CultureRe: Revitalization Of The Igbo Language by Onyegecha(op): 8:19pm On May 04, 2013
I agree that Igbo language should be given prominence in all possible avenues including DSTV. OUR LANGUAGE DESERVES MORE THAN A CURSORY MENTION. Surprisingly, even the state-owned media outfits have shown remarkable apathy towards the promotion of Igbo language. What does it tyake to allot eighty percent of airtime to Igbo program? Just a policy statement.

Again, i believe there should be a concerted effort by Igbo leaders to float contests to promote reading, writing and performance in Igbo language.
PoliticsRe: How Is Your State Governor Fighting Corruption? by Onyegecha(f): 6:09pm On May 03, 2013
I am an Imolite. My state governor is corruption's mate and best paddy. Their union was forged in the underworld. How can he raise a finger against his closest friend?
CultureRe: Revitalization Of The Igbo Language by Onyegecha(op): 6:48am On May 03, 2013
Nwanne m, kwusie ya ike. DSTV and other such outfits should be told! Igbo people also need to be galvanized to take such an action. I wish we could get a few wealthy Igbo people to champion the cause and sponsor the campaigns to get Igbo language a slot. I must commend Peter Obi for his strides in Anambra state. For me he comes closest to being the true leader of Ndigbo, though there are still many more things left undone in that area . I urge other political leaders to follow his good example.

Please i will like to know which of the five core Eastern states is doing something concrete about the resuscitation of the Igbo language. There's been a lot of political grandstanding on the matter, but please, kindly volunteer information on what you know is being done by any of the state governors or legislators on this very vital issue. Cheers

I get it now. You merely visit the state so it is understandable that you will not be able to appreciate the REAL situation. It is easy to deceive people who rely on television shows to access the performance of our sweet-talking and ace actor governor. Cheers, my brother. Keep believing. After all, the new religion has made believing blindly a virtue.

Abagworo:

There's more to it than what you think. But Dede I want to ask you a sincere question as an elder from Imo State. What has Rochas failed to do as a Governor that any other Governor in the history of Nigeria has done? Just give me a sincere answer without allegations.

Abagworo, i challenge you, instead, to show me one single system that Rochas has improved since he took over the administration. Here's what we have on ground-

Health- He ha demobilized all the health facilities he met on ground, putting that sector in disarray.

Education- He has made the standard of education to nose-dive and kiss the dust while mouthing free education. Meanwhile people are paying more now than before for a service that is hardly rendered to Imo youths. SUBEB has been abandoned because its structure did not allow Rochas to wreck it like the other outfits. Imo children are now strangers in their own land as IMSU has denied them admission on the orders of the "commander of free education".
For him one bogus school structure in the centre of the city translates into transformation of Imo schools.

Transport--Nothing new has happened to suggest rescue, EXCEPT THE REPAINTING OF OHAKIM'S BUSES to carry rescue mission slogans and colour. We are still at the mercy of keke operators. ITC is comatose. Workers are lamenting. They regret the change in government.

Hospitality--Rochas has strangulated Concord hotel while his sweet mouth says the hotel has been rescued. A visit will convince any doubter

Industrialization--Zero level

Employment---Zero level. In fact Rochas has sacked so many thousands of Imolites. People keep referring to the 10,000 job abomination, but that was just the beginning for the man. Sometimes i wonder whether he is on a revenge mission over an unnamed offence the people of Imo state committed against him.

Civil Service---No improvement whatsoever, except decreeing a change of dress code that is not based on any principle. Corruption is still waxing strong and those connected to the government get their due while others are left out. This government is highly inefficient in managing the civil service. Civil service is based on due process while this government is known for disregard for due process, so you can imagine the rest.

Infrastructure--- He specializes in building big structures that mean nothing to the people.
Bongo square, Heroes square, Freedom square, Government house chapel, centenary tower, roundabouts without roads, roads with red mud and a sprinkling of asphalt.

Local Government system--- Comatose

Community Government Council---Dead on arrival. ALL the communities in the state are enmeshed in confusion because even the proponent of this bizarre system has no idea on how it should run.

Water supply---Big Zero. No water from the public taps since he took office.
Retirees--- Their condition is worse under the rescue mission than ever before.

Privatization of para-statals without due process and sacking the workers is a crime he must be ready to answer to. Meanwhile not one of these privatized outfits is functioning well now. So tell me, which system ha Rochas improved?

I wish him quick recovery, but above all, i wish him soberness and a presence of mind that will enable him to get a grip of the meaning of governance. For now, he sees it as only an avenue to harvest praise from people by saying what he knows they will like to hear.

berem: If you were in his shoes, wouldn't you do the same? Before you hit your sledge hammar on him, you condemn other government officials who have being going abroad for medical trip.stop being a hypocrite! keep hating while Rochas puts smile on the faces of ndi Imo. you better mind your business and focus on your incompetent governor!
On whose face exactly has he put these smiles? Biko ka anyi nu ihe. Let him keep globe-trotting while the state is burning. Ask him where the common man can get his own major injuries treated when he has made sure by his gross maladministration, that not one single hospital that he inherited is functional. Ojionuegbuoji. FamilyRe: Why Do Men Think Women's Lives Cannot Go On Without Marriage? by Onyegecha(f): 7:38am On Apr 22, 2013
That is a lie. The pressure is built into them by the menfolk through the socialization techniques they carefully created to keep women's psyche tied to men. I am glad some women are waking up to reality. Yes, if it's not working, quit. If you don't find someone you are very very very comfortable with, don't get into marriage. Do not marry for better or for worse. The moment love leaves the marriage, the woman should be wise enough to follow suit.

