Johanneiyoha:The GCMS means Global Case Management System. It is a system used by IRCC ( Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) to process immigrations i.e ( study permit, Permanent residency etc) and citizenship ( applications for citizenship and the likes etc) applications. The system contains a detailed record of each applicant’s file, including correspondence to and from IRCC, documents received from the applicant, detailed notes from the officers reviewing the file, and other relevant information. These notes give an overview of the current progress of the review of an applicant's submitted application. The GCMS notes are considered to be the only option for applicants to get the most accurate and exhaustive view of their IRCC file. NaijaCanadian28:Are you sure one can file taxes on an actual financial year?. I thought it is on a proceeding year basis. I tried to file my taxes this year but I was told by the member of the tax clinic that I can't file for now since I did not have a physical presence in Canada last year(2020) and was advised to wait till next year (2022) to file for the current (2021)calender year record. 4 Likes |

Merge both documents ( both letter of explanation and IMM form) then submit via webform. That should settle it as long as you are the one bringing it to their notice and submitting the correct information as a replacement to the initial one submitted before they detect it themselves. elizyous:The questionnaire on the form should relate to the "coop" that is if your programme requires you to have some form of work experience as a prerequisite to complete your studies. Such students would be given separate work permits along with the study permits. I assume you clicked No because your programme does not have a coop. This is different from the 20 hours per week on and off-campus students are entitled to. International students are entitled to work 20 hours per week as long as this is stated on your study permit the CBSA officer would issue to you at the point of entry. Hope this clarifies |

Hello, house, I thought to share with you feedback on a webinar we "( my school)" had online with an official of IRCC today. I specifically asked him if it is true that international students can work more than 20 hours per week due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. He debunked it and said we are only allowed to work 20 hours per week and that we should be careful of taking information that cannot be verified on the IRCC website so as not to spoil our immigration record. He mentioned they gave that leverage to those that were supporting the health sector and that they have stopped it. I thought to share this feedback because I know it would be useful to many. Rootiab:I understand the anxiety and also considering the huge expense of paying for the 3 days stopover. Canada for the first time as of April 9, 2021, exceeded the United States on confirmed COVID cases in comparing the number of COVID cases per million people to that of the United States. Ontario itself is currently observing a lockdown so it is uncertain if the relaxation on the 3 days mandatory stopover will take effect soon. I sincerely hope it does. But based on the current situation, if you intend to travel but trying to wait for the cancellation of the 3 days hotel stop over policy, please go ahead with your travel plans because you never can tell what policy comes up tomorrow if the number of confirmed cases does not come down. LadyBlaq:Don't be scared about the refusals you have seen. Everyone has a unique story that distinguishes you from other applicants so I would say attach supporting documents enough for you to convince yourself that you are good to go. I had a similar problem like yours while trying to merge my documents together to submit my application most especially the CLIENT SECTION which always takes the bulk. I also understand that the more you compress the documents, the more it looks so blurred and you are scared if the Visa Officer would be able to read it. What I did was to separate the University Certificate, University Transcript, IELTS Result and Professional certification and attached it to the Admission Letter on the Certificate of Acceptance section of the online application portal. With that, I am able to free up some space in the client section. I also started each section with a table of content and page number so it is easy for the visa officer to see at a glance the documents in each section and makes their review faster. It is better to upload your transcript end to end the way your school issued it to you without leaving out any page just to answer your question. I wish you success. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Kayyyy:You can reduce your load from other items that are not compulsory you carry or can easily be gotten in Canada then spread the foodstuff between two bags to reduce the weight. The truth is you need your foodstuffs. Another option is going with your load as it is and paying for extra luggage at the airport if your parents agree. You can take your food in small quantities as planned if you have explored other options in reducing the weight of your luggage. 1 Like |

