PoliticsRe: 10,000 Capacity Multi-level Car-Park For MMIA by PapaBrowne(m): 4:24pm On Mar 02, 2013
What do they need a 10,000 capacity car park at an airport for? People don't live at an airport, and a small number of people work there. They should fix the roads to the airport first. Then expand the drive in, drive out spaces for people dropping off or getting picked up. That's how it's done. No one constructs a 10,000 capacity car park at an airport. People don't go to an airport for sightseeing.
You must feel smart.Sorry to burst that, you are just being smart by half.
Maybe you don't know that culture is one of the major factors you take into consideration when designing places. Nigeria has certain peculiarities very different from what would be obtainable in other countries. One of those peculiarities is our strong family ties and extended social circles.

While in many other countries you go to the airport alone with a taxi which drops you off and zooms away, in Nigeria you come with family or friends probably in one or two cars. When you arrive in other countries, you use one of the many existing public transport modes(Airport Taxis, Buses, etc). In Nigeria, a convoy of family and friends comes to meet you at the airport.

There were about 4 million International passengers last year through MMA. That equates to about 10,000 daily passengers. And that number is growing significantly every year. Now 10,000 passengers would mean about 10,000 cars a day. Now add that to the hundreds or thousands of workers at the airport and you will see the need for a 10,000 car park.

For the guy talking about fixing the MMA road, he should tell that to the Ministry of Works. Aviation Ministry would not dream less because the another ministry has other priorities.

Oh really. Wow. Interesting. It actually butresses the point that the more forward thinking and cosmopolitan states are at the forefront of banning Okada as a means of public transport. The interesting thing I realized in all the states concerned is that crime rate did not go up as a result rather the Okada riders found other ways to earn a living- many became taxi drivers.
PoliticsStates Without "Okada" by PapaBrowne(op):
Many states in Nigeria have literally phased out Okada as a means of commercial transportation from their major cities. The trend started probably in Abuja(not very sure if that's still the case). Rivers state was the next and at the time they started it, I thought it would be an impossible policy to implement. Now many other states have followed suit with the South south states leading the pack(5 out of 6 have phased out Okada-Edo is the exception) I visited Enugu this week and found it was totally devoid of the Okada menace. Lagos has tried to implement it, but only on a partial basis.

Interestingly, I have noticed that the more civilized, forward thinking and economically viable states in the country are the ones that have literally phased out Okada.
Some states made this move and boosted their public transport services considerably. On this I'll give specific kudos to Delta State. A fairly robust public transport system was introduced to replace the void left by the absence of Okadas. Enugu also did pretty good.

One interesting replacement for Okada has been Keke Tricycles. Do I like them, No. Capital No. Do they do a fairly good job at moving passengers, well maybe.

However, I think states are failing tremendously to see the benefits of Public Transportation as not just something to bequeath to the citizenry, but something that can earn the State a good amount of income that could be used to further develop the transport sector.

Lagos State for instance has at least 10 million residents that commute daily. Imagine the LASG, getting something like 20 naira from every commuter daily. That would amount to 20 Naira x 10 Million Commuters= 200 Million Naira Daily. In a month=6 Billion. In a year 72 Billion naira. Thats enough money to plough back into at least 20km of light rail which in turn would earn the state more money to plough back into even more KMs of light rail.

Anyways, a list of states that have gone beyond the use of Okada as a means of Public transport.(Fully or Partially)

Akwa Ibom
Bayelsa
Cross Rivers
Delta
Rivers
Imo
Enugu

Lagos

Abuja

More recently NIGER.

If you know of any other state not listed which has banned Okada, feel free to add to the list.

take dat: We should be thinking of how to concession out our international airports, instead of wasting public funds on a new car park!
Yes oh, that would make sense in a country that is willing to pay for public services. The last I checked, no infrastructure concession has been hitch free in Nigeria till date. MM2 has been problematic for the investors. Lekki Expressway is taking too long to complete. Lagos Ibadan had to be taken from the concessionaire. Infrastructure concession is at its infancy in Nigeria, so for things that have to be done urgently, you might as well just go ahead and do it yourself pending when the environment becomes more appealing for that.

