Naaaah!! I will not give up my Nigerian passport for some Ecowas thing!! Naaah! |
denex:The increase in oil price is responsible for the new enabling enviroment. |
If you guys understand the core of this kidnapping issue, you will get a better picture of the depth of the problem. Many of you commenting have no knowledge of the Niger delta. The truth is that this boys are not fighting for any freedom because they are not held captive in anyway. The actions you see are a natural reaction to years of massive injustice and corruption. The government cannot attack the militants because the militants are now stronger than the government. Let me explain. Most of the militants now have oil wells they have taken over from the oil companies and are making huge Monies bunkering this crude at much lower prices to interested foreign buyers many of whom haves access to and supply the militants with high calibre weapons. Now if the government chooses to attack their base, the militants have the power to disrupt the Nigerian economy by simply dropping a missile on either a refinery, depot, or gas station. One missile will disrupt Nigeria'e economy for a while. That's why the governments hands are tied. The injustice in the area is unbearably wicked. You should see for yourself the mixture of billions of dollars worth of investment side by side very shanty settlements. All this kidnapping is a product of the wickedness of our past leaders, oil companies, and the Niger delta chiefs and politicians that have oiled their palms. I don't think the problem will stop soonest. I hope it does though. |
Apple always has its unique ways!! The Ipod is revolutionary,Macs are great,Pixar studios did Shrek, the Iphone is fantastic. I think $600 is a fair price 4 the Iphone.Bring it 2 9ja, and they'll be selling it 4 like $1000 i bet you!!!. |

I think I like the concept! I 'm a huge fan of value-driven creations and hence believe this site would work. The escrow plan would deter fraudsters. The auction pattern would prevent exorbitant charges. Nice.!Its a win win for both clients and service providers. |
Nice question, Nice answers. The amount you'll need would depend largely on the lifestyle you'd want to live and the nature of business you'd want to operate. Actually, you can come back to naija with 500,000, but you should be ready to live like the average civil servant nigerian. Take a house somewhere simple, enter public transport, have a very "unattractive" working space, and bear with NEPA. Don't expect much on ROI (return on investment). However, I'd advise you visit Nigeria for about three months, get a perfect understanding of the business environment b4 launching out, because if you fail, you'd hate that you came back. Sincerely, on the average, most of the amounts stated here are true. All would depend on the lifestyle u'd want 2 lead. |
naijaking1:He wasn't able to achieve the power thing b4 he left, but i think the foundation he laid with the 8 new power plants is encouraging and deserves some commendation. |
dayokanu:QThis guy is so funny how did he meet electricity and how did he leave it? just one question. Ans He met electricity in a very bad state. Now, you must realise that Nigeria's demand for electricity has increased radically since 99 for various reasons, one of which is the growing economy. As people get more prosperous, demand for electricity increases. But a simple answer to your question is that a dozen new power plants are been built around the country most of which are almost complete. This has never been done in Nigeria before. QOBJ's govt made the most money in the history of Nigeria and we did he do but to leave hopelessnees in the nation. Increasing fuel prices 10 times too is that political? Ans: If you do not deregulate the industry, private refineries cannot operate profitably. If fuel price is cheaper than production price, no investor will want to operate a refinery. And Nigeria needs private refineries.Hence, raising of fuel prices is a neccesary evil. QNo refinery working despite the fortune from crude oil . Now what are the outstanding economic performance? Ans:Who said no refinery is working? They are working to the best of their capacity.Although, I think OBJ should have done better in this regard Q and how did it affect the life of the common man sure we would be bored with the talk of GSM. So GSM in 8 years what an achiever Ans: Economic achievements are enormous. Do you know the effect of the banking consolidation? Do you know the effect of the pension fund administration? Do you know the effect of Local content? Salaries have increased tremendously.Nigerians abroad are rushing home in droves.A large middle class is emerging fast. The list is endless. Wake up man.The common man you are talking about now has the opportunity to start a calling center and make some cool profits!! Nigeria is changing fast economically and the world has begun to take note. |
Obasanjo did loads of great things in Nigeria.Haba people!!There's no other Nigerian president that performed in both ancient and recent history. People tend to forget the state of Nigeria pre 99.Nigeria was a huge mess.Huge huge mess!! The positives are so many. Truth is, his performance was outstanding economically. The only places he had problems was politically. And really, as far as I can eat, I don't care about politics. This is the first time since 1980 the Nigeria has moved in a positive direction and its funny because he left in 1979. Haba people! Be objective please,Obj has done Nigeria great good. |
