PoliticsRe: Kanu Asks Fg To Absorb Biafran Scientists by PeeDaVinci: 12:32pm On Mar 09, 2011
ibsorb "ghosts"huh
in this case, the problem is not about biafran or fulani scientists but focussed, purposeful and willing leadership which is able to impact a shared/common vision to nigerians. it was business as usual in eastern nigeria until they found a leader which is guiding them towards a cause -"becoming a new republic"

PoliticsRe: April Polls: Lynch anybody who attempts to rig, Buhari tells Nigerians by PeeDaVinci: 5:00pm On Mar 04, 2011
my take on this is very different  from the popular opinion about this issue
let me start by saying, I have always supported and will always support Nuhu Ribadu. With this issue, however, my opinion is outlined below
1)Legally, it is wrong to take the law into your hands, so, nobody is allowed to lynch another person, however, we do it anyways in nigeria
2)It is also, legally wrong to rig elections, however, it is the order of the day in my dear country
3)However, I find it funny to see all politicians all over the country makes such statement in one capacity or the other. Most esp in the south west, Awolowo and his followers strongly believe in lynching pple who try to rig election - reason for very wild southwest politics of those days
4) If you are not planning to rig election, you have no reason to be afraid (based on his statement)
5)If you are in Buhari's shoe, you will make the same statement too, given the fact that he has been rigged out twice before, so, he is just being passionate about protecting the sanctity of the vote of the electorate
6) The problem with his statement however is "misunderstanding", as many pple unread pple may interprete it as call to arms if he doesnt win the election

Ribadu all the way!!!!

PoliticsRe: Buhari Bakare Manifesto - The Best Ever! by PeeDaVinci: 1:23pm On Feb 24, 2011
impressive manifesto!!!!
just a few points to note
1) the manifesto does not consider the present reality. it speaks a lot on how to spend money very wisely, however, it didn't touch on how to raise the money (still depending on oil??)
2)the manifesto didnt touch on two important things  -  information technology(our systems in nigeria needs to be modernised), potable water supply
3)can only wish that BB do have the will and courage to do this

PoliticsRe: Ecuador Fines Chevron $8.6 Billion For Oil Pollution by PeeDaVinci: 12:43pm On Feb 15, 2011
I may be wrong though, but one thing I know is that, no matter the litigations and fines against oil companies in Nigeria, they (the companies) will end up paying nothing due to these:
1) The contract/term of operation in Nigeria. These companies operate as joint ventures with NNPC, and any levy fined on them (the companies) by the judiciary is a levy on the executive arm of govt too - not something the govt will be favourably disposed too. We must first change their contract b4 anything else
2) Our judiciary/legislature is a joke wrt the fine levied on shell. They did absolutely nothing to arrive at the figures. Such system wont work either

Love the Ecuadorian case though, meting out the same punishment USA meted out to BP

this political gimmick of gej wont work, he is as incompetent as waziri
PoliticsRe: For A Country That Does Not Have Much Resources, Uk Is A Rich Country. How ? by PeeDaVinci: 7:32pm On Feb 06, 2011
sorry for not reading any of the previous posts b4 making my comment (hence, this may be repetition of what others have said)

why uk is better?

1) they have accumulated wealth and have built up "infrastructures" over the centuries, and havent stop doing the same
2) education and knowledge (well trained human resources) - greater than any natural resources you can ever think of
3) they have political power (on the world stage) and have always use the power to control the world policies to their own advantage
4) good governance
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Commence Islamic Banking Soon – Sanusi by PeeDaVinci: 2:47pm On Feb 05, 2011
babaogun:
There is the Vatican Bank, embroiled with too much controversies, mostly fraud related and history of dealings with the mafia,

Vatican Bank
Set up by Pope Pius XII in 1942
Based in Vatican City, has no other branches, operates as offshore institution outside EU rules
Headed by professional banker overseen by commission of cardinals
No shareholders, no policy-making functions
All profits set aside for charitable or religious works
na wa ooo, babaogun, what is the relationship between christian banking and vatican bank?? islamic banking is a system of banking, like commercial banking, investment banking etc. and vatican bank is a bank and not a banking system, sir.
and by the way, there is no banking system, including islamic banking, that is insulated from corruption
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Commence Islamic Banking Soon – Sanusi by PeeDaVinci: 11:50am On Feb 05, 2011
great news for those who have been craving for it if it can be done!! However, I hope CBN will be fair to all i.e. they will subjected to every rules and regulations every other bank is subjected to. All banks should be equal

PoliticsRe: Breaking News : Governorship Candidate Shot Dead. by PeeDaVinci: 8:41am On Jan 29, 2011
The root causes of this (listed in order of importance by my opinion) which needs to be addressed are
1)The impression (which is true) that politics/being in govt  is a way to amass great wealth  instantaneously
2)Lack of security
3)Unemployment

Until these are addressed, esp the first one, political assasination will continue
PoliticsRe: Never Seen Before Biafran Picture by PeeDaVinci: 5:23pm On Jan 27, 2011
I can bet with anything that this in NOT, by any mean, photgraph taken during biafra. Mere glance of the pics quality, the man's dressing (dressing sense, style, and material) , the environment etc points to fact that this is a recent (1990 onwards) pics in a certain war-ravaged country.