We must give kudos where it is due. The minister of Aviation is working hard and we are here critisizing her works. Why not focus on those doing lottel or nothing? Whats happening in Steel, Education, FCT, Niger Delta,Health, Interior, Housing ministries and the few others that are performing in my opinion below par.
Lets encourage the performers and castigate the non performers. Agric, Aviation, Works, Trade & Investment, Finance currently stand out in this administration. Others like Foreign Affairs, Communications, Culture & Tourism etc are doing pretty good too.

Criticize right!!

asala1: What of the car pack at the MMA2 that is still under used? The fourth floor is mostly completely empty. Why waste money in building another one?
Next time you want to travel, go to MMA2 and park your car. Bring your bags down and walk the 2km journey to MMA1. When you get there 3 hrs later, kindly buy yourself another flight ticket as you would have missed the one you came to board. Nansensical comment. Not sure you pro'lly ever been at any of both airports. Not fair when you comment authoritatively on things you have no idea about.

If you've ever been at the airport, you'll know that MMA2 and MMA1 are two different airports entirely. Taxi from MMA2 to MMA1 COSTS 2,OOO Naira.
PoliticsRe: Is Creation Of APC Driving GEJ To Work Harder? by PapaBrowne(m): 5:29pm On Mar 01, 2013
The mistake most of you critics of this government made was judging the man too early as if it takes just one year to fix the rot that Shagari, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Obasanjo created in 30 years. Its is only natural that after about 2 years projects would start materialising. Alled the things you mentioned have been in the works ever since he came on board. There is work going on across the country and this man has done in 2 years more than what the rest of the presidents did in the last 2 decades. You can qoute me anywhere.

Let me narrate my story over the last few weeks:

I attended a conference on Agribusiness in Netherlands. I flew through Abuja Airport. On getting to Abuja Airport, my first since Jonathan came to power, I was amazed at the impressive remodelling works going on there. The last time I was there(2009), while it was typically much saner than MMA, it just wasnt something to be proud of.

On getting to the conference, there was talk about the changes in the Nigerian Agricultural landscape and the fact that given the changes, the world stands to benefit immensely from the strategy being applied by the current administration(specific emphasis on the Agric Minister Adesina). The specific talk was on Sorghum and how Nigeria is the largest producer of the crop(about 20% of world's total) which is being seen as the best replacement for Barley(in beer production) and Corn( in animal feed production). The talk was that in a few years Nigeria would earn billions of dollars from Sorghum because of the transformation in the Agriculture sector. I was the only Nigerian at the event.

I returned to Nigeria through Lagos Airport and I was welcomed by another round of Remodelling at the Murtala Mohammed Airport. You just wonder what all the past leaders of this country did to have ignored a place they fly through every moment. The remodelling, I hear is just a small piece of the grand plan. They are actually about to build brand new world class terminals in 5 cities. I flew from Lagos straight to the Benin Airport on my way to Awka. The Benin Airport is also being remodelled and has been completely transformed.

From Benin, my next stop was Awka to drop off my friend who was selected for the project she submitted on the YOUWIN Initiative. The training program started on tuesday the 27th. Her project is for 10 million naira and she simply just filled out the business plan template online and was selected for the quality of her business. She knows nobody in Abuja, she bribed nobody and she wasnt selected based on her ethnicity. She was selected simply on the merit of her business plan. This has never happened in Nigeria. I interacted with the various women at the training session and they all had the same story. This is one of the first government funded projects that is devoid of the usual Nigerian factor characterized by who you know and how much you paid.
ion
Anyways, after my interaction with, a few of these women, I headed for Enugu. Interestingly, the Government is fixing the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. I loved Enugu. I must commend the Governor. That city makes much of Lagos look like a serious joke of a habitat.

