A big bros arranged a small contract for me to supply and install telecommunications and electrical across the country for his coy. My experience with those guys called area boys made me hate this country for the first time. I know they exist but never had any encounter of this magnitude with them.

Though Baba (the truck driver I hired) to convey those equipment to Alaba, Ladipo, Ajah, Lagos Island etc forewarned me of the likely scenario, I didnt listen coz I never factored all that before bidding for the contract. I simply told Baba to go that nothing will happen, after all the goods they are carrying is nothing illegal. 30 minutes after I let them go, I received a call from Baba, saying; Oga dem don catch us oooo. Who i asked. "Area boys" at Alaba he replied. I quickly drove down to the scene. Men you need to see all kinds of evil faces and bodies, some were marked with bottles and all kinds of weapon. They are all grown ups. I mean married men and young boys in their teens, twenties ,thirties, forties and even fifties.

At the scene, they threatened to beat us up and destroy all the goods. Some even threatened to set the vehicle ablaze. Three meters away from the scene is some group of police men collecting tolls, I thought they will come to help instead one of them came to tell us to tell us to sort ourselves out fast or else they will re-arrest the truck. Wahala dey ooo.

We were able to sort them with the police. Subsequently, I had to pay Baba extra with an escort to the convey those equipment to different destinations in Lagos and across the country. Same shit reapeated itself again in Ibadan.

After all the delivery across the country, I sat Baba down to ask him how they have been surviving with all these kind of danger and he said:

Na only North dis thing no dey happen, For Igboland (from Benin to Calabar) their weree (madness) pass be carefull. Na only Calabar better pass for all of them. Onitsha, Warri oo, even Port Harcourt na the same. I prefer North sha but the Muslim/Christian wahala na another thing.

Some loss was recorded but we were paid back some compensation. At the end the profit was nothing to write home about. How many business will survive in this kind of hostile environment? I have always believed that Nigeria is a place a son of nobody can easily make it, but with the way things are going am beginning to reconsider. How do we make this place conducive for businesses? Am not saying we should kill these idiots (Area boys), neither am I advocating to send them to hell. How do we get them engaged and send them out of the street?

Let not see this as a Northern issue alone. These are symptoms of a failed State. Nigeria was founded on falsehood and deceit. If the North and Southern were honest with their marriage (Nigeria) all this would have been averted long before now. A nation without Mission and Vision. The older generation of leaders never had this generation in mind in all the decisions they took, they were all selfishly motivated. Even this present generation leaders are not putting the next generation into consideration when making policies and laws. Nigeria is a State of the moment where greed and selfishness reign. I visited Imo State during the gubernatorial election, people voted for him, protected those votes and were willing to die for those votes. Thank God INEC didnt go against the wish of the people. Maybe by now Imo would have turned to a Northern State.

I asked residence of Imo why so much support for this man called Rochas. The answers I got almost made me burst into tears because such men like Rochas are rare in AFRICA. Do you know that he sends forms to every community in the State to produce the less privileged amongst them for entrance exam into Rochas Foundation which is a free education. And he sees those kids as his children. Imo people believe that if he is given the chance their kids will have the chance of been educated. Am seeing Imo State producing more manpower for Nigeria in the years to come. If not for corruption, it is possible to educate all willing Nigerians to University for free. In Libya and in most parts of the West free education is not considered as a luxury.

This man is actually interested in education than any other thing. He has been doing this with his private naira. He has a vision. I think he will do what he has just promised. He should be encouraged in whatever form we can.

It`s so unfortunate that we inherited a Nigeria that was founded on hypocrisy. This hypocrisy between the North and South may never end.

No he was even the one that suggested giving me some of the money for the rent while I add the rent because I lost my job and could not afford where I was staying so instead of offering me his place for the main time, he suggested himself, that he would want to add some money, little while i add the rest. It's not even up to half of my rent. His decision to break up with me as he said had been there on his mind since, that prefers someone not more than 7 years his junior. I am 23, he is 33. That the age gap is 2 digits, he has been trying all these while because he loves me but what if I meet someone else and leave him. And even compared his brother getting married to a younger woman and she left him. I tried all I could to tell him, that I loved him.
Age was just a number, I might not have achieved a lot but I am willing to work with him to settle and a woman leaving has nothing to do with her age but her as an individual. But all to no avail. He was suggesting he wants us to be friends, that he was hurt too and would still give the money by the end of the week.
That was what led to the break up.
