So many juvenile political analysts on this forum wrongly assume TRIBE and TRIBAL LOYALTY is all that determine political success.
Nigerian democracy is getting more matured than what those analysts think; tribalism will not continue to be the determining factor in Nigeria's electoral processes.

Why are you so obsessed with the yorubas? If Yorubas are cowards, slaves, evil, treacherous etc, why not leave them to their fates or must you take panadol for Yoruba's head ache?
truefact:
Read my post fuulish ostrich. ...we agreed igbos are been dislodged. Now, why are you also playing the slavish slave? Are you no more suffercated? Why cant you use your suffercation to dislodge the North and become number one? It is ashame, that you are nothing in the equation. ...
Igbos are dislodged by north,.now where do you stand in the equation ? You simply nobody...
Hausa-Fulani never considered you as somebody, hence they don't feel bothered about you...you are cowards who can't fight for anything except making noise.

I always hear igbos agenda this and that. I also hear Northern agenda this and that, but i never heard yoruba agenda even for once....what you do cowards stand for?

Contrary to what embittered souls propagate on social media, the Biafra war was never a Yoruba Vs Igbo intertribal war
truefact:
Yorubas is has this or that...my question is..WHY haven't yorubas use their suffercation to dislodge the Hausa-Fulani from being the owners of Nigeria?

Yorubas are nothing....Why can't yorubas compare themselves with Hausa-Fulani? Yorubas claim to be the most progressthieves and suffercated, yet they are slaves to Hausa-Fulani...

Mind you, igbos are dislodged by a combined forces which includes the yorubas and Hausa-Fulani. ...if the civil was only btween igbo and Hausa-Fulani or Igbos and yorubas, I tell you Igbos will win any day and any time....yoruba are true cowards...

Igbos are like one man fighting again many men...
Yorubas March Hausa-Fulani man to man, stop being cowards

Politics › Re: What Is The Meaning Of Afonja? by oyatz(m): 6:13pm On Jan 07, 2017
Nooooo, according to Iku baba Yeye, Aalafin Oyo, in Yorubaland, Afonja is a name given to a (male) child whose placenta cut while being delivered from the birth canal( Afon ja= stretch to breaking point). Its a common experience in Midwifery and Obstetrics practice.
The name Afonja doesn't connotes betrayal, 'to fight', back stabbing or anything evil as some Igbos who are hell bent on rewriting Yoruba history will like to portray . They are respected and proud yoruba families, whose surface is Afonja. One of them was even chairman of First bank Plc.
math2000:
Afonja means "to fight".

Noooooo, the ruling house in Ilorin are of Fulani origin. However, ethnicity is NOT static and very dynamic due to cultural dilution and assimilation. It is not uncommon all over the world to find a royal family that originate from outside the main people they govern.
The incumbent ruling house in Spain is from the Bourbon royal family of France, the royal families in Kano and Bida are of Fulani origin, the royal family in Bini is of Yoruba origin, that of Ogbomosho is of Bariba origin while the Lagos royal and Onitisha royal families are from Bini

Dan Bawa "Aiyelabowo

2)Ibrahim Kolapo dan

It obvious the rulling houses is between the yorubas and fulanis.
But the fulanis have ruled most

You can as well show me any fulani man bearing kolapo And and aiyelabowo as surname

Wrong bro, the name Saraki is NOT limited to a particular family, just say Bukola Saraki's family are the only ones you know. If the name is strictly a fulani name why haven't you seen other Fulanis bearing that name?
The truth is that the name Saraki is bore by YORUBA MUSLIMS(or Yorubas with Muslim background) from Ogun State to Oyo, Kwara and Kogi States just like the names Rasaki or Buhari
Please, check facebook and see many people bearing Saraki as surnames like Titilayo Saraki, Yemi Saraki, David Saraki etc.

With this kind of reasoning we can as well say

Bukola saraki is a pakistan man because no fulani man bears that name apart from bukola's familygringrin

The truth is that it will be very difficult to see a true full blooded Fulani indigenes of Kwara (not recent migrant Fulanis), what you can have are Yoruba people who have Fulani ancestry (usually mixed). They have been much cultural assimilation that even the Fulani irredentists in Ilorin can not speak or understand their language.
The incumbent emir of Ilorin used to be known as Justice KOLAPO Gambari in Court of Appeal

