He is not covering the drains. In fact this man used sand to block the drainage at that warehouse junction, causing severe erosion problems. The other end of the road is in a pitiable state. I wish someone could post pictures of that gory sight. Yet, Rochas thinks the best he can do is to spend money to remove solid structures from the very good side of the road, just because he gave himself the mandate to wipe out Ohakim's memory from the state. Na waah! |
In a state with high unemployment rate, high poverty rate, terrible road networks, how can one rationalize the removal of the very solid structures used to demarcate the Orlu road and creating another design for the same purpose? It gets even more annoying when one remembers that that same road (around the Egbeada junction) is one of the most terrible spots in Owerri. What is wrong with our leaders? Why can't they use the same money to solve one of the numerous problems that plague the state? Misplacement of priorities is the hallmark of Nigerian leaders, but it has assumed an epidemic proportion in Imo state. I wonder what all the pastors that have been hanging around the governor are doing for him. Is he beyond advice? |
Biafra diplomat: I am from Imo state. With all sincerity of purpose, I will rate the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, 8/10. He has indeed shown what governance should be, since the days of Dee Sam Mbakwe, Imo has never had it so good, he has developed hitherto glorified villages like Okigwe and Orlu into emerging cities. Owerri the state capital(new Owerri axis) now looks very much like Abuja. Built world class schools across the state, gave free education. Built new roads across the state. So many projects are ongoing at the same time, and the most amazing thing is that he achieved all these in barely two years as governor! The PDP and god fathers he uprooted are fighting tooth and nail to discredit him but he is making life difficult for them by working hard and allowing Imolites be the judge. Posterity would beam him in good light. It's either you don't live in Imo state as you claimed or you are among those who have refused to use your God-given senses of reasoning, preferring instead to see the world through the governor's eyes and lies. Okorocha is the worst governor that has ruled Imo state. We all helped to throw out his predecessor but unfortunately, ihe na-ebe ka na-ebe. WHERE IS THE FREE EDUCATION YOU REFERRED TO? Have you gone into the single completed school he uses to deceive the gullible to ascertain what happens inside? What has become of the other so-called schools under construction? I went into one recently and the rails were trembling. I could not risk climbing the stairs for fear of being a victim of Rochas' trap. There is no real education going on in the state. Every one who knows what education should be will tell you that we are worse off now in that sector. So which sector is better under Rochas? Health? A thousand times no! Water? No! Roads? Terrible! Even the ones he built in this two years' regime are in worse conditions than the ones built by Udenwa. All his projects are whimsical and not people-oriented. Truth be told, we set Imo state back by decades the day we all trooped out to make Rochas our governor. |
Imo state Full adult Lived in Imo state almost all my life First tenure I RATE HIM 2/10 He's tall on words and short on action. Very fraudulent administration that robs Peter to pay Paul. He runs a confused system. Actually, he seems to enjoy the state of endless confusion as it helps him perfect his clandestine plans. |
Very enlightening post. I love Ebonyi state. May God give them the wisdom to elect a good leader that will deliver them from poverty. |
I agree with you. Nigerian women need to wake up but in this circumstance, we cannot cry more than the bereaved. The northern women must lead the war before others join them. If they are enjoying their religious bondage, we cannot do anything about it. |
I can see that his propaganda machinery is very effective. Be informed that most of those things you have heard about Imo state are fabrications. There is no meaningful education going on in the public schools. Just go into Government college or Ikenegbu girls and ask questions about the kind of learning that goes on there. There is no free education in IMSU or any other tertiary school in Imo state. Ask questions. Sschool uniforms imported with billions of Naira did not get to many schools in the state, and where they did get to, only a few students got them. That is why most schools in the state are still using their old uniforms. The stipend he is paying to school children is given to a few schools in the full glare of cameramen. Others only hear about it. There is nothing to celebrate. You have been deceived, but you are not to blame. It takes a strong perception to be able to see beyond the surface to the real face of the mask. Everything you have said confirms that you are not in the state. Most of us here have seen the true picture and have stopped clapping. |
Chuksemi, i live in Owerri and work in Orlu zone, so i can tell you without mincing words that your village is an isolated case. In the main, our governor thrives on deceit. His free education is fake; a complete farce. His roads are make-believe, the houses he has built are aimless; just good pipelines for draining money. He defrauds the workers, he defrauds the children(denying them education while celebrating free education)He defrauds contractors, even keke drivers. Don't judge from afar. Our home state is on fire under a smiling rogue. |
This mantra about infrastructural development under okorocha is very ridiculous. The only thing happening in Imo state is the same old story of power deceiving people. Udenwa deceived Imo state. Ohakim heightened the game but under okorocha, deceit has assumed a whole new smiling face. No governor has ever dealt with Imo people with so much treachery. His apologists must be told that they are joining a complete fraud to keep Imo state in bondage |
Why am i not bothered? It has been a one man show of shame since the self-styled rescue missionary came on board. It doesn't matter how many or how few his cabinet members are, he will still run the state like a private enterprise with the sole aim of maximizing profits for himself and his cronies. |
