AlfaSeltzer: Op, you are talking as if Hell is a bad place The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to be in heaven Exactly. Depending on your religion, in heaven you either mindlessly sing songs of praise all day, or you mindlessly have sex with virgins. Where are the football rivalries, the jokes between friends, the exploration of new places, political and religious debates, the challenge of discovering new ways to solve problems, tasting a new and delicious food; in short, anything that makes life interesting? Heaven, as described, does not interest me. Even the virgins would be boring, since virgins don't know what to do. Also a permanent erec.tion would get annoying after a while. And singing songs of praise all day? Don't get me started. |

Anas09: @ pleatton, I guess its a waste of time responding to u. And as for blaspheming against the holy spirit. Here are the words of Christ Himself Matt 12:31-32. Wherefore I say unto you. All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men niether in this world or in the world to come. Anyway goodluck with ur war against God. Just know there's a meeting point. U didn't bring urself here, u can't determine how or wen u shall leave here, when u do, u shall face him. @Johny. Ah na wao. But sitting in heaven sipping milk while others burn in hell? But right now you have been provided with that choice of ending up sitting and sipping that milk instead of burning in hell, what r u doing wif that choice Biko? Wait a minute. So you are saying that men should not take responsibility for their actions, good or bad? Chei but that's not fair. Haven received christ, am made to leave all life's pleasures and walk in the spirit. But u r enjoying ur sex as u like. because u don't belive in God, u don't owe him any explaination as to how u live ur life. My dear, believe it or not. We will account for how we conducted our lives here on earth. If u don't want to burn in hell receive Christ now. Last year I blasphemed the Holy Spirit in several different ways here on nairaland in order to get Christians to stop trying to save me. It didn't work because they kept telling me that whatever I did was not technically blasphemy and therefore I could still be saved. I could not win, no matter what I said about the Holy Spirit. When I asked what counted as blasphemy (so that I could do it ) they said they didn't really know. And, to keep the Muslims from trying to convert me, I also hereby declare myself to be a partner of Allah, thereby committing the unforgivable sin in Islam. Are there any other religions that have the notion of an unforgivable sin so that I can do it now and get it over with? |

We can say with just as much validity that 'God' will welcome the atheists because this world was a test to see who could figure out that religions were all man-made and had nothing to do with god. We could even say that religions are an insult to god in the way that they portray him (he's emotional, temperamental, capricious, vengeful, etc.).
I can't say for sure that God does not exist, but I can sure say that religions are man-made. |

Christianity Etc › Ireland Delivered A Hard Slap To The Catholic Church Today by onetrack(op): 7:12pm On May 23, 2015 |
The people of the Republic of Ireland, once virtually controlled by the Catholic Church, voted to legalize same-sex marriages today in defiance of the wishes of the Church. Glad to see that the Irish people have finally broken the hold that the Church has had on people for the last 1000 years. This is despite the fact that the Church still virtually controls the Irish education system.
The church needs to read the writing on the wall: reform or perish. |

Christianity Etc › Re: An Islamic World? by onetrack(m): 1:07pm On May 20, 2015 |
If the world were to suddenly Islamicize, the US would still be the dominant military power and could then impose its own version of Islam across the world. The Chinese would likewise do the same in the regions they influence. They could even make jihad against those Muslims who belong to different sects around the world. They could take over Mecca and Medina with ease and control access to those places.
An Islamicized America would be more dangerous to the Middle Eastern countries than even now, because they would be acting as the protectors of 'true Islam' when they went to war over in the Middle East.
Would you really want the US to try to impose their version of Islam on northern Nigeria, and use extreme force to do it? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Muhammads Letter To The Monks Of St. Catherine Monastery (Ashtiname Of Muhammad) by onetrack(m): 7:52am On May 20, 2015 |
The Ashtiname is almost certainly a fraud created by the monks to protect themselves from attack by Muslim rulers. In any case none of the hadiths mention any such document being given to the monks. |

elantraceey: Na , the early church I know wasn't anything like that . You know that's actually the problem today, everyone thinks they are correct and their way is the best, nobody want to succumb to another to gain knowledge some are even too big for the holy spirit to teach but you know the bible have said there's going to be a time when there will be unity of faith and I believe it . I studied the early church at university. One of the reasons they kept having to hold councils was that the leaders were arguing over many minor points of dogma. Paul clearly directs some of his letters against other Christians (mainly in Jerusalem like James the Just) over their approach to the new religion. |

