Please study history very well.
Sudan fought two civil wars with the last one between 1983 to 2005 ,just to keep their country together.
Brexit is about the UK withdrawing from European Union and not about disintegration of the UK .Do you know about several battles and guerrilla attacks waged by Irish Republican Army against the UK, in order to have Ireland separated from the UK, despite 500 years of political union? The departing colonial power, Britain partioned the British India into two based on deep seated religious differences in 1947 and even at that ,this left bitter enmity and several wars fought in the aftermath, such that India actuality invaded Pakistan to ensure Pakistan furthr disintegerated into Pakistan and Bangladesh.Several wars were fought in between them and up till today, Kashmir is still in serious contention and a highly militarized zone.
kettykin:
Same goes for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh which peacefully disintegrated when they realized that the union was not working.
Also the Soviet Union was peacefully disintegrated when they realized that the Union was not working.

Britain is about disintegrating peacefully after brexit when they have realized that the union is not working.
Sudan peaceful disintegration is there for all to emulate.
Why must Nigeria be different

Have you seen any Country in the whole world that easily agree to its disintegration? Why is the USA and Canada reluctant to let Peurto Rico and Quebec respectively be on their own?
Why is China still insisting that Taiwan is just a rebellous province of China despite that Taiwan has existed with its own sovereignity since 1949? Why did Eritrea had to fight 30 year civil war before being separated from Ethiopia? Why is Morocco frustrating the attempt by Western Sahara to break away and form their own sovereign Nation? quote author=kettykin post=43751742]But my question is that if the North is independent of the south east and south south then why this angst and trepidation about biafra[/quote]

Dangote has investment in the South east (trading investment but may be not manufacturing),besides Cement business is only one out of his numerous investments
sCun:
In summary he has two plants in the north central, one in the South west.
Why not ask for his investments in his home region the North west before asking about the South east? What about North east? What about South south? He is only planning to set up one in Calabar, as of now he doesn't have any investment in the South South.

Importation of tomato paste , wines, textiles and Pasta mean importing POVERTY into the Country while exporting employment and WEALTH to Italy, China, South Africa etc.
Nobody stop Ericson ,Horneywell and other manufacturers from producing products that can compete in the market.
Business, unlike Politics can't be ran or regulated by qoata system, zoning/rotation ,Federal character and other sentiments.
IVORY2009:
bro Dangote was a "King" in the market, a neigbour of mine who own a small manfacturing plant for sugar, was furstrated out of the market, due to govt policies @ as den, wat about importation, Dangote and his monopoly made the govt to ban most imported and cheap commodities frm Italy, like Tin tomatoes, Italian Pasta etc, he was the sole producer in the market place, ask large scale dealers in the mkt.

Business › Re: Dangote Loses 32% Of Wealth In 2016 – Bloomberg Index by oyatz(m): 4:51pm On Dec 31, 2016
Not exactly correct, Dangote has been a key player in the food sub sector of our economy for over three decades and the turning point in the Dangote group was when he evolved from TRADING to MANUFACTURING following his acquisition of Benue Cement Company which he merged with his newly built Obajana Cement to form Dangote Cement and the subsequent listing of this on the Stock exchange across the World.
KwaraRat:
Rubbish!

Dangote was made by govt subsidy under Obasanjo which gave him monopoly to import unfit for consumption rice. It is from there he got a lucrative sugar import monopoly and there his business empire sprang.

Dangote group requires top level govt intervention by providing waivers and necessary policy to ensure his monopoly. The Vaswani brothers who imported rice as well were kicked out of Nigeria to pave where for Dangote and Folawiyo's dominance.

See victim mentality at work! First, it was the Yorubas ,then the North and later the French concessioned owners!
Everybody are plotting against the Igbos!
PPAngel:
It is one thing to have the infrastructure up and running and it is another thing to have the required designation for the port.

Just like Airports, categorization determines the capacity of the port.