Yesterday, I returned to Lagos via road and was super impressed at the way the road looks. The smoothness is so impressive. The white line markings make you feel like you are on a foreign road. To think that just before Jonathan came to power, I almost slept in the bush in a hold up. I repeat
,there was a hold up in the bush. Yes it was that bad.

There is impact everywhere you look. And to think that this is just after less than 2 years of his tenure.

This year many of the projects in the pipeline would be ready. Nigerians would begin to appreciate the man they voted into power.

The most interesting of all is that many of the NIPPs are completing at the same time that the power sector has been handed over the the private sector. This year will be pretty interesting for Nigeria

abbakacici: The problem is that when a igbo man or woman is in the position of power and is time for appionment all the competant people miracliously become igbo
Are you sure it isn't because most of the time Igbos prove themselves beyond many others?? If you check, you will find that when Igbos hold technical positions they out perform. It is in political positions they usually underperform.

Lets take a look at these guys in Obasanjo's administration.

The best performers then were:
Okonjo Iweala.
Oby Ezekwesili.
Chukwuma Soludo
Dora Akunyili
El Rufai
Nuhu Ribadu
Omogui
Ernest Ndukwe

Most of the names there are Igbo. Yorubas and the South South have an endless list of potential performers too. But the northern case is so bad that even when you are thinking of Presidential candidates, you have very few technical performers to point to such that Buhari, a military dictator is seen as the only hope for the region.
PoliticsRe: Power Supply: FG Installs Three Power Sub-stations In Lagos by PapaBrowne(m): 11:31am On Feb 28, 2013
If previous Governments did their parts in the power sector like this Government has been doing, we would have been competing with Brazil for 100,000MW by now.
Every government from Shagari to Buhari to Babangida to Abacha totally ignored the power sector. Obasanjo tried but in 8 years he moved back and front and was learning the ropes. Yar Adua came and took us back to where Abacha left us.

Jonathan has done in 2 years in the power sector what 8 presidents couldn't do in 30 years. I can only imagine what it would feel like when all these projects are completed.

manny4life: Does Toyota cast their own engine block abi do they build it from scratch?

Does Toyota manufactures their own tires when Michelin, et al are there to manufacture tires?

While Toyota mold the dashboard, ALL components of the dash board from speedometer, gauges, radio, LCD displays, AC controls, I mean EVERYTHING, does Toyota do all those by themselves?

Sorry, I'm not buying you argument that Toyota manufacture different parts of the car, the ONLY thing they do is design and mold the car from steel and treat it. Every other thing else is OUTSOURCED by specification.

I mean everything has been take care off in the design phase, but for components such as nuts and bolts, mirrors, brakes, dashboard components, etc are bought just that they are bought by specification. For instance, Toyota may send a design spec to Michelin tires and say these are the components of the kind of tires we need.

They go to Rain-X company and tell them, look we need this specific type of wipers, can u do it? Meet up with Engine manufacturers, this is the spec of what we what, after all these arrive, they simply assemble all them together. That's just the ONLY difference ---- DESIGN.

After all, Boeing is an airplane manufacturer, but more than 90% of about 200,000 components is outsourced.
Leave that Blink182. The guy knows nothing. Even Apple doesnt manufacture IPhones and IPADs. Foxconn of Taiwan does the manufacturing. Even at that all the components are not manufactured by Foxconn. If manufacturing were the way Blink182 described, then companies like Intel(Chipmaker) would not exist.

Toyota operates what is termed a Just-In- Time manufacturing process. Because of this It tries as much as possible to encourage its suppliers to locate thier plants around it facilities, but it doesn't by itself manufacture majority of the components

blink182: my dear, when analysing these sort of things, you have to be completely objective.

Now if you can, this is what I want you to do.

Get a list of all federal government projects, get price and adjusted price quotations, then get a rough idea of what these projects should cost if a private business was to build them. When you get all these facts, I won't be there when you start weeping.

