Gov Obaskeki has been in power for about 8years, what is the volume of export from Edo State? If Edo State is export $Billion worth of Palm products annually, the whole country will feel it and Benin city will be as developed as Nairobi or at least Mogadishu.

Nigerians need to understand that Nigerian economy is a summation of the economy of all the 36 States+ FCT, so Governors should not be posturing like outsiders in the economic development of their States and Nigeria in general.

Secondly is that this is a distortion of the same market reforms Tinubu claimed to be carrying out. If you're creating a parallel market for goods, you are opening the market as a whole up for abuse and disruption in supply as the state certainly has more purchasing power than other marketers. A model closer home is the fuel subsidy that's being grappled with today.

The states and FG should instead invest in agriculture on a mechanised scale while giving food stamps to low income earners to augment their supplies.

Nigeria is Federation of States and all States aren't meant to be doing the same thing.

This programme is LASG policy. It doesn't affect production of food in Katsina, Delta or Ekiti States.


The LASG agency is buying foods directly from the producers in Ogun, Kwara, Niger States and selling it cheaply to residents of Lagos.

In all of these, it is people with fixed incomes like salary earners that will be worse hit followed by people producing or dealing in non-essential commodities e.g Hair dressers selling Brazilian and Malaysian hair, traders /importers of wines ,electronics etc.

The purchasing powers of the people to buy imported items have reduced due to the exchange rates. However, producers of exported items like Cocoa, Kolanuts, Cashew nuts and now food items are making a lot of money.

*Good road network.

If this organisation can be encouraged and partnered with, they can do very well in economic management e.g

*They can be given loans, farm implements to produce 5 tons of rice within a 3 year time frame.


Similar developmental MOU can be signed with Redemption Camp, Shelf Estate, Dangote Refinery and other Private bodies in ways that promote efficient uses of resources and insulated from the negative effects of Politics.

Yoruba is not a Thesaurus for the Benin Language.

Yoruba language included the Southeast Yoruba dialects. The main difference between Oyo dialects and their SE counterparts is mostly that the Central and SE dialects are more conservative and have a stronger archaic (original) inventory as compared to Oyo which has a simpler structure and is less conservative.
Edo on the other hand is a different language all together. You can't be putting Edo and SE Yoruba in the same bracket and then comparing both to Oyo as if they were the same thing.

You can compare many things simultaneously.

Both Yoruba and Edo ,though are different belong to the same KWA language family.

As you move away from Bini towards Akure, Ilesha, Ife, Gbogan, Iwo to Ejigbo to Oyo, you will notice that the dialects become more different from Bini and closer to Yoruba Ajumolo.

Do you know there is a very popular linguistic theory that the Northern Edoid languages are actually the ones closer to proto Edo than Benin (Edo language) and not the other way round? They are actually the more conservative Edoid languages compared to Benin. Some Ora dialects like that of Ozalla are closer to Esan than Esan is to Benin.

I also believe this too.

As Bini became an Empire, it got exposed to and incorporated elements of other dialects, from Yoruba in the West to Igbo in the East and European languages in the South.

The emergence of the Oyo Empire (which encountered and mixed with many different peoples) made the Yoruba language to evolve into somewhat, different language from Edo and Southeast Yoruba dialects spoken between Ile-Ife to Ondo/Ekiti States