Enugu Airport was just recently categorized as an international airport which will see that international carriers operate in and out of the port.

If the same FG refuses to categorize the sea ports in the SE coastline for importation but rather maintains them as mere oil tanker jetties and export ports then little can be achieved economically for the SE ports of Warri, Calabar, Port Harcourt and even the yet to be constructed Ibaka port.

This is where the opposition lies and there is every indication that the SW selfishly opposes this, while the north is afraid of any major developmental stride in the SS and SE without them because as things stand with the GDP from these regions a sea port is bound to further enrich these state.

There is also the conspiracy of the French concessioned owners of Tin Can Container port who currently enjoy a monopoly in the business. Opening up another port to the east will surely reduce traffic to their port.
Politics › Re: HELP !! Yoruba Plot To KILL Ibaka Deep Sea Port by oyatz(m): 11:02pm On Dec 30, 2016
Point of correction, money generated from the ports belong to the federation account (not Lagos State Gov't as erroneously assumed because Nigeria don't practice true Federalism) which is then shared among ALL the tiers of Governments in Nigeria.
macjive01:
Nahh... we are not at war with Yorubas, at the end of the day we are still one Nigeria, would you rather service charge is paid to the Cameroonian government than our own government ?

Yorubas no doubt are reaping immensely from the one port policy of the government, and still at it, insulting and seeking to commit genocide (via the Lagoon). having said that, the money the reap still finds its way into the economy, more money to buy your brothers Yamaya generator etc.
Politics › Re: Five Reasons Why Igbos Can Never Succeed In Their Biafra Agitation by oyatz(m): 2:30pm On Dec 30, 2016
Can you see their usual arrogancehuh Referendum will be conducted for those who were part of the 'Old Eastern region'.
Please, get these facts
1) The Eastern Region was a British contraption which had ceased to exist since 1967
2) You can not conduct referendum for those who have never asked for it.
3) secession can only occur through (a) WAR (b) Diplomacy and peaceful negotiations (c) mixture of option (a) and (b) like the case of S/Sudan.
4) WAR has been tried with unwarranted destruction of lives and properties and unpalatable consequences which is still being felt today so this option will not appeal to most peoples.
5) Option-B can only take place if Biafran protagonists REACH OUT TO OTHER NIGERIANS and secure their cooperation and support to effect a constitutional amendment to accommodate a ' SECESSION CLAUSE' into the constitution. This will stipulates the conditions and guild lines for any region that want to opt out in a peaceful manner through a referendum whose results will be binding.
6) Option-C is to fight prolong civil war of independence which will reach a stalemate, followed by round table discussions for amicable solutions (after both sides would have exhausted their human and financial resources in prosecuting the war).
Anyone who has been around for long enough will acknowledge that the Biafran protagonists don't have the Military might, financial resources and above all, DEPENDABLE AND TRUSTED ALLIES to challenge the rest of Nigeria to a War and expect to win or even get a draw
VintageCocktail:
Consenthuh Arewa consenthuh Tell me the igbos duely represented in Ohaneze ndigbo that were forced, and for others who were part of old Eastern region, referendum will be conducted to know those who are for or against. This is the most important thing that should be done and put to rest the bickering and angry retorts and dissociations we are witnessing.

Sir,is it possible to discuss Igbo matters in Nigeria without mentioning YORUBA?
Igboid:
Lol!
Different day, same trash.

Anambra people are power drunk and would like to Lord over the Rest of Ndiigbo. Yet. Uwazururike an Imo man was the leader of MASSOB for years and MASSOB had the biggest fellowship in Igboland in Onitsha Anambra state.

Currently the leader of IPOB Nnamdi Kanu is from Abia state, yet Asaba-Onitsha axis is the hottest spot of IPOB membership and agitation, only Aba can come close to Onitsha in this Igbo renaissance March championed by IPOB led by a non Anambra Igbo man.

Currently, the President of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo is from
Ebonyi state, and before him was Uwaechue from Anioma Delta state.