She gat 2 know how 2 cook gooood!! I'm a great cook. She gat 2 be better than me. That don't mean she'd have 2 live the rest of her life in the kitchen. However, if a woman can't cook, then I believe there's a whole lot other things she can't do. Naaah , she's not a real woman!! Little or no value. Any woman that has brains, should cook good. |
@Obong Nice idea man. You might want to visit this site. http://www..com/about.htm Its a Nigerian site for Dogs.Very nice site. |
Forget about how this Church or that Church does this or has done that. The purpose of Christianity is not the organisation called Church but is You.Christ didn't die for Church, He died for you. God does not recognise you as a Catholic, Anglican, Protestant or whatever. He identifies you by the state of your heart which naturally determines whether or not you are walking with Him or working with sin. Truth is many Churches might have gotten things wrongly, but who are you to judge which is right or wrong.God is going to judge us and not the Church we belong. As per the Topic; You, pray your own prayer. How another person is praying should not be your problem.You-How are you praying? Do you pray at all? Do you commune with God at all. If you don't, what is the moral justification for castigating or judging others? There's none. I think we should all always go to the bible and seek the truth in genuineness for ourselves.God will help us to understand through his spirit. |
mrpataki:Thanks man for the explanation. Nice 2 know the meaning.I think I'm satisfied. I asked because the former Governor of New York(1995-2006) had the same name-George Pataki. And he's white. So I always wandered why an American answered a name that sounded Yoruba. Nice name though. mrpataki:I really wouldn't want to incur your wrath.I've seen u crush some folks on Nairaland. ![]() |
@Vicjustice I feel you man. Its a very honorable thing for anybody to try hard to protect people(even those not known to them) from fraudsters.I applaud the courage. The only problem I had with you, was the vehemently negative approach you were applying. You are quick to cast a slur on people without proper research first. Vikoviko for instance- His postings might not have been very professional, but Nairalanders that he met with seem to appreciate him so well. To tarnish the image of such a good man(according 2 Nairaland users), in the name of trying to protect people is not a very honorable thing. You really worked hard at trying to slander his image, and I think it was very, very improper. Anyways it's cool that you guys made up, but it would do more good for you to take out all the negative postings you made about him.I think he would appreciate it more. Keep fighting, but positively. Put a smile on people's faces, I think the World would be a better place that way. I saw your comments on the Calabar thread. Thanks a lot man. I appreciate it. |
maddock:Please, for your own good, don't go to the British embassy with an 80,000 naira balance on your bank statement. That can't even buy you a flight ticket. The balance is more important than the flow. The purpose of the balance is to prove that you have enough money to cover your expense and that you are comfortable enough in Nigeria, hence you would return. The reason for the importance of the flow is first , to support the authenticity of your balance (against bloating) and secondly,to prove that you have been engaged financially and the pattern of your engagement. Please don't go to the british embassy with a balance of N80,000. Get somebody that can act as a sponsor or get someone to place some good cash in your account on a regular and over a period, leave a healthy balance, print it , then go. Wish you da best!! |
HeHe, they are all here!!! " My Friends" indeed. @Imani No comments, besides the fact that i think you are gorgeous. @vicjustice I saw your post. I accept your warm handshake, but with very cold palms. And once again- "medicin san frontiers" and you gat all this time 2 be on Nairaland? Anyways, be kool and positive.Help the fella with some nice suggestions, if u gat any. Have a nice day. @Mrpataki Just curious. What's with the name? Please don't bark at me.It's just a question. @Armed-lion What's your deal?About 2 relocate when u're everywhere already?Greece, Germany, Baltics, Ireland, Spain,Wherenext. Anyways, it would have been cooler if you could conceal your multiple id's by having different personality types representing each ID.Make it kind of discreet.Be a little bit smart about it. It's against nairaland rules though. Take care and keep smiling. |
Egyptair!! I used it before.(not fromn london)It was kool. They put me in a nice hotel for one night though.Really cheap!! |
