Why this thread pains the same Nigerians who have corned the country's wealth and excluded the Igbo is still a mystery to me.

A typical Nigerian should be happy by saying, at least they won't be waiting on the FG to develop the region the way the north is being developed. What is the fuss if Igbo resort to using community help to raise funds needed for it's development that was denied by the FG?
PoliticsRe: 2023: Why North Will Give Amaechi Ticket To Settle Igbo Agitation by OreMI22: 8:55pm On Jun 30, 2020
IkwerrePikin:
Let me tell you, in Nigeria politics tribe or ethnicity is not always considered by political parties if it would not benefit them!

There is a clamor for Southern/Igbo presidency, but an Igbo presidential candidate irrespective of the political part in today’s Nigeria with series of Biafran threat to break out of Nigeria, it would be difficult for Nigerians to support an Igbo man, because tomorrow another region will come with it’s own threat to break out if not given the presidential ticket.

Why North Will Choose Amaechi:

With the clamor for Igbo/Southern presidency, the north may consider to support Rotimi Amaechi whom they trust more from the Ikwerre ethnic group in Rivers state who are more pro Nigeria than the Igbos even though the Ikwerre people have made it clear right from time that they are not Igbos but rather Ikwerre who trace their ancestors to the Great Benin Kingdom (Oba of Benin confirmed this on his visit to PH, R/S), though some Igbo people have always confronted the Ikwerres claiming they are igbos due to the similarities in names and language with the Ikwerre people.

1. Rotimi Amaechi who have claimed in several occasions to be an Igbo man is so loved by Buhari and trusted to the point of appointing him minister In one of the biggest ministry twice even with the confrontation from the senate and other groups.

2. Rotimi Amaechi who is more pro Nigeria is seen as an Igbo man by the Igbos including the popular IPOB group, with this if he is supported by the North with his Igbo wife from Abia state, Rotimi Amaechi will be able to win majority votes from the South East hereby getting APC into the South East. Don’t forget that with Rotimi Amaechi and his yoruba-igbo name signifies a Southern Unity and he is likely to win majority vote from the South East, South South and also from the South West as he would be more accepted and trusted than an Igbo candidate from South East due to the Biafra threat to Nigeria today.

3. Rotimi Amaechi has a great record and experience as former Speaker, Governor, Chairman Nigerian governors forum, Minister twice with great record of managing the campaign train as director general that brought the opposition party Apc to power.

4. If Apc wants to retain power as it moves to the Southern part, it must present a candidate that would be accepted across the South, with a VP from the North with help from Buhari and top Northern politicans Apc will be able to win 2023 presidency.

5. With power moving to the South, there is no APC politician from the South than can stand Rotimi Amaechi, in terms of popularity and with the number of political positions and experience Amaechi has achieved over the years. Rotimi Amaechi is popularly know to have never lost a political battle before in his political carrier.

Some igbos man say he is Ikwerre and not Igbo and can never claim Igbo just because he wants to be president so they will not support him, but let me tell you majority of Igbos out there with that name “Amaechi” on a campaign postal will gladly support him more than an Atiku or anyone else who is also not Igbo.

I see Amaechi 2023...Who do you see and why??
Everything depends on Amaechi.
If Amaechi somehow can make all those videos where he vehemently said he was not Igbo to disappear, then it may work.

I doubt those videos will disappear because they will be the PERFECT video for Amaechi's northern opponent to use in convincing igbos that its better to trust a good friend than a brother who hates you.

Ceegar01:
WORK ADVANCES AT THE NNEWI WATER SCHEME PROJECT.
..... As Hon Melie Onyejepu assures Anambra Residents of Portable Water Soon.
A visit to the Anambra State water cooperation Nnewi unit, will convince even the doubting Thomases that the Gov Willie Obiano's led State Government is truly matching their words with visible actions with the construction of new model urban water project that is aimed at changing the believe that potable water supply is no longer possible.
The speed and quality of works at the water board Nnewi unit by the construction company handling the project, ATLANTIC DRILLING FLUIDS SERVICES LTD, is not only encouraging but it shows that the State Government really meant business.
Those that visited the site in April 2020, won't be able to believe their eyes with the rate of infrastructures that are in place now at the same Site. The site engineer of the construction firm wasn't even happy with their own pace of works, according to him, the constant rain have forced them to slow down their pace. He said, that since the State Government has fully mobilized them, that they have no reason whatsoever to delay the project, if not for the rain.
He added that they have refurbished the old overhead tank, and that it's ready for use now. He also said that they have put in place two surface tanks and are almost done with the drilling and fixing of the borehole.
Recall that the Anambra State Government commensed state-wide construction of new model urban water projects to phase out individual borehole system that littered all over the State.
The special Adviser to Gov Willie Obiano on Budget, Efficiency/AIRS, Hon Melie Onyejepu who was recently appointed the General Manager of Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement Board, had said during a visit to the Site in April,2020, that the project which was divided into two phases, had already started in Nnewi at its abandoned water project located at old Nnewi Onitsha road Amuko.
According to Onyejepu, the pilot scheme which was the first phase, would gulp $1million and would on completion distribute potable water within the area the project was sited and would later go round the whole Nnewi community when the second phase was completed.
He said that the project was divided into engineering, house enumeration, metering and billing and appealed to Nnewi residents to cooperate with the enumerators to make their job easy.
He noted that the Anambra State Government's collaboration with the foreign donors was designed that the State would pay a counterpart funding of between N50 million and N100 million. He noted that the project was being executed with quality assurance.
It's very important to note that all the Previous Governments in the State did not invest in water and people began to sink boreholes here and there, forgetting that the gains of public water supply far outweighed the individual borehole projects, because apart from the high cost in maintaining the private water boreholes, ecological problems it generated posed a threat to the residents.
Provision of water is a major democracy dividend and Anambra State Government under Gov Willie Obiano is working on various water projects to ensure provision of potable water.
His Excellence Governor Willie Obiano has been working with donor agencies like World Bank and ADB for new urban water model.
The construction firm lauded Hon Melie Onyejepu for making sure that the host Community is giving them all the necessary support, in terms of security and other logistics that has been serving as a motivating factor to their staffs, which in the other hand has also enabled them to put in their best.