Nigerians are one and our leaders know this, they fight when they have to and become friends when it is necessary. You should try going to court to see how lawyers defend and oppose like they are going to get themselves killed but the moment they step out of the court, they become friends that they truly are. This is the spirit that should be implemented in politics too.

If you are objective enough, you won't kill yourself or get emotional even slightly.
How come you dont do that when it comes to Fashola. How come you dont see anything wrong with the ridiculous costs of road projects in Lagos??

Gbawe: Abeg show where I said the part in bold above. Rather, what you will find I have said many times here is that there are no saints in Nigerian politics. We have to manage our nation with the best of what we have, for now, to forge what we want. Saying they are all the same is just an unthinking misnomer that, if you and others thought about it, means you should not be here talking. If you believe they are all the same, then Nigerian is doomed and you don't need to be here telling us the same thing repeatedly.

That is why Musiwa gets a lot of mileage here. He believes "they are all the same" yet feels he can make a difference personally.

Others like me don't necessarily tout ourselves but we believe politicians exist who can make a difference and should be supported to do so.

People like you are simply the most tedious and most useless to Nigeria. You don't believe in anyone or anything yet will never offer yourself for service. All input is limited to boring others with the same doom and gloom message and suggesting everyone who is passionate about any Party/politician is gaining some financial remuneration from them. You have no passion for anything and wish to be pessimistic yet you hate that others are passionate and hopeful. Sad. Really sad because needless cynicism and apathy only breeds failure.
Hypocrisy at its finest!! Hypocrisy doesnt get finer than this.
When APC has Audu Ogbeh and Tom Ikimi as key drivers and ideologugues, you claimed they've repented and would be aligned into a new thinking of the "progressives". I would have agreed with you if the new thinking had been formed before they came in, but no, they have now been given the task of forming the ideology of the APC.

Now, a new group is emerging with a broader cross section of Nigerians and a more national outlook than the APC and your hypocrisy suddenly emerges to judge them with a different set of standards than you used on the APC. So much for rationalism.

Bias and Hypocrisy are two diseases that prevent people from seeing clearly and thinking rationally such that could have helped them in planning better strategies against their opponents. If you and the other APC fellas continue on this part of blinded reasoning, you would keep failing like you guys did in 2011. Tinubu shocked you guys then with his sudden support for Jonathan. Ribadu has probably shocked you here with his presence in this new group. I said it last time that Oshiomole has no place in APC, this new party is where he belongs and they will make APC look like a a gathering of secondary school students who failed JAMB and yet want to proceed to university.

payless: I beg your pardon punk. I already dropped it because the money is nothing to me. When people make statements that need response, then I will respond. You absolutely don't know me. How much is 10,000 naira? Not everyone who have bank account can go to the ATM and withdraw $1,000 in one day. I have that privilege to withdraw $1,000 or more in a day. You have to earn it to attain that level with the bank. Nigerians are educated and well paid here. Nigerians don't do menial jobs here except they don't have papers. Normally I don't send money like that. I have always have money in Nigeria but my mother who manages my finances in Nigeria is currently here with me for six months.

This is North Carolina bro.
Relax. I told you you left the country way too long ago. Me I left in 99 and came back in 06/07 and I had a slim bit of the kind of mentality you are displaying. Took me sometime to adjust. Nigeria has changed. OK. Did you say withdrawing $1000 is a priviledge in NC?? Well in Nigeria the withdrawal limit for most banks is 150,000 Naira($950) per day and here it is not a priviledge, it is a right. My bro, incase you dont know, Nigeria has changed since the price of oil increased. Money no be problem like before. Bankers earn pretty good. Private jets everywhere. Eko Atlantic city on the way. Ikoyi properties in millions of dollars. Transcorp hilton the most profitable hotel in the world. Dangote richer than Donald Trump and Mayor Bloomberg put together. 40 million interenet users, 4 million of which use Blackberries.

