Your prediction of a violent storm would not be impressive, since they do happen occasionally. However if you predicted 10 cm of snow in Lagos and it happened a short time later, now that would be impressive! |
In any case the earth's distance from the sun is always changing. Its orbit is elliptical, not circular, and we don't notice the difference. I didn't read any further. |
Lol at some people who say that you have to "open your heart" to understand religion. It's just another way of saying "shut off your brain". For many years I was told I just had to have faith. Then I realized that I simply don't have faith in anything no matter what, and the way was clear. |
For those who believe in a god, which god is it? One could even make the case that the god of the old testament and the god of the new are two different creatures. |
Abuamam:"Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled." Quran 9:29 |
It is clear from the quran that the jizya is a humiliation tax. So any attempt to impose such a tax should be resisted. However, given that I am atheist, I would not even be allowed to live in a sharia state. I would be forced to convert. |
Orunto:So you think that god is not perfect. |
asalimpo:Your threats are useless. Just like your imaginary |
If you read Revelation, it is clear that God wants a savage, bloody end to the world. He wants many millions to die very violent deaths. What is the point of this? Why is God such a psychopath? He can end the world (or make it continue) however he wants. Muslims also believe the world will come to a violent end, so in that sense Christians and Muslims share this belief. |
Think about how many 'miracles' were actually explained later by scientific explanations. Now think about how many scientific principles turned out later to have a miraculous, non-scientific explanation. Compare the number. That should answer your question. |
Africans have always had spirituality but religion is new. |
blym4real:We don't yet know the origins of the universe. But we don't say that 'god did it'. |
Absurd |
Atheist here, this was about what I expected, though I was actually pleasantly surprised that no one threatened us with some fiery punishment from some angry, jealous god. A lot of people used the Kalamist argument, but that begs the question where does god come from. |
I'm a triple A: agnostic atheist antitheist. |
I never really believed, even though I went to church until I was 16. The whole thing sounded like the fantasy stories I had read as a child. When I finally actually read the Bible, that convinced me that it was just a man-made book. Same with the Quran, after being told what an amazing book it was I was terribly disappointed when I read it. Both books are just attempts to manipulate the beliefs of gullible people. |
The Bible is a pile of confusion. I'd say the most authentic 'holy' book is the Kitab-i-Aqdas, the Bahai scriptures, because they were directly written by the Bahais' messenger himself, Baha'ullah, and not written down by his follower after his death, like so many other 'holy' books. |
frustratedman:A psychologist. I know there aren't many in NIgeria but there must be some. Also, search the internet for information about depression. It is quite common and there is therapy for it. |
Seek psychological counseling. It can really help you. Don't mind religion. |
FreshGreen:Why is that? |
Atheist here (working in the field of history). If you take a group of people who speak the same language, split them into three groups and isolate them from each other for 1000 years, then when you brought them back together they wouldn't be able to understand each other. This process would be even quicker if the peoples were not literate. That's how different languages form. This has been observed many times. Latin, for instance, became a dozen different languages by about 700 AD. |
Sorry, I could never respect a god that created a hell for his own creations. Even if I were to say with my mouth that I loved god, my inner thoughts would be the exact opposite. However with me being atheist it doesn't matter does it? |
Flying in an airplane is also not part of Nigerian traditional culture. It is also very unnatural. Did Adam and Eve fly? No. |
Photoshop |
Let's see.... I don't believe in any god, I detest rituals like praying, I read the Quran and found too many flaws, I find some of Muhammad's behavior very immoral, too many Muslim countries are economic, social, and political disasters.... Tell me why I should be Muslim? |
See a psychologist if you can find one, that would be much better than a priest or imam performing an exorcism. |
The school will probably make an offer to settle out of court before trial. This is often what happens. The mother will get a few hundred thousand dollars to make the case go away. |
Abuamam:Go to Senegal where the Mallams do the exact same thing as the preachers in Nigeria. Also the Quran does ask the reader to reason but ultimately commands you to obey Muhammad. |
There is absolutely zero scientific basis for this claim. I don't know why this rubbish is on the front page. |
The errors and contradictions in the Bible are legion. Plus the 'god' it talks about sounds like a man who has been given too much power and has gone corrupt because of it. Maybe because men created religion. |
