@ Pafun,  Your post is well intentioned but it really does come off as smug. Suddenly it seems as if doing any kind of business in Nigeria is better than anything anyone has going here in the UK.  I have been in the Nigerian  manufacturing sector for a long time and  I can categorically tell you that right now, it is cheaper to import most goods from China than produce them in Nigeria!!!!!!!! You need to be totally self reliant (water, electricity, etc)  and at the same time expected to make profits at the end of the year.  Whereas you dont have those problems here.
To say the obstacle facing anyone trying to invest in Nigeria is not daunting, would be underestimating it.  In as much as Nigerians are 'supposedly' in the U.K, Nigeria is an an even tougher terrain to operate in.


We need to know the pros and cons before jumping to conclusions,

When you think of all the obstacles that you are likely to meet before getting to the bus stop it is unlikely you will get out of bed. How many items in UK shops are manufactured in UK ? Go do your survey. The fact is that it is also less expensive to make anything in Chinaand in Nigeria than in UK. this is not the point of the post however. See above.

Arrived ? Where is it written that I have arrived. I am writing out of compassion. Many people go to church every sunday to hear a similar message and it makes no impression on them whatsoever. They still return home feeling defeated because no miracle has occurred  and the economy has not gotten better since they went inside church . It is OK to leave your country in search of adventure , even UK citizen and Americans do it , but if your mission collapses be brave enough to accept that and return to wherever you came from else go somewhere else. Don't become the new local nuisance parasite again making  that place your new place of agony , and start another life of groaning and dishonesty because you have no job again.

The choice belongs to everybody like him of course. Standard of living in Nigeria is awful believe me but you can still make yourself comfortable with help of friends if you have any. If not hey at least go do early morning work cleaning office even though I hear these jobs are even scarce now. I cannot accept to be fed by a woman  wife or whatever  when I am able-bodied.

I guarantee you if you have the courage to return home you will make it - as long as you don't stay in Lagos searching for job. If you  stay one year in a sane town where you are paying equivalent of 1000 pounds a year to rent a whole house (when you pay the same amount in a year for a single room in London!!)  ideas will surface in your head quickly because you know that you don't want to go and suffer again in London.

Imagine someone without job in the UK,he comforts himself with the fact that he is in the UK(electricity,security and water 24/7) and one day the economy will be better he should get a job and for 2 yrs he is still there hoping.

The other person was once in the UK,left cos he realises all his active days is what the british system requires of a nigerian (dats why they help him with mortgage for all his life's worth) and as soon as he gets to nigeria he starts a small business and the business becomes big and he seemed comfortable until one day armed robbers invade his office and steals all he has worked for(if dem no kill am) and even borrowed to expand his growing business.

Pls tell me which one u go take ppl ?

FEAR is man's greatest problem and that is why most people never make anything out of their lives : I don't want to suffer, I don't want people to laugh at me, I don't want people to cheat me,  I don't want to lose money ,I don't want to be robbed, I don't want to die.
Which day you no go die. If anyone dies it is not because of whatever killed them it is because THEIR TIME IS SIMPLY UP THAT IS WHY THEY DIED. But it is better to die as a man than live as a worm.

How many people doing honest business and not living ostentatiously  do robbers kill every year in Naija even with all the terrible news you people hear up there. Very few. Don't people also die from criminals in UK ?

If a man (almost 50) is sitting at home and his wife is feeding him together with four children , he should be deported. It is a reflection that most people here in Uk have lost all shame . If this is happening in Naija now, we can excuse and say OK Naija na suffer - suffer country . But here we have ppl smiling and feeling funky (and even posting nice pix on internet) without job and not caring anymore because hey don't you know there is a recession ? that is why i am not earning a living. Do people ever get visa to serve tea ? After you have paid all your tax and bills tell me how much you have left if you are a person not employed in medical professions?  Now tell me if any of those your friends with no job have to return home next month (even next year) , how much will they have in pocket ? I was simply (just)wise enough to see that I was better off when I was living at home and cut my losses. Please let me leave you toget on with your work if you have one; I am here on pleasure visit.

How many Nigrians do I know in UK ? My friend I know London better than the Queen does and I worked six years there on good office jobs before I returned home fully convinced that I was in another slave farm  body and soul  and I thought I was enjoying. My only concern is for people who are still going to UK embassy to queue for visa in hope that they will be able to go earn pound sterling. If they put all that money they are wasting on a little enterprise at home most of them will be better off. But they prefer to go eat 99p chicken and chips which will make them fat and useless and wash corpses and gutters for a living. Haba !

This is what we are saying. People are just too lazy to do their own thinking. Other people's ideas will not work for you. Go inside yourself and find things that are unique about you or things that extremely interest you and try to sell it to other people. This is the way to independence. Yes my farm is my job ; but it is more than that . If I am not there I have people who takes care for me so it is not a job anymore - it is a BUSINESS. When I started it I had no money either but I had listening ears who were willing to help because they could feel my desire. Most people just expect to sit down and expect others to come to them with ideas and even money to finance the idea while they sit at home watching cable television and eating chicken and chips and perhaps going every week to collect "owo baba"because they don't have "job".
It is shameful my people.

Who is talking about job ? I am talking about earning a living as a decent human being instead of living like a parasite. People who have problems back at home are those who are not able to think beyond "job". There are dozens of other ways to earn a living other than looking endlessly for a job. Most people are just too lazy or proud to try them and then they go do worse things with themselves abroad. Get yourself out of the "job" trap guys and get off your lazy butts to earn money to maintain yourself. I have not had a "job" in more than 10 years, I have a fish and poultry farm and I am able to take holidays abroad.

Honestly I am honestly really pissed off. Visiting UK  and found two friends - grown up men in their 40s,  who have not had a job for almost two years and just living on their wives who are nurses. I am sure there are hundreds of similar instances like that all over. The Naija churches in London are filled with peeps wearing mournful looks and you can see that their lives are going nowhere because most don't have a job anymore but they are too proud to let anybody know that. Why can't people just get wise that they are living in fool's paradise And surprisingly there are thousands of youths in Naija warming up and spending their lives applying for visa under any kind of guise to go an earn pound sterling. London job market is more bombed than Lagos . At least at home you get sympathy and well perhaps nothing else but here in London there is "no paddy for jungle"

What are the available means of financing house purchase in Nigeria ? I have my eye on a house but don't have enough saved up for it.

I am going quite prematurely grey (I think) . Embarrassingly at thirty something I have lost 80% of my black hair and I look like my wife's father. I have tried Morgan's pomade but it is ineffective and has an odour that is not nice and everybody knows you are using it . Dyes are no use because I like to keep my hair short and so it will stain my head. I also hate skinning at the barber because it doesn't agree with my looks. . Problem is I have seen fifty something old men with not a single grey hair on their head and I feel they must be keeping a secret. Does anyone know how to permanently return grey hair back to black ?

Was there any agreement regarding how funds would be returned in the event of a failed visa application? Some schools tell you upfront that any deposit paid is non-refundable, so you should always make sure you are clear on what recourse you have if the visa application falls through.

Of course there was an agreement, we are not illiterate. Refund of deposit less administrative fee. They started by giving excuse that BHC has not given them OK to pay. We contacted BHC and then they said they have heard from BHC. Next they demanded payment account again and some very personal information which only a fraudster will be interested in . Then they finally agreed to pay and now for two months they have erected stonewall. No reply to correspondence anymore . Anyone can forward this page to them  at info@nwclondon.co.uk  if you think it will do anygood for them. They are behaving in a highly inethical way.
