Prophet and their followers benefited from Aishah's knowledge. Abu Musa al-Ashari once said: "If we companions of the Messenger of God had any difficulty on a matter, we asked Aisha about it." "Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Said ibn al-Musayyab that Abu Musa al-Ashari came to Aishah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said to her, "The disagreement of the companions in a matter which I hate to bring before you has distressed me." She said, "What is that? You did not ask your mother about it, so ask me." He said, "A man penetrates his wife, but becomes listless and does not ejaculate. "She said, "When the circumcised part passes the circumcised part ghusl is obligatory." Abu Musa added, "I shall never ask anyone about this after you." Al-Muwatta of Imam Malik Hadith 2.75 |

Furthermore 'a pedophile's main mode of sexual satisfaction is with prepubescent girls' , which is contradictory to the 91% of prophet's marriage to women 17 years and over. An unbiased examination of Prophet's life and his marriages to his wives blatantly rejects the notion of his lifestyle fitting that of a pedophile. All his brides were aged widows (except Aisha and Marium). Moreover, according to the criteria in the references cited above in 'Synopsis of Psychiatry', a vast majority of pedophiles possess a history of exhibitionism, voyeurism, or rape. Again, there is no single reference from either religious or secular sources that the noble Prophet ever indulged in such sadistic behavior (God forbid). This truth is observed and accepted by both Muslims and unbiased non-Muslims scholars. "It is impossible for anyone who studies the life and character of the great Prophet of Arabia, who knows how he taught and how he lived, to feel anything but reverence for that mighty Prophet, one of the great messengers of the Supreme. And although in what I put to you I shall say many things which may be familiar to many, yet I myself feel whenever I re-read them, a new way of admiration, a new sense of reverence for that mighty Arabian teacher." – Annie Besant, THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF MUHAMMAD, Madras, 1932, p. 4. Others claim that the noble Prophet (peace be upon him) indulged in child molestation or child abuse when he married Aisha at her young age. Definition of Child Abuse: Child Abuse, also called CRUELTY TO CHILDREN, the willful and unjustifiable infliction of pain and suffering on children. The term can denote the use of inordinate physical violence; unjustifiable verbal abuse; the failure to furnish proper shelter, nourishment, medical treatment, or emotional support; incest; other cases of sexual molestation or rape; and the making of child pornography. Frequently described by the medical profession as the "battered-child syndrome," abusive treatment of children is almost universally proscribed by criminal statutes. Child abuse can have serious future consequences for the victims involved. Delays in physical growth, impaired language and cognitive abilities, and problems in personality development, learning, and behavior are common following instances of child abuse or neglect. A leading contemporary Muslim Scholar Dr. Jamal Badawi had the following to say on the topic, in his paper "Marriages of Prophet Muhammad". "Some refer to the Prophet's marriage to Aisha as "child molestation" or "pedophilia". One wonder how such a respectable well-to-do father as Abu-Bakr, would give his beloved daughter `Aisha to be "molested" and with the blessings of his wife? And how come none of the watchful critics and enemies of the Prophet never raised any question about this marriage, even though they were, like some of today's critics, eager to find any fault that may discredit the Prophet? This signifies that the marriageable age in that culture at that time was considered reaching adolescence [which may take place earlier in some cultures] as an acceptable marriageable age. The fact that that they were three years gap between the marital agreement and the dwelling of `Aisha with the Prophet seems to support the existence of this custom. In fact, `Aisha was engaged to another person before her parents decided to marry her to the Prophet instead. This shows how common this practice was. Needless to say that the successive increase of the minimum marriageable age, after reaching adolescence, is an arbitrary matter based on cultural and social norms, which is subject to change with time, culture and other circumstances. " Dr. Sabeel Ahmed analyzes each theory (child molestation" or "pedophilia) to dig out the truth, through the Guidance of Allah (SWT). A. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) married Aisha ® because he was a pedophile? Definition of a Pedophile: "Pedophile: also spelled PEDOPHILIA, psychosexual disorder in which an adult's arousal and sexual gratification occur primarily through sexual contact with prepubescent children. The typical pedophile is unable to find satisfaction in an adult sexual relationship and may have low self-esteem, seeing sexual activity with a child as less threatening than that with an adult." Encyclopedia Britannica, 1998 "pe.do.phil.ia n [NL] (1906): sexual perversion in which children are the preferred sexual object -- pe.do.phil.i.ac or pe.do.phil.ic adj." Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary The diagnostic criteria for pedophilia according to American Psychiatric Association: Over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent intense sexual urges and sexual arousing fantasies involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children. The person has acted on these urges, or is markedly distressed by them. DSM-III-R Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, ed 3, revised, copyright American Psychiatric Association. "In addition to their pedophilia, a significant number of pedophiles are concomitantly or have previously been involved in exhibitionism, voyeurism, or rape". (Voyeurism's the recurrent preoccupation with fantasized or acts that involve seeking out or observing people who are naked, or are engaged in grooming or in sexual activity". Synopsis of psychiatry, Harold I.Kaplan et al., 5th ed., pg360, Publishers: Williams and Wilkens, 1988 Does the Prophet fit the above criteria of a pedophile? With the above criteria of a pedophile in mind, lets analyze the lifestyle of the prophet and his marriages. |
There are many reasons for that marriage. Here is an interesting article written by a sister in Islam. I am prout that i am among the ummah of the prophet mohammad (PBUH). Don't forget that we are talking about the last prophet of Allah. There was ''hykmat'' behind every thing he did. I can post the answer on your profile as well since we know each other, but writing it here as well, becouse other brothers/sisters with the same question should also get the answer. First of all, we should know that everyone is a child of the time they live in and therefore must be evaluated according to the cultural context of the relevant time. There are certain values that form a society's customs and when a society is evaluated, these values have to be taken into consideration. Otherwise, were we to attempt to evaluate historical events within today's conditions, we should remember that we are fated to make mistakes. Second we should not form our opinion on accusations and negative propaganda. Research the authenticity of facts and records' from the original sources. Because enemies of any religion or ideology always twist the facts or make up things in order to defame the other side to create a stereo type mentality. Having said that, I like to approach this subject in two areas, first historical facts and second the character of a Prophet and his action that Allah (swt) called him mercy to mankind, an an exemplary for all of mankind, and corrected him in couple of occasions when he was wrong through divine revelation. How come no revelation came down when he married Aisha? Please keep in mind that customs and traditions including marriage change and evolve from time to time and place to place. What was normal a couple of hundred years ago, may not be acceptable today. For example a 100 years ago here in America, girls were married as young as 12 and 13 and women were not allowed to vote. Both these practices are unheard of today and would land those who practice them in jail. Dr. Kashubeck, the famous historian and author of many books pointed out in his research that here in the U.S. the age of consent for marriage was 6 until 1882. |
@$Osisi: What is sahih and what are the elements that will make an ahadith Sahih, rather than Dhaif? Do you know, you "orientalist," you? Knowledge that is not useful or beneficial is no knowledge at all. Definitely, the Prophet (AS) moved into her parents neighborhood, 15 years before Islam. Abu Bakr was 2 years younger than the prophet. Now tell me, was Aisha born before Muhammad became a neighbor? If the answer is no, then considering that her father was a close friend, neighbor to the prophet, shouldn't he know when she was born? Did her father make any report of when she was born? No. The only alternative observation, as our information to pinpoint when that was, is when she was born relative to the beginning of Islam, since her father was so known for this religion, the first to accept it, outside the family of the prophet! What about the people who were just as young as her, as a reference for her birth? Sure. It makes sense that one observes that issue. Fatima binta Muhammad (AS) was a very good example. She serves as a frame of reference for two reasons; just a tad older than her and a child just across the way from Aisha's home. Commot. I am coming with major definition of Pedophilia, and you should be prepared. By the way, if I was a neighbor's son at the time of your birth, should it not be reasonable to say, $Osisi was born when Olabowale was, ! |
@Nezan: And today you recounted your ealier promise made on the 10th of July. It is only 7 days and you had forgotten at your age. Imagine the writers of the Bible long time ago, older and the time was way more than 6 days. How much could have been remembered, especially when they were not there as things were happening. Reliability, man. Reliability. There is a thread on this subject and you just had to have another? @$Osisi, show me any of the ahadith where it came directly from the mouth of prophet Muhammad (AS) that Aisha was 6 when married and 9 when consumated? Ahadith is always, even the weak one starts with "on the authority of so and so, and so and so and so", until the sahabah's name is mentioned and will be followed that statement from the Messenger (AS) not his wife, or any companion (RA)! Thats what an ahadith is. Statement from Aisha, if true should not be an ahadith. And a test of the matter is you finding out when was she born, relative to the advent of islam of Muhammad! Thats how to be sure. |
