I am happy to see the army make such progress, but I wonder what changed all of a sudden. I have to wonder how much of the work is being done by the South African mercenaries.

Where could I get a sample of Jesus' blood? I'd like to have it tested to see where his Y-chromosome came from, since Mary had a 'virgin birth'. I'm betting the y-chromosome belongs to a Roman soldier.

Atheists do not believe in Satan either.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: Chad Withdraws Troops From Nigeria To Cameroon by onetrack(m): 2:01pm On Mar 13, 2015
Nigeria has simultaneously launched an offensive to retake a series of towns with the backing of hundreds of mercenaries from South Africa and the former Soviet Union in a bid to secure towns ahead of a rescheduled March 28 election.
This tells you almost everything you need to know, though I think it's the other way around. The military is backing the mercenaries and not the other way around.

@all, Since you guys are not inhibited by religion, I am curious as to what you feel about same sex relationship?
I used to be very homophobic; not anymore. I see no reason to oppose homosexuality, gay marriage, or transvestites. I also do not oppose polygamy as long as the woman also has the right to multiple husbands. Really whatever sexual or family arrangements that consenting adults wish to make is none of my business.

The whites are actually afraid of the powers in an african traditional religion, esp: during the colonial era, thus they through manipulative and force means lure us africans away from it and replaced it, gave us powerless, fake, nonsense, and useless, fables good for notin if not slavery and called it religion, they feared the powers in our ancestorial religion is detrimental to thier slave programe thus they termed it evil, they feared with it africans will over power them one day, hence they did every thing, and are still doing to lure us away from it ,they used force and even demonized it, and it seems as if they succeseded but there are still reminant,
just imagine had africans retained the means to powers as found in their religion coupled with the knowledge of modern science to day,
chai! who be the whites self!
So the whites were so afraid of the power of African juju that they.....destroyed it? Doesn't sound like the juju had any power in the first place.

Christianity EtcRe: Atheist Please Educate Me On The Existence And Potency Of African Voodoo by onetrack(m): 8:35pm On Mar 08, 2015
Sweden has done quite well, given that, not only do they have no juju, but only about 3% of them actually go to church.

How did tiny Belgium take over the Congo in the face of all that juju? (by the way, the answer that I have been given by a believer in juju is that African juju only works for certain things, and does not repel invaders) huh

I would love to see a test carried out: two groups of people are isolated and given the same land and resources, one of whom practices no religion or juju and instead just works and develops their resources; the other does no work but just practices religion or juju. Who will come out ahead?

IslamRe: Friday Message: Did Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Marry A Child? by onetrack(m): 9:22pm On Mar 05, 2015
iboladeji:
Briefly, let me point out another error.

This is not wholly correct. Referring you back to a previous post

Cultural issues only come into play in MUNDANE aspects of Islam. In religious aspects, you have no room for guesswork e.g A Chinese Muslim dare not pray/fast... differently from a Kanuri Muslim. Except for heretics of course.
Also, salafists and other adjectives are just names used to cause confusion. The religious rules are clear, those that follow strictly do and some decide to innovate. Muslim na Muslim, but quality differs based on conformity to dictates.
As always, the 'devil' is in the details. Defining what is mundane vs. what religious is even itself subject to debate (hence the salafists). In any case Muslims are fond of saying that Islam is a complete way of life, and for many that means that every behavior is regulated by Islam. Other, not so strict Muslims, like sufis, would have a broader view of what is mundane and not regulated by religion. Even the Shia have quite different beliefs (praying only 3 times a day, for example).

Also, salafists and other adjectives are just names used to cause confusion.
No, they give clarity so that people can have some idea what type of Islam a person practices. If someone tells me they are just a Muslim, about the only thing I can really assume about them is that they accept Muhammad as a prophet and believe that the Quran is the word of God. If they tell me they are salafist or sufi, I can get a much better idea of their approach. In any case, your own prophet Muhammad said that the Muslims would divide into 73 sects, who are you to say that there are not really any divisions in Islam?

