lululuv:Antibiotics will clear it up. (As long as there are no other symptoms like recurring fever etc). My problem is, I can't remember the name of our which we were given. Ask your paed if he knows a dermatologist he can send you to. Because I don't recall if broad-spectrum antibiotics will clear it up and no doctor will give me that answer (they'll ask that you go to the hospital instead). Drop where you're based, maybe someone may know a derm around you. |
Ogemele and mizfola, please read this when you are looking for a creche here: http://nefescorner.com/2018/04/picking-right-pre-school-and-nursery.html http://nefescorner.com Because someone's definition of "good" would surprise you. And I showed that to my mum's friend's daughter (sheesh, see long trip!) And she immediately pulled her daughter out of her creche (she said based on the post, she noticed the creche had only 2 attendants so they were getting overwhelmed and weren't warming food well or washing bottles properly, meaning that her daughter kept falling sick. And no school nurse either). |
Lululuv, kimoyo, I have seen that pus-filled eruptions on babies and we just got ours cleared up too (5 days medication). It looks like acne not a boil, right? It has a medical term (carbuncle or furuncle). Is your baby covered in rashes that won't go away? You shouldn't be using a cream on it. I will advise you to take your child to a Dermatologist. That is who helped with ours because the Paediatricians tend to prescribe an anti-bacterial ointment (won't work as it's not topical and you need to treat from the inside). Dermatologists are at: General Hospital, Lagos Island (most major GHs have a Skin Clinic) Healing Stripes, Oniru Emel Hospital, Festac Lekki phase 1 (I know 2 there but can't remember the name of the clinic. There used to be one at Childcare Hospital but I think he's left, but go and ask their paed, he should have a contact for him) You can keep going to a paed but they're not gonna treat it right. You need a Derm. Not a pharmacist (someone ignored me and went to a pharm who proceeded to really fvck up her child's own). Hth. |
ifyalways:Sister Ify, Ayam financially strapped. Plis hep mah account with small chikin change Hunniesuzie, because of you, we are now going to make a post for entertaining babies 0-6 months. Giving us extra work (2 lashes of cane for you!). |
ifyalways:On their website, there is a banner that shows the Children's Financial Fair picture. Click on it, because it doesn't have a direct link. The Registration portal will open up in a new window. Modified the post to reflect this. Thanks thanks. How's everyone, any summer plans? |
Congratulations to all our new mums. Gotta post this here: http://nefescorner.com/its-time-for-bestman-games-childrens-finance-fair-2018/ You can't hope to hammer and that money will be enough. You have to plan and the most successful people plan their children's lives (show God your working plan and let Him sign off on it), rather than leave things to chance. And with Nigeria's growth forecast and economy, it is crucial to have enough info. So share the link, see if you can make it. Attendance, I believe, is free. Thanks. |

rvpbae:Stop the powder for now though. Keeping the place moisturised and lubricated is more protective than over drying it as well. hth |
GlitteringStar:Thanks o! Meanwhile, the momma that showed us her kid's playfood, sent more pictures. Her child goes to a Waldorf school (no plastic allowed, they drape their schoollights and do a lot of nature walks) and if you see examples of playfood eh! Even me, I want to play. We found these ones. We will hopefully do a tutorial on them (if I can get everyone to stop running to Canada!!)
|
rvpbae:Powder is supposed to absorb excess moisture. It sounds like you're drying his skin out. Try a regular moisturising diaper cream. Pat him dry down there during changes. |
comtem2011:It works and my aim is good. Extra painful if you use very cold water. ![]() |
The final piece of this series on education because (sniff sniff) I can't afford to keep paying the writers in bottled groundnut. Please thank them in your comments, they really tried. We do what is known as Structured Play and it usually gives better results than regular teaching. We also use it to expand our curriculum, you would ve shocked at what your toddler is able to absorb. So we put together some examples of ones we do: http://nefescorner.com/take-her-to-moon-for-me-aka-creative/ |
Jennykoko3009:I want to suggest a very drastic method. I grew up with a thumb sucker and I saw them try every method (including tying him up in a chair). Didn't work. What I do (because my kid likes to stick her fingers up her nose) is that I got a watergun (which actually looks like a gun) and I shoot her with it every time I catch her. I also shoot her and her brother when they scream at night, scatter their toys or just look at me funny. it's extreme but it works. |
Enque, it's great your child isn't into tablets so young. I'll let you in on a secret: my friend works for a company in California that has very big clients (F*bk and a lot of celebrities). I can't mention specifics (she signed a NDA with her boss, she has zero selfies with anyone but one of her events was a big action movie in February, lots of black stars ) and she says that a lot of them keep their kids away from tablets and tvs. Very montessori and waldorf-inspired. one of the parents has one insane school that is not open to the public, has no website and doesn't run regular curriculum. Try and read these links: http://nefescorner.com/tablets-television-and-nigerian-toddler/ http://nefescorner.com/the-goshdarnit-awesome-toy-list-for/ http://nefescorner.com/take-her-to-moon-for-me-aka-creative/ |
Hello guys. Babythug, I know it's late. I'm so sorry about your loss. It's never an easy thing to lose a parent. Please take as much time as you need to heal and bond with your family. Sometimes, the pain may hit you later when you least expect it. And keep her alive in your children's memories, I love this movie "Coco" because it reinforces the idea that these are our family and we honour them by keeping their memories alive with us. So she's not gone forever. I hope you feel better. |
Hello, madam finally posted this! In case you're wondering what to get for your toddler, to educate them. It is incredible and I have personally seen the benefits of so many items on the list. But don't take my word for it, please read: http://nefescorner.com/the-goshdarnit-awesome-toy-list-for/ |

GlamMrsO:Vagina farts are called Queefing and are hilarious! Mine went on its own though I helped out by Kegels exercise (clenching your vagina) or sitting on a hard stool apparently. Sometimes the fan would hit my ladybits and it would happen . Don't forget to use it to emotionally blackmail your child in 20 years: "when I was farting through my vajajay because of you, now you don't want to be a Footballer/Doctor/Wizkid! A |
ifyalways:I know Delightful and The Little Big Kid Co sell a lot of toys (for one idiotic reason, the person supplying Ebeano supermarket toys priced them way over, some are N3000 more expensive). Delightful tends to update their website rather quick so take a pic of the Melissa and doug you want, it may be at their other branch and they will bring it for you. My in-law got the Pound-A-Peg that way. Just wait and see the next 2 posts coming on the blog! ![]()

StrongWoman333:Our hospital provided the earrings. They can use a piercing gun or via hand. It should be gold-plated or gold. I waited till 6 months (didn't have the liver to watch it happen earlier). The earrings used to cost N250 to N500 2 years ago. |

Hey mums, abeg if your pikin is already getting up to no good at 6 months and you are tired of them grabbing your keys, your hair, your glasses, your phones, biko take a look. Once we did this list, my babies left my wig in peace (I finally managed to get human hair, one smallie wants to snatch the strands out, mba!) http://nefescorner.com/are-there-no-toys-for-6-12-month-old/ For younger babies (0-5 months), I'm actually going to drop a sweet DIY how you can sew their own toy (15 minutes, tops). If you can thread a needle, you can make it. And I'll give you a hint: don't throw away your cereal or wipes packet just yet HTH |
Roseey0:Shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil. There is no 100% barrier cream, you just need to keep the place moisturised. And once in a while, let some fresh air in. HTH. |
Afollyshade:Happy birthday to her! She's birthday-mates with my personal persons, infact all the May 1st people I know are very chill. And that's a bangin' photoshoot ![]() |