Politics › Re: What Is The Meaning Of Afonja? by oyatz(m): 1:02pm On Jan 07, 2017
Emir is NOT a Fulani title but an ISLAMIC title, derived from the Arabic ' Amir all musulumi' meaning leader of the faithful.
The Jihadists established an Islamic emirate(a Theocracy) consisting of Muslims of many ethnic backgrounds but in later years, like elsewhere, Theocracy can not last long and will soon give way to ' hereditary religious monarchy'

Stop misinforming people. Sen Cornelius Adebayo defeated incumbent Gov Adamu Attach in 1983 to become Gov of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki (only his paternal grandfather claim Fulani ancestry) and the Incumbent Governor ,Abdulfatah Ahmed (from Share town) are Yorubas.
Kwara State as presently constituted is essentially a Yoruba State because Yorubas constitute over 80% of the State's population this easily explain why Yoruba Language is the lingual franca there.

The only Yoruba governor in Kwara state from inception was Governor Lawal, 1999 elected governor. No Yoruba governor in Kwara since then.

Whenever any issue that appear to challenge anything about Islam/Quran, Muslim fundamentalists often respond by trying to denigrate the Holy Bible/Jesus/Christianity.
Can't you defend your religion and the Qur'an alone without making reference to Christianity.
You guys wrongly assume that anyone that criticizes Islam must be a Christian, as if only Islam and Christianity exist in this world (and everyone must belong to either) and any challenge against Islam/Muhammad must be viewed in the ' Islam Vs Christianity' concept.
LagosShia:
You must really be going wild wild mad.with every thread you start, you end up being refuted hard and bad.in the last 24 hours you have started at least 3 threads in this forum to attack islam and the Quran.

But not to worry I will refute you and the claims of your entire generation and show all the lies you present to attack islam and the Holy Quran.

Refuting the points raised in the video:

1.) Ancient manuscript and archaeology proves that the present Quran that all muslims have, regardless of their differences,be they shia like myself or sunnis like the majority of muslims,is the same Quran as that which was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (sa).not a least stroke nor an additional letter has being subtracted from or added into it.

2.) The Quran after the death of the Prophet (sa) was in written form.it was first compiled by Imam Ali (as) with commentary and details of the revelation of each surah.then abu bakr also compiled another copy.Imam Ali (as) was the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Quran as sunni (not even shia) hadith points out.abu bakr being the person in the position of caliph produced a copy from the copies of the Prophet (sa).the copy of abu bakr was used and Imam Ali (as) had no objection to it.it was both the same and fine.

3.) After the muslims had conquered distant lands outside of Arabia,Quranic verses with variations were spotted.that alarmed the caliph,Usthman.therefore Usthman compiled four copies of the Quran from the orginal and those copies were spread across the corners of the Islamic world.the verses that had variations were collected and destroyed.this was done to ensure that the same fate that befell the bible and continues to from constant tampering and fingering and editing does not happen to the Holy Quran.

4.) The verse in the Quran about jews,Christians and sabians who shall be rewarded speaks of those before Muhammad (sa) since the query was:what would be the fate of those Christian and jews who lived before the Prophet (sa) came and did not have the choice to reject or accept his message?the answer was those who believed in God,the last day and did good, they shall be rewarded by Allah (swt).that demonstrates the universal appeal of islam and its universal sense of justice for all under One God.that by no way says that islam was influenced by jews and Christians.however our common beliefs and commonalities,we muslims do not deny them.

5.) Of all the manuscripts of the bible available it is a fact that no two are identical.besides, the new testament most ancient manuscripts are all in greek when no one of the contemporaries of Jesus spoke greek.christians would tell us the most orginal ones in Hebrew have being lost!!!ridiculous to say the least!!!!and whoever composed the video has the effrontery to claim that there are bible manuscripts while there are no Quran manuscripts from earlier periods.he either is ignorant that there is no early bible manuscripts and that there are Quran manscripts or he is deceptive.

6.) In Arabic, variation in script or strokes does not mean variation in reading.to say that the kufic script was not in use in makkah proves nothing.the kufic script was used in kufa.and kufa was conquered less than 20 years after the death of the Prophet (sa).Kufa was even the capital of the Islamic world under the caliphate of Imam Ali (as),whom the sunnis consider as fourth caliph.

7.) The person who made the video contradicted himself.he earlier claimed that there are no Quranic manuscripts but later presented evidence of those manuscripts from the days of Usthman barely 25 years after the death of the Prophet (sa).to the fool who made the video,25 years is not “ancient enough”.but when examining the bible,we find that the 27 books of the new testament did not form one book until 3 centuries after Jesus i.e. 300 years after!!!!and their authors are mostly unknown.

