Hello guys, as promised, the post about why you shouldn't be pushing tablets is up. http://nefescorner.com/tablets-television-and-nigerian-toddler/ Lululuv, the time to start reading to kids is now. my 2 and a half year old could identify her nursery rhymes based on pages from her books. She knew what she was reading because she identified the pictures to the songs we sang. |
Hello everyone! Light weekend reading http://nefescorner.com/a-bajillion-things-to-do-aka/ Waladade4luv, please make sure she uses her first gynae, if she can. If there were any issues in the first pregnancy, he/she would know your wife enough as a patient, to know what to expect. |
Hello everyone! Ah, our mummies that like tablets for your children, I have some bad news for you o! It's coming up on the blog (I was shocked when I was told but it makes sense and we have reduced our tech time). But here's a new post now: http://nefescorner.com/repaint-your-wall-yellow-scribbling-for/ MamaDG happy birthday to your cutie ![]() |
Please, my friends and I were having a crazy argument: should you give your son a doll to play with? It started from a post one saw on Twitter and moved to our Whatsapp. I went digging and to be honest, I can see the benefit of it. Though I don't know if I'm as brave as one of them was (she got him a doll). But don't just scream "no" and walk away, read and decide for yourselves: http://nefescorner.com/should-your-son-play-with-do/ |
Laeroy:It is most likely an allergy and the trigger is in his surrounding. If you have tried it all (and you've stopped), it's most likely an allergy. I know there are 2 Paediatric Dermatologists at GH Lagos Island. And I know some Dermatologists in Festac, Lekki and Surulere (If you're in Lagos). You can go for a visit. I'm saying this because almost every child I've seen recently has cough/cartarrh/rashes and it's an allergy outbreak (in the abroad, Spring is the time for allergies from dust, pollen and more, to pop up). Basically a change of seasons (from Dry to Rainy Season too). |
suzy:Happy Birthday suzy and all April birthdays. Have a great one (for a funny reason, almost all the firstborns in my family are April babies )Please, my friends and I were having a crazy argument: should you give your son a doll to play with? Hello everyone. Congrats to our new mothers and bumping mums, may we all push through. I know soon, some of us will start looking for creche and pre-school. So I got someone knowledgeable (she's a 3rd generation teacher ) to give pointers for what to look for, in a school. Please take a look:http://nefescorner.com/picking-right-pre-school-and-nursery/ She added that creche choices should be similar and not have a tv to just dump your child in front of. Please feel free to share, it's just to be helpful. Thanks a lot |
Hello everyone. I got someone knowledgeable to give pointers for what to look for, in a school. Please take a look: http://nefescorner.com/picking-right-pre-school-and-nursery/ Based on her suggestions, I think we did okay and out school scores an 8/10. So we are on the right track. Please feel free to share, it's just to be helpful. |

So this is not an advert. Being nice to share for parents. A friend sent it to me and I'm passing it on. If your child is in Secondary school, something to do.

Hello everyone! Longest time! Hope everyone is good o. Sorry to butt in, but there's a clearance sale going on https://www.nairaland.com/3511128/how-cloth-diaper/5#66187545 Queensnow, if you have explained, give the baby to his dad. Why tell, when you can show. Let him feed his son and see if it's easy. That's the only solution I can see. |

See 1. So apparently there is no CCTV in every single office, in every single classroom in the school. 2. The problem of hiring just anybody to be a teacher: they don't give a fvck about their students. How will teachers of 2 girls, (2 toddlers!) see a Supervisor come to take students out of class and return them and not ask questions? Constantly?! The first time he comes to get them, okay...but the subsequent times Why not ask "sir where are they going to? Is her parent around?". It's because they are desperate for a job so they don't say anything and try not to look too closely at anything not concerning their duties. Teach and collect your salary. Teaching should be a discipline, a passion, not a job.3. The other child's mother doesn't want to prosecute because she doesn't want "stigma". Ffs!! 4. Chrisland has said nothing. No statement, no training for their staff upon this matter, nothing. Just keeping their heads down and hoping parents don't withdraw kids and mess up their bottom line. Because Education is a business in Nigeria. Mschewwwww! |
Tex42:True. When I said "free", perhaps I should have specified: I'll invite a few select group of mums and dads (maybe one or two people from here in addition), not just open to anyone. I'm sure we'll see more of these things now, but how many will be run well? And it can't be affordable. |
This is for anyone interested in growing their own food and vegetables, Please check out this Instagram page, so you can see how she's doing it. She is in Nigeria, around Minna or Abuja I believe.

