There are also a lot of former Muslims in the UK; people who were raised in Islam but stopped believing, though they usually become atheists or agnostic. That is the big trend in the UK among all religions. |
ShaheedBinAliyu:Believe what you want, but the book has been disproven because it contains obvious errors about life in those times. It was written only about 700 years ago, long after Muhammad lived. The book talks about wine being stored in wooden casks. This did not occur during the lifetime of Jesus (they used clay pots or wineskins), and the author did not know this. Obvious error. "Jesus" also mentions sugar. Sugar was not known in that region until long after Jesus' death. There are many other errors which show that the writer did not know much about the life and times of Jesus. |
ShaheedBinAliyu:Do you? |
ShaheedBinAliyu:But you don't believe in Joseph Smith. He was also a prophet. Same with Baha'ullah. |
Not again!! This gets posted every week. This book is a fraud. It was written about 700 years ago, almost certainly by a Muslim. Don't you wonder why the big Islamic universities don't say anything about this book? They know it is fake. |
Hiswordxray:Yes my mother exists. I have seen her and interacted with her. I have not seen anything resembling a god. And neither have you. |
honourhim:You are not 100% sure. I am not 100% sure that there is no god. |
theunusualmoon:Given enough chances (in this case multiple billions of planets), there is a very good chance that some of them would have conditions to support life. This distance is not calculated nor was the earth necessarily placed by anyone. |
theunusualmoon:The distance from the sun to the earth actually varies. Besides, if there was an all-powerful god that wanted to create us then the distance from the sun to the earth is irrelevant, since he can create us under any conditions, right? But you have it the other way around. The earth was not created for us to exist, we exist only because we developed in such a way that fits the earth. And there are billions of other planets out there, many of which could support life, and in fact they might. |
theunusualmoon:I absolutely do not think the earth is anywhere near perfect planned. Humans can only live on a small part of the earth's surface. There are many things which can kill us. The earth may only seem perfectly planned because we evolved in such a way that we fit into the earth's environment. |
honourhim:Isn't almost everything guesswork? |
theunusualmoon:No. But the evidence that I've seen points to a random event. |
theunusualmoon:I have no religious beliefs. Life is a random event and has no purpose (actually, I give life my own purpose). |
AJ AjFive:There are many like you. I concluded long ago that, at the very least, the 'god' of the Bible and Quran is creation of human imagination. God asks some guy to sacrifice his own son just to show his love for god? God tells people that the only way to 'heaven' is to believe that some guy was tortured to death in order for the original sin that God gave you could be forgiven by this same God? And that the only way you know this is that somebody gave you a book and said it is the inspired word of god? I do not believe in any god. |
If you are religious, you can do whatever you want and then just pray for forgiveness. Your conscience is now clear to go ahead and 'sin' again. Repeat. |
She could be transgender--someone who feels that they were born with the wrong sexual organs. Do a little digging in African history and you'll see that these people have existed in earlier times, often assuming the role of a woman in the village. If that's the way she is then I feel sorry for her. It's not easy living like that. I just read where a transgender killed herself in the US out of depression. |
Narrated Abu Huraira: "The Prophet said, "Jews and Christians do not dye their hair so you should do the opposite of what they do." --Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 7, Book 72, Hadith 786 It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas, who attributed it to the Prophet, said "Some people will dye their hair black like the breasts of pigeons at the end of time, but they will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise." --Sunan an Nasa'i Vol. 6, Book 48, Hadith 5078 Grade: Sahih So why don't Muslims dye their hair? It seems like they are required to in order to be unlike Christians and Jews. But you can't use black, so use some other color, like pink or blue. |
benalvino2:Which God? There are thousands that people worship. |
benalvino2:How do you know the 'creator' cannot be created? Proof? What does it matter that many celestial objects are round? What is that supposed to mean? |
And your god? What are his origins? He must have a creator, because (according to religious people) everything has a creator. |
The Romans set January 1 as the first day of the year. The Romans were pagans at that time. Thus, January 1 is a pagan new years day. And look at the origins of the names of the months--all pagan. |
asalimpo:Good question. I suppose the ultimate test would be for me to be awake, not under the influence of drugs, and with one or more of my atheist friends to confirm what I saw. If this god could stop time for the whole world except for me and my atheist friend, I think I'd believe at that point. |
neoapocalypse:Any rational person must be willing to believe anything, no matter how absurd, if it can be proven using scientific and/or logical principles. However extraordinary claims (such as claiming your god exists) requires extraordinary proof. |
LordIbro:Well then if it's all a matter of luck then why pray or fast? And I'm atheist, not pagan. |
I never prayed or fasted and I am fine. I have a good life. Maybe you what you are doing is a waste of time. |
You don't understand the atheist position. We don't say that god(s) cannot exist, we just lack belief in any god. If some god came down to me, and proved he was god, I'd believe. But that hasn't happened, and no other "proof" is sufficient. |
This gets posted at least once a month. This is fake. This book is only about 700 years old, well after the time of Muhammad, and was likely written by Muslims seeking to discredit Christianity. |
ERCROSS:Don't put this on us atheists. We know this book is a fake. It's Muslims who promote this book. |
benalvino1:They are still working on that. You need to ask someone with greater knowledge than I. In any case this has really nothing to do with the fact that I'm an atheist. |
benalvino1:Well, we know that Adam and Eve and the garden of Eden did not happen; we just don't know every detail about the big bang. And yes, I would claim that the existence of life is due to chance. Our bodies don't adapt well to many situations. We are easy prey for many diseases and animals. We are just another part of the food chain. |
Don't conflate knowledge of the big bang with atheism. We don't understand everything about the big bang, but that doesn't mean that god did it. We thought the same thing about diseases 200 years ago. Also I don't think that the human body is that well-constructed. We have plenty of flaws. We are simply the work of ongoing evolution. |

then you are still doing a guess work.
