Some people are saying these defections won't affect the APC, because thousands of people aren't gathered.

But they believe that if only Wike decamps to APC that's equivalent to 1 million votes for the APC.

What do we call that huh
It’s delusion of highest grandeur grin

Lol!

But I thought Tinubu has ordered no more defection?

Why are they disobeying orders? grin

Meanwhile, this defection is clearly for state elections.

Akwa Ibom will vote Obi in presidential election.

Yeah! I understand where you're coming from. You have a strong point there. A good number of enlightened northern youths when asked who they'll vote for rather say they leave it to God. They are undecided because they know they just had their 8 years which didn't end well. Such people could be swayed towards Obi. But how many of such do we have? But still, the preachings of the Muslim clerics will determine alot
Obi doesn’t need to win in Northwest and Northeast.

The aim is to get him to consolidate on his strongholds of Southeast, Southsouth and North Ceentral and grab some 25% from Northwest and Northeast. Plus about 30% in Southwest (due to Christian voters) and he’s good to go.

Nobody is planning to make Obi win the core north, no.

You people sound as if BAT and APC are collectively the only option. If you do not want Muslim-Muslim ticket, vote either for Muslim-Christian ticket or for Christian-Muslim ticket. Stop acting as if there are no alternatives. Or, are you indirectly saying your vote must be for APC whether good or bad?

I judge a candidate based on his or her ability to manage public funds well, not based on religion. My points against BAT are as follows. BAT will enthrone more oluomos that will manhandle humans and suck public fund dry. He is old and does not seem fit enough for the office. Bullion vans are not a sign of integrity. Age falsification and certificate saga are not a sign of transparency. LCC company's action and his silence during EndSARS are suspicious. Who he picks as a running mate does not make any difference as long as he is the head.

Even if BAT is a Christian or chooses a Christian as a running mate, I will not vote for him. Even if Obi is a Muslim and chooses a Muslim as a running mate, I will vote for him as long as he has the reputation he has now.
You have a point.

Except that it matters that there’s a balance between the two major religions in a multi religious country like Nigeria. You can wish the valid sensibilities of millions of Nigerian Christians away; just like you can’t do same to Muslims.

Can you?

All fake.
All fake.
This OP is clearly deluded.
You analysed the election forgetting that APC controls many of these states and will do whatever it takes to make their party, not tribe, party, to win.

Have you even taken time to understand the meaning of grassroot politics?

Do you think that when the campaign starts, Obi will continue to trend?if yes then my first statement was correct indeed.

Tinubu is a product and project of the northern governors. Tinubu is a destiny child of the South West and in fact, with Ayo Fayose in the basket I can't see any loop hole on Tinubu's total victory in the SW.

You talk about the election forgetting that no true politician can ever trust Peter Obi to the point of working for his victory. He will definitely lose the South South and South East. Was he not in PDP when Apga won Anambra election? Or do you think Apga has no candidate for the presidency? Or do you think there will be no last minute resolution between Tinubu and Apga leaders ? Haven't you seen the handwriting of these South East and South South politicians on the wall? Or is Wike's open identification with APC not any indication to you?

In case you didn't realise it my dear angry youth, the online and offline supporters of Peter Obi are only day dreaming. The real voters are not swayed by your cyber bullying. When push comes to shove, you'll realise what politics is all about. And I trust Tinubu to do his homework very well.

There is a reason APC unanimously voted for Tinubu as their presidential candidate, and that's becasue he knows how to manoeuvre very difficult political terrains and still come out victorious.

In this case, he will.
You are so out of touch with reality.

These are all political elites. I see 2023 elections going beyond these people. 2023 elections is fully in the hands of the populace. These elites you mentioned wouldn't make so much of a difference for Obi in the north
As much as I believe this, the attitude of northern voters would make that thinking not entirely true.

You know why? Because most of them rely on the direction of Imams to cast their votes.

I was on BBC Hausa yesterday and majority of them on the comments section were leaving things to Allah. That’s where Imams come in. Because these Imams will now be used to tell those ones that are waiting for Allah’s direction to vote for a particular candidate.

What this means is that in the north, the contest goes down, largely, to who has more Imams preaching his case in northern mosques.

Now, when you realize that most of these Imams are loyal to most of the elites, then you’d realize the role that the elites will play in deciding when northern votes will go.

This is totally unlike southern voters who largely have mind of their own and might not necessarily wait for the direction of their pastor or any elite before they make their decision.

