baby124: You are talking of Benin Republic or Dahomey. These ones here are talking of Benin City or Oba of Benin them. Completely different people. In 1930, there was nothing like Republic Benin. The country, Dahomey only adopted the name 'Republic of Benin' in 1972 as a neutral name to all parts of the country and reminiscent of the once great past of Africans. Oyo Empire was a great African country which control large swathes of territories through military conquest and diplomacy but had become very weakened due to internal crisis by the early 1800s. The legacy of this Empire is one of the reasons why the Yoruba language is spoken over vast areas in West Africa from Nigeria to Togo. Benin Empire was also a great African country. It was situated close to the coast and was more preoccupied with economic success (monopoly of trade with Europeans) than territorial expansion and thus lasted longer until her interests clashed with the interests of the British Empire, leading to its invasion and annexation in 1897. |

zyphr: That my parents don't look alike doesn't mean it is superstition. It's not. The images posted above by the OP and several others on the Internet are few proofs. Most times when a research is conducted in science, it doesn't mean that it is applicable to everybody. For example research say that smoking causes lung cancer but there are a lot of chronic smokers who lived till over 90years and died of other causes than cancer. You are clearly more intelligent and matured than most people on this thread. |

Odingo1: Robbstark is an Afonja guy claiming Opobo man, all Opobo people agree that they are Igbos. Ibani and Opobo are typical Igbo villages. Their Igbo names and language gives them out as Igbos. Anyone who doesn't support your views on Nairaland is automatically an Afonja! |

Igboid: There are no Ijaws in Rivers, let alone Akwaibom. Don't be foolish. I don't know about Ondo and Edo, I will let those concerned to handle you.
Ama-Onye-nabo is not an Ijaw title or name. But the Ijaws never used any title like Ama-Onye-Nabo. You need to know that compound words in one language can be manipulated to mean something else in a different language by breaking it into two or more morphenes. |

The Federal Government does NOT give allocations to the States.
Federal, States and LGAs get their allocations from the FEDERATION account according to an agreed sharing formula. |

Mr. Man Na thugs scatter Lagos In the midst of chaos people always seek opportunity to loot
That said I am not an IPOB member I never support them
And bigotry is also on both sides Not just "your side" I cannot support bigotry Regardless of who is doing it But be sincere for once, Nnamdi Kanu broadcasted all those things on Radio Biafra. People that believe in his struggles are living in Lagos and definitely amoung the mob carrying out the attacks on Lagos. |

Next pls Ken Saro-Wiwa fought for and defended the interests of his people just as Ojukwu did. In wars, different great men may be on different sides of the divide. It is wrong to assume that everybody must be on your side. |

MARRIAGE shouldn't be born out of compulsion. And Again, if you Hate MEN, PLEASE avoid marriage. Just avoid it. It's not for you.
IF you are a Troublemaker, avoid marriage. IF you are an embodiment of Insults, please avoid Men entirely. Singlehood is not a death sentence. It is obvious that she wasn't mentally and psychologically ready for marriage. You can NOT eat your cake and have it. Nowadays, it is fairly common to see married women between 21-27 years chatting with guys on whatsapp till 12 midnight, wearing skimpy dresses and doing silly things like 'doggy pose' on social media. During my NYSC camp days , i saw a married lady dancing on stage with guys. I pointed it out to her best friend that this was wrong. The friend replied 'marriage shouldn't be a boundage' |

obynzo: Are you this dense how is Tinubu gifted. We all know that Lagos is what it is because of it position from colonial times and the fact that it is the defacto commercial centre where import come first into the country. You say south east cannot survive without allocation for a year, but you forget easily that when Ngige was governor of Anambra state that Obasanjo also withheld Anambra allocation to punish Ngige for three years Anambra had no allocation from 03 to 06 when courts removed Ngige and replace him with Peter Obi. Guess what during that time the IGR from Onitsha alone was keeping the government going. Ngige was financing road construction projects with RCC and not the rubbish Hitech guys in Lagos. Again the riots over End SARS I really don't want to say you are a fool sha, but the rioters were clearly Yoruba the guy who led people to loot the Oba's Palace and steal the staff of office was clearly a Yoruba boy but in your foolish and dense nature you chose to accused igbos and IPOB because IPOB is clamouring for equity or let us leave the federation. Stop peddling falsehoods ,Obasanjo didn't withhold the allocations to Anambra State. |