Oga, without sounding immodest, Part of the reason why people often think those that went abroad cannot reason objectively is because of people like you.

You truly want that type of housing in Nigeria? Just because you saw in in China, USA or Germany, then suddenly Anambra state must and can build those types of houses for it's villagers?
Have you asked yourself why even South Africa that is light years ahead of Nigeria in technology and power generation does not have those types of mass housing for their people?

When some of you suggest technically impossible things with total disregard for our GDP, technology and almost ZERO prospect of finding funding even if it's from World bank or UN HABITAT for humanity. I feel like extending the same ironical suggestion by asking you why your father simply can't set up a cement factory or refinery like Dangote did. Smart Urban or rural planning, to do more with less land, not waste alll our land.
Low density and high density neighborhoods serve different cadres of people who are important for a good society to function properly. If all wealthy Anambra people have to live in Enugu or Asaba because we don't have Independence layout style areas in Awka and Onitsha, then it's equally a tragedy. I totally agree that more new estates with 4 - 5 storey buildings need to be opened. More importantly around Onitsha and Nnewi. If you followed the drone overview of Oba, you will find that we have a sizeable amount of such estates. We need to have one or two new layouts in Awka for high density areas.

But, all new estates should not be 4 - 5 storey hoods. There has to be a good balance in everything to cater for different cadres of important people in the society.

U and I know Obiano has run out of time to complete that airport.
Even if the entire airport will not be completed under Obiano, he could set up a concrete plan for the airport and airport city to be completed according to the original vision.

Sam Mbakwe started Owerri airport. He knew very well that he could never complete it. But he developed a clear plan in phases to enable the succeeding administrations complete it without sacrificing their own programs.

Another important project is the airport city project. Now we know that waiting for the airport to be completed before the airport city is planned and developed will simply result in the rise of concrete of slums in that area by the time the airport is completed.

Therefore, nothing stops the state government NOW to grade the streets/roads in the airport city area, to properly mark out the plots and allow private sector to develop the place now as the airport itself is being built. The reason why most Nigerian cities look like slums, except Abuja and perhaps in the future Abakaliki, is that they are NEVER planned before the buildings go up.

Now is the opportunity to plan the airport city and demarcate the future roads & streets by simply grading (NOT TAR) the roads. So that the plots are well aligned in a straight line and the roads are well interconnected with many roundabouts like modern airport cities, before people build up the area the way villages are developed haphazardly.

Igbos should tow the Chinese method. Concentrate in building and improving your land. In the end, those wicked people with their tales of calumny will be baseless if you succeed.

My fear is that many Igbos are so gullible to believe all they see on Nigerian TV and newspapers. Dr. Fred Yonov Agah, a Christian Minority from Benue for the position of Director General of World Trade Organisation to pave way for Alhaji Abdulhameed Mamdouh, a Muslim from the Arab republic of Egypt.

Although Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was nominated to replace Dr. Amb. Fred Agah, the nomination was late as it contravenes rule 16 of the Rules of the Procedure of Executive Ministerial Committee, since nomination for candidates for DG WTO closed on 30th November, 2019. The announcement of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is to give Igbos a fake orgasm of what will not materialise since the appointment contravene the law abinitio.

Similar scenario played out between 1983 and 1985, Peter Onu, a Christian Igbo from Nigeria was Acting Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU). At the 1985 Summit in Addis Ababa, statesmen like Julius Nyerere, President of Tanzania, lobbied for his election as substantive Secretary-General. However, Nigeria under General Mohammadu Buhari voted Alhaji Ide Oumarou, Niger republic the country that buhari spend most of his weekend with instead of Mr. Peter Onu.
As soon as I read the fake news of Buhari nominating Okonjo Iweala, I laughed so hard. Because I knew the Almajirai president would do no such thing for a non-fulani Muslim.
It was beyond him to see Nigeria as a country of diverse people. Everyone representing Nigeria had to be a Fulani Muslim. But, even that will pass away soon.
PropertiesRe: Sending Money Back Home For A Project: What Has Been Your Experience? by OreMI22: 10:52pm On Jun 05, 2020
Josnac:
Good day Nairalanders.