God put that mechanism in place to coordinate the church didn't he? the holy spirit hasn't made its voice clear enough. ..therefore it's a failed project like many other projects embarked on by Jehova You have to admit that it is rambling, incoherent posts like the OP that makes the religion section interesting. There is soooo much BS to work with that we almost don't know even where to begin. This is a period where no Christian should be without the holy spirit because his the only part of the God head Lol. elantraceey: At this time there's a need for awakening in the church , its high time we stop attacking yourself or judging and critising ourselves and come together as one body of Christ This has never happened. Christians have been arguing among themselves since the death of Jesus about, well, just about everything. Coming together as one always has a nice sound to it, but I don't think Catholics and Protestants and Orthodox are going to unify without settling who is 'correct'. Good luck with that. |

kay1one2: Does your father force down his will on you successfully? You have a free will. If you throughout your time on earth reject God, he won't force you into a relationship; eternal for that matter, with Him. That cannot create a relationship! My father existed. I knew him and could see him and talk to him. He did indeed force certain things on me, but eternal punishment was never something he wanted to inflict on me, no matter how stupid I was. |

Mickheal: I do love some subjects but nt very good at them.... Economics, maths and english do interest me .....I'm studying banking and finance at ospoly , I like the course Does that mean a talent? Not necessarily. Talents are something that you develop over time with practice. Most of the best musicians in the world are that way because they practiced way more than other people, not because of some inborn talent. If you really spend a lot of time focusing on one or two things, you will become quite good at them. If you spend more time than other people doing something, you will probably become better than them at that task. And practising something is always easier when you like what it is you are doing. |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Story For Atheists. by onetrack(m): 9:03pm On May 12, 2015 |
kay1one2: Hell wasn't created for man. It was created for the devil and his demons. When a man lives with the devil's principles, he creates his own hell even before judgement. After rejecting God's own Son; Jesus Christ, who came from the other side to show us the way, it becomes obvious that that child has no intentions of being with the "Mother". This leads to the "Mother" having to leave that child to its own decisions, which means an eternity without a relationship with God; "the Mother" in this scenario. God recieves no pleasure in losing any of His children to an eternity without Him. That's why Jesus came, why he will return. Hell is not God's will for any man. Sending Jesus to die on an old rugged Cross proves that! Then it's not a good analogy if it is so flawed in that manner. And if God receives no pleasure from putting anyone in hell, he can solve that problem very easily if he is all-powerful as you probably claim. God sounds like he is very confused and in need of guidance. |

Well, I was thinking about some kind of activity that requires a marketable skill. Not sure what watching movies can do, though a few people make a living as film critics. It wouldn't be easy to make much money doing it unless you have a big following. Do you have a favorite school subject or any hobby/pastime that you like and enjoy doing? |

kay1one2: In a mother’s womb were two babies. One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?” The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.” “Nonsense” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?” The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.” The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.” The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.” The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover if there is life, then why has no one has ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.” “Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.” The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?” The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her this world would not and could not exist.” Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.” To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and you really listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.” - Útmutató a Léleknek . Does the mother know that the first child does not believe in her? And does she set him on fire when he is born as a punishment? Cause that's what God would do! |

McSterling: I can't deny that you have many sensational tales to tell...tales rife with loopholes and untruths that you perhaps have convinced yourself to believe. Your claims remain unsubstantiated though.
Some questions I ask myself often concerning juju is this: if we have such incredible power at our fingertips here in Africa, why have we failed to harness it? Why hasn't the government invested in it? Why have we not found ways to amplify it? Why haven't we seen juju generate revenue for us? Why hasn't it increased our GDP? Do you have any idea how invaluable that dirty water used by the village priest in your tale could be to the arms market and militaries world over? Why is juju so elusive? Why is it so surreptitious? Or is there something fishy about it? In addition you don't see the US military making use of juju. They would surely have started using it long ago if it was real. |

Without reading all the other comments here so far, let me just say that I have zero spirituality and zero faith. I've always been like that, even though I went to church as a child, which is why I don't call myself an apostate--I never really believed. When I was forced to pray I felt like I was just talking to myself.
Evidence (testable and replicable) is the only thing that works for me, and spirituality has none of that. Mystical things, in my view, are just nonsense. |