@Sleek29:« #69 on: Today at 01:34:24 PM » the cross is only symbolic, symbolizing the remission of sins, people who worship the cross ain't christains but what you call cross worshippersSymbolic enogh to hang it on your neck. We dont have anything like that in Islam. And if we did, like you had mentioned on the poison to illustate a point, we do not keep poison in the house, or on ourselves. How do you love a erson so much that what he died on became something you love so much? What kind of love is that? Thats love to death! @Krayola (m): « #70 on: Today at 01:41:04 PM » @Aremugangan. . .How is using a cross as a symbol any different from being mandated to face the Kaaba? Is Allah a stone? For starter the stone is not a symbol. The Kaaba is at least a unifier and am sure you must know that makes sense. Even for you who professed to have no religion. That ideology is a Unifier for you and those who have the same agenda like you! And you have enough knowledge to know that no one say he saw Allah, while the stone is available to everyone to see, touch, kiss, etc. Even you, an atheist have seen the stone before, which is why you know there is a stone in there. But that stone is so small compared to the who Kaaba. Is Allah not more Important and Overwhelming more than the whole world? Sure He is! |
@Krayola: It is because of "reason" that I am religious, which makes perfect sense to me. I wondered why am I here? Where did I come from? It is obvious that my parents were the fountain human source to that question. But when you begin to layer it up, or peel of the layers, at the end of it all, you find, something similar to what you had when you started your inquiry. Its like the core meat of the onion. Its difference from the outermost layer, was just that; outermost while it is the innermost. The innermost of my inquiry then is a human being, named Adam. It made perfect sense by reasoning. I did not open up the layer and finally I found artichoke, or Lettuce or carbagge, or something other than Onion meat. Even if I had found it, it would have been a grafting by the hands of man or an anomaly that occurred in nature. In general, Onions shall have onion meats at their cores, Nuclei. This alone is an argument to show that there is no randome selection, or a Masterless Universe! You have never seen a full man in the upper or lower half, and then something else completely in its original in the other half. Take your pick. If the creations have been without a Creator there would have been a certain accident that will be phenomenal in its effect on the balance of things that the change can never be ignored. Even a pilotless aircraft has somebody at the control chair in the control room, manauvering it. There is a guide for it. The drone was not just flying about without a master programmer and the system it needs to follow, obey. In Islam we call this Creator Who is in Control, Allah. And He is real. I cant show you. But His evidence surrounds you. You indeed is an evidence of His existence. |
@Nezan: « #47 on: Today at 10:24:05 AM » You people tend to deny some of your hadiths when it is convenient for you and quote some when it is convenient to do so. Why deny your holy writings? Olabowale is more guilty of this.Nezan, do you have something similar to ahadith? Ahadith is the saying of the prophet (AS) ancored on the report authority of the companion(s) (RA) who heard it. Oh sorry, its the Bible that will be equal to it! My bad. lol. So if I use the same level of analytical reasoning, on the Bible as to the ahadith, then I will find that While Jesus did not say that he was God the Creator, it is the same that Muhammad (AS) did not say Aisha (RA) was 6 or 9 years old before he married and consumated the marriage. Just like Jesus said that I and God are one, since he was the representative and the speaker for that God at that time, is the same way that Muhammad's statement about young girl did not mean underage, prepubertic female. Heck, am old enough to be a grandfather, and older than many many grandfathers and grand mothers, yet I just referred to myself as an Ijebu boy. Bill Clinton referred himself as a "Boy from Hope." Is there no wisdom in these for those who seek wisdom? You also claim your koran is without error, but when I posted the numerous errors in the koran, your mods will keep on deleting them. So much for your claimsDo you read english at all? Does it mean that a girl who has not menstruated has not reached Puberty? What if she reached it in the middle of the month, and her menstrual circle is just in the next 5 days, after she reached that pivocal milestone of maturity? The only sign of maturity if you even streamline it to menstruation, id just the confirmation of it, when the period is experienced. It does not mean that she just reached it at that time, in the same sense that when a woman gets pregnant, the sign of pregnancy is what follows. The pregnancy did not just start when she felt the sign(s)! Thats the case of your misread of non menstruating as being underage. When i realized that I had sperm, I whad experience that my voice was already broken, long time. I already saw signs of hair in my private parts. The sperm just confirmed it, but was not the start of my being a man instead of being a boy! |
