This victim mentality won't help you. DSTV is owned by a foreign company and neither Yorubas nor Hausas have any say in how they run their affairs, let alone instruct them to marginalize Ndigbo by not operating an Igbo based channel. Private companies look for ways to maximize their profit with little regard for massaging the egos of tribal bigots waternogetenemy: |
Who are the 'they' that are envious of you guys ,is it South Africa or Multi choice ? Calculia: |
Abeg when are they starting DSTV Ijaw and DSTV Fulani? dabrains: |
Your bigotry knows no bound. Lagos has stopped being Federal Capital for a quarter of the last century. What was the level of Lagos in 1991?Conscious and deliberate effort develop cities. So non indigenes were/are working hard to develop Lagos while the indigenes who are the majority of the residents were/are sleeping? Cubeet: |
How sir? Is this just by wishful thinking? PentiiumProf: |
Guy, you are great Philosopher o eezeribe: |
Oranmiyan (the founder of both Oyo and Bini dynasties) is the first OBA of Bini and he brought the title of OBA to Bini and also gave the kingdom it name Ile-Ibinu (Yoruba terms). Prior to the reign of Oranmiyan, the Bini s called their kings 'OGISO' the KINGS OF THE SKY. After the last Ogiso was banished, the of IDU (Bini) had a long period of Republican Government before Oranmiyan brought Obaship to them Prior to the reign of Oduduwa in Ile-Ife, several dynasties reigned in Ife and some of these had monarchs with the term OBA as prefixes to their names e.g OBAtala, OBAlufe, OBAlufon etc. Yorubas are conquered by Oba of Bini son Oduduwa, The Binin prince Oduduwa which is the son of Oba of Benin conquered yourubas and yourubas refer to him as god which fall down from haven with cock and palm fruits. Yorubas are slaves to Binin kingdom, the name Oba is a Bini name and word and Eko is a Bini word, The Binis also conquered Aworis and Eguns in Lagos and gave it the name Eko before yorubas started migrating to Lagos. Prince Eze Chima of Onitcha kingdom is one of the biggest allies of Binin Kingdom,he help Binis in their conquest. |
Stop misinforming People, the REAL Lagosians area Awori/Ijebu Yorubas and Egun people in Badagary axis of the State. The Oba of Eko (a part of Lagos Island) and some of his chiefs are the people that came from Bini just like the Governor-General and some Government officials in colonial Nigeria were from Britain but the real Nigerians were indigenous peoples. does that make Onitsha people edo people? Havent you heard the history that said the real lagosians migrated from edo? |
The President did the right thing in order not to give mischievous people the chance to disturb the peace of this Country. Had PMB visited and some people attempt to prevent him from freely moving about and the security forces deal with them the same way Burutai dealt with the Shias, by now you will be screaming genocide up and down |
Then the guy is right, Igbos(or at least some part) might have descended from Ukwuani or both Igbos and Ukwuanis may share some degree of ancestry. christopher123: |
What you fail to understand is that the number one criterion for membership of an ethnic group(amidst other criteria ) is SELF identification. The Aros have slightly different ancestry from the NRI descendants but have the right to identify themselves as IGBOS. In the same manner, other groups that feel they are slightly different in ancestry/culture/History or political past from the NRI descendants have the right to claim they are NOT IGBOS and this right should be respected without name calling or insults from Igbos who wish them to identify as Igbos and be pround of their Igboness EzeUche2: |
You must be high on Kerosene sir. Whatever TRADING advantages the Igbos or any other Nigerians have is part of the privileges of being CITIZENS of Nigeria and that will change in case of disintegration. The Jews that make in road in the economy of European Countries or the US have become CITIZENS of their host Countries and FULLY imbibe their values and culture. There is no Country that willingly open its borders for foreigners to come and dominate their Land and economy. Inspite of the much touted business acumen of the Igbos, how come they haven't been able to dominate the 'economy' of neighbouring Cameroun? As Jews still control almost everything in Europe n america, so will the igbos. Point is commerce knows no borders, some are naturally skilled at itnand some are not. Igbos own that sector n will still control it if nigeria splits. The north nn sw does not have what it takes in that aspect. |
No tribe is better than the other, they all have areas of strengths and weaknesses. crestbiz: |
The ancestry is ONE of the criteria that define a people but the most important criterion is SELF IDENTIFICATION. The people in question identify themselves as Igbos (even if they may be of different ancestry), so they are. You need to know that language and by extension, ethnicity is not fixed but changes over time. dialfa: |
Which States are favourable states,I thought you guys always boast that you are the best peoples in Nigeria, how come some States are more favourable than your States? ugoani: |
Is this topic about political leadership in Nigeria or about hatred of Igbos? is this about culture or politics? Afam4eva: |
Sir, where did you people get this statistics you are quoting about 'that Igbos constitute 48% of the population of Lagos, what is the population of Hausas, Fulanis, Nupes, Kanuris, Urhobos, Edos, Berom,Igalas, Itshekiris,Angas,Ekpeyes,Isokos,Ijaws, Bolawas, Karekare, Ibiobios, Aniomas, Anang, Efik,Idomas and Jukuns in Lagos? Are you perhaps subtly implying that any 'non native' in Lagos must be Igbo? Can you tell us the population of Yorubas (on whose land Lagos is built and whose other territories completely surround the megacity) in Lagos?