Permit me to say, however that, worse things than seen in this pics happened during the biafran war

Are you serioushuh This is the first time Education is receiving the highest budget allocation in Nigeria and you are complaining!! We have a President that has just established 9 new Universities(There were just 27 FG Universities b4 now established in the last 60 years) and you are complaining. We have a President that approved N40 Billion for Research in Universities and you are complaining? All these in less than 1 year!!

We have had Presidents that have ignored the education sector, but Jonathan is surely not one of them!!!

abeg spare me bruv. who doesnt know all award shows has sentiments ingrained in it. why was martin scorcese denied an oscar for so long till 2009? why didnt the late 2 pac and biggie win grammys, yet will smith won a few? politics brother, politics. the fact an international body explains its voting process and purports to be transparent doent mean it cannot influence the outcome. wasnt the world cup bid transparent? why was england crying wolf, despite having the best facilities etc? wake up bro.
I will not like to draw issues with you about on the comparison you are making between the voting system for grammy and "the current" voting system for "footballer of the year". However, I will like you to read up on those voting processes b4 jumping into conclusion because of your pre-concieved prejudice. Will like to just say, this is an open system where all member countries present three reps which voted independently of , even, their country's influence - Yobo voted for Messi(1st), Sneidjer(2nd), and Maicon(3rd), Siasia voted for Iniesta(1st), Sneidjer(2nd) and Forlan(3rd),  and this is how it spreads over all the countries. So, it will be  nice to hear your conspiracy theory about the election was rigged/influenced by Fifa to impose Messi. Just be, please, sportsmanly in your views- that u seriously strongly believe that someone deserves it does not mean everybody all over the world will just think like you.

im not so sure about that, the way FIFA carry out their affairs. i remember a thierry henry being denied top honours on the basis on bombing for france and in the CL, despite being the best player in the world elsewhere. very similar to messi this year.

why cant we use the performance of his national team to judge? why did ronaldo win world player of the year in 2002, despite playing only a handful of games. world cup is the ultimate in football and always will be. FIFA got this wrong. you are clearly biased in saying that ,' People won't talk of xavi, iniesta if spain didn't win d world cup. Same wiv sneidjer if inter hadn't won d treble'. clearly.
I once posted this and I am posting it again with the aim of explainin the votin proccess
http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/classic/awards/01/36/25/40/ballondor_award_men_player_finalx.pdf
Each member country of fifa presents 3 representatives (their team captain, their coach and a sports journalist) , each of who votes independently for 3 world best players. Nigeria (Siasia, Yobo and one journalist ) voted too. The document above shows who voted for who - it is an open process, no magomago
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: World Best Player 2010(Lionel Messi);Do You Agree With Fifa? by PeeDaVinci: 12:50pm On Jan 11, 2011
The voting for the footballer of the year is a tranparent one
Check the link to see "who voted for who" for the ballon d'or award

You should see who our coach (siasia) and captain (yobo) and a nigerian sports journalist (audu samm) voted for

PoliticsRe: Buhari: Nigeria Lacks Visionary Leadership by PeeDaVinci: 1:57am On Dec 12, 2010
Buhari will always have my respect for what he stands for, however, the only 3 "cloudy" area of his life (to me) are
1) His human right record when he was in power (I will admit that those politicians needed and still needs such handling though)
2) His stance and view and sometimes, discriminatory remarks about religion
3)His role in PTF

Also, I am very skeptical about whether Buhari can give the kind of visionary leadership that Nigeria needs (same as with all other politicians too). I've never heard talk about his vision of Nigeria in 8 years time and the very concrete steps he is going to ttake to get us there if elected.

Will prefer if Buhari will just take a step back to become the "active" godfather of Ribadu, that will be soo sweet

Does anyone know that it costs about 1 naira to print 1 naira note? So there is neither a gain nor a loss per currency note printing. Unless you get a discount. grin grin grin
Printing money is not minting coins/notes, but just crediting and debiting some accounts the system (computer or paper), just a few clicks will do that
