Seen people get the same sentence in UK in the news, it is a pity I cant find the link to those convictions. So, don't let your "star-fan " emotion becloud your sense of judgement in this particular case.

maybe i should tell u my itinery tooo - my dad from is from kogi state, my mum ekiti, was born in ile-ife, had my primary education in Osogbo, my secondary education in Lagos, my undergraduate in Minna (during which i hardly go south), my service in Katsina, my first emploment in Lagos, b4 finally leaving the country for UK for my Masters and my PhD in Germany. I have visited kogi state 3 times in my entire lifetime - i dont even speak their language. I claim Kogi state coz my dad got the state of origin certificate for me, but, i know this wont be easy when he dies. I'm married to a aldy from Oyo State- dont have any kid now, and I am wondering whcih state my kids will claim in case they want to relocate and settle in nigeria-

historically, at least since when the documentation of nigeria population has begun under the british, the country's population has been abnormally high above every other african countries, and to even corroborate the fact, most of the people taken away during the slave trade are from nigeria especiallly the yorubas, that is why you find orisha, osun, oduduwa,yemoja, sango worship in cuba, el-savador in brazil, trinidad and tobago. that has led to to start wondering why is the population in this area of africa high !!! your response, please

i think this is a step in right direction but i think further steps need to be taken in order to complete the whole process, and the stpe is finding the most secure way of registering and authenticating users in order for yahoo bois/terrorist/child abusers/ bullys etc not to abuse this wondeful opportunity
govt should be able to track users and transactions going on online.

is it permitted in the nigerian constitution for the national assembly to handle civil cases and pronounce judgement at the end- considering these cases
- award of 1.5 billion dollar fine to shell
- banning of el rufai from holding public office
-ordering borishade to pay 5 billion naira (inspite of the fact that the case is still pending in court)
etc etc
and the disheartening part of this is the way the arrive at this decision, which is illogical. people who dont know the laws passing jusgement, i tire ooo


at the rate they are going, we are soon going to have the headline "national assembly awards death sentence to Bleep"

what is your opinion about iran having nuclear weapons?what are the implications of this (both positive and negative)? is this good for a counry (iran) that declares another country (isreal) should be wiped off the map? do you see Saudi going nuclear too because of this (as a result of the rivlary between saudi and iran? do you see other countries too going nuclear because of this? what is the implication of this on nuclear proliferation treaty? is this all leading us to apocalypse? clearly, iran is using diplomacy to buy time now in order to complete their nuclear program, and hence, change the terms/conditions of the diplomacy- do you see Obama being so gullible to fall for this Iran's trick or do you see Obama using the America's military option or its proxy (Israel), and what do you see as the role of Russia in this - as they are helping Iran to build their nuclear plant? do you see America's giving up on some of its Space Defence program in Poland, and its spreading influence in areas that are traditionally for russia in order to coerce russia to deisit from helping iran?? do you also see Netayahu bombing Iran's nuclear plants against U.S. wishes if he is elected, and what will the implications of this be?

i wonder how many of you commenting on this thread have seen where armed robbers operate b4, i wonder how many of you live in Lagos. in many streets in lagos, the gates of the streets get shut at 6:00 pm because of these armed robbers, you can t really sleep well with one little money in your house because of this pple, the first thing you think of wen you arrive in nigeria is how will pple not know that i "just arrived" coz of these same sets of pple, these same armed robbers kill, rape, maim, steal, etc, even the police station is not spared; I acknowlege that this is barbaric, but since the judiciary is weak, let the ppple take the laws for punishing these pple into their hands, although the unfortunate part of this is that the innocent can be mistaken for the robber but this also happens in judiciary too - that an innocent person will be pronouced guilty.

and for those of you who dont want to come back to nigeria coz of this barbaric act, my 10 cent advice is that dont come to nigeria in the first place because of those robbers, they'll kill you to take your money once they know that you just flew in, dem no dey hear say ur money dey bank coz that will make u even more guilty to them

so, dont condemn the pple carrying out the jungle justice, but condemn nigerian police and judiciary for not adequately protecting the pple to the extent that pple are driven to commit this "barbaric" act!!!

i agree that barbaric jungle justice is not good enough but what do u expect wen we have a weak judiciary (which only treats political cases), since civil justice is lame at the moment, let jungle justice continue

I wonder how influential/powerful President Yaradua is, Does he have as much political power that Obj had when he was the president, Is he able to control the politicians, senate, house of rep, military, church, mosques, banks etc the way Obj did. I am also wondering ,even with 2 years into his presidency, whether he has enough political muscle to slug it out with Obasanjo on the political battlefield. and lastly i am wondering if Yaradua can be returned as President if Obj decides to support Atiku in 2011

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, alleged on Monday that former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, had lobbied for the postponement of the 2007 presidential election so that he (Nnamani) could become acing president of Nigeria on the expiration of the tenure of then President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Iwu said through his press secretary, Andy Ezeani, in a statement in Abuja, that the former Senate president, who was next in the line of succession to the president and vice-president, had pleaded with him to tell Nigerians that the elections were not feasible at the scheduled time due to a combination of political and logistic reasons.

“According to Nnamani, if the elections were postponed and the tenure of the then President Olusegun Obasanjo expired on May 29, 2007, he (Nnamani) being Senate president and number three person on the hierarchy of political leadership, will automatically become president of the country in an interim government arrangement and will preside over the country until a new time table was worked out for the elections,” the statement said

Alleging that Nnamani had deployed “the most pitiable appeal to base sentiment,” the INEC chairman said the former Senate president had reminded him that both of them come from the same part of the country and his (Nnamani0 being president of an interim government of Nigeria will benefit “our people.”

Ezeani, who was responding to a recent criticism of the commission by Nnamnai, said the “then Senate president mounted pressure for his ambition to be Interim Government president for quite some time,” but maintained that his boss had “politely but firmly resisted the pitch by Chief Nnamani, always reminding him that there was no provision in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for an interim government.

“Furthermore,the INEC chairman insisted as he promised Nigerians that the 2007 elections must be held “even if it involved voters voting by raising their hands.”
Once it became clear to Chief Ken Nnamani that “his outlandish plot was not acceptable to Prof. Iwu, and that his permutation on interim government had no prospect,” the statement said, “he became very belligerent, with a determination to get even with Prof. Iwu. This is the basis of the bitterness in Chief Ken Nnamani, which he is yet to overcome.”

According to the INEC boss, the first step Nnamani took when his pitch for interim government leadership failed was to launch “a ridiculous probe of the election expenses of INEC barely few weeks after the elections. He pulled back from the misadventure of the election expenses probe when it was brought to his notice that the commission was still in the middle of paying for services for the elections.”

He said, however, that “Nnamani’s posturing over election contracts came face to face with reality when certain contractor-proxies were traced back to the Senate president,” adding that while the former Senate president “is regretting in his recent newspaper interviews that he did not arrest the leadership of INEC using powers he never had, the electoral commission still intends, with the completion of the work of the election petition tribunals, to prosecute the likes of the Chief Nnamani whose electoral offences in the 2007 elections are well documented.

“His being linked with the waylay of electoral materials made for the governorship election in Enugu State was not only unbecoming but will surely face due trial. Now that it has become necessary for the Nigerian public to be told in greater detail the true background to the frustration which such politicians as Nnamani face with Prof. Maurice Iwu and INEC, the commission is ready to let the world know the facts