ifyalways:My sister, Happy New Year to you to. Nope, but that place sounds banging. The kind of thing I've been wanting for a while. I heard of one in Lekki Phase 1, I'll look for the flyer (I think I know the owner sef). But do you know, been wanting to do something like this for fun o. A proper playgroup so what you need is someone who knows Early Years Foundational stuff. Why not target for Summer. Honestly won't mind starting a playgroup but let it be free (abeg how much money does everyone have in Nigeria and I'm a Socialist at heart) and it would be nice to mingle with other mums. If I drive to that tollgate, I'm parking and not paying any increase. Any day you see one video of a mad woman fighting the agberos and toll officials, just know I snapped. |
Thanks for inviting me Babythug , how's your garden doing? |
ifyalways:That's a good question. Methinks it has something to do with Permanent Residency of another country? OP, delighted for you. Good women and men exist in every culture and race and ethnic group. Never had a Filipina friend though, only knew some half-Filipinas. |
ImaIma1:Are you sure they didn't give them "The Husband Stitch"? It's a very painful practise during epistotomies. Thewizardof0zil, please do not opt for a CS for this reason. We live in Buhari Nigeria, Where 1. There is constant off-on fuel scarcity. Imagine them starting your CS and gen packs up. Then they need to rush you to another hospital but "oh there are fuel queues". 2. There are no doctors anymore. I'm serious, I went for immunization and the doctors had their passports in their hands, filing for citizenship of Australia and Canada. Heck, I helped them small. Do you really wanna take this chance that if you need more medical help, there is no-one around at that moment because he/she is stretched thin on services? 3. There is no blood in blood bank. Do you know how many frantic tweets I see of "Mrs F needs O-, O+, etc" ? 4. Everyone don vex ![]() Please go and push. Trust me, sexx isn't bad after delivery, get some lube and teach your man to be gentle. Don't rush it and explore other positions and for Pete's sake, pre-intimacy! Nigeria is very hard, but please don't let anyone pound their aggression away on your vajajay biko. Get your PVC! |
Gardenia I really did not know these grew in Nigeria but they do! And they smell sooo nice. I have seen some mostly in gardens on the island. Gardenia are lovely, gentle plants. Very delicate white fragrant flowers. Their flowers do well in bouquets o. Infact I prefer them to roses. Now, Gardenias need sunlight but not direct sunlight so feel free to plant them under a palm, babythug. They also like water (dip your finger in the soil, it should feel moist most times) and acidic soils. Yes, you can grow them indoors, put it in a pot beside a window. Did I already mention they smell nice and lool good in flower bouquets?

stonecoldcafe:I wanna say it's an Allemanda... |
Babythug, that is awesome. I feel really bad for leaving this thread but time is so hard for me right now. But I will do 2 posts here. Maybe we should start a group for this? Babythug will be in charge. |
rvpbae:Hello. Thanks, enque for cc Please check out www.nefescorner..com for all your information you will need. Hello ladies. Happy New Year, hope you're all doing great. |
Enque, happy birthday to your Zara. Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well. Zaynie, good to know your daughter is okay. Seasons Greetings, everyone ![]() |
enque:We're good. How's your side? Baby nko? ![]() |
Gloriouspa:Hello, it's actually in Lekki if you want it. I don't have her contact but there is one in Lekki and another in Ikoyi. But theirs is a darker coloured leaf (dark purple), maybe the soil/climate conditions? I'll ask this week. Sorry it took a while to reply. |
MamaDG:Mupiderm is 2% mupirocin (antibacterial agent). So ask your pharmacist for one with 2% mupirocin, rather than Mupiderm. There should be a cheaper one (N1800-ish). It's from India and I feel it gives off small heat on touch application but it does the same. Tatacherie and enque, thanks for checking in on me. I took a break from NL (it was such a necessary break, I had been wanting to deactivate since last year when an acquaintance deactivated her account quietly). Sorry I haven't checked my mails in a while (for this account). |
modath:Hallos dear. How are your kids and how is life treating you? |
For our Mums who cloth diaper, here's a quick video showing how to do a cotton prefold. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZYanWeFIg-/ |
