Ya, I get you. The first part is happenchance, not design. The second part is not true--scientists do not claim that the earth would not support life were it a few inches out of orbit. In any case the earth varies widely in its distance from the sun. |

What she needs to understand is that belief cannot be forced. You either believe or you don't. For example, I can't imagine how I could force myself to believe that 2+2=5. It simply isn't going to happen. |

All other gods are not god but idols. Like bowing down and worshiping stone that cannot talk, see, or move. Is just a foolishness for a living being to choose a non-living thing as God. How will something that cannot talk bless me that can talk? How will something that i create glorify my destiny?
All other gods are gods but they are dead, my own God is God and he is living. I am not god. I do to many silly things to be a god. But if you are your own god, fine, just remember to not take yourself too seriously. |

Lukay99: All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Just be aware that this quote (what you put in bold) does not appear in the hadiths. The most reliable hadith collectors (Muslim and Bukhari) do not mention this phrase about black and white. And beyond that there are multiple versions of Muhammad's last sermon, of which the Shia's version is very different. |

I don't think that Muhammad said that black people go to hell. There is nothing in the hadiths about that. The only thing I can find which could be considered vaguely racist was that Muhammad said that Satan looked like a black man. |

CaptainJune: BRIGHTRIVERS and Youngpol, have you read the stories of the following former atheists who died and why they gave their lives to Christ?
Thomas Welch. He fell from a great height and died instantly.
Howard Storm. Had a fatal disease and died after a nurse told him that a surgeon could not be found that day to treat him even though she expressed hope that one would be found the next day.
Ian McCormack. He went swimming with some friends in Mauritius, was stung by a box-jellyfish and died later.
Dr Eben Alexander. A neurosurgeon and atheist. Went into three weeks of coma when he succumbed to meningitis. All that time in coma, his brain was dead, yet he had consciousness.
These are just a few but are eye openers to let you know that atheists bask in ignorance, that is, until they come face to face with reality, especially through death, and all their argument against God's existence crumble into pieces.
Of course, there are former atheists who didn't need death to convince them of the truth in the Bible, but who can win an argument against death? Empty claims, all of them. Nothing at all to back up anything they say. There is no way to prove or disprove anything they said. |

Reyginus: But that's not the question. Let me rephrase.
When you have reason you have conviction. Yes or No? If yes what is conviction? If No, can reason then happen? Can you ever be 100% certain? You should always be open to the possibility of being wrong for one reason or another. Humility should be a primary trait for someone who prefers reason over faith. However, I can accept that 2+2 =4 with conviction because all other answers are falsifiable. |

Kind of funny that anyone trying to preach a new religion in Saudi Arabia would be treated much worse than anything Muhammad was complaining about. Their human rights would definitely be violated--by Muslims.
In any case, these passages certainly justify the need for revenge by Muslims, who can simply claim virtually anything--even the mildest offense such as criticism of Muhammad--as a form of oppression and then attack. Some of these extremist Muslims groups use verses like these to justify their behavior.
And when you have groups who believe that God authorizes revenge, then when fighting starts, the only logical conclusion is that there will be an endless cycle of violence until one side destroys or conquers the other, which is so common in the Middle East.
These verses can mean anything to anybody. You're as bad as the Christians. |

Many theists have accused the atheists of being capable of doing the most evil things (such as eating a beautiful baby), and so idea of atheists eating babies was adopted by atheists as a joke reference to those accusations. If theists would have only left atheists alone then this joke wouldn't exist. I don't necessarily find it particularly funny but it doesn't bother me. |

Demmzy15: I started everything clearly, even Umar who narrated the hadith you quoted above @emboldened acted upon this command when he was the Leader of Muslims. He moved all Jews to Taymâ and Arîhâ. He was with the Prophet when he said it and he acted upon it, he didn't drive them out totally. He only moved them out of Hijaz and its environs. You should be aware that a lot of Muslims disagree with you and do not like the Hindu temple being built. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Abu Dhabi Sheikhs Award Land Indians For Hindu Temple by onetrack(m): 9:20pm On Aug 17, 2015 |
Demmzy15: You need to know what you're saying so as you won't misinform. Understanding is a great virtue and I think you lack that. We have enough Jews and Christians in the Arabian peninsula with Jews in Saudi Arabia until the declaration of Israel.
When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave commands to his companions he spoke using the terminology and the language that they were familiar with. Thus, the regions mentioned were defined according to the cultural and geopolitical setting in Arabia. If we look at how the Prophet's comnpanions understood and implemented his directives, we are able to develop a better understanding of what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) intended.
This was why Umar(RadiAllahu Anha) acted upon this orders by relocating the Jews:
`Umar sent them to Taymâ and Arîhâ. This is proof that the Prophet (peace be upon him) intended that the Jews and Christians should be evicted from only part of the Arabian Peninsula, specifically the region of Hijâz. This is because Taymâ is part of the Arabian Peninsula but outside of Hijâz." (Sharh Sahîh Muslim 10/212-213)
"Al-Shâfi`î understood the ruling to apply to part of the Arabian Peninsula, namely the Hijâz region. For him this is Makkah, Madînah, al-Yamâmah and their environs. It does not include Yemen and other areas of the Arabian Peninsula." (Sharh Sahîh Muslim 11/93-94)
"The pagans are not allowed to settle specifically in the Hijâz region, meaning Makkah, Madînah, al-Yamâmah, and their environs. It does not apply to other regions that are considered part of the Arabian Peninsula. This is because everyone is agreed that they may live in Yemen, though it is part of the Arabian Peninsula. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars." (Fath al-Bârî 6/198)
So this is why you can find churches, synagogues in other parts of the Arabian peninsula but not in Saudi Arabia. The areas I emphasized in "red" are found in Saudi Arabia, so don't get it twisted. These areas are sanctuaries to Muslims and it must be respected. Sahih Muslim #1767a: "It has been narrated by 'Umar b. al-Khattib that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.' It cannot get any clearer than that. But given the comments on the issue made by the scholars you cite, it seems that, once again, religious scripture means whatever people want it to mean (but we've known that forever. Secondly, this is more proof that religious scripture is a mish-mash of contradicting statements concocted by humans. Do you really think that Muhammad would allow a new pagan temple to be constructed in Arabia, given his contempt for them as seen in the Quran? |

I think this is a good step for the rulers of Abu Dhabi. When you consider that Muhammad ordered the Muslims to expel all the polytheists, Jews, and Christians from the Arabian peninsula, it's nice to see them allowing them to return and build places of worship (even if I am an atheist). Tolerance of peaceful religious practices is better than intolerance. The next step should be Saudi Arabia. |