On a more serious note. Knock it off. To assuage your feelings, do as Zelinjo, the banker lady has said. Call the bank and make the said enquiries. Not only would it help you understand better, but it would also allow the bank serve other customers better and that way you would have contributed to the better of the potentially great country. And lest I forget to mention, that your American passport would in the near future have little value compared to our beloved green passport. Americans are already rushing down to Africa to partake in the new gold rush. Join the train bro. Come back home and contribute your quota.!!

payless: It is not a matter of being stubborn. It is a wrong thing for him to offer someone a bribe and for the guy to take it. Whatever happened there I don't know but I spoke on the phone with the officer to accept other IDs and he said no. I was surprised when I called back to hear from him that the officer helped him by paying him. I told him I don't see that as help because I was going to cancel it and find another option for him to get the money soonest. My problem was him offering bribe and them not accpeting other forms of IDs.
I get you. But the part you've continually missed out is what someone explained here earlier. The most likely possibility is that an account holder offered to stand surety for him in order for him to collect the money sine he doesn't have an accurate ID. I think that is permitted. The account holder probably then struck a deal with your brother which saw him part with 10,000 Naira to assuage for the risk the account holder has taken.
Now whoever the account holder is, I dont know. It could be the bank worker in question(very unlikely) or it could be someone the bank worker uses for such purposes and gets his cut afterwards, or it could just be an ordinary customer who saw your brother's desperation and either took advantage or took sympathy and offered to help.

About ID's, truth is the best forms of ID are International Paspport and driver's license. Reason being that they are the only two nationally standardised forms of ID. The national ID card is not a well presented document and could be easily faked on any basic computer. The Driver's License is much more difficult to fake. The International passport is almost impossible to fake. If you've seen the national ID card, you sef you will understand why they would reject it on many occasions. As for voters ID, forget it. It is just a laminated piece of paper.

You are stubborn. Gosh. Pretty obvious you've not been back in Nigeria for so long and you love to believe that it is animals that live out here!!
I put it to you, that it is literally "impossicant" for the bank to have collected a bribe from your brother to process his western union. Someone here expressly gave you the most likely picture of what must have happened and you are yapping yapping on and on.

Do you know how much people cash in Nigeria on the counter on a daily?? My guy, you've not been here in a while man.

A few weeks ago, I went to cash a cheque running in a few millions. The issuer of the cheque made a slight mistake.(He spelt my name wrongly)And he had travelled out of the country, but verified the cheque before he left. I begged the cashier that its just a slight mistake. Lie lie!! He wouldn't bend. T
Big question: why didnt he ask for a bribe? You know why, if he does, he might loose his 250k per month job. No banker would take that risk over just a 10,000 Naira bribe that your brother claimed to have offered. I like that you support and trust your brother, but heck, please ask the right questions. It makes your brother smarter and encourages him to be wiser. You will be doing him a favour if you asked him more questions.

I don't believe this story one inch. It is either your brother is deceiving you to get more money out of you or something is absolutely wrong.

First, we all go to banks everyday here in Nigeria. There is no bank that collects bribe to offer a service. It is absolutely impossible. The banks are one sector in Nigeria where corruption is at its barest minimum.

You have to ask your brother more questions. Banks in Nigeria wouldn't give you Western Union if your ID is incomplete and the aim is actually to protect you from falling victim to scammers. It would have cost almost nothing to get that license renewed.

And please why does your brother expect to access banking services without a valid ID CARD. In the country where you are based can you do anything without identification?? You cant even cash your paycheck without an ID. You cant even get a job without social security. You can hardly access healthcare without health Insurance. You cannot even stay in some hotels without a credit card. You cant do anything without identification.

Why on earth do you expect your brother to access services without identification. For your information, Nigeria is changing and many things you could get away with easy previously have become more difficult.

Proof of 3 trillion?? Calculate the budget over the past 6 years and include the loans and you'll see its much more than 3 trillion.