8.) The Quran today is the perfect copy of what was revealed to our Prophet (sa).the Quran was revealed in only one harf.whatever ahruf (letters) exist, exist only in text but not in recitation.

9.) When talking about Arabic text, the fool did not indicate that Arabic text was not perfected until very late.whatever text that existed in ancient time, that text can be written differently today but is recited the same way.the introduction of strokes and other signs in the Arabic text came late to make writing easier.but the reading is the same.there are also verses which are written in one way but pronounced in another way to fit the dialect that was prevalent in Quraysh.hence, additional strokes to indicate and make it easier for more readers to know how to pronounce the word correctly.again, that implies no change at all.

10.) The hafs is what is the dialect of the Quraysh and it was with their dialect the Quran was revealed.if you read the text as it is written, you still get the meaning and means the same;but the pronunciation of the word slightly differs.that is why all Quran are written in hafs in order for the reader to be able to recite it th Quraysh way.

11.) The claim that Muhammad (sa) could have received the Quran from a Syrian hermit is laughable.a man who prophesied future events, and exposed secrets of past events and made a lot of scientifical proven statements in the Quran could not have received it from anyone.the claim here is that the Prophet (sa) “received it”.others claim he was “taught”.others say he was “helped”.please make up your mind and tell us which guess you want to stick to.

12.) The second claim is that the monk “took him and taught him”.all that happened and his own contemporaries did not know of it.the Quran tells us that Muhammad (sa) was illiterate and could not write and was not taught.if he was,and he made that claim, everyone including his own relatives would have opposed him.

13.) It is funny how the Quran could have being copied from the bible but the Quran is free from errors and historical inaccuracies but the bible has those in abundance.

14.) There is no gospel in the time of Muhammad (sa) that was written in Arabic.the bible was translated in Arabic very late after Muhammad (sa).Waraqa knew Hebrew.Muhammad (sa) could not read or write.even if we assume for argument sake that Muhammad (sa) knew how to read and write,it is illogical to believe that he could have done that to copy contemporary and distant prophecies and knowledge and for more than 2 decades he was not caught doing that.this is a man with 9 wives and children and thousands or relatives and companions.

15.) How could Muhammad (sa) know that man was made out from a clot of congealed blood in the womb?even in English the verses of the Quran souns beautiful.you need to hear the Arabic recitation.

16.) The verse said Allah taught man the use of the pen.the person who made the video said Allah taught Muhammad (sa).and the same Quran says in a very clear and explicit verse that Muhammad (sa) was illiterate and could neither read or write and no one doubted him.

17.) We believe in what was revealed to Jesus, but unfortunately Christians do not have that.what remains of that is negligible.

Don't mind the religious bigot. Aisha's age at engagement (6years) was EXCEPTIONALLY low and indefensible. What does a child of 6years knows about matrimonial issues?
Can a child give consent to a life long issue?
If Aisha was to be married off as a child, why not to a 10-15year old boy (at least, they will mature together) and why to a 50year old grandfather?
annunaki2:
What you just succeeded in telling us is that the standards at the time of mohamed were low and mohammed subscribed to this pathetically low standards yet he is supposed to be islam's best example undecided one would have thought a genuine prophet of God would raise the standards of his people and not institutionalise the low standards as part of his sunnah.

2) There is no article of trade that is sold only by members of a particular tribe.
3) If the traders decide to boycott a particular product (say Toyota spare parts or Dangote cement), they will drive themselves out of business because, non-Igbo traders will quickly replace them.

Do you know how many Nigerains from Hausa-Fulani, Kanuri, Nupes, Yoruba that have substantial shares in UBA, Diamond bank,Emzor etc?
@Ilugun Boy I recalled one thread on Nairaland which provided a detailed listing of members of the board and MDs/CEOs of large companies in Lagos.

That thread was actually a response to a claim by an Igbo poster who didn't believe that Igbos controlled many major corporate structures compared to other groups. That thread was QUITE illuminating.

