Like someone says why did you come to Nairaland of all places for advice from faceless fruitcakes ? In matter like these you have 3 choices : talk to god, talk to your pastor, or talk to your lawyer. Scratch pastor, his own marriage too is falling apart. |
What is the greatest thing that both of you have (or have had) together ? Protect it with humility and with all your might and trust everything else to God, and this storm will pass. Bigger ones will surely come but you are building experience here ![]() |
I watched the film and it had nothing to do with Islam other than "Alfa Sule". It is essentially a comedy and it parodies almost all the religions including white garment churches and traditional. Harmless fun as far as I could see. This will only make Alfa Sule a multi millionaire as everyone will now want to watch the film. Lucky guy. |
It already has hit Nigeria - It is called Yaradua And before that - Obasanjo And before that - Abacha And before that - , |
When I posted something like this few weeks ago I was nearly killed ![]() You people never see anything. Sooner or later you will always OVERSTAY your welcome in the house of even the best of friends , talk less of congenital bigots. |
kadman:4 whole times within a week and I use f words ?! Gee I must have been really angry with ppl here forgive me and thanks for following me , I am flattered ![]() Sorry I don't do arguments I just say what I believe , and I believe everybody is entitled to their own opinion , so don't be shy to make yours. Cheers. |
lekside44:Exactly the same kind of mentality that I was complaining about - the belief that as soon as you step out of Nigeria and into London things immediately start getting better for you. That is why we have so many Nigerians there making a nuisance of themselves and giving the country a bad name. |
I have a friend whose wife of more than 20 years living in US threatened him with divorce. My friend hired a lawyer to throw her out of his life permanently. She tried to retract but the harm had been done. The system abroad encourages single parents and women are actively encouraged to divorce their husbands at the least provocation especially when they are at economic advantage - or they perceive that the venture could prove lucrative in terms of alimony and related settlement. Our women living abroad need more education of the right kind. Many behave like village girls who have just ben brought to Lagos and trying exceedingly hard to look funky so that nobody will know that they are fresh from the village - and you know they always overdo it with disastrous consequences. |
Marriages are really c.rap anyway. There is more than 90% probability that one partner is going to wake up one day and say hey I am not enjoying this anymore. Should I spend all the rest of my life in this mess ? It might be caused by one of a hundred possible reasons . Many go into adultery and eventually towards divorce. In Nigeria the extended family, church, friends are always at hand to prevent total collapse. Outside and abroad you don't have this and so the possibility that the divorce will occur is high. I have never seen a couple who have been married long enough and not once thought of a breakup - ask your parents. Most marriages are actually held together by children , without children no amount of intervention can save a marriage on the way out. |
Do recognise that I said that particular job was the last I did in UK. I had before this lived and worked in that country for almost five years and I know all tat is needed to be known about the citizens. It is not a bit like America believe me. |
ogajim:I knew someone would try to bash me for this. I think that one of the fundamental requirements for gaining respect of other people is to make them respect your individuality. I gained the respect of my co-workers for this. I certainly feel better being called Olawale (not my real name) than being called Wally. Additionally I performed, if I didn't no amount of "assimilation"would have kept me on the job - it would have just been "one nigger less, the better the show". As a matter of fact the "culture of life" in England is two-facedness , and you should face to recognize that to your own peril. |