LadyIE:Having a family like that ( husband and kids) and applying alone strengthens your home tie because the VO would know there is a high tendency of you coming back home after your studies as you cannot abandon your family. Although, it can also be seamless if your children are still very tender or in their kindergarten age and so young that they always need to be around their mum. This will now depend on how you are able to convince the VO showing sufficient financial documentary proof that you can take good care of them and won't be any burden to the Government of Canada. This all depends on how you can draft your SOP to look convincing and appealing to the emotions of the visa officer. Although it might be a different ball game if your children are grown-ups, that does not mean one cant still get approval but depends on how you are able to package your application or you may want to leave them behind with your husband so that serves as your home tie and they join you later in Canada. You cannot really base your decision on the past applicants because final verdicts on applications are on a case-by-case basis. I wish you the best as you make your decision. |

Ketima:The elders in the house may have a better approach but this is what I think. You can submit your application but attach the evidence you have i.e( a clear copy of the signed and stamped banker's instruction letter) or/ and other evidence you have that you have initiated the transaction for your tuition fee. Attach this document to the Letter of Acceptance section of your application with your admission letter then state clearly in your statement of purpose that you have initiated the payment of your tuition fees on ............( quote the amount paid, date and bank) but that this has not been charged to your account as at the date of submission of your application so you have attached a copy of the banker's instruction in the letter of acceptance section of your application or any other evidence you have which you have attached. Once the transaction with the bank is finalized, please be ready to send to IRCC via webform your tuition fee receipt, a copy of mybank statement certificate ( 1 year preferably) and back it up with an official letter that you are forwarding this in addition to your submitted application as evidence of payment of your tuition fee and you can reference in the letter the date your account was debited. IRCC would always do their confirmation with your school and the bank so it's fine. I think that should settle it and hopefully Zenith stick to their 3 weeks timeline. All the best. |

Olaidetola:It is possible you might not receive the confirmatory message sent to you by the clinic that your result has been sent perhaps due to a system glitch. This is what you can do - contact the clinic where you did your medical exam. Send them an e-mail then follow up with a phone call that you are yet to receive a message from them on the medical exam. Once they confirm to you that your result has been sent to the embassy, you can then send the e-medical sheet given to you at the clinic to IRCC via a webform and notifying them (IRCC) that your result has been sent by your panel of Physician on ........... Blavkmaann:Bro, when you get to the airport ask for "Currency Exchange" which is the stand that changes currencies at the airport but only change the very little you need because it is more expensive at the airport. You can hold the bulk of US dollars with you and change at the bank when you want to open your account. It is much cheaper at the banks. From my little experience being here, things are a little pricey here esp with the conversion of Naira to dollars so if you still have the opportunity, buy your laptop in Lagos. The proof of funds should be your current balance, you can just get one month statement from the bank and that's if you are asked by the officer. MzMisty:I am so sorry about this. I remember how you were anxiously waiting for a decision and I kept encouraging you. in fact, I am really speechless but please don't give up. Having read your GCMS notes, I cannot seem to see any negative feedback leading to the refusal. In fact, the Visa officer that did the initial review of your file has assessed you positively on all criteria even your study plan was okay by him/her. Are there any additional comments of the VO on the GCMS notes that are not visible here or this is all? The reasons you kept above are just generic responses they always quote on correspondence refusal letters so we need the comments on the notes that lead to the refusal. Overall, please don't give up, this is a positive sign you are very very close. |

Mideyo234:Yes, correct, you can share a room as long as you arrived together. I saw people in pairs being given a room in the hotel I lodged and you are free to leave when your negative test result drops in your mailbox. Mine dropped the second day. But better to discuss with the hotel that you intend to quarantine with another person before paying so you can be on the same page with them. 2 Likes |

