nigerians are revered as the chinese of africa- we are all over, doing both legit and illegit, inasmuch as we are making the money. so, it is both a good and a sad story. A somali i met once told me that he wont be suprised if nigerians are the sponsors of the their piracy problem - a claim i strong dis-prove to him. the question is why do we travel this much , simply put, home is not conducive for our business |
On the one hand, As much as EFCC is not a debt-collecting agency, it is an agency for investigating and prosecuting an persons involved in financial crime whether it is commmited in the private sector or in d public sector, and i dare to say that having a loan to the tune of billions without having any intent to pay is a financial crime both for the debtor and those who are supposed to in charge of keeping the money but are the ones facilitating the fincancial crime (bank's management). On this, I will giv big kudo's to Mrs Waziri. On the other hand, I laugh when i heard Mrs Waziri said "EFCC recovered , " because i think this statement is wrong, would have appreciated if she says "EFCC helps bank to recover , ". It is just a way of taking credit for the work they didnt do coz in principle, the debtors didnt deny that they are owing, and all EFCC needed to do was to tell them, ' guys, we'll lock u up if u dont pay ur debts to the banks' . the real thieves are out there stealing billions and denying they ever stole and mrs farida isnt doing nothing abt them other than plea bargaining |
Pot calling the kettle black - are these people not the likes of Ndidi Elumelu?? wanting to settle scores or gain cheap popularity, first, clean up ur asses before doing it for another buddy. Note : i am not in anyway that the people they indicted are not corrupt |
the video is long, but it is worth it at the end |
pathetic!!! |
u only get to reap what u sow, he sowed strike as nlc leaders, and he is going to reap it. not against osshiomole or what he did as the labour leader by any manner of means just establishing the law of sowing and reaping is real |
watched d video and saw the rantings of a looser - u know how loosers whine about the referees all the time they loose. unsubstantiated arguments based on abstract thoughts and misrepresented facts just to make farakhan (and his fellow black loosers) feel good about their loosing position and blame it all on the "forces" unseen. America has committed a lot of atrocities, that is a truth, but i dont see a reason why you have to call bad food a "soakaway" in order to score a point - this in fact makes farakhan more evil than the the system he is accusing. he talks from an outsider perspective, and he talks on a meta -level about abstract unsubstantiated things, he believes in and makes up conspiracy thoeries all the time, and he never gave a real solution for all he criticisess- i just see him another bad whining looser |
after gani's death, he made some statements about gani (which in all honesty, i think is like shedding crocodile tears) but yesterday, he spoke about decentralization of powers, and in the papers today he warned that the appointment of wrong people to the Bench and retention of bad laws would make nonsense of the present administration’s avowed commitment to rule of law- and i cant agree any less with those two things he said. He also stated he is not interested in 2011 And that keeps me wondering - is maradona still at his game again (as i would think) or is he really suggesting the way forward for nigeria. Given the kind of influence the man has and the fact that his suggestions can be the commands to our leaders, if he says what we feel can move the country forward, can we support his advice now (while going against his personality), or should we say "to hell with his advice and personality"?? |

i am loving this news, that is what these kidnappers should have done since, i.e. target all those troubling Nigeria, kidnap them and let them have a sense of what it means to suffer. But on the other hand, let us think about the effect of this kidnap , 1) The money for the ransome will not be the politicians' money 2) This wont make the politicians stop looting us 3) this will further alienate the public from the politicians, coz the more they stay away from the public , the safer they are 4) this will give the politicians other means and justification to loot us more in the name of providing security for themselves - u can check out the kind of cars they wil buy now ,and cost of security men they will emplay 5) it takes this country further into anarchy, and if you dont know the implication of anarchy - check out what is happening in somalia. 6) Two wrongs wont make a right, solving crime by crime will lead us into more crimes, and this chain will continue until very many innocent nigerians will be the victim - dont be suprised, very soon, the kidnappers may kidnap ur father and ask for a ransom of just 10,000 naira Let me state here that i am happy the politicians are kidnapped, but i am afraid the joy is going to be shortlived coz of the far-reaching implication of what just happened my two cents |
up till now, the only nigeria tv station i can watch online is Loveworld (oyakhilome) and they are doing really good, but i m just not a fan of their prgrammes (religion), so, i am wondering whether there is a nigeria news tv station that i can see online (for freee), and hw i can connect to it. |