To start, something happened some days ago, but before I go into it, let me say something most of us might have heard, like me.

Well, growing up in a typical Nigerian city (Aba) back in the days..I was privileged to listen to discussions or conversations about how someone based abroad (Ala-bekee) used to send in money for a building project in the village/city as the case may be; then after some years or over the duration of some months, would return to meet a practically empty plot of land. in some cases, the so-called land would even be nonexistent.

The type of wahala issues like this cause eh, to those who can bear it, they can simply let go since the culprits in most cases are always blood relatives/siblings/uncle's/in-laws etc.

In my line of work I've equally bumped into a couple of such projects..the most recent one being the reason for this thread.

So, some days ago, I was contacted to evaluate a building project; a supposed one storey building comprising of 4x3-bedroom flats. However, only the front flat had been done up to "their" supposed deck beam level.
The owner of this project is based in Philadelphia, U.S.A and is a woman well over the late 60's.
The project supervisor/executioner is an in-law (I think he married one of the woman's daughters based on the information I received)..

Now, the instruction was simple: "Build this house while I send in the funds, at completion you and your family would take one flat and stay as caretakers of the property".

In all honesty, what I saw at the site left me bewildered and I was just wondering the "version" of wickedness at work in the so-called in-law.. seriously!!

By the building regulation standards, a standard building height ought to be at least 3metres. To achieve this during construction (block work stage), we do what I called "4-5-1-3" for bungalow buildings and "4-5-1-2" for lower levels of multi-storey buildings above the D.P.C.
Breakdown:
Above the DPC.
4: the first 4-courses of block work leading up to the window sill.
5: the next 5courses of block works above the window sill leading up to the lintel.
1: the lintel, always having a depth of 225mm (9inches) which is the depth of all block sizes.
3: the final 3-course of block work above the lintel use to level up in readiness for roof work. In multi-storey buildings, this last 3-courses is replaced by 2-courses with the final block removed and a deck beam introduced in its stead.

For the structure under review, what I met was more like a "3-4-1-3" (as shown in the picture) kind of formation following the same format as explained above. Now me sef wey dey think say I short, I still dey bend to enter one of the rooms because the door opening will always hit my forehead, yes, that's how bad it was!
And this is supposed to be a storey building!!

Next, I equally noticed that the plinth beams (mostly referred to as "chaining" at the DPC level), were without stirrups; yes, more like the 3-12mm used were just laid round the areas they thought necessary with over-site concrete (German floor) laid directly on them. Wow! we too Sabi for this country!!!

Well, luckily for this woman in question, she happened to have returned during one of the ceremonies the Igbere people of Abia State is known for, The Igbotonma ceremony, as she was a participant in the 2017 edition, thereafter she was taken to see her project; rooms were too small, kitchen was too small, etc..the house just looked so unplanned. She was heartbroken thus ordered the job to be stopped.

Please our brothers/sisters in the obodo oyibo (abroad) try as much as possible to engage professionals to do these things for you and while at it, endeavour to come in at least once to see the project by yourself and note any peculiar landmarks or something you can use to identify your site from a photograph, before them go begin send photos of Mr Okonkwo's site go give Mr Clinton. Insist on photo updates every 2-days, if not daily or at worst every 3-days..these stories are painful and they don't just touch the heart, the touch the spinal cord too.

Well, for this particular project, discussions are ongoing and a redesign is on the way..by God's grace a follow up thread will be available to show the updates and progress made when the job starts.

Have you experienced anything like this before??
Talk to us so that others can learn.

Best wishes,
Josnac.

cc: Lawyer
The fleecing of relatives abroad is such a wicked phenomenon among our people. If they buy land for N2 million, they will charge you N8 million naira for it.
If you send them money to build a house for you, they will use your money to build their own house.

It is so sad, but it has also deprived Nigeria A LOT of investment because our people rarely invest in Nigeria until they are able to supervise it.

Personally, I would advise people to simply save their money abroad until they are able to comeback and build. Going through relatives is just setting yourself up for heartbreak.

You could still have praised the man without bringing "Igbos" into your sentence!
This obsession with Igbos is really a sickness. BTW, Igbos are like every other human group on earth. They DO NOT behave in a single way or agree to a single course of action the way you might think.

IBB's statement is deep and generally reflects on the views of northern officers!

If you imagine that Babangida actually had Yoruba officers who were his superiors and Yoruba soldiers among those he commanded, it will reveal the deep contempt northern officers had for Yoruba officers.

Almost the type of contempt the Chief Priests had for Judas when he returned the 30 pieces of silver and wanted to be treated decently.
