FreeStuffsNG: The reality is that SE won't vote for APC but will vote PDP. It will be naive and political suicide if the APC plays into the hands of PDP by going to contest against PDP on the strong political turf of PDP. The reality is that APC will lose against PDP if it choses its flagbearer from the SE. SE is a stronghold of the PDP. The best bet for APC is to choose from the SW while the PDP choose its candidate from the SE. And besides, there is no strong SE candidate in the APC. Any attempts to impose an unpopular candidate from the S/East (or even any part) on the APC will cause cracks in the party that will have way for the PDP to defeat it. |

Come 2023 APC southern candidate will trash whosoever pdp brings whether atiku or tambuwal. APC has the political structure, whoever inherit it will win 2023. You have a good understanding of Nigerian politics. If Buhari had contested the 2015 election on the plateform of SDP, APGA or Labour party ,he would have lost. |

This slogan "deepsea port " has been ringing the news and the english dictionary for quite sometime now.
We have heard of LEKKI DEEP SEA PORT, AKWA IBOM DEEP SEA PORT, CALABAR DEEPSEA PORT, WARRI DEEP SEA PORT etc
The funny thing is that state that have the natural or normal sea port are itchying to have a deepsea port when they have not leveraging the economic benefit of their traditional ports in their state. At present there are no deep sea ports in Nigeria. Apapa and Tin Can Ports are built in the Lagoon. Onne Port, Rivers State is built on Bonny River (there is no Sea in Port Harcourt and the city is about 30km inwards away from the Atlantic ocean). Warri and Calabar are also built in Estuaries. |

EternalTruths: There is a difference between generating a revenue and profit.
The 412 billion generated by Lagos State is before expenses were deducted. Therefore would have little left over for Savings/ Foreign Reserve.
The 300 billion generated by Zenith and UBA is after expenses were deducted. This is a clear indication that they are richer than Lagos
In the end, after Lagos deducted her expenses, how much was left for savings & investments.? None.
A State can have left over just as a company can have.
In the case of a company, it is called Profit In the case of a State, it is called Savings/Reserve.
The Profits of those companies are far higher than the Reserves of Lagos State
That is what Kettykings and co have being trying to pass along but educated illiterates from Afonja land don't want to understand. Village economist, how do you measure the wealth of a State, is it by fiscal revenues in 2016 or the 5 year average GDP of the State? |

EternalTruths: The problem with most of you, is that you people aren't well informed and fail to properly inform yourselves.
There is no way, a state can be richer than a globalized company.
Why.?
Because, what makes a person or country or company rich, is it ability to produce diverse products that can be exchanged for money.
You don't expect Lagos or Nigeria to be richer than any globalized company.
That is why I believe that Nigeria should take R & D serious so that they can develop such companies to create wealth & good jobs for Nigerians.
Unfortunately, Buhari the dullard has destroyed YOUWIN and has not set the ball rolling for R & D
Mynd44 kettykings etc take note of this fact. Being rich is a relative and subjective phrase. 1) First thing first, you need to define what you mean by being rich. 2) You need to State the unit of measurement to truly quantify being rich and how this can be used to compare two or more entities. |

Islamic radicalization I have no clue of how it started but Islam is not just bloodshed and inshallah as far as I know there's a source of the violence and it isn't always Islam
I am not Muslim I am a Christian who just reads about African Religions and enjoys history Islam has been associated with violence from it's inception and the cause is the environment where it originated. You can't divorce a man from his background. Prophet Muhammed was born, grew-up and lived in the 7th century Arabian societies in the Al-Hijaz. Life in that Region in the 7th century was harsh with few resources to sustain large population so people bounded to their kinds for protection, survival and struggle against competitors. Violence was not only permissible but very necessary in this environment. The problem with the Religion is the failure of Islamic Fundamentalists to modernize and realize that certain seemly religious acts or decrees in the Qur'an and the Haddiths were inspired to solve the problems at the time but not a permanent solutions for all generations. |

