Nic3:You are asking about one of the world's greatest mysteries. When you get an answer, please let us all.... Or maybe, just maybe, move on and accept that which you cannot change... |
The saddest thing in Nigeria is, this helmet is too expensive to most sufferers as treatment and Plagiocephaly isn't diagnosed on time. |
Prettyhurts:Are you on your own, you shouldn't be. Is there someone that can come sit with you, give you a break perhaps? Don't try and be too strong and do it by yourself. Get some washcloths to use on her bum, disposable wipes would irritate it further. Poor thing. Would you mind posting your location, maybe someone here can contact you and keep your spirits up. |
Well, don't let me stop you if both your minds are made up about Divorce. I did see an interesting statistic recently: a huge number of people regret getting their divorces, and upto 60% of men regret their divorce more than women. Which is fascinating but understandable, because most people are too caught up in how bad things feel. And things can feel bad for a very long time. Here's a blog you may like: https://mustbethistalltoride.com/an-open-letter-to-shitty-husbands/ He's divorced and he said, he never thought it would happen to him because he didn't do anything wrong, yet was a shitty husband. He also says his wife didn't do anything wrong yet was a shitty wife. And they both regret their divorce. His quote is "Good men and women can make Shitty husbands and wives". |
Prettyhurts:Pele. It's most likely stomach and I really hope it isn't Cholera. There is a Cholera outbreak in Lagos right now, because apparently Ambode is messing with LAWMA. Keep us updated about baby's status, kk? |

How are you! ![]() |
Elixir123:Hmm, I'm going to be vague and say sometime in your second trimester ( the end of the 2nd trimester) but more likely in the beginning of your 3rd trimester. And I'm being deliberately vague because it's either you went for a scan and they didn't mention if baby had turned or you're freaking out about it. And there's no need to, let's not worry about something that hasn't happened. Only worry if by 36 weeks baby hasn't turned. If I'm right, tell yourself "baby will do what baby's gonna do when baby wants to do it!" and go get yourself some ice-cream. The good stuff (not Fan Yogo but Coldstone. Give yourself a treat). ![]() |
miraclefromGod:How many weeks are you? Your BP rising this early is slightly worrying. Fear and anxiety will make it rise but not that much unless they are other underlying factors. Your doctor will keep checking and he may recommend bedrest. Do you have panic attacks normally (like you really freak out, break in a sweat, almost break down when any situation goes wrong?). Try and think of things that make you relax, this is the best time to take up a hobby (don't just read a Bible, do something). What do you like doing or what have you been interested in doing? Someone I know loves to organize people's wardrobe and clothing, it calms her down and isn't stressful (it's also a good career as a stylist because she has a great fashion eye). I like gardening, volunteering and painting. Do you like books? Yoga is expensive in Nigeria or I would have recommended it. What about joining a choir or learning a musical instrument at your church? With the recession and stuff, it will also add to your anxiety if you worry about financial issues and family stuff. You have to do physical stuff to avoid it. I was under horrible stress during my last pregnancy and eventually I decided to stop knowing the numbers of my BP because it was making it worse. I'm fine now. You're going to be just fine too, okay. |
Naomi14:I am actually going to conduct a Scientific study on the "Efficiency and Efficacy of White Thread in the Treatment of Hiccups in Neonates". It shall be published by WHO. I am actually going to ask Mums here and on Newborn thread to help conduct the study. If anyone is interested, please indicate your interest. We need 3 groups: control, white thread, any other method. Let's push STEM in women! ![]() |
Doctors do make mistakes during CS and cut babies. 2 cases I know of (one a mum from here) happened in the UK (which has better health care than Nigeria). And no, student doctors are not allowed to carry out CS. Another case, the surgical team pulled on the Newborn so hard (to remove from the womb) that they dislocated the baby's arm. Also happened abroad. In the US, horrendous stories exist when it comes to things going wrong with nurses and midwives, especially during homeopathic births. My uncle (a well-known surgeon and CMD of a hospital in the UK) lost a mum on the operating table because she reacted poorly to the anesthesia (it made her haemorrage and no-one noticed because she seemed to be doing fine after the surgery, until they went to check on her and she was fading). All these cases happened in well-maintained and staffed hospitals outside the country. You cannot deliver at your own job 100% every single day, every minute, nobody can. A lot can go wrong during birth, human error and medical error and sometimes it's just not your day error. Be very thankful when your journey ends smoothly. All you can do is your part, stay fit, eat well, know your medical info off the top of your head (what's your blood type, are you allergic to anything, any lifestyle choices that could effect you, has anything been off in the past week, what have you been treated for recently) Your spouse should know your basic medical info (in case you cannot answer), have your financial stash ready to pay for any emergencies and choose a good hospital. And pray. |
divie:Girlie, I'm thanking God on your behalf. You went through a lot! Well done. |
When the Grandmas-and-Aunts Collective has made you say, 20 times in 10 minutes, the following sentences: "No I don't want to give Gripe water 3 times a day" "No I don't want to give baby water, he's not thirsty" "No I'm not going to put white thread on baby's head, how the %&$# does that cure hiccups?! " Etc Then they come and ask you, "Why are you squeezing your face, is everything okay?" Your reply?

