Thanks for the detailed info. Do you know if she’d need to re-do the TB test since it was done more than six months ago?

Ray7878:
Okay so, not going to bore you with how it started but a few things to add to everything.

We got married in September in Abeokuta 2021. And I came back to the UK early October.

(1) She did change of name and applied for her passport (Got that at Festac?) sorry not good with names/places in Nigeria.

(2) TB appt was booked for 26th of October after going directly there, and paid one of the staff to book her because we just couldn’t get anything online.

(3) Passport came out on the 25th of October after she begged and begged the staffs.

(4) When he booked the TB we needed her passport number but because she didn’t have one I called my mother and put HER passport number in the bookings, because without a passport they wouldn’t allow you to book it. And thanks to GOD they didn’t notice this. So when she received her passport she just stay over in Lagos and took it to the TB place the next day.

(5) Booked for her English test for 3rd of December (Result came out on the 17th online as passed) - Awaiting certificate.

(6) Application processed by myself over here in the UK
- Documents
A. My UK passport, UK drivers licence, my NHS work contract, my previous job contract (Both showing how much I earn per annum), my house deed, my mortgage statement, my divorce papers, my payslips, my Halifax statement of account (I highlight every single money that was paid by my employers in yellow, which matches each dated payslips) all these covering a 2 years period (Because I moved jobs in September and was paid more than my period job).

B. She provided her passport, TB certificate, and English language test result, Wedding certificate, pictures of when we met in early 2019 and wedding pictures, WhatsApp chat taken from archives from early 2019 up until the application date.

(7) Booked Biometrics for the 11th of Jan 2021

(cool Biometrics missed because we didn’t have the certificate. TLS refused to complete this without the actual certificate, DLH left her certificate on their desk in Abeokuta from the 17th of December until she made a complaint in Lagos when she went there on the day that TLS refused the biometrics.

(9) DLH delivered the next day after 1000 apologies to her for missing her bio.

(10) Bio rebooked for the 28th of Jan AFTER paying some guy that was standing around outside TLS as the TLS staff were unhelpful.

(11) Biometrics done of the 28th of Jan.
(12) Transferred to DMC on the same day and received - 3 greens on the tracker.
(13) Paid email sent in end of Feb by me, was told decision would be early Mid March by a staff named Tanya.
(14) 15th of March second paid email - Told by a staff called Simon that no decision yet. But since ours was settlement it is usually 12 weeks (Which means end of April)
(15) Wife received an email 11th of May to say “60WD is now 120WD” due to the Ukrainian crisis.
(16) Next day I filed a complaint via gov.Uk (The link I found it on this forum).
(17) Tracking everyday but nothing - 3 green lines.
(18) 26th of May - Email received from TLS for collection.
(19) Wife picked up her “Partner visa” to expired Feb 2025.
(20) Received an email from the complaint side saying they have contacted my wife.

I think this was the timeline that I can remember right now. Prior to this I or my wife knew NOTHING about immigration/visas or how to do an application. I found this forum AFTER we put in our application. But this forum has been very helpful and it has been an eye opener.

I highlighted everything that I uploaded on the TLS document website, and they kept her passport. Hopefully she would be here in the next 2 months when she has sort out everything in Ijebu ode where she currently resides.

I don’t see a problem with this. 14 days on your own in a new city is long. Chill with your aunt....her picking you up makes things easier - no dragging suitcases on the train and what not. After the two weeks you can find your way to Wolverhampton.

You can quarantine at a friend’s so I don’t see why you need to have mentioned them in your visa application.

phadexzhi01:

Thank you very much.
By family, I mean my Aunt (who by the way doesn't bear my surname), so I didn't mention her in my application.

Your best bet is to fly into Edinburgh or Glasgow and then get a local coach or taxi.m (it’s about 90 minutes sha so taxi would be expensive). As you’d be flying with at least 3 suitcases, doing the journey from Heathrow into central London to get the train to Scotland would be quite difficult without help.

The coach is long but is easier than trying to get to central London.

Kids under the age of 2 pay a nominal fee, typically about 10% of the adult fare.

Age 2-11, the fare is about 90% of the adult fare.

No problem with the Istanbul stopover (Turkey is on the UK’s OK list sef).

Turkish Airlines don’t require you to have a Covid test result. My cousin flew them, is quarantining at mine and didn’t need to do one. But as things change all the time, it’s best you check to confirm.

And yes, you can quarantine anywhere in the UK. Some people have found it difficult to find accommodation for the two weeks so end up staying with friends/family.

Ahem....the question the application form asks is whether or not the applicant has family in the UK - it goes on to explain what they mean by family and in-laws don’t appear anywhere in said explanation. Neither do cousins.