Tell Tinubu to choose Elrufai make him (Elrufai) explain to Nigerians why we should allow him near the presidency after he shunned religious sentiments in Kaduna and ran a Muslim-Muslim ticket and has influenced his party to repeat it in his state in the 2023 elections. Also, he’d have to explain to Nigerians why the killings in Southern Kaduna has gone on without consequences for perpetrators.

Or ask Tinubu to choose Shettima so that he would tell Nigerians the truth about what happened in Chibok.

Obi’s supporters are only attacking the north in your head and Reno Omokri’s head.

Kwankwaso is a man of himself, he is not the north. So attack on Kwankwaso is not attack on the north.

Except you agree therefore, that the vile words you all have been saying of Obi also translates to insult on the southeast.

And that when you people carried a coffin with Jonathan’s picture on it during the electioneering of 2015, you people were carrying the entire Southsouth in your coffin.

It’s obvious to me now that these people are always never in tune with the reality on ground.

Or how else would you explain the fact Kwankwaso seemed to have been totally unaware of Obi’s popularity among the Nigerian youths across the country which is why he was trying so much to paint Peter Obi as a southeast candidate and all other trash he talked.

Now, Nigerians know that Kwankwaso is just another ethnic jingoist.

LP shouldn't be overlooked. They talked about a third force, LP are the third force. 2023 will be interesting

Have you seen the thread of an Imam campaigning against Tinubu and Atiku?

It’s the prelude to what is coming.

Obasanjo is on Obi’s case.

Northern Elder’s Forum has bought into the Obi project.

Datti is Son-in-law to Gen Aliyu Gusau.

TY Danjuma is a Christian that is tired of what is going on.

Obasanjo was accused of planning to meet IBB for Obi.

When these forces align, Imams will be instructed on what to preach and who to campaign for and you would be surprised at the numbers that will come from the north at the end of the day.

I just hope Atiku gives him enough money to last him a lifetime because nobody will ever take him serious again.

In fact he should pray for Atiku to win the election because if Atiku doesn’t then his (Reno) career, political or otherwise, is finished in Nigeria forever.

Politics › Re: Probable Outcome Of 2023 Presidential Elections by Penguin2: 2:27am On Jul 10, 2022
OP slashed Peter Obi’s percentage across the regions and he still won.

Peter Obi is getting nothing less than 15% in NE.

With Datti Baba-Ahmed and Northern Elders Forum about to get to work on Obi case, believe me when I tell you that Obi should come out with nothing less than 25% of votes in NW.

Then Obi should win NC slightly by about 40%.

Score about 80/85% of votes in SE.

60% in SS.

And maybe 25% in Southwest.

2023 is Obi’s to lose.

The prediction is quite realistic except that Tinubu will not win Kebbi, Niger and Zamfara.

Again the winning margin for Peter Obi in his stronghold was slightly reduced. I understand the OP is trying to be cautious but Obi will win with higher margins in his stronghold.

As much as I think there might be a run off election, Peter Obi might still win at first ballot.

The more you insult them, the more they're encouraged to gang up against you. Even if they're all agberos, I fail to see how insulting them makes things better for Peter Obi. Why not concentrate on saying good things about Peter and telling everyone why BAT is a wrong choice? That's the basic nature of campaign, not insulting the people you should be wooing. So I’ve been doing some kind of research on Facebook like I do every Saturday when I have time to spare and today I decided to check the BBC handles of BBC Yoruba and Hausa.

In BBC Yoruba, I saw opinion divided almost into two equal halves in their support for Tinubu and Peter Obi; and I’m talking about people with Yoruba names. I didn’t find that surprising and that’s why it’s not my topic of post here.

What I find interesting is what I found in BBC Hausa. They posted of video of Sen. Datti speaking in Hausa and calling on northerners to choose competence over ethnicity and religious considerations and I can tell you authoritatively that a quarter of respondents are malleable to the idea already while majority are rooting for Kwankwaso and the rest leaving things to Allah to decide what’s best for Nigeria (those people are religious and it’s people like them that Imams will instruct where to vote which would reduce the contest to who has more Imams behind him).

NB: most of them wrote in Hausa and I always had to resort to using Facebook translator.

Note also that we are just 24hrs into Datti’s unveiling. By the time he’s done talking to northerners, a quarter of them will be singing competence over primordial considerations.