I ran a search for the thread and it came up as deleted/hidden undecided, although various posts there are within view.

the name of the thread was "Igbo owned companies Ezeuche take note"

Off the top of my head - companies in Lagos which Igbos control or have as much stake as Yorubas

Yorubas Are The Problem With Nigeria
says Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
 Our Reporter 19 October, 2015
The Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned
by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the
years to be incapable of rising above narrow
tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from
other sections of the country by treating other
groups with respect. Practically every crisis in
Nigeria since independence has its roots in this
attitude.
The Yoruba elite and area-boy politics;
Igbo marginalisation and the responsible limits
of retribution; and
The Yoruba Factor and “Area-boy” Politics.
My views on the Yoruba political leadership have
been thoroughly articulated in some of my
writings, prime among which was ” Afenifere:
Syllabus of Errors” published by This Day (The
Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. There was
also an earlier publication in the weekly Trust
entitled ” The Igbo, the Yoruba and
History” (Aug. 21, 1998).
In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as
mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself
over the years to be incapable of rising above
narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill
from other sections of the country by treating
other groups with respect. Practically every
crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots
in this attitude.
The Yoruba elite were the first, in 1962, to
attempt a violent overthrow of an elected
government in this country. In 1966, it was the
violence in the West which provided an avenue
for the putsch of 15th January. After Chief
Awolowo lost to Shagari in 1983 elections, it
was the discontent and bad publicity in the
South-West which led to the Buhari intervention.
When Buhari jailed UPN governors like Ige and
Onabanjo, the South-Western press castigated
that good government and provided the right
mood for IBB to take over power. As soon as
IBB cleared UPN governors of charges against
them in a politically motivated retrial, he became
the darling of the South-West. When IBB
annulled the primaries in which Adamu Ciroma
and Shehu Yar Adua emerged as presidential
candidates in the NRC and SDP, he was hailed by
the South-West. When the same man annulled
the June 12, 1993 elections in which Abiola was
the front-runner, the South-West now became
defenders of democracy.
When it seemed Sani Abacha was sympathetic to
Abiola, the South-West supported his take-over.
He was in fact invited by a prominent NADECO
member to take over in a published letter
shortly before the event. Even though Abiola had
won the elections in the North, the North was
blamed for its annulment. When Abdulsalam
Abubakar started his transition, the Yoruba
political leadership through NADECO presented a
memorandum on a Government of National Unity
that showed complete disrespect for the
intelligence and liberties of other Nigerians.
Subsequently, they formed a tribal party which
failed to meet minimum requirements for
registration, but was registered all the same to
avoid the violence that was bound to follow non-
registration, given the area-boy mentality of
South-West politicians. Having rejected an
Obasanjo candidacy and challenged the election
as a fraud in court, we now find a leading
member of the AD in the government, a
daughter of an Afenifere leader as Minister of
State, and Awolowo´s daughter as Ambassador,
all appointed by a man who won the election
through fraud.
Meanwhile, nothing has been negotiated for the
children of Abiola, the focus of Yoruba political
activity. In return for these favours, the AD
solidly voted for Evan Enwerem as Senate
President. This is a man who participated in the
two-million- man March for Abacha´s self-
succession. He also is reputed to have hosted a
meeting of governors during IBB´s transition,
demanding that June 12 elections should never
be de-annulled and threatening that the East
would go to war if this was done. When Ibrahim
Salisu Buhari was accused of swearing to a false
affidavit, the Yoruba political elite correctly took
up the gauntlet for his resignation.
When an AD governor, Bola Tinubu, swears to a
false affidavit that he attended an Ivy League
University which he did not attend, we hear
excuses.
For so many years, the Yoruba have inundated
this country with stories of being marginalised
and of a civil service dominated by northerners
through quota system. The Federal Character
Commission has recently released a report
which shows that the South-West accounts for
27.8% of civil servants in the range GL08 to
GL14 and a full 29.5% of GL 15 and above. One
zone out of six zones controls a full 30% of the
civil service leaving the other five zones to
share the remaining 70%. We find the same
story in the economy, in academia, in
parastatals.
Yet in spite of being so dominant, the Yoruba
complained and complained of marginalization.
Of recent, in recognition of the trauma which hit
the South-West after June 12, the rest of the
country forced everyone out of the race to
ensure that a South-Westerner emerged, often
against the best advice of political activists.
Instead of leading a path of reconciliation and
strong appreciation, the Yoruba have embarked
on short-sighted triumphalism, threatening other
“nationalities” that they ( who after all lost the
election) will protect Obasanjo ( who was forced
on them). No less a person than Bola Ige has
made such utterances.
To further show that they were in charge, they
led a cult into the Hausa area of Sagamu,
murdered a Hausa woman and nothing happened.
In the violence that followed, they killed several
Hausa residents, with Yoruba leaders like Segun
Osoba, reminding Nigerians of the need to
respect the culture of their host communities.
This would have continued were it not for the
people of Kano who showed that they could also
create their own Oro who would only be
appeased through the shedding of innocent
Yoruba blood.
I say all this, to support Balarabe Musa´s
statement, that the greatest problem to nation-
building in Nigeria are the Yoruba Bourgeoisie. I
say this also to underscore my point that until
they change this attitude, no conference can
solve the problems of Nigeria. We cannot move
forward if the leadership of one of the largest
ethnic groups continues to operate, not like
statesmen, but like common area boys.
iii.The Igbo Factor and the Reasonable Limits of
Retribution.
The Igbo people of Nigeria have made a mark in
the history of this nation. They led the first
successful military coup which eliminated the
Military and Political leaders of other regions
while letting off Igbo leaders. Nwafor Orizu, then
Senate President, in consultation with President
Azikiwe, subverted the constitution and handed
over power to Aguiyi-Ironsi. Subsequent
developments, including attempts at humiliating
other peoples, led to the counter-coup and later
the civil war. The Igbos themselves must
acknowledge that they have a large part of the
blame for shattering the unity of this country.
Having said that, this nation must realise that
Igbos have more than paid for their foolishness.
They have been defeated in war, rendered
paupers by monetary policy fiat, their properties
declared abandoned and confiscated, kept out of
strategic public sector appointments and
deprived of public services. The rest of the
country forced them to remain in Nigeria and has
continued to deny them equity.
The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba
Bourgeoisie have conspired to keep the Igbo out
of the scheme of things. In the recent transition
when the Igbo solidly supported the PDP in the
hope of an Ekwueme presidency, the North and
South-West treated this as a Biafra agenda.
Every rule set for the primaries, every
gentleman´s agreement was set aside to ensure
that Obasanjo, not Ekwueme emerged as the
candidate. Things went as far as getting the
Federal Government to hurriedly gazette a
pardon. Now, with this government, the
marginalistion of the Igbo is more complete than
ever before. The Igbos have taken all these
quietly because, they reason, they brought it
upon themselves. But the nation is sitting on a
time-bomb.
After the First World War, the victors treated
Germany with the same contempt Nigeria is
treating Igbos. Two decades later, there was a
Second World War, far costlier than the first.
Germany was again defeated, but this time, they
won a more honourable peace. Our present
political leaders have no sense of History. There
is a new Igbo man, who was not born in 1966
and neither knows nor cares about Nzeogwu and
Ojukwu. There are Igbo men on the street who
were never Biafrans. They were born Nigerians,
are Nigerians, but suffer because of actions of
earlier generations. They will soon decide that it
is better to fight their own war, and may be find
an honourable peace, than to remain in this
contemptible state in perpetuity.
The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba
Bourgeoisie have exacted their pound of flesh
from the Igbos. For one Sardauna, one Tafawa
Balewa, one Akintola and one Okotie-Eboh,
hundreds of thousands have died and suffered.
If this issue is not addressed immediately, no
conference will solve Nigeria´s problems. By