@Abuzola: I am not shy of what the prophet (AS) did, or what he allowed people, companions (RA). I am grateful to Alah for blessing mewith Muhammad. I dreamt about him, before. The dream, since 2002, remains vivid as if as it is an event in front of me, this minute. I am not an apologist! #48 on: Today at 11:34:52 AM »Allah's book is what is faultless. Anyone, can make mistake. All persons can make mistake, on asingle issue. The Muslim scholars who Allah gave knowledge, not being apologetic, have revisited the ahadith and used the very fact that her father, Abu Bakr (RA) became muslim, very early in the months of the birth of Muhammad's prophethood, yet Aisha was born at least a year or more before that event! This alone, is what prompt me to disagree with the collection of what people say is Ahadith. Truly, ahadith is coming from Muhammad (AS), narrated by Sahabahs, narrated by Tabihins, Tabi tabihin, etc, until it reaches the writer. Thats ahadith. Why is ahadith being called daif, all the way to the ahsan? It is because of the probability of its being a thing that will come from Muhammad (AS), on one hand, and the chain of narration. Was the chain of narration just one or many, and the memory of the individual in the chain. When we read that the prophet (AS) by some ahadith says "raisin heads", referring to black people, we know that he does not speak like that. Afterall, Islam came to elevate mankind. And we see it that when an arab man called Sayidina Bin Rabah, the Muhadhin Rasulullah "bad name" Muhammad (AS) got upset and told the arab that what happened that he had not left Jahaliyya alone? To me that speaks volume. The reality is that people when they get angry they may speak badly to their brother or sister. That has been demostrated by the rancor of the Arab man towards Sayidina Bilal BIn Rahbah. When people want to put some other people dwn, they can call them something very generally known about them. Such was the reference to raisin heads about Black people because of the kinkiness/coarseness of the hair texture. When people have incomplete picture, one may leave out essential information out. To me the birth time of Aisha relative to the beginning is very important, just like people have used the time of the birth of prophet Muhammad (AS) to determine his age! Everyone is aware that he was born in the year of the Abraha and his elephan army invation of Makka! Show me the time of the birth of Aisha, and there is no apology from me. My Islam, Alhamdulillah is first. It is a rock. No one or circumstances InshaAllah can shake it. |
@Abuzola: There was no riwaya; the chain of narration. And we do not have a clear picture of the narrators. Further, Ahadith by definition, are saying of the prophet (as), alone. No statement of others, except to say that we heard the prophet say so and so can be a ahadith. In the several ahadiths, according to $Osisi, none of them says that the prophet (AS) said that one should marry a six year or 7 year or 7 year, etc old person. The age of maturity, with the signs of it, being present is what is important. The signs of puberty includes the body changes, hair in private parts, menstrual period, etc. ($Osisi, this is your territoty so go for it). In the case of Aisha (ra), one needs to be mindful about the fact that she was already born before Islam and her father being a convert to it, in the first year of this noble reigion. They, the Muhammads and the Abu Bakrs were neighbors and their young children were also reference of the age in dispute. Further Aisha was already angaged to another man, long time before the prophet (AS) proposed about her (RA). Finaly, no single book can be faultless like the Quran. Otherwise, there will be two Qurans. Why do we have classifications of ahadith then, except to point to the authenticity or lack of it, in whatever the ahadith is all about. It can not disagrees with The Quran and can not go against the character value of the prophet if it is to be accepted as sound. We do not have two islamic messenger or prophet. Muhammad was the last in both categories. Anyone, therefore can make mistakes. Allah says that the best meaning of an issue is revealed to people of knowledge and good heart. Allah further states that only a few may know a thing, by Him giving them knowledge; a blessing from Him. In the Quran we see that the women who reach puberty, though not menstruating are considered on the issue of iddah. There is no way then that Aisha could have been married and her marriage was consumated by the prophet (AS), except that she reached puberty. It is not the year that matters to me. It is her maturity of reaching puberty, which I am very clear that she reached. I only used her birth circumstances to draw out this fact of her maturity; puberty. |
If I ever saw a former muslim who knew nothing about Islam while professing it as his religion, after Pilgrim.1 (Sorry girl, I miss you so much), it is Sleek29! I wonder where these horrible former muslims from my Yoruba tribe got their islam, way back when they practiced? A blind man can see the superiority of the contents between the Quran and the Bible where they have come story theme. @May kelly: Go sleep on it. Cursing and professing to be the matron of Christianity just don't go hand in hand. Relax woman. Before long, I hope you will put the same energy into Islam, without the curse, as you have put in Christianity. Abuzola seems to be shaking the root of your belief, people of the Books! @Abuzola: Good job. May Allah reward you, abundantly. |
while $Osisi is still struggling to get into little black dress, for whatever the reason, Noetic is ready for the happy hour at the pub with a pitcher of guiness! I your type, people. |