I wouldn't hold forth for Jonathan. Even though I think he has performed better than all the previous presidents, I think his Government is also very wasteful. Besides Nigeria is a very large and complex country and I cannot see all that is happening accroos board at the same time. But from what I have seen, his 2 years performance beats OBJ'S 8 years, Abacha's 5 years, Babangida's 8 years, Buhari's 2 years and Shagari's 4 years, same way Fashola's first 2 years were better than Tinubu's 8 years combined.

As for Lagos, sincerely, there is little improvement to justify Fahsola's 3 trillion. I have been in many cities worldwide and I have lived in a city that witnessed transformation in such a short period. Lagos is growing especially economically, but infrastructural development is crawling. If the city is to move at this pace, it would take another 70 years to bring the city to mere Johannesburg's standard.
But still I appreciate Fashola's effort because governance is collective and must involve the participation of the citizenry. Nigerians are not very good citizens so it makes the effort of good leaders look slow.
Why should it take a Chaougory who is originally Lebanese to dream up a wonderful project like this? Why are the wealthy Nigerians thinking of how to create new narratives like this Eko Atlantic?? If we had more Chaugoriys as Nigerians, the country would be better for it.

Without even any need to re-claim any land from the Atlantic, can anyone show pictures of his achievements? Lets wait if any of the 40 lapdogs will at least earn their pay today by posting pictures!
I am tired of the stupidity that runs on Nairaland.
The shortest man in that picture(the lion of Bourdillion) is the key partner in this project. He was Governor of Lagos for 8 years while Jonathan was Governor of Bayelsa for 1 and 1/2 years. I want you to show me what Tinubu did in his 8 years as governor of Lagos asides accumulating the wealth of the ordinary citizens.
About what Jonathan has done as president- I can show you numerous things scattered all over the country which are unprecedented in Nigeria's history.
Bill Clinton surely must have noticed that the Murtala Mohammed Airport has improved considerably since Jonathan came on board. He probably also read about the signing off of the power sector to private companies and he knows that that is good news for Nigerians. His foundation is very interested in Food security and has noticed the renewed efforts at improving Agriculture as pursued by Adesina the Agric Minister.

Fashola is doing pretty well but anytime I'm in Lagos, the city doesn't look like one which has expended about 3 trillion Naira over the last 6 years.
Lagos is a very small patch of Land and the equivalent of some local governments in some states. 3 Trillion should build world class infrastructure of the type you see in many asian countries. But all I see is a 50km dual carraige road in Lekki that is taking 8 years to complete and then a good number of repaired roads accross the city-- roads that were built in the days Lagos was capital. The new projects been built are taking forever to complete and dont seem like they would see the light of day anytime soon. Some should please show me new real time infrastructure projects that Fashola has complted in 6 years as Governor of Nigeria's richest state whose infrastructure has already been built by the Federal Government.

I dont want to derail the topic. I am proud of this moment in history. Lagos needs Eko Atlantic to stand shoulders amonst its peers worldwide. I am proud of the city and wish so bad for it to be completed on time. Happy also to see Jonathan, Tinubu and Fashola in the same picture put aside partisanship to support development.

If a PDP chairman whose Ideology was suited perfectly for the PDP is now the architect of APC's agenda, are we not going to end up with APC having an ideology that is simply the same as the PDP?

Awolowo had an ideological bend that defined the way the Action Group operated and succeeded. Ahmadu Bello had an ideology that defined the way his party operated. Audu Ogbeh's ideological bend is definitely PDP and it would definitely have reflection in the way APC would operate and fail or succeed.
PoliticsRe: NBS: NIGERIA GDP FELL FROM 7.43 TO 6.61 In 2012, ECONOMY SHRINK BY 0.68% In 2012 by PapaBrowne(m): 7:51am On Feb 21, 2013
You are a disgrace to Nigeria Educational system @ bold. 7.43% GDP is no where near the level you will call unsustainable. With other economies declining, we should be posting near double digits GDP figures. There is no way you will try to spin this, I am sorry. The events that befell 2012 in the country would clearly point to a possible decline in the GDP. Just have a look at the trend below.