meccuno: how does a state develop when the resources in your land are held by the FG? How does a state develop when people who are supposed to have sense are bickering over VAT? What exactly is development to you when the standard of education has been reduced to the level of the North? In Anambra where I am from which is the most industrialized state in the SE doesn't generate its own electricity? Even the airport that was built needed permission from Abuja before it could start operation. No state in Nigeria can surpass Lagos with the type of democracy we are running. And Lagos is a shit hole compared to other African states. Just like all the 36 states are useless combined. Despite many excuses, Anambra and other States can generate their own electricity (e.g for an industrial estate). They only need to join the National Grid if the amount of electricity will be above 1 MW. Each State has land which can be used for Commercial Agriculture. Even the control of minerals by the FG is more on paper than reality. Anambra had Clay and Rocks which are mineral resources which can be used to produce ceramics and glass without the FG disturbing them. There are so many opportunities available for States to develop but we don't have Governors that think deeply on how to develop the economy of their States. Each State has its own educational sector with many primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. They can develop their educational standards to educate their people and leave the North with the falling standards of education. |

meccuno: are we actually making that efforts to develop? Look at the North. What have they done in the last 20 years that can show that they actually want to move forward. Because going by what I have seen, Nigeria as it is now is structured to favour them. The bulk of the blame of Nigerias failures goes to them. Well, the North may wallow in underdevelopment but they are NOT the reasons why Osun, Ekiti, Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa ,Abia and all Southern States haven't developed as they should. What are the majority of the people in the above named States doing that can catapult their States into the ranks of developed world in the next 5-10years? |

Which state in Nigeria can compete with Johannesburg infrastructure? When some people say that others are not good enough to hold some positions you won't remember that is tribalism. But you have rushed here to tell us that those callers are tribalistic. Penguin2: Why didn’t Tinubu think about these things you enumerated in 2015 when he went alliance with Buhari, a known bigot with no educational qualification?
You guys were ready to vote for him even if he presented NEPA Bill as certificate.
Take a chill pill. In 2023 we are ready to vote even a northern slowpoke with Newspaper used to wrap Suya as certificate.
Maybe by 2031 we will now sit down and talk about Nigeria’s progress. But if we never learn our lesson, then the vicious cycle will continue. 1) In a democracy where everyone is free to join any party of his choice and support any candidate, why do you think it is wrong for Tinubu to exercise this fundamental right but it is right for all other Nigerians to do so sir? 2) Tinubu is a leader of the APC, do you think Tinubu should have left the candidate of his party and be campaigning for the candidate of the PDP? What are the implications of a PDP victory for Tinubu and his political associates? 3) Why haven't we seen you guys asking or expecting PDP leaders to support APC candidate in a presidential election so as not to be accussed of greed or treachery? 4) Why is it that you don't demonize other politicians for supporting the election of Buhari? Amaechi is closer to Jonathan than Tinubu, yet he supported Buhari and you guys don't demonize him. Timi Sylva whom Jonathan helped to become the Governor of Bayelsa State in 2007 bought the nomination form for Buhari in 2015 but no one has ever heard you accussing him of treachery or greed or whatever. 5) Even Jonathan and the Ijaw/SS peoples have moved on from the defeat of 2015 election, how come some igbos especially the young igbos online are still embittered about the defeat of Jonathan in 2015? We hardly see Ijaw people accusing Tinubu or the Yorubas of betrayal or greed on account of the 2015 election? Jonathan's agent at the polls, Godswill Orubebe has moved on and just joined the APC last week. GEJ's kinsman, Ovie Omo-Agege joined the APC and today he is the Deputy Senate President, having replaced Sen Ike Ikweremadu since 2019. # The past, no matter how great or bad it was belong to the past. You can not make progress by still living in the past. |

These are my points sir They have no candidate in both APC and PDP but are still insisting that the Yorubas must back out from the presidential race or support their candidate. |
