Olayinkaoj: To avoid being banned, please ensure that your post is not offensive to Islam From the preceeding explanation, it was clear that the muslims weren't facing tribulations only from the Idol worshippers alone, they were equally seen as threat that must be neutralized by the jews and christain nations existing at that time. Except a few like the righteous Christain King Heracules of Abyssinia, words have gone out to other strong Nations to extaminate the light of Islam. So u have strong Nations like the Roman,Greek,Persian Empires preparing for war against a few numbers of Muslims. The only remaining choice was to fight in defence of their religion, especially when the hope in the peace treaty has faded away. So Allah says- " Fight those who do not believe in God, nor in the Last Day, for, otherwise, they would have believed in the Prophet (s), and who do not forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden, [such as wine, nor do they practise the religion of truth, the firm one, the religion of Islam] — from among of those who have been given the Scripture, namely, the Jews and the Christians, until they pay the jizya (tribute, the annual tax imposed them, readily or being subdued, [being made] submissive and compliant to the authority of Islam. The options with the People of Scripture is that if the muslims were not to engage them in war then they will be protected with justice under an Islamic rule and they will only be obligated to pay annual tax as a symbol of cooperation to the authority. From the above, it is only normal to protect yourself, your honour, your religion against a force bent on uprooting you. And it is equally a sign of extending the hands of fellowship to your enemy that at the very verge of confrontation you give the choice to avoid bloodshed by the payment of annual tribute while been subjugated! 1 Like |

Olayinkaoj: To avoid being banned, please ensure that your post is not offensive to IslamOpen your heart as I attempt to clear your doubts- On this verse you have to comprehend it in line with the content of the immediate preceeding verse(verse 4). We will come back to that later. This verse as been wrongly thought to justify unwarranted killing in Islam. No, that is wrong! There is a history behind this! The muslims were tortured in Makkah and had to migrate to a foreing land in Medina. Getting there, they entered a peace treaty with 3 different Jewish clans namely Banu Khurayza, Banu Qaynuka and Banu Nadhir. Howerver, Banu Nadhir was d only tribe to hold on to the treaty while the other two did not only betrayed the muslims, they attempted killing the prophet severally. Example was when they connived to throw a big rock on the messenger's head while reclining underneath a tree. They also connived with the polytheist disbelievers from the prophet's birth place of Makkah whom the prophet had had a peace deal with during a treaty at the outskirt of Makkah refered to as Hudaybiyah. In essence, the muslims were betrayed and wrongly persecuted so Allah revealed in verse 4- Allah says - " Except those polytheist whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you,nor have supported anyone against you.So fufill their treaty to them to the end of their term.Surely,Allah loves the pious" Muslims, abinitio have been forbidden to fight especially in the Sacred Months(of lunar calender- the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th months). But the polytheist took advantage of this concessions and waged war endlessly against the Muslims. So Allah says" Then when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheist wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them ,and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-salat,then leave their way free. Verily Allah is Oft Forgiving,Most Merciful." U have to know that the Mushrikun(polytheist) are different(then) from the people of the scriptures( Jews and Christains).Again, all these war are neccesary to safeguard the lifes of the muslims after period of unparalled torture and endurance. Allah is the Source of Guidance! 1 Like |

No matter the hate towards the North and its proposed developmental strides, we cannot rule it out that the North just like the South still belongs to one Entity called Nigeria. Expolration of the oil in the North just like we already have in the south should gladen our heart as Nigerians not as tribalist. They are mutually exclusive events; the successes of which will both benefit us all in the short and long run. I was happy Ghana found oil despite our seeming geograhical difference and age-long superiority tursle. The Boko Haram are our collective enemy just like all corrupt national lifes. In the North, the food item found predominantly in the south like fresh corn now abounds everywhere. In Abuja as a case study, u get fresh corn everyday at the cheapest rate ever(4 matured corn for N150). This wasn't obtainable in d past. And I pray to live long enough to see groundnut, millet, kola, tomatoes, onions abundantly been produced in comercial volumns in the swampy terrain in the South south. We can be successful and united together with or without the oil. The heaven is wide enough for us all to fly! 4 Likes |

signalpower: sometimes i ask myself were do an islam or Muslim go after death. After death, there is a transient life in the grave and The Day of Judgement comes at an appointed time. The "eventual" destination of a muslim is Paradise wherein he will abide forever. No one enters this Paradise except a believer in the Oneness of God just like Adam,Noah,Abraham,Moses,Jesus and Muhammad(peace on them )all believed. The destination of the disbelievers in the Unity of God is Hell. They will abide in eternally forever. |

ashson: SUNNAH OF DRINKING@OP, u ve indeed admonished us wt this! Jazakallahu khairan. In addition to this is to avoid extravagance in the act of drinking(and in life affairs generally). Allah says-" O ye children of Adam! Take your (best)apparel to prayer, and EAT and DRINK but don't be wasteful! Wastefulness in drinking involves (1) Buying or taking Intoxicants. Allah condemns the one that produces it,sell it,package it,convey and DRINK it. So drinking what is Halal is the pinnacle of Etiquette. And there exist a correlation btw what a man drinks and the acceptance of Prayer. In the hadith in which the Prophet narrated an old man who raises his hand in the wilderness saying "Allah,Allah). How will his prayer be answered?",the Prophet asked. For he eats haram, wears what's haram and drinks haram".(2) When we drink too we should avoid wastage. We should drink when and what is needed. The prophet do not eat or drink except when hungry or thirsty. And also manages is bowel well by having 1/3 for eating, 1/3 for water and d rest for air space. Statistics shows up to 7% of water is wasted through ill management of drinking habit. Allah is the source of Guidance. 1 Like |

Olayinkaoj:U are mistaken. No apology because those verses are part of the Qur'an. There is what we refer to as 'Asbab al Nuzul". It means the circumstances surrounding the revelation of a verse(s). These verses are not to be understood without scholastic interpretation and exegesis. Reference has to be made as to (1) What necessitated such revelation? (2) Was the cause for which the verses were revealed still applies or was the verse abrogated. E.g Allah says " Do not move near prayer when u are drunk". This does not outrightly prohibited drinking Alcohol. Later Allah forbade it total when He says "Verily,in intoxicants,gambling..... are handy works of d devil, avoid them so u may prosper". In this light, most of the verses quoted were revealled in Makkah not Medina. In Makkah, muslim were persecuted from the hands of polytheists and holders of scriptures. They were instructed to save their lives. |