|

what the writer is saying is about the ZONE not the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbos have made tremendous contribution to the development of Lagos but it is very wrong to say that THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTHEAST HAVE THEIRTHE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTHEAST ARE ALSO LARGELY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER THE REVENUE OF LAGOS IS. Corporate private sector powered by many people from across Nigeria and FOREIGN MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES contribute the largest. The Igbos dominate 'buying and selling' but that doesnt exactly translate to dominating the economy in Lagos. Brownteeth:INDISPESABLE TOUCH IN THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY. |
LIAR! You meant to say the Fulani Jihad of the19th century didnt reach Igboland. They have always been islamic propagation only that it didnt take root. NafeesaAA: |
When ethnic bigots talk, they arent difficult to identify because whatever they say is laced with ignorance. Yorubas in Benin Republic constitute over 20% of the population (Igbos constitute about 18% of the Nigerian population) and one of them was President(Boni Yayi) of Benin Republic for two consecutive terms, a feat yet to be attained by Igbos in Nigeria. Igbos are ONLY indigenous to Nigeria. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of miles between Alaigbo and Equatorial Guinea with numerous nationalities interspersed in between. AndreUweh: |
Tribalism has eaten deep into your fibres, causing you to exhibit victim mentality. STATES (INCLUDING EAST CENTRAL STATES AND RIVERS ) WERE FIRST CREATED IN 1967. The Gowon or any other regime have no control in determining which State should be oil producing State or not as[b] the presence of oil in any place is NOT FIXED and can be discovered in different places depending on the sophistication of the technology adopted. Indeed in the next few decades from now, with improved technology almost all countries will be able to produce oil but in varying quantities. pazienza: |
Please stop misinforming people with your write up. The UNN act was passed into law by the Eastern REGIONAL house of assembly in 1955 but the university was opened in 1960. It was built by the Eastern regional and NOT federal government. the Ahmadu Bello University was established in 1962 as UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN NIGERIA by the Northern regional Government under the leadership of Sir Ahmadu Bello as the REGIONAL PREMIER. The Federal capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja in 1976 by the Muritalar Muhammed Military regime with the plan to build a Federal capita capital city (that will be fairly equidistant from all four corners of Nigeria and not 'own' by any of the three major Tribes) within 15years. According to this plan, IBB completed the project and finally moved the seat of Government to Abuja in 1991. Herald47: |
Oba Akiolu NEVER threaten to drown the Igbos in the Lagoon...In the Lagos of Old, it was the mythical belief that those who worked against interest of the throne will not survive crossing the Lagoon because there was no bridge at that time and most people had to cross the lagoon by canoes. Many people perished during such dangerous journeys (whether they are enemies or friends of the King) but sympathisers of the Lagos royalty attributed this to supernatural powers fighting the enemies of the King. This is the background of that belief that 'Those who work against the throne, perish in the Lagoon' I strongly condemn the Oba's statement. A modern day Oba should not believe in such crap, let alone utter it out where it will be misunderstood and quoted out of context. Uduak2019: |
I strongly suggest that the FG should partner with Innoson and other automobile manufacturers in Nigeria by giving them credit facilities to expand their business, purchase their products and encourage other Nigerians to do and if possible invest in their companies after making them to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Trendin:Their God can NOT fight for hiself,he needs his devotees to kill peoples on his behalf. |
explorer250:People like this writer lack the intelligence and the exposure to understand economic matters. |
Brilliance9000:Why is it that whenever Innoson vehicle is mentioned many people discuss it emotionally in form of tribal loyality and solidarity and are quick to turn it it to a 'We Vs them' arguments, lambasting other Nigerians that criticize Innoson, calling them names, accusing them of jeleousy/Hatred? It is high time this people know that real business have separate identity from their proprietors and a real business organization has NO TRIBE How many times have you seen Hausa-Fulani guys bragging that they own Dangote Cement/ Flour or Yoruba guys shouting that they own Globacom or Wema bank? |