As with everything, it just depends on date and time. I can see tickets for £86 on Skyscanner for Oct 1st (random date I looked at). Local flights would only include one suitcase but if you buy both tickets (Lagos to London and then London to Newcastle) together, it’ll be the 2 suitcases you’re allowed from Lagos).

Pricing is the same on BA’s site and I’m quoting the first flight out 9.50am since you’ll arrive before 6am from Lagos. The flights later in the day are slightly cheaper but the difference isn’t significant enough for you to hang around the airport.

gracedforever:

Okay. Please are you saying a flight from London to Newcastle is just about 56k, that's 93 pounds or so. That seems quite cheap cos I heard train from London to Newcastle could be up to 100 pounds.

Unfortunately, this is not 100% correct. If it was true, agents wouldn’t exist.

Airlines typically offer agents bulk seats at discounted prices not available on their websites because they have the reach and can often attract the numbers required. These discounted tickets would normally have some sort of restrictions and it is a way for them to push sales especially when they’re struggling to put bums on seats.

As an individual, you can’t buy more than say <365 tickets a year assuming you travel every day of the year. Which is pretty much impossible. An agent can sell that in a matter of hours/days hence the exclusive deals they get. It’s pretty standard and makes business sense.

justwise:

That maybe true but those discounted tickets are also available on airline websites if you know what you are doing. Generally nothing you get from agent that will be cheaper than the original source worldwide

BA only fly to London from Nigeria. So to buy a ticket to any other airport in the UK, it would be Lagos/Abuja - London - Third City e.g. Newcastle in this case. So the 266k fare is the 215k promo fare + the cost of a ticket from London to Newcastle.

gracedforever:

To avoid stories that touch, insist that the agent sends you a pdf copy of the application before he submits it so you can see what’s there. It’s YOUR application and you should take full responsibility for it.

Someone just said how an agent ‘lied’ about a previous refusal and he/she was banned because of that.

As @Dami24 insinuated, tread carefully o.

utaraji2:
Please house I have an urgent questions.

I have managed to get my agent/sponsor into agreeing to convert my application from standard to priority.

My agent just called (through my sponsor) that if he proceeds that the original interview date will change and I may be giving a date in December.

I would like to think that this is not the case.

I had to send him the step that @mamacajah posted yesterday since he wont give me access to the application platform.

Please for those that have done it, is it through that the original interview date might change to a date in the future?

Please it is kind of urgent, my sponsor is waiting for me to confirm if I want to go through with it or not? I just want to be double sure.

Sorry if my question sound like no brainer but given my current circumstance I can't help but to ask and be double sure.

Infact once I get a feedback I will forward it to him.

Thanks for swift response.

International licence, not Naija licence.

And the insurance premium would be significantly more expensive. Best to apply for a provisional licence once you collect your BRP, do a few lessons, the theory test and then the practical test. Since you can already drive, 5-10 lessons should be adequate. The lessons aren’t essential but would be helpful.

You can download the theory test app and start studying for that now if you have some free time.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was just checking that you weren’t applying for one of the more ‘popular’ courses on here.

What Unis offer the course? Someone here might have experience on their CAS process or whether they typically frown on applicants with precious refusals.

There’s no blanket rule that covers this so you’d have to just shoot your shot (and be honest about it) and see what happens. It is likely you’d be asked if you have been denied a visa before at some stage and then asked for the reason for refusal. So for Canada, you would need to answer yes and then explain. You have to seriously think about how you word both (US and Canada) explanations. Blaming it on an agent wouldn’t help much so might be better to go along the line of ‘human error’.

Have you been to the UK before? Have you done a postgraduate course/degree before? Was the Canadian visa application for a visit or study visa? This would determine if it is ‘clear’ that you just want to ja pa or not. I think it would be more difficult if you have done some sort of postgraduate course before.

Also, make sure there’s logical progression in terms of your choice of course. It would be significantly harder if you, for example, studied a non-relevant course at undergrad level and have no work experience in the field you are applying for. That PLUS the previous refusals and ban portrays something else.

I don’t think anyone can tell you Unis that would sponsor you unless they’ve been in this specific situation before (or know someone who has) but I would suggest you apply to a number of Unis and not just a couple. It just means you can’t be too picky about Unis.

All the best.