Italy same
Just like Yoruba Nation and Igbo nation have several tribes under them but they are largely the same ...they share similar culture
Ghana have the Ashantis as major ethnic group
China same the Chinese are over 70% of the China
Yorubas have more in common with Ashantis than hausa/Fulani kanuris
Igbos have more in common with southern Cameroon than even north
Nigeria we don't share similar value in any way It's obvious that you assumed so many things about European countries without a deep understanding of their Histories. In France , the majority people are of Gaulish descendants but the Catalans, the Corsicans ,the Basques and the people of Navarra are of different origins but all have now agreed to live together as 'French people' You are right about the different Ethnic groups in Nigeria to a reasonable extent. The real reason why Nigeria, like most other African countries fail to develop is because most of their citizens don't think well in the ways that can solve the problems of their societies, even if we divide the country into 20 different smaller countries, there will still be developmental challenges. It requires about 60% of the population of Nigeria or any other country to believe in and support a particular way if they want to succeed in that way. |

Fejoku: Anyone who knows Kalabari's history very well know that they're descendants of mixed people with Igbo and Ijaw being the largest contributors. Efik, Ibibio and edoids around down Niger tributaries also added to the fold making the place a cocktail of different persons. Two things however standout which is the language and culture of the people. Igbo language is predominant there together with a dialect similar to Ijaw but the customs and traditions resemble that of coastal people around the area specifically more of the Ijaws. Areas traditionally regarded as Kalabari doesn't include Okrika and Bonny. These two see themselves different even up till date. This recent story of carving a niche for themselves isn't surprising. In fact, it is expected because the truth is that there's hardly any sincerity in the creation of numerous 'ethnic nationalities in Rivers state. There's hardly any state in Nigeria that is as politically jinxed as Rivers state. Even Ogoni don't agree that they all are one. Some Igbo groups there have the same problem. Now even the Kalabari have started their own. I expect the Andoni and Nkoro to start their own too. There's too much lies in Rivers state. What did you mean by 'No State is as politically jinxed as Rivers State'? |

SlayerForever: I can see owu there meaning water people! May that be a variation of Oru in Igbo??!!!!!!
Anyways, what I can get from this writeup is that Ijaw are just playing games. And the Kalabari being much older (according to article) cannot agree to descending from a more recent Ijaw. Logical analysis.
This would also indirectly call into question the claims of some Igbo tribes to have descended from a more recent Bini, when the Igbo have been documented to be far far older (as even heralded by Ooni and some other monarchs in the know). It is a stupid claim indeed as indirectly illustrated by this article. The article is about Kalabari and Ijaw. It has nothing to do with Igbo and we don't know how igbo came into the discussion. |

Politics › Re: 2023: Southern APC Candidate Or Northern PDP Candidate? by oyatz(m): 5:12pm On Sep 02, 2021 |
NoSentiment: The day the Apc fields a southern candidate and PDP a northern candidate is the day the APC willingly agrees to cease ruling Nigeria. Reasons?
(1) Northerners (both elite and peasantry) do not see the current APC govt as having worked for or represented their best interests. This may come as a surprise to an average southerner who considers Buhari's alleged sectional appointment as sth the north sees as anything or is happy about. The thinking in the north is that almost of of Buhari's capital projects are concentrated in the Lagos-Ibadan axis. He is seen by most as having done nothing concrete for the north. He has, for instance, even done nothing for his traditional strongholds of Kano (except a prison) and Bauchi (except a recent plan for a university in Azare)! This is not to talk of Katsina (except a transport univ in Daura)
2. The SE naturally dislikes APC and its president Buhari. Plus, they see the SW as having betrayed their benefactor (GEJ). Hence, they'll rather vote for a northern PDP candidate (may be with an igbo vice) just to spite the APC and PMB and pay the SW back for their "betrayal" of their benefactor.
3. The SW is sophisticated and politically (and religiouly) indecisive. Even if a PDP candidate comes from there, still a very good APC candidate stands the chance of getting reasonable amounts of votes there.
Therefore, a Northern PDP candidate is guaranteed to get the northern votes (where there is now an unprecedented disdain for PMB and dislike for APC) + the protest votes of the SE (a region that has a fleshy political bone to pick with SW where the southern APC candidate is highly likely to come from) + the votes of the highly indecisive SW.
In contrast, a Southern APC candidate at most has a guarantee of the votes of the SW (where he comes from) but not that of the North ( northerners may be seen as illiterate but they're politically smart) or south (where voter apathy or indifference or even, as it is highly likely, protest votes against PMB and APC may be decisive)
The best bet for the PDP is fielding a northern candidate especially if APC goes south where she's without an ounce of doubt going to see shege from both the southerners that it would want to give medicine after death and the northerners that I'd take for granted.
2023 is packed with alot of drama for those whose lives Allah spares to see it. How many States do you think the PDP and the APC are each likely to win and the likely votes from such States? |