proudmom38:I remember you from the old days, when some of us were on this thread, you, Lil proudly, prouddad. It's good to see how far you've come, infact how far we've all come (modath, helovesme, you, so many of us). Happy birthday to him, he's a special little boy and I pray he continues to grow in grace. |
Trottle:Before you clap too much, an educated husband can also do this. I got most of my education from my father and it was a great education. Nothing makes this a mother's job only, both parents should do it. |
Debclem, accept my condolences. It will be well with you. |
olubankemi:Who's Samie, does he or she owe me money, is he or she rich, because I'd like some money... Errrrr ask Kidco? He should hopefully reply this. |
hunniesuzie:They have to let me go, it's very exhausting when I decide to start giving excuses. I'm in the mood to start again right now... But if someone has a spare N500, 000 they are not using, I can stop if they give me. |
spiceeamiee:Get a bulb and suck out the saliva at the sides of her cheeks. That's all. It's not a medical issue unless she's choking, can't sleep etc. |
Happy birthday prettyhurts blackftm Where are the Lekki Mums? Who wants to go jogging, I don't want to go by myself before I get kidnapped and the kidnappers realize I can afford only N40, 000 as ransom and then they turn me into camp cook and then they realize my ogbono soup may not be the best and then they finally ask me to handwash clothes and I go "I've got Wicklow..." and they get tired of my excuses and return me back home exhausted |
Roseey0:That is a paid endorsement. Kim Kardashian will never give out prime time space on her social media for love of people she doesn't know or care about irl unless there's money involved. Ifyalways, don't hate La Kardashian, I have stopped insulting her when I realised for all her lack of anything, she has turned nothing into money successfully. Now I wish I had done aristo when I was young, sigh ![]() |
Contem2011, how are you? It's been a while, hope you're good and your pregnancy is going well. |

blackFTM:"Midwife in UK" is the operative sentence. I was prescribed it in the US. Remember, they eat salads and are vegan, you eat meat twice today (and sometimes more than one piece of meat). Ask an experienced Dr. |
I am really, really, REALLY concerned that immunization ampoules are being sold on the open market. I don't care if it is a pharmacy. How did they get it?? The process of supplying immunization medications to a country like Nigeria is that WHO makes it available to the government of the country and the government distributes it to hospitals and private hospitals buy from government. Immunizations have serial numbers to track authenticity. Pharmaceutical industries like Emzor and another group are trying to go into manufacture of immunization medications however it it not readily available yet. But, immunizations should not be so readily available to your random pharmacy in any area. Unless they are getting supplied by Indian/Asian companies privately. And Indian companies have been known to sell off expired or almost expired drugs to private companies (trust our people, they do adjust the expiry dates and flood the market with a blend of fakes and originals). Factor into consideration that immunizations are supposed to be cold-room storage (always refrigerated) and you may as well be giving water to your child. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This is just my word of caution, it is up to you to make whatever decision you feel best. www.nefescorner..com |
blackFTM:Milk him up. Lots of milk, he will be fine. Don't try and induce vomiting. Never do palm oil, it doesn't neutralize enough poisons. By the way, vitamin D supplement for breastfed babies refers more to babies born in the western world and their mothers' diet: they are not red meat eaters like Africans are. We do red meat in meals at least twice daily, so you're passing on enough vitamin D. Never induce vomiting. Babies do sometimes pass food out of their noses and it could go into their lungs. They will asphyxiate (die from lack of air, similar to drowning). Never induce vomiting. Someone brought in a boy who drank Sniper and he made it (barely). My daughter put the cap of her antibacterial cream into her mouth and licked the cream, months later she's chasing chickens (she and her chickens have finally called a ceasefire, so they let her hold them and she doesn't chase anymore). I didn't induce vomiting. It came out of her system. Horrible things happen, your strength lies from learning from it, bouncing back quick and moving on. |
That's not the right family, nothing to do with the CBN governor. Unless these are are a cadet branch of Emefiele from Ika LGA. |
maran1983:We are good. Doing our best to hold things together with a positive attitude. |
Hey maran1983 how are you, it's been a while. |
cococandy:Sister, I haff done all dat shiii and still nurring! They cut her hair though (made me mad). Sigh. This lack of hair is derailing our grand plan of marrying a rich white Boi (aka Prince George Windsor) |
Nigerian languages, in general, are not gendered. #TeamSpeakYaLocalLanguage ![]() |
Cococandy, please I have the most important question on this thread so abeg answer: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR HER HAIR TO GROW LIKE THAT?!! |