Hmn, in which way are you different from Junaid mohammed ? Instead of preaching Peace you are threatening war. All the sophisticated war weapons are present in the 'East' and they alone have monopoly of such advanced weapons?
Do you think weapons alone win wars?
kettykings:
The truth is that the next civil war might not be like the first civil war.

The theater of war will definitely not be in the east. The use of advanced weaponry and technology like drones, cluster bombs, GPS for precision and ogbunigwe 2.0 which will be killing people in 1000000 will pervade the war.
My only prayer is let Britain and Russia back out so that some people will learn war 1. 0

You guys never cease to amuse me. In one breath, you are the most educated, most enlightened and richest people in Nigeria and in another breath, you shout that you are being marginalized.

Poverty result from the inability of a people to dominate their environment.
Wealth result from using what you have in your environment to get what you need.
The amount of wealth you get is proportional to the values you are able to add to the produce available in your environment.
The amount of money realized from the export of agricultural products by Australia and the US surpassed what Nigeria get as royalty from Oil companies from export of CRUDE, unrefined oil.

Oil can be imported easily but you will no longer eat the proceeds of what you dont own.

Do you know that Amina Mohammed was a former adjunct Professor at Columbia University, USA?
soletar:
kudos to her

What you guys don't see is she is guaranteed to get paid a
high salary in USD for the next 5 years. 10 years if term is
renewed.

Deputy Secretary General of UN would look good on any C.V.
It would open doors for her for the rest of her life.

Shocking thing i learnt is, it seems she doesn't even have a
university degree.

When God is for you, no one can be against you...when He
isn't who can bail you out Quran V 3:160

If high school cert holder can get to this position and
multiple PHD holder can't..... More grease / power to her
elbow!