Agitude17:
Long post alert Pls gurus in the house , have been a silent reader and I have really learnt a lot
. Pls for some with 2US visit visa refusal(family) The first refusal was based on my husband who was the primary applicant made a mistake on his form so he was not allowed in I had to go in with our son alone for the interview, I didn’t have all the answers to the questions asked so I was denied but we reapplied 2months later and we were given. The second refusal is that I had my second baby in the US went to renew and they denied US based on discounted bill (in which we paid all our hospital bills in full) but the VO said the money paid is less than the cost of hospital bill in in new jersey we paid $8000 in total but the VO said we should have paid $15000 and this was in 2016.
A ban from Canada resulting from not informing the Canadian government about the refusal ( we used an agent honest truth we didn’t know he filled NO instead of Yes cos we actually told him we have bin denied but I think he mistake us for another client (though na the matter we still Dey settle )we trusted him enough to deliver because he did for our friend and it was successful no reason to doubt him though we take full responsibility we should have verified b4 submitting big mistake. So now my Question is will any school be willing to sponsor me already with a ban. want to apply for a MSc program in the Uk going alone without my family . Pls which University will be willing to sponsor Me pls I need answers urgently pls @mimilyrics @justwise and other gurus in the house pls help

Your best bet is to try other Unis. I have seen a couple of suggestions on here but please note that from what you have written, it is not just because of your previous refusals. The issue of progression also seems to be a key factor so you need to address that.

It appears your personal statement doesn’t sufficiently address why you’re doing another masters as the Uni clearly told you this and it brings up clear red flags (why would someone want to pay crazy international fees twice?) Add that to the previous visa refusals from different countries and you’ll see things from their perspective.

The onus is on you to make your personal statement as solid as possible so any questions or doubts they have are addressed. To me, this is where you have fallen short.

Try running your personal statement by a couple of people just to be sure you have covered all bases. I wouldn’t suggest you withhold the information about your previous refusals but that’s your call to make.

SegunWamiri:
PLEASE... HELP. DENIAL OF CAS
@justwise, @mimilyrics, @ANYONE

Good evening All, I have been on silent mode for quite a while now. That is because I have been engaged in some kind of tussle with my school - Liverpool Hope University but I think it's hightime I presented my case here.

The school has refused to issue my CAS after discovering that I have 3 previous visa refusals (US Visit, Canada study and Australia visit) after my first UK master's degree. This information was requested ONLY after I have fulfilled all the conditions - Tuition deposit, DBS disclosure/Nigerian Police Character Certificate, completing an Online health questionnaire, copy of valid passport that came with my offer on April 15th, 2020 and then it's time to issue CAS and they are messing up.

My angle of argument is that if they knew that past visa refusals is a concern for them, they should have asked me about it early enough in the admission process. As a matter of fact, they shouldn't have made me an offer in the first place. Why is it just coming up? Meanwhile, I didn't take my interview with Derby serious because I felt that I already have a SURE admission with Liverpool Hope.

Here is a quote from their email to me:

"It was noted that you completed an RQF Level 7 MSc in Management at the University of Hertfordshire in 2013 and that the MA Social Work course that you have applied for is also an RQF Level 7 qualification. When assigning a CAS to an applicant for a course at the same academic level as a previously completed UK qualification, we need to justify the reasoning for this. Having reviewed your personal statement the Panel felt that this was not adequately explained in your application. Furthermore, as you already have 3 visa refusals from other countries, any future visa application is likely to be scrutinized more closely, and it is felt that your credibility as a genuine student may be questioned."

Apart from looking for another school and possibly prepare for January/February 2021, what else can I do? Although I have been in touch with the Pro VC whom signed my admission letter in the first place, presenting all evidences and documents that the school had led me on this far, she is yet to give a positive response.

NB: The £5,700 tuition/YR for international applicants was my source of attraction/motivation. Therefore, I honestly don't know where I can start gathering more than that from at this period. sad

Yeah, Qatar allow one piece at 30kg compared to the European airlines which typically do two pieces of 23kg.

You could buy the student BA ticket to London mentioned earlier and then buy yourself another BA ticket to Manchester which I can see for £85. Flights leave from the same terminal so you shouldn’t have any problems connecting.

Or check BA direct yourself for a Lagos to Manchester ticket. I suspect that Qatar would be cheaper than this option sha.

You wouldn’t find anything for £5k.

Is there a reason why you’re restricting yourself to Manchester? Free accommodation? If so, you can also try Bolton and the Unis in Liverpool (Liverpool John Moore and Liverpool Hope). Neither of them would be as low as £5k sha and you’d have to pay for the commute.

Fees are typically around £10-11k (if you graduated with a 2.1 and can get some discounts) but more like £12-14k.

The Uni of Liverpool and Manchester types are all over £20k.

You don’t need to have paid for accommodation. Just know details about where you plan to live (on or off campus, cost, location, commuting distance etc).

Good evening to the gurus in the house.

I have my visa interview on Wednesday but the house address used during my application is no longer available.

I have seen another however and am willing to pay tomorrow to secure it.

I feel I would be asked about where I plan to stay during my study program.

So, do I stick with the one in my visa application or finalize the new one?

Hope using changed address would not be to my disadvantage as well?

Thanks.