Sorry I won't discuss this any further. I don't hate anybody. We are all good and bad in our own unique ways. In retrospect they may not actually have hated me . They actually might not have understood me . I certainly was struggling to understand their culture and assimilate it , but I was still too Afrocentric and actually insisted that they call me nothing other than my full Yoruba name - no abbreviation, no Anglicizing. Hey I was an inconsiderate p.rick. |
manny4life:Primarily I got better paid than most of them. Secondly most of the problems that many find so tough to solve I did almost effortlessly, even my boss hated this -never ever let your boss think you are better than he is. Third was my fault - I didn't pub; so some of them actually thought what this said was like I thought I was superior to them [who the hell does this nigger think he is ? ]. Most were quite nice gentlemen though when you deal with them one 2 one. It is when they get together behind your back especially over a pint or two that they become wild beasts. Many till remain my friends however. |
Not that I cared what anyone did for a living though as long as your bills got paid. ![]() |
manny4life:No I only worked in that particular office for 18 months. The resentment was from my oyinbo co-workers . Most of the Nigerian cleaners were simply ashamed to be seen doing this work. |
@cap28 My last year working in UK and in the City was in an office where I was the only black person. The Nigerian cleaners who came to do their work after dusk always regarded me with amazement as I had this habit of working late most days - like what the hell is a Nigerian doing here ?. From my colleagues at work , most of whom have been in the firm more than 10 years all I could feel was resentment everyday , and if I wasn't so good at what I did I am sure wouldn't have lasted 2 weeks. I guess this was one of the reasons that made me finally return home - the realisation that these arseholes would never take me as their equal even though every day I proved myself better than them in every way. This is England - very unpredictable, very treacherous. |
silentc:OK sorry mate. God bless you all of you [f**kers] ![]() |
For those who have again continued to sing the tune - let nigeria get better if they want us to come back , it is quite obvious that you possess basic cognitive skills and you deserve whatever has happened to bring you to this sorry pass and the eventual outcome of you misguided adventure . If you are doing well wherever you are for God's sake stay there . Nigeria has enough problems and could do without more negative thinkers especially those who also excel at buffoonery. But if your condition has turned out to be even more pathetic than it was before you left Nigeria and you are joining all other clowns in that sing song , then you definitely are the greatest Arrow in the world and you will do well to find a circus to take you with them on exhibition. No country owes anyone a living. Nigeria does not owe you or me a living - we must make a living individually by ourselves in the way we find fit. We all have different skills and aptitude and must find our level wherever we are. The only thing that Nigeria owes all of us is an "environment" which we must assist to create because this environment includes every one of us living in the country. UK also owes none of you a living .Heck even the citizens are not under such idiotic impression .If you are there under the premises that "they assisted the politicians to steal our money and we are here to get it back and spend it' , I hope they send you to prison before they finally kick you out for good like the vermin you are. |
I would like to give my 2 pence worth on this thread. Like the story of blind men going to see the elephant and having different perspectives of what an elephant actually looked like , all were right in their own "views". its so obvious what pafun thinks of the UK (which is very obvious). i bet he is one of those people who stay in places like peckham(no disrespect here), associates with people from this class of Nigerians living there and obviously he has never met a different league of Nigerians in places like Knightsbridge and Chelsea who are "holding things down" in top notch investment banks making 6 figures salaries plus bonuses etc. if you look at his discription of what he call living it up in nigeria as well he thinks having a poultry farm is the poo when there are people doing major sturvs in Nigerian playing with bilions of doolars. I would implore everyone to understand that peoples perspectives are different (and correct to themselves) so there is no point arguing with him.