LANDING GIST Hello house, congrats to those who have gotten approvals on their applications and best of luck to those awaiting a decision. It will end in praise. Let me summarise my landing experience and not bore you with stories since I still have some energy after arrival. SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT I flew with Ethiopian Airline and the flight was at 1:40 pm. I got to the airport a little late due to a last-minute rush/parking. Fast forward to entry. The first point was two immigration officers. They asked about my final destination, I told them Canada. They sighted my passport and handed it back to me. The next checkpoint was to weigh my luggage. Hmm! the first luggage (box) weighed 26kg and the second box carrying food weighed 33kg. I was forced to return some stuff back home and paid 60 dollars for the excess luggage and obtained a receipt because I was not ready to return any food so I rather reduced some clothing. Please try to use a travelling bag for your foodstuff to avoid overweighing so you won't be forced to buy ghana must go at the airport. The next check after was a lady who asked for my COVID test result, school enrollment letter and my passport. She snapped the enrollment letter and passport then sent it to someone by WhatsApp for confirmation. She asked for the Arrive CAN receipt. I showed her on my phone. The next point was where I got my boarding pass. After this, i started walking fast to the point of boarding because my aircraft was already boarding. I would advise you to try to get to the airport much earlier due to these new changes at the airport so you don't start rushing. SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT ADDIS ABABA AIRPORT The Ethiopian Airline flight took off on time around 1:55 pm. The flight was okay, a very massive Boeing aircraft and was not fully loaded to capacity. I guess due to COVID and not much demand due to travel restrictions. Our first stopover was at Addis Ababa. We had to pass our hand luggage, remove our shoes and belts, laptops through computer screening at three different areas in the airport. Such tight security. One of them saw dollars in my pocket, I told him I was a student, he had to check my passport and boarding pass to confirm. It is that strict. There is nothing wrong with holding your cash. Just let them know you are a student if peradventure they ask you. The next check at Addis Ababa was an Immigration Officer. She asked for my Negative COVID test result, evidence of Arrive Can and confirmation of booking of the 3 days stopover hotel in Canada. She took a copy of the COVID result and gave me a health form to fill ( like a questionnaire) I filled and returned back to her. Try to make at least 3 copies of all your documents before travelling just in case an officer ask you at any of the airports. It all depends on the officer but better to be prepared. SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT TORONTO AIRPORT We were given 3 forms to fill in the plane, one of which is the declaration card ( the declaration card is where you will declare if you are holding 10,000 dollars or more, and foodstuffs like (meat fish, nuts, egg, vegetables, fruits etc). We all had to fill it in the plane, even the pilot kept announcing for us to fill it. We finally landed in Toronto after almost 20 hours in the air. Even when the plane got to Toronto airspace. It still spent almost 2 hours in the air before landing. CANADA is really big. I am not surprised it is the second-largest country in the world after Russia. The airport looked a little skeletal. Some offices were not opened, I guess due to COVID. The first check at Toronto was different counters with immigration officers. We had to queue and was assigned to each one at random. The officer asked for my negative COVID test result, Arrive Can, evidence of booking my 3 days stopover hotel and evidence of booking of the 14 days isolation and the declaration card so I gave him all. I showed him the confirmation of 3 days hotel booking on my phone. I did not bother to print that out since you can only book 48 hours to your arrival in Canada and would be too late print. He did not even bother to review the card. He just signed and gave it back to me. The next check was another set of different cubicles with various immigration officers ( The main point of entry). I noticed one cubicle was free and a Chinese-looking lady officer was there so I just went to meet her. She did not even press me as expected. She just asked for (1) Letter of Acceptance (2) Evidence of Arrive CAN (3) Evidence of booking of 3 days hotel stopover (4) Passport and then she asked two questions: Why are you coming to Canada, I answered I came to study for my MBA then the second question was how are you funding your studies and I said my biological parents are sponsoring me. She felt satisfied and printed my study permit. It all depends on the officer that would be interviewing you. The next step was getting my luggage and I proceeded to another queue to register for the COVID test and was subsequently directed to a tent where a nurse took samples from my nostril and told me the result would be sent to my registered e-mail. After that, I got to another queue where I waited for the taxi going to my 3 days stop over hotel. I wish everyone the very best as you plan your journey to Canada. 38 Likes 2 Shares |