Appreciate your openness. That is why i would reply you and ignore the other rants.
Your line of argument is quite impressive but you made major errors. In Islamic law, issues are divided into two: Religious and Mundane. We are bound to follow the Prophet in religious issues. In mundane issues, everyone is free to follow what he or his current society deems right.
Of course, you do not see Muslims riding horses and camels; you do not see Muslims living in deserts nor do you see Muslims wearing izhar (ancient Arab wrapper). These are mundane issues which are not legislated by Islam, rather, regulated. But in religious issues, they are both legislated and regulated. We HAVE TO pray the same way He prayed, fast the same way He fasted, on and on...

The issue of woman's marry-able age is the focal point of this discussion. As said earlier

This is because this issue is mundane.
Please note the difference.

Thanks for your openness, i wish it would lead you to guidance.
Goodluck to the evil ranters, i hope they would also get guided.
My training and my work are in the field of history so I hope I have some historical perspective of events.

I can agree with much of what you wrote. Of course Muslims are not obligated to marry a child just because Muhammad did. Every religion adapts itself to the culture of the time (obviously the Salafists would disagree with that). A Muslim being against child marriage is kind of like a Christian being against slavery: there is no clear religious basis to be against either one and there are specific passages in the holy scriptures permitting them, but few people (such as atheists grin ) would call a Christian out for being against slavery when the Bible permits it.

Christians should also be against almost all divorce and loaning money at interest, but you know how that works--there's always away around such rules. Regarding Islam, there are other things to criticize and I think that focusing on things other than the age of Aisha is more interesting.

Q: Can i get a brief straight to the truth definition of atheists?
A: Atheists are people devoid of common sense.
So common sense requires that I believe in virgin births, a talking snake, a talking donkey, someone who walks on water, and a god who acts like a spoiled child? (I have to admit it would be very convenient to know someone who can turn water into wine, however I can't believe that it's possible).

IslamRe: Friday Message: Did Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Marry A Child? by onetrack(m): 9:06pm On Feb 27, 2015
Atheist here. This whole issue of Muhammad marrying a 6-year-old girl is not a big deal from a historical perspective, as it is rightly pointed out that many cultures have accepted child marriage until quite recent times. I personally do not use the 'Muhammad-as-pedophile' approach, as he was a man of his time.

The problem is that Muslims hold up Muhammad as the role model for all of humanity for all time.

Whether or not some European ruler married a 6 year old back in the year 1400 doesn't really matter because nobody would consider him to be best man in history, worthy of being imitated until the end of time, unlike Muslims who are expected to try to imitate the life of Muhammad as the proper way of living. As a result, any Muslim who is against child marriage could be rightly criticised from a strict Islamic point of view. The Quran even gives instructions on how to divorce your pre-pubescent wife. Considering that Islam is considered to be final and unchangeable, this means that child marriage can never really be outlawed in an Islamic state. That, in my view, is a problem.

I would note that Christianity does not actually forbid child marriage either, and that neither religion forbids slavery.
Christianity EtcRe: How Prophets Pray In The Bible by onetrack(m): 7:28pm On Feb 24, 2015
Am not a Christian (in fact I'm a hardcore atheist), but this form of prayer goes back long before the Jews. It was also used as a form of respect towards kings and rulers in the Middle East (look up the term proskynesis) for thousands of years. Muslims simply use a tradition of respect that was used for many centuries towards gods (yes, pagan gods) and men. Nothing prophetic about it.

Christianity EtcRe: Is There A God? Six Reasons To Believe God Exists - By A Former Atheist. by onetrack(m): 10:19am On Feb 23, 2015
5. Does God exist? We know God exists because he pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him.
What an absurd question and answer. If there is a god and he wants to reveal himself he can do it, and not hide and whisper in the ears of some people who then claim to be prophets.

You don't 'join'. It's not a club or a private group. Your beliefs (or lack thereof) determine whether or not you are one of us. For example if you don't believe in God then you are already an atheist, even if you go to church.