I really never liked the London skyline. It looks so industrial. Anyways, these are kool improvements. You know, most European cities (except those in maybe Germany) have major restrictions on skyscrapers. They usually restrict them to certain areas to preserve that historic look. Skyscrapers are a show of strength and wealth for any city. They might not be beautiful( lady-like) but they do really feel like they have some kind of arrogance and corkiness about them, yet they are elegant. @dblock There is some interesting architecture happening in the scandinavian, do u have any pictures or can you start a thread on that. Thanks man |
Man, If you get a visa-- Vamooose. Nigeria is not for Jobseekers. It's for budding entrepreneurs, already made business men, corrupt politicians, bunkerers, traders and area boys. Loads of Universities in the U.S would accept you for a post graduate degree. Best wishes |
Tourism has battered Spain.Too many tourists |
The exposure you get from life outside is just right. No comparisons. However, there is hardly a place like home.(depends on what home means 2 u) |
@4sight Davidylan is right. I don't understand why u are hitting at him.If as you said, your wife is Bahamian, you have no reason been here. It's much easier for her to file on your behalf. The main problem with getting a Bahamian Visa for a Nigerian, is the fact that before the Visa is issued , you would need to provide a transit visa of the country through which you'll pass to the Bahamas-Mostly, UK, US or German. Funnily, to obtain these transit visas, you'll need to provide proof of your Bahamian Visa. So it's almost a no-no both ways. However, been that your wife is Bahamian, I think she should go to the Bahamian Immigration office and ask them what she can do. The address is MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS Consular Section Norfolk House, Frederick Street P.O. Box N-3746 Nassau, Bahamas Phone: 242-323-5578/5565 Fax: 242-326-6186 But for better info, i'd advise you visit http://www.bahamas.com/bahamas/about/entryrequirements.aspx?sectionid=59196 [s]Worst still, if you really have to be with your wife in the Bahamas and nothing else works, you can go to Gambia, become a legitimate citizen and fly Visa free to the Bahamas.[/s] (disclaimer) Wish you the best |
You know its almost impossible to get a visa for a summer job from naija. But I guess I can give some options. For America, there is a cultural exchange program called Work and Travel. It's designed for students that want to work during summer. I used it sometime ago and it worked 4 me because I was studying in Europe. For you in Naija, I wouldn't advise you bother, however , its already late since we are in june now. Visit www.workandtravel.net Other much more suitable options would be either Teaching English( Paid option) in an Asian Country or Working as a Volunteer( non-paying options) in the Caribbean. The Visas for these options are easier. This is a very rich site, i guess you'll find loads of info there. www.transitionsabroad.com |
Afroil: Good if you bought it three months ago at 0.40. To buy it now at 9.00 would be a no no for me. |
I want to invest in Emerging markets around the world. I'm looking mainly at countries in Asia and Latin America and Central/Eastern Europe. Can anyone tell me the best performing stock markets in the world. Also, what other investments would you advise? - like Hedge funds,Private equity investments, etc. Finally, if you have ever invested in other emerging economies, can you please refer me to a reliable fund manager. Thanks |
Best performing stocks would depend on if you are a long term or short term investor. For me, long term investmesnts are ok, but cannot be compared in anyway with day trading. Peeps, you guys sound like you are so scared of risk.Only risk takers make big bucks. I wouldn't buy most of the bank shares mentioned here. Zenith appreciated about 250% in over 2years.That don't sound like the best investment to me, except for big players buying in multiple millions. Penny stocks actually perform much greater. Look at these: February 19th 2007 PERIOD June 05 2007 % Increase Afroil: 0.42 8.75 2080% Costain: 2:12 21.90 1033% Livestock feeds: 0.96 7.45 776% All these results are in a period of 4 months . Compare to banking or any other major stocks. Zenith 32.90 59.03 Less than 100%( although with good potentials) First Bank 41.90 40.40 Negative GTB 27.16 31.00 Barely 10% PHB 5.43 27.69 The only great performer My advice: Observe the markets PROPERLY and look beyond Banking!! NB The percentage calculations are not perfect but are close. |
I feel your pain! Anyways, don't ever wait for Nipost to bring stuff to your house. Go to a main post office in your area. Give them the tracking number. They'll find it, if it hasn't been stolen. When you get there, ask for the EMS section. They usually handle USPS packages. Truly NIPOST has improved somewhat. I have experienced USPS a couple of time and they, along with NIPOST and EMS have been ok 80% of the time. |
I need a short let, fully furnished mini flat/ single room in Abuja (Nice area) and Lagos ( Lekki and environs) for a period of 1- 2 months. Please if you have one or know of any, contact me on ctsnigeria@yahoo.com Thanks |
Don't worry, Mr Bassey, Sukieboy and all Calabarians. Your respect is gaining great ground.People are begining to recognise Calabar as the place to be. You should hear the good things people are saying about Calabar. You guys have Donald Duke to thank for the new positive Image. Wish every other place in Nigeria could brag like that. |