Tell me, with a booming middle class, active work force, why can't we sustain a GDP of 7.4% or even 7% year on year? I do not know why you people are satisfied with mediocrity in that country undecided
Are you guys serious?? You posted a graph that clearly shows GDP growth in a consistently upward direction for 2012 and you are complaining about 6.6%?
Are you serious? And someone said we should grow at 15%? Do you understand economics at all? Even China tries to avoid overheated economic growth and sometimes takes adequate measures to slow down its growth. It is wicked and unfair for anyone that claims to understand economics to look at that graph and think the economy did badly in 2012. There was a dip in the first quarter and it was clearly attributable to the strike that happened in January.

In a year where the country experienced the highest security challenges the country has ever known and more bomb blasts than all the years after the civil war, we were still able to achieve an upward trajectory in GDP growth, that by any count is commendable. Imagine 2013, no bomb blasts, privatized power supply and a smooth road from the west to east(Nigeria's economic nerve), GDP growth rate would only go up.

For those seeking 15% growth rates, the table below shows the kind of countries that achieve such rates. Its a list of the top 10 growth achievers for 2012.I don't think I want Nigeria in that list of war torn liberated countries.
I'd rather Compare to the BRIC countries:
BRAZIL: 1.3% CHINA: 7.8% INDIA: 5.3% RUSSIA: 3.6% SOUTH AFRICA: 3.1%
Nigeria's 6.6% is a huge positive especially when you consider that it did not decline quarter by quarter.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Approves N384bn Severance Package For PHCN Workers by PapaBrowne(m): 7:16am On Feb 21, 2013
koruji: You guys need to cut the backslapping crap.

Privatizing these moribund bodies has been a long-standing affair that started in the days of IBB.
OBJ accomplished the most successful privatization of the communications sector by opening up wireless service.
OBJ tried and failed with NITEL, but the plans for PHCN was started back then too - most of the plants being readied for commission now were started then.
In fact, Yar'adua/GEJ slowed down progress in this area unnecessaryily

Before you jump up and down, it would be a good thing for GEJ to accomplish this.
However, the operative word is "ACCOMPLISH".
All these payments and re-arrangements are not the real accomplishments.
What Nigerians want to see with these reforms is "RAPID IMPROVEMENT OF POWER SUPPLY".
GEJ is making moves in that area, but it is not yet there.
Even the 4GW of capacity is not reaching the public consistently.
You guys will come here to proclaim periods when power supply reaches 4GW.
But we will not hear anything from you about the sharp decline in supply over the last few weeks, for example!!!

One more note - in a country where the focus is not on pilfering resources there is really no need to be paying off workers with this huge amount of money.
Given what I have seen so far under this administration - we will be talking about someone who made off with N50 billion of this money in 6 months time.
AND GEJ would not give a damn!!!

You need to explain who stole billions of dollars - I am sure you will find them in GEJ's company too!!!
While I agree with you that the process was started by OBJ(he only just laid the foundation), Jonathan would get all the credit for various reasons. Yar Adua came and destroyed whatever foundation OBJ laid. It has taken Jonathan more than gargantuan steps to correct the drawbacks that Yar Adua created.
Also, OBJ had 8 years to work the sector and failed woefully for much of that. Jonathan has been working on this for less than 3 years and is experiencing success after success after success.
We must give credit where it is due. You might not like Jonathan but he is recording successes in so many areas where other administrations have failed woefully. In comparison to our expectations, he might bbe falling short, but in comparison to all the past leaders combined, jonathan is making recording immense successes. Power, Agriculture, Roads, Rail, Aviation, you name it.

With the immmense successes recorded in the power sector, we hope Jonathan helps get this NEPA problem finally off our backs like OBJ did with telecoms.
