No doubt you might just be an exception, but you can't speak for the countless other gold-diggers out there.

I hope I marry right, but all the same, I will still keep a pre-nupt just in case.
If you come up to a woman with genuine qualities as a wife with a pre-nupt, it shows you have no trust in her and are basically caller a gold digger.
Atimes, YEAH! You and I both know that love is way over-rated.
Ha ha, you obviously don't know me very well. Just call me Aphrodite.
Thats because like everything in life, nothing is certain so a pre-nupt is like insurance against uncertainty. Is she don't do nothing, aint going to be nothing. you dig.
So you have it instilled in your mind that a woman only purpose of marriage is to get in, get money, and get out.

@okija, Clearly, our society won't make it if men don't marry and don't have children, prenuptials have their limits. They work reasonably well in protecting assets from spouses, but mostly don't when it comes to child support and custody.
May i ask you why you are so strongly set on having a marriage that will end in divorce and the woman getting half?

It is very easy to say that marriage has its good and bad but no one really understands how horrible the bad is. You just have to experience it. By the way, a married man shouldn't go anywhere if the wife doesn't support the decision.
I agree.

If you find it so noble, why don't you answer this,

I appreciate these people alot. But it is just that how do you expect me to hold it down at home while you are out fighting some war? how do you expect me to sleep at night when all im thinking about is that i might wake up to be surprised with news that my husband was killed by a suicidal bomber? How do you expect me to let go of him when he is about to deport into a foreign country? How do you expect me to tell the kids that daddy will come home safe and sound when i know there is a possibility he might not??

Im sorry but i view it as my husband choosing his country over his family.

Im appreciate the men and women who help protect my country but i just couldn't imagine knowing my husband is out there fighting some war. I mean you guys talk of sacrifice but do really know what that means??

One of my uncles, then a Major, had to go to Liberia for 3yrs with ECOMOG shortly after his first kid was concieved. The poor boy didnt know his own father until he was 4 but they all survived and are living happily today with 5 kids.

It all depends on if the woman is willing to make some sacrifice to allow her husband fulfill his dream.
Why is the woman always the one who has to sacrifice?? i mean i have no problem in sacrificing some things but it seems that the woman mostly gets the bad end of the rope.

It's not even the fact that the person could die

Have you seen how mentally damaged some of these people are? Nightmares? PTS? It's so depressing

and what do they have to show for all that? A stupid purple heart badge.

Come to the city and see this "veterans" begging around with their badges and half their limbs blown off.

Dont know how anyone would willingly put themselves in that mess

Plenty of rednecks that can take my dude's place.
1. so true. Come down here, and they keep the homeless veterans in this low quality shelter.

2. You got that right. there is other more willing people to go into service.

If my husband wanting to join in on the war on terror, then i would cry from the moment he let it slip out of his tongue. I know too many people who came back from war hurt physically, emotionally, and mentally. I mean how could he do that such a thing to me? leave me at home worrying about him day and night. wondering that the next morning i might get news that he was hurt, captured, or killed!! I wouldn't be able to hold it down on my own knowing that my husband is out there doing God knows what. So if he wanted to go to war, i would take it as, he either has to choose his family, or his country.

Marriage is about give and take. You should be able to tolerate his absence for just 3 years. undecided
To me it sounds like the woman is giving while the man is taking.

Pataki:
Am always laughing whenever I read it from you. grin cheesy grin
Yeah that is what my father use to say when he was through talking to us.

Hannibal:
What is selfish in this arrangement.
The man wants to better himself in the job market and cater for his family. . . . . .and y'all are complaining.
Would u feel the same way if he was going to Prison?? tongue
We are not complaining. We are just concerned. three years is a LONG TIME. no matter how much you try and sugar coat it. By leaving your family behind, you are missing out on all your child's stepping stone experiences. Experiences you won't be able to make up. And your marriage will be different. I mean you guys are having to ordeal a long distance relationship.

Hannibal:
It seems u are forgetting the fact that his degree would lead to a good job that would feed wives n kids.
Why are women not as far-sighted as men??
But it sounds kind of selfish to me. Yes in the long run, it might work out, but what about the present?? Are you willing to kiss your child goodbye as they cry merciless for you to stay?? Are you willing to watch your wife shed tears because it would be a while before you meet again??

I have learnt a lot about life from playing that board game since my early teenage years. wink
Let me guess, you learned money management from playing Texas Hold'em.

The lady doesnt seem to mind at all!! For me now waaaayyy! just imagine all those stunning Ukrainian women!!

Not just that I would be lonely. There are four kids in this marriage.  sad
Oka now that there are kids involved, it is truly all or nothing. I mean can any man really stand not seeing his own flesh and blood for months at a time? And imagine how heartbroken they would be when we drop him off at the airport. I couldn't deal. It would be an emotional episode for us all. I would sacrifice my job and ALL of us are going to go where ever you go. We are a family and that is how things should be. I mean I couldn't imagine leaving home for three years and missing all the stepping stone times my children have. It just wouldn't work. And my grades would be slipping cause all i would do is think about what my family is doing right now.

its either we all go together or nothing else, simple
I second. I mean three years is a LONG TIME. you guys are trying to sugar coat it and say "Oh three years will be over before you know it." Uhmm, no it won't. Yeah there will be holidays, but i can't imagine seeing him come home for a few days then watch him leave soon after. That would just break my heart.

OMG! I just laid out what I would do.

I would much rather satisfy three years of her accomplishing her goals, than 70 years of hearing her whine that I blocked the path to her achievement.
If you say so acid water. Me i would be willing to sacrifice my job and move with him. I'm sure there would be someone willing to hire me. I just couldn't imagine waking up months at a time to no one lying beside me. Or have to eat dinner on my own. it just wouldn't work out for me. I would trust he would be good but it is just not the same.

See insecurities on display tongue .

If my wife wants to move abroad to study and I trust her, she can go but has to make sure she visits, or lets me visit when I want during her three-year program o. kiss
Whatever. you know good and well you wouldn't be that supportive of the idea.

Yeah I feel you, of course majority o guys will go for the glammed up girl, not every girl has natural beauty, i was just totally against your previous statement 'Any guy that says he rather see his woman natural is a bold face liar.'   Sounded like you were generalizing. Just wanted to clear things up. tongue
Yeah i was. and i take that back but im taking back that alot of guys will pass by the girl who feels she is beautiful natural to the chic with her make up on right, hair permed, and glammed from head to toe.
Romance › Re: Made Up Or Natural? by onyinye2(f): 8:08pm On Jul 28, 2008
Oka i understand where yal is coming from. yeah there are times you might catch me natural walking downtown in the bookstore or on the beach. Im not saying that there is no such thing as natural beauty but, I just know that guys tend to go towards the chic who is glammed up. It is just how things work. There is some guys who like that natural thing but most want a chic who is glammed up.