My dear, you are tormenting yourself with a negative and defeatist attitude. Do what you can to lose some weight but accept yourself the way you are. Again, i think you need to work on your mindset. Happiness does not depend on finding a man to love you. That is the kind of thinking that drives some ladies into crazy desperation, and guess what, unscrupulous men take advantage of them. If you learn to live a life that exudes love to people generally, you will find true love even when you are not searching desperately for it. Wake up and live your life joo. Look at the sunny side of being big and most importantly, teach yourself to be happy. |
It's unfortunate that rules are not respected in this country. What happened to the law against police road blocks that we all hailed a short while ago? In Imo state, for instance, that rule is as good as dead. Why can't the number one law enforcement agency in the country enforce their own internal laws? Was Nigeria created with a built-in mechanism to ensure it fails? Are we less human than other societies that have risen above some of these challenges? Na waa o! |
During the last workers day celebration in Owerri, one group added some real dramatics to their own march-past. They wore mourning clothes(all black). When they got before the governor, they all knelt down and assumed begging postures. Some actually wept before him and he understood their gestures. They were the Imo people that were thrown out of Abia state public service, whom the governor had promised reinstatement more than a year before. As expected, the governor went down to them and joined the drama. Some say he even wept with them and asked them to stand up. He later announced that they all had been absorbed into the state public service with a flat rate salary of twenty thousand Naira, pending the full regularization of their service. Two months on, these workers are still wearing mourning clothes as nothing has happened to change their story. |
We heard the disturbing story of a family that perished after eating African salad (ugba). That was at Ngor okpalla, about a month ago. Now another family from Orlu zone also ate the same African salad and got sick. They were lucky to have lost only one of their members, a youth corper to the incident. I wish to call opn the state government to investigate the cause of these deaths as a matter of life and death. Imo people need to know whether the ugba is toxic or the oil is adulterated. Is the akanwu poisonous or was it a case of microbial action? The government must not rest on its oars until Imo people are given an authentic report on these tragedies. |
It will be nice to hear from people in Lagos and other places where this policy was first put to test. I am apprehensive about these new monetary policies because our system is ill-equipped to sustain them. To think that ATM are still not reliable is a cause for concern. The masses will most likely become victims of this move, especially as very little is being done to enlighten them on this new move. It is so heart-breaking to know that many people who were duped by ATM have not been compensated till now. I just find it difficult to trust the banks and the government of this country with my meager resources. |
My dear friend, our clime has been overrun by cowards. We have been conquered from within. I feel the passion in your write-up, and believe me, many of us have felt this way before. However, the question is who will bell the cat? Who will be willing to rise above ethnic and religious interests to do what needs to be done? If someone starts a move, will others show solidarity or just betray him and accept a hand-out from the enemy? Here on Nairaland, have you taken time to analyse the pattern of comments by people who are supposed to belong to the enlightened group? It gives a good picture of the mindset of the average Nigerian. NIGERIA'S CASE IS REALLY COMPLICATED |
This is only one of the many noble projects abandoned by the present government. The truth is that those projects are superior to the cosmetic ones he has put in place to massage his ego and fool the gullible. Think of what would happen if Rochas had completed the ring road, flyovers, and health centre rehabilitation that Ohakim started. We have been so unlucky in Imo state. |
How can the blind have vision? The leadership of this country is blind both physically and spiritually, so i cannot take any vision of theirs seriously. All their so-called projections and visions are meant to keep us hoping and believing while they plunder the resources that should make the vision a reality. |
A DAGs who spoke to Trumpeta under anonymity disclosed that the authentic Allocation which come from Abuja does not reach the LGAs intact, as only a token is handed over to the SOLADs to run the LGAs. “The SOLADs themselves are grumbling, but they are afraid to speak out” the DAG said. Meanwhile, reports reaching our news desk indicate that the affected council officials met at their respective LGA headquarters to harmonize contract awards undertaken by the present administration since it came into power. The meeting tried to regularize contracts entered into by the state government on behalf of the councils and contractors. |
For Imo state, i have this to say- PROMISES---98 percent MEDIA HYPE---97 percent INFRASTRUCTURE---50 percent WATER ------------nil HEALTH------10 percent EDUCATION PROPAGANDA---90 percent EDUCATION PROPER------25 percent YOUTH EMPOWERMENT----5 Percent CONFUSION ENGINEERING---95 percent MANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE---10 percent FIGHTING CORRUPTION----2 PERCENT |
There is anxiety among the principal officers of the local governments in Imo state following an invitation to them by ICPC. A newspaper report says that the officers invited include the sole administrators, the past transition committee chairmen, DAGS and Treasurers. Trumpeta learnt that most of the contracts awarded in the LGAs were done without due process, while many do not exist at all in the records. Sources said that the DAGs, Treasurers and other top LGA officers were not carried along in the award of some of the fictitious contracts that cannot be traced any where. Therefore, the LGA officials were asked to go and produce tenders, quotations, evaluations and other important documents that back official contracts. Many of them expressed apprehension in producing such documents that never existed, saying that it would take a long time and procedures, including advertisements in Newspapers. They were given four days to produce the documents. It was learnt that the crux of the matter was how the LGA top officers would cover the irregularities trailing award of contracts in the LGAs, since the inception of the Gov Rochas Okorocha’s administration in 2011. Trumpeta learnt that most of the contracts awarded in the LGAs were done without due process, while many do not exist at all in the records. |