Dis Guy: Ask the WOMEN THEMSELVES, the pressure to get married comes mostly from the womenfolks in the same society your complaining about wink

You are wrong, as usual. There is nothing like 'the price of 50kg is x or y'. It depends on quality and type. And for your garri price, white garri has never been the same price as yellow garri which is not also same as the price of Ijebu garri.

You are just caught up in negativity, trying very hard to downplay any and every positive news coming out of Nigeria while emphasizing the negative ones. I know GEJ's success threatens people like you and your political association, but hey, it benefits Nigerians which is what really matters.

It is a big deal that we are on a single digit inflation rate. It is a big deal that we are still improving. It is also a big deal that we have positive economic indices everywhere against the cry by Lie Mohammed that the economy is on the verge of collapse.

This whole thing does not make sense. We must learn to respect the truth if we want to go forward in this country. From which market was this survey conducted? Certainly not the same market the masses are using. There should be a limit to official deceit but this country doesn't seem to have any. Inflation rate in Nigeria has never been on the decline but it went even higher after the floods of last year. Any statistics contrary to this fact is arrant nonsense.

The investing community is watching. The global watchers are on the lookout. Things are looking good on the economic side of things. These indices that we are seeing can only come from an environment of fiscal discipline, mature budgeting system and successful FG policies. They can never come from a 'corrupt, clueless and incompetent' leadership as ACN people want us to believe GEJ's team to be.

The figures are coming out and they are running around the place telling us the price of 'rice' as if the price of 'Abakaliki rice' or 'elephant rice' has always been same as the price of 'mama gold'

Losing an only eye is sad
The lone star in someone's night
Failing to give the needed light
Surely can make a fellow mad

But it's not the worst tragedy

When one is poor, life is unkind
Rolling in lack, fighting the odds
Looking for luck, jostling with gods
A tortured heart, a burdened mind

But it's not the worst tragedy

Losing self to the drifting crowd
Breaking ties with the inner light
Using the vogue to measure right
Caging soul, free thoughts disallowed

That is indeed a tragedy

EducationCalling For A State Of Emergency In Our Education Sector. by Onyegecha(op): 8:56pm On Apr 17, 2013
Please, i want the powers that be in this ailing country to come down from their high horses and face reality. We have lost our youth and it's time to get serious and rescue what we can. A governor decided to conduct a test for the best performing pupils in the First School Leaving Certificate in his state?(Akwa Ibom). He was shocked to discover that out of the best pupils selected from all the public schools in the state, nine could not write their names. Among those who could write their names, majority did not score up to 5 percent in the test. We know it is the same everywhere in this nation, yet we keep deceiving ourselves.

Since this year's WASC exam started, i have seen expo being advertised on this site. I am pained. Where are the people that are supposed to lead this nation? Are not aware of what is happening and the implications of this trend on our development? Why is this conspiracy of silence allowed to continue? Haba! Too bad.

Iwould also say avoid obscurity in your poems because it does nobody any good. A poem with a simple diction is not inferior to one with knotted words as long as it is embellished with appropriate poetic devices. cheers

I sincerely hope the MASSOB leader did not include Rev. KING in this statement because that would be a tragedy. It would show that the man needs a psychiatric treatment. No one that wants to be taken seriously as a leader will be advocating for the release of a confirmed murderer. Uwazuruike should put his acts together and stop stumbling into one blunder after another. This is not the stuff Igbo people are made of.

Are serious? How can you be talking of free education when there is no education going on in the state? Have you been to ANY public school recently? Please get serious.

The man seems to be on a revenge mission under the guise of rescue. HE HAS INITIATED MANY PROJECTS BUT NOT ONE OF THEM HAS GENUINE INTENTIONS. Go to ICAPS right now and see things for yourself. freechat: In case you didn't know, UBE Act 2004 only guarantees free and compulsory PRIMARY education. But in Imo, Okorocha has taken it further to SECONDARY and TERTIARY levels.
Are you saying what you know to be true or just re-echoing a political propaganda that is sour to the ear? Please there is no real education going on in Imo State public schools right now. Nothing has really changed, except for the worse. I make bold to say that the quality of instruction in the public schools is at its lowest point now. Are you aware that virtually all the pupils and students in these schools are yet to be given any books for their class work. Teachers don't even have the courage to ask them to buy any book because the government says it is an abomination to do so, yet, they have failed to go beyond vain promises.

This administration is playing with the future of our children and posterity will judge them.

As for the tertiary education abracadabra, everyone knows that free education at the tertiary level only exists in the books of the politicians who came up with the plot to keep the polity in confusion until the rescuers are through with their task of rescuing their pockets at the expense of Imo people.

Lord Naya, i will not ask you to shut up your clean mouth because i don't believe in incivility of any kind. Rochas is my governor and he needs to get his acts together NOW. Every facade fades and his own is not an exception. Let him start acting like someone that the people reposed confidence on and made him their leader against all odds. I still challenge you to show me one system that Rochas has improved. Walk into any public school in Imo state, you will not want your child to be there.