gani fought for the kind of human rights of the people that the west is not really concerned about, so, they didnt take notice of him- i bet both the myanmar and iranian ladies that won it (on the ground of fighting for human rights ) didnt do as much as gani, but here we go again, the west takes interest in myanmmar and iran, so, they will award anything to anybody that fights the govt there. |
back2back:yoruba pple wil say " moja mosa la fi n mo akinkanju loju ogun" - in other words, he who fights and run run away lives to fight another day!! FYI, Gani had to sneak out of the country a couple of times during abacha's regime, Soyinka (as u r aware) was out the country. some pple stayed back and never livedd to see their hopes and aspirations come true (saro wiwa, abiola). Staying back when you know you wil be killed is not bravery/courage rather stupidity |
i think falana should have stressed on them to be prosecuted for corruption, or in worst case, some of their choice personal properties which is not beneficial to the society to be siezed, not their schools or companies |
Although i am totally against the sale of children based on my moral and religious upbringing, but, let us just view the case from an opposite angle : is there any law against sale of children (inasmuch as you are not selling them to be abused e.g for prostitution and child labour), you are selling the child to a good family so that the child can have a better life. This is very similar (more or less ) to what is done in orphanage, but they dont just tagged it with "child sale". Selling a child into a good family should be normal. extending the argument to an extreme case is the issue of surrogate parents, sperm donors, ovary donors - this is the sale of life too in one form of the other, as it is with the sale of children. Let me state again, the views expreseed above arre not my personal views ( a lawyer will plead a case he doesnt believe in some times, and this is what im doing) |
the OBJ on the list is a joke (just another way to ridicule him) but since it is shifting the focus of the thread, i am removing it |
although, i know there is no one-size-fits-all yardstick to compare these pple and each of them are great pple (in their own right), but on a fairly general scale, who would u say is the greatest black man that ever lived (or is still livin) among these lots |
the economy of america (south carolina included), unemployment is high, banks failing etc, and all the so-called leader can do is to go about chasing pussies - i wonder how america wont finally fall -given the likes of this man in position. it would have been beeter if he had spend part of his holiday on skirt-chassing, but in this case, he is doing it during work hours -- chai and now, he is crying, forget the tears ooo, he should just resigh and retired to live happily together with his argentina mistress 4ever |
why is it that german profesors, chinese prof's, italian profs, spanish profs, brazilian profs can't speak and wwrite good english - to show you that english is not the main factor |
Nice write-up, this is one of the best criticisms of nigeria i have seen in years, the leaders are told their fault, so also, the followers, it not only highlight the problem, but the solution (if you read in btw d lines). i love it |
by cry , wat do u mean?? just tear drops from your eyes, or you doing that baa-baaa-baa-boo-boo-booo thing. If you mean tear drops, i can do that in front of anybody, even my kids (coz i am human), but that baa-baaa-baa-boo-boo-booo thing --NEVER, not in the presence of anybody, |
do a google image search on "jeddah boys" |
@poster: Instead of using the phrase "mixed drinks", i think cocktail is a better word |
RICHIE BOI:guy, dontt drew any parallel between nuhu ribadu and elumelu - they are opposite, Nuhu is being punished unjustly but elumelu , uhmm, llet's wait and see |
very soon, it will be the igala's turn to pack out, soon, yoruba, and soon after ibo - MEND has never been and will never be the solution. Even if true fedeation principle is followed in the determining the sharing of revenue in oil proceeds, MEND will still be operating shit coz they are not Niger-Delta nationalists, |
though, i am against toruture, but let them torture him a little so that he can spew, they did d same in US too coz of the country's survival (which they tagged security), and i think "torture" in this sense wil be ok for our country's economic and political survival God bless Nigeria |
outgrow wat?? there is no where on earth that pple dont protest against govt decision even in china and russia |
i am not taking sides in this argument coz i know Obj is not clean, but from the way elumelu was talking last year, i knew he wanted to gain cheap popularity using Obj, i never knew he was up to something more than the cheap popularity. @chidichris i will like to know where you stand in this matter, are you Obj is behind the innocent elumelu's ordeal (by ordering farida to arrest elumelu (which will indeed be interesting)) or what? and do you still maintain that all that elumelu said abt Obj in the power probe is right? @all please, miniise the use of personal abusive languages e.g. r u insane, u r mad, u r sick, stupid . this is an intelligient forum and let us act as if we are -lol |
there is ongoing research in the use of algae for production of a lot of things, though, primarily fuel, its advantages includes the fact it grows way lot faster than any plant you can think of - the problem is just how to migrate this algae production from labs to industrial - i mean large scale coordinated production. BTW, the present crude oil are algae sediments |
based on AGIP - any govt in power!!! personal interest above all |