I think the main problem of the Nigerian worker is that we no longer have brave comrades who can wrestle with the powers that be and get workers' rights. Take a look at the states that implemented the 18,000 minimum wage. How many really did it? What have the labour leaders done? Just take a bribe and damn the workers. It should not matter to the workers whether it is the state or federal government that fixes salaries IF WE ARE SURE OUR TRUSTED LABOUR LEADERS WILL NOT BETRAY OUR CAUSE ON SIGHTING APPETIZING,RED PORRIDGE. PITY |
That's the point. They should tell us all the possible side effects before we all line up to receive the tablets lest we become zombies controlled by some dumb machines. |
O dikwa egwu o. Sometimes technology can be creepy. This is good news but also very scary. |
SHAME ON THE TWO MEN WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO REAP WHERE THEY DID NOT SOW. If anyone wants to be honoured like the late Ikemba, he should do what Ikemba did and Ndigbo will recognize them as such. All i see are two megalomaniacs who started struggling for this title even before the man was laid to rest. Another shame! |
It appears you are not resident in Imo state. The pictures do not even show a tenth of the mess that Rochas has turned Owerri and Imo state into. You did not capture the refuse mountains that litter the entire city, the massive floods caused by defective drainage systems, abandoned roads, gates and other projects. But this is not the real damage. Every single system in the state has been destroyed from the education sector to health , water supply, local govt, transport, just name it. The destruction extends to the most remote villages which the governor has turned into battlefields with his so-called community government council. This so-called rescue mission is just a complete disaster. |
Rossikk, you have hit the nail right on the head. These foreign religions are the modern chains that have proved to be more effective than the physical chains used on our forefathers. We need a leader like Mahatma Ghandi who will refuse to wear suit or shirt, refuse to speak English or French, refuse to visit the mosque or the church, but insist on being African to the core. As ordinary people, even if you take such a stance, it will not make any impact on the society. A recognized leader on the other hand, will make much impact if he understands what is at stake and takes the right stance. That is why i bleed inside when i see the governor of my state giving out all reasonable contracts to hungry white men instead of indigenous contractors(whom he dupes and treats like trash) who have shown competence in such areas. This same man has mandated all workers in the state to wear suit to work. This is pure insanity and a shameful show of inferiority. In Imo state, our people who work in Roche company and other such companies are treated like slaves while their white counterparts are treated like kings. They have protested but nothing has been done to redress the gross injustice just because the phobia for white men is still deeply entrenched in our leaders. Any way, i am proud to be a black person. I will not trade places with people who see nothing wrong in preying on fellow human beings. Until our leaders learn that their role is to lead us out of slavery into the land of liberty, i will remain proud of my ancestry. |
Abagworo, I am now sure that you are either a stranger to Imo state or just doing your bit to please your master. How can you discredit all the governors that were here before the present one in such a manner? WHAT WE HAVE NOW IS BEST DESCRIBED AS A COSMETIC GOVERNOR WHO HAS DESTROYED MORE THAN HE HAS BUILT. Ohakim built schools blocks in many local government areas. Udenwa built some lasting legacies that we all can see today. Ohakim refurbished and equipped 27 health centres in the state with big lister generators, ambulances and other major medical facilities. Ohakim built many of the roads in New Owerri, and started the process of beautifying the Concoed Boulevard you mentioned. He actually kept Imo clean and green unlike what Rochas has turned it to( A big refuse dump). You even dared to take a sweeping swipe at Dee Sam Mbakwe the legendary Igbo leader, who is one of the predecessors of Rochas. Imo people know who their REAL leaders are and i tell you that Rochas is too vacuous to be a real leader of Imo people. |
Abians will do well to find credible people as leaders. They should stop wishing for Okorocha as governor because they will begin to cry within the first month he mounts the saddle. ROCHAS CANNOT EVEN SELL APC in Imo state. T. A Orji may not be performing wonders but at least he is not destroying the systems he met like Okorocha is doing in Imo. In the final analysis, Orji may be a better devil than our smooth talking governor. |
Call it what you like, my dear Abagworo, but the truth must be told. Imo people will know when our governor starts to get it right. Right now, all he does is play to the gallery and the people are getting tired of his empty words and rudderless leadership. One gigantic school in the centre of Owerri will not blindfold those of us who live and work in the state from seeing the face behind the mask. |
I wonder whether any governor in this country is genuinely interested in quality education. Amaechi strikes me as one who should easily carry the day in this matter, but what does he do to ensure that the structures he put in place are really being used to offer qualitative education to these children? Again Rivers state is one of those places where miracle centres are known to thrive. Is the government doing anything about it? I will appreciate some enlightenment on these issues from residents of River's State. |