What is obvious about "what Pafun thinks of UK" ?. I think it is a delightful place and that is why I am here on holidays. My grouse is with Nigerians making complete arseholes of themselves all over the place like staying put in UK is a do or die thing. When I was working in London I lived in Clayhall you clown, and that is quite far from Peckham which I am sure is the only place you've ever heard about. I also worked in the City alongside the "top notchers" which you think are your own personal gods. And what kind of mugu would want to live permanently in Knightsbridge by the way unless you don't know what to do with your money - and you enjoy having IR crawl up your arse? Stop dreaming and stop reading about London from discarded magazines you have purchased for N20 in Lagos. I earn a good living from what I do and I don't need billions of anything before I enjoy my life and care for my family. Your perception of life and what makes it complete is obviously very illiterate and you will definitely find good companions in London; pack your bags and get ready to go also. ![]() |
Devonian: ![]() If I was earning good money in the UK I will not go to internet to defend my claim. Rather I will keep it to myself and laugh at Pafun from my house in Essex. I say you f**kers are full of s.hit . |
lolupee:I challenge your claim sir. For one reason your English is atrocious and you don't sound like someone likely to be offered 300quid a day anywhere. Sorry you don't have the X factor. ![]() [ I am sorry Simon Cowell wouldn't have ben kinder to you.] |
AjanleKoko:I wonder o ! Don't you know UK is the place where jobless Nigerians now go to be recruited and trained by AlQueda to bomb American planes. With [UK-dwelling] people like you have on Nairaland so ferociously defending their own foolishness no wonder America thinks we are all mindless terrorists. ![]() |
Benuromi:Another pafun - basher. Okay next person take a number and get in line. [thank god pafun is not my real name |
Half knowledge or half education is a bad thing o! AngieFan:OK wrong calculation - you will be paying 5000 pounds a year for a ratty room in London while you can pay 1000 for a whole house in Abeokuta. Now i am convinced that most of the ppl who hang out on Nairaland went to Koranic school (Ile kewu) All I have been reading for the past day in this thread is Laila illala Laila illala UK illala UK illala Laila illala Laila illala ![]() Can you not read and understand simple English ? I don't even know how some of you ever managed to get to UK. Abi na Ori olori you carry ? My last post here. |
jay bee:Beef ko , panla ni. londoner:Dem talk oyibo pass Englishman. Dis one get meaning so ? I wrote about men living like worms , you misinterpreted it into attack on UK. You go school so? |
Typical Nairaland responses Poster : I wouldn't consider living abroad NLanders : Oh it is because he wasn't given visa. Bad belle. Poster : I have lived abroad and returned home , and I prefer being home NLanders : Oh , na lie he must have been deported. Bad belle Poster: I think UK is over rated NLanders :Stupid man is Nigeria better. Shut your mouth. Poster: Are there jobs in UK ? NLanders :Are there jobs in Nigeria ? Me I no dey clean toilet sha o. I be proper legit with red pali. Na God go punish you for your foolish talk Dem talk oyinbo pass Englishman |
pappilo:Why do people get so hot under the collar whenever you say anything negative about UK; do they have something they desperately want to hide ? Where in dictionary does locum automatically mean contractor doctor ? Have you never heard of locum nurses or locum lawyers or locum secretaries ? If you don't understand English don't pretend to. locum means "temporary" and I don't get the impression that a Temp is a good job . That is why they are paid a lot higher than others who have permanent jobs.I know SAP contractors who can't keep a job for more than a few months at a time and others who have not lost a job in 5 years both in UK . What sort of job are you doing that qualifies you to work "odd shifts" shuttling between Lagos and London (North of the river Hackney and Eastham are North of river by the way and you won't catch me dead living in either place)This is getting to be a madhouse I am out of here. [who the heck put this on the front page anyway ?] |
pappilo:God will save me from illiterates on Nairaland . 1. Before you can make me accept this, first change your profile location to London (or whatever) instead of Lagos, so that I can know where you are writing from. 2, If you are posting on Nairaland at this time of the day in UK (or wherever) it is doubtful that you have a job, and if you do you may soon lose it because it is against work ethics to do this. 3. Where in the original post did I mention your name ? When you call the vegetable seller and she angrily replies without provocation that she doesn't sell bad vegetables , better be suspicious of what she is selling 4. Where in the original post id I make generalised assessment of job conditions of Nigerians in UK ? 5. You did not have job in 2005 and you got in 2006 . Congrats. The job market was still in bloom in 2005 by the way. Is 2006 the same as 2010 ? 6. You have two cars and two houses since 2006 on a job in UK ?.Congrats again, even though how much of it belongs to you and how much to finance ? If you bought them cash I very much doubt it. Else are you selling funny powders ? 7. You have friends earning 500quid a day . How many days are they working in a year ? Not very many I am sure. I know several IT contractors , Nigerians and British; who have not worked more than 5 days a month for 3 years 7. Your wife's brother is now working as a locum on 2000 quid a week . Locum what ? I think you are dreaming. Whatever your present disease is I sincerely sympathise with you, |
I quote you : IykeD:If you go to another man's land in the hope that it is better than yours and for some reason the experience in terms of joblessness has proved no better , I will be man enough to go back home or look for somewhere else. That is what I did. |
