A 28-year old housewife, Mrs. Rita Esosa Ogbuenyi has landed in trouble for displaying her strength on her husband, Mr. Henshawell Ogbuenyi, 42, by intimidating and constantly beating him up in their matrimonial home.

The alleged assault took place at their matrimonial home located at House 18, Diamond Estate in Ikeja area of Lagos where they resided.

It was learnt that the husband married Rita some years back but did not know that she had enormous strength until she started beating him up constantly and eventually intimidated him.

It was gathered that whenever there was a little quarrel between Rita and her husband, Henshawell, she will grab him and beat him mercilessly until he becomes helpless and plead with her.

According their neighbours, the intimidation and beating continued but the husband was ashamed to reveal what he was passing through in his home.

However, the man became afraid that the constant beating by Rita might lead to his untimely death if she did not stop and he decided to open up.

Henshawell then went to the police and reported the intimidation and assault. Rita was arrested and charged to court for assault.

She was arraigned at Ogba Magistrates Court before the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka for the alleged offence.

The court granted Rita bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The court ordered that the surety must show evidence of tax payment tax in Lagos State.

The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John did not object to her bail condition because it was a bailable offence.

However, Rita was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 22 May, 2018.

I wonder why pastor Adeboye and his type are wasting their time on this issue of tithing.

Anyone who is truly born of God need not be compelled to give unto the Lord. And like the scripture says 'let everyone be fully persuaded'. A child of God could even give more than 10% if he so wishes but if he doesn't give up to that for unavoidable reasons, I see no sin in that.

But the way these Pentecostal pastors overemphasize tithing these days leaves one to wonder if it's all about God and not about themselves, families and ministries (businesses).

Take a look at the scenerio where a lady was almost stoned to death for her sin of adultery but Christ did not condemn her, that was Christ being liberal to the highest order. So, it is wrong to say Christ is neither liberal.

Christ did not establish christianity on earth only for the religion to be practiced in church buildings characterized by rituals, ordinances, religious laws and doctrines that will make people become conservatives. He established christianity strictly to give people eternal life freely. John 3:16

The young girl that was sent home in the other thread, may have understood this. She even say that, after a while she decided to attend church for the first time and she was refused entrance by church warders and she is happily going back home, knowing that she has her eternal life already given to her freely which is independent of the church.

In that case, who is gaining and who is loosing?

To me, it is the church that is loosing, because she is going back with her offering money.


I will say it is religion or the church that is neither liberal and they are clearly conservative in relation to how people should dress (especially women).

Now, if you take a look at the video the OP presented on this thread, i noticed that the vast majority of the members in that church are men (on suit), Putting on suit rather than some free style dressing is not bad.

But few of them in that congregation are women.
Why?
Because the pastor is simply conservative.
This is a common characteristics of the african society, we are living in mens world.
Women are not entitled to express themselves, not even through the way they choose to dress. Because if they try it,
They will be seen as loosed people(mostly men's opinion)
They will be seen immodest (mostly men's opinion)
They will give room for men to commit adultery with them. (women also thinks this way)

I don't think she was sent home, she was asked to get a jacket or a scarf to cover up with and she decided to gegely go home.

I have been in the east severally, I remember the last time I saw this happen, the lady was on the line for communion when the usher called her aside and asked her to get a scarf to cover up with, she simply went to her seat to see who had an extra scarf, then she went back to join the communion line.

the lady in question didn't want to stress herself.


lastly and more importantly modesty is a Christian practice not a traditional belief unless you understand that the tradition of the Church is Christian tradition. asking people to dress well in a religious setting is an excellent and laudable thing and you tagging it "traditional" is simply an attempt to give it a bad name so you can condemn it.

So, how do the church define a modest dressing?
Everyone knows what suit to be modest for themselves so long the dressing is not opening sensitive parts of the body.
Modest dressing should be subjective and not a general idea imposed to people.

A liberal minded church should focus on developing the human mind and not being excessively mindful of his or her outward appearance, what's their gain?

The easiest and quickest way to come out of financial curses, is by paying your tithes.

Bridesmaids put on sleeveless during marriages, no one is sending them parking. But a little girl who seems not to be celebrated put on sleeveless to church and you send her home saying her dressing is immodest.

Catholic tradition is wrong for sending that girl home, her dressing was not bad.

Catholics keep maintaining old traditions and beliefs that drives a lot of people into pentecostalism, yet they are the first to condemn the wrongs of pentecostals forgeting that they caused it in the first place.

It is believed in churches that because God can do miracles therefore he is always into miracles at all times. (therefore they keep singing, miracle working God.. )
I want to say that this is very wrong!
If God chooses not to perform any miracle again this modern day, no church can force him to continue doing so.
Many of us go to church today because of the miracles pastors have presented. But the truth is, God wanted us to be wondered by love this modern day and not miracles because love is far greater than any miracle we can ever think of. Intellectually or otherwise, love will always surpress miracles, fictions and diabolism.
And now, our pastors have used all manner of miracles to attract people to acquire undue wealth, they give people the impression that they can achieve anything through miracles including wealth, they begin to believe that wealth comes by chance or destiny so people don't want to work hard anymore.

So, billions of people prefer sitting in church to respond shouts of HALLELUJAH to some fake prophecies in order to mysteriously connect themselves to some miracles and claim an instant divine fortune, in the process, they miraculously use tithe for compulsory distortion of church members and miraculously become wealthy, acquire private jets and build schools that are not affordable to the poor.
(I'm not saying building school is bad, but if you must build schools, use your legitimate money to do so)