Michael Okpara reigned all over the Eastern region and was loved by all, he never for once was antagonize by Anambrarians.

Jim Nwobodo from Nkanu area in present Enugu state was the governor of Old Anambra state, and was never for once castigated by Ndi Anambra, he was loved all over the area.

The Anambra man might be a proud man, driven by desire for success and need to be the best amongst equals but when it comes to Igbo nationalism, no other Igbo man can surpass the Anambra man patriotism to the Igbo nation.

This is why I hate it when non Igbos start dabbling into Igbo affairs. Ndiigbo are not Yorubas that were all fighting each other. The delicate art of Peace and conflict resolution through dialogues and negotiations is an art our ancestors had relatively mastered centuries ago.

It will serve us well in Biafra.

Most people from Arogbo-Ijaw,in ESE Odo LGA of Ondo State are ijaws but are gradually been assimilated into Yoruba Nation. Some of them have Yoruba names and can speak Yoruba. The same is true of their neighbour, the Apoi Ijaw but it appears the Apois have almost lost their Ijawness by adopting Yoruba language and names.

You are definitely not a Lawyer, otherwise you would have known that there nothing concerning Nigerian customs in this matter.
It may interest you to know that dynamite(explosives) are used legitimately in Mining, Construction and other industries. Criminals may however divert their uses to manufacturing of ' improvised explosive devices' just like cocaine was initially used in the hospitals before criminals diverted its uses to illicit uses.

Even the so-called explosive boxes HAVE EXPLOSIVE(DYNAMITE) WRITTEN ON THEM AND MADE IN CHINA with relevant information like lot/batch number to effectively trace it...LIKE WE ARE FOOLS! HOW THEN DID THESE BOXES ENTER THE COUNTRY FROM CHINA WITHOUT CUSTOMS KNOWING? ARE THE MILITANTS BRAIN DEAD TO BE CARRYING BOXES OF EXPLOSIVES WITH EXPLOSIVES WRITTEN ALL OVER THEM? Those peoples have MIXED ancestry ; Edo , Yoruba, Igala and Ebira but like in most cases with similar circumstances, the small tribes get assimilated into the larger tribe, so it is safe to say the Yorubas are in majority but politically, they fall under the administration of the Edos just as in the case of Bida and Ilorin Emirates where the conquering Fulani Jihadists gained POLITICAL POWER via religion but became assimilated into their larger hosts of Nupe and Yoruba ethnic groups respectively

There was NO CENTRALIZED Government then , each Idejo clan (the Aworis who are descendants of Olofin , from Ile -Ife) had its own chief e.g Oloto in Otto, Ojora in Ijora etc
Which President/ Prime Minister did the British meet in Nigeria in 1914? Does this mean Nigeria wasn't in existence then or that the British own Nigeria?
The Binis were the first to set up centralized Government as( a vasal state) in Eko but the place was already inhabited by the Aworis.

No name is owned by Igbo or Yoruba or Kanuri .The person bearing the name (and by extension his ethnic group) own that name at a point in time, with reference to him.
If a French man is bearing Henry, it is a French name but if it is an Englishman bearing the name, it becomes an English name. The same goes for Louis, Kate, Mary, Francis etc
The are many people from Edo, Delta, kwara and Kogi who bear such names as Taiwo, Ayo ,Dele Tope and aren't yorubas

This victim mentality won't help you. DSTV is owned by a foreign company and neither Yorubas nor Hausas have any say in how they run their affairs, let alone instruct them to marginalize Ndigbo by not operating an Igbo based channel. Private companies look for ways to maximize their profit with little regard for massaging the egos of tribal bigots.

What does DSTV air on yoruba channel and hausa channel? Why the apprehension about another peoples cuture? Yet they screem one Nigeria but remain intolerant.

When they make film about igbo history, it is aproblem to show on cinema (half of a yellow sun). Hausa an Yoruba will gang up to ban the movie from view in Nigeria. Is that a country?
