European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: The Great Debate: Where Should Victor Moses Go? by persius555(m): 10:15am On Aug 29, 2015
Moses should flee across the red sea to midian where he would seek the face of god on mountain horeb. Or better still he should come to nigeria to fast and pray that pedro succumbs to long term injury.

Politics › Re: Buhari : Is This Warning By Yoruba Elders Coming To Pass ? by persius555(m): 5:37am On Aug 29, 2015
The same yoruba elders that sold their soul and future of nigeria to a corrupt and wasteful party like PDP. Please, nigerians would not fall for that ethnic scam again. Now, we know better. PMB, despite his often northern preference and affinity for nominating office holders of northern extract is still a better option than the band of looters and criminal bandits pulled together from all corners of the country to form the core of PDP. So long as PMB delivers good governance that nigerians have long yearned for, the so-called elders can come back when they have learnt a lesson or two about genuine leadership. For now, PMB is a better choice for reasons we all know.

My worries is that we are not too sure if NA and DSS are actually gathering vital intel from these fight or just shot at site etc
the security agencies have more than enough intels. What worries me is the continue unnecessary secrecy approach they would rather adopt in this fight. The public is virtually isolated as to what or who to look out for as a potential threat. Maybe this approach suits the agency's approach to tackling the problem. So far so good, the agencies are doing a good job, but wish the public was more involved.

He admitted that the process took a period of six months, dating back to former President, Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, adding “the process was rigorous as they looked at many issues including, land, investment, technical competence, design and a host of many others.”

So the "clueless" one has been working silently in the background without noise or fanfare?

Honestly Buhari should have a walk in the park governing Nigeria. He doesn't have to do much. Let him just relax and continue GEJ policies because all the sacrifices of Jonathan are already yielding fruits.

We should have been patient with Uncle Jo. He clearly knew what he was doing. From Auto policies to Agricultural growth to improvement in Power generation and modular refineries to spur growth locally. Almajiri Schools, new universities nationwide, FOI bill.

Is it the new airports or the attempts to open the East to the world? Enugu international airport and the commencement of the 2nd Niger bridge? He even impacted on the rail sector smiley. All these in 5 years under war.

If only the demons that control the media don't toy with the uneducated Nigerians. Strangely enough they shout corruption but Transparency international thinks otherwise!!! Our corruption rating has drastically reduced from 1st position during Obasanjo's reign to 43rd under Jonathan!!!

Painful enough Jonathan isn't around to reap the fruits of his labour. All these things he accomplished even when the demons from the North kept terrorising. Something one old fool with otapiapia mouth couldn't achieve in 8 peaceful years!!

God bless you Jonathan. We the simple people who are not sophisticated neither born to rule acknowledge your efforts in building Nigeria. We acknowledge no other president has attempted to tackle Nigeria's multi-faceted issues the way you did.

We only pray your successor can build on your foundation... unless he is a dullard as they say.
Nigerias grouse is not with jonathan but with PDP. PDP is a cursed party.
Business › Re: Naira Needs Devaluation - Segun Agbaje, GTBank CEO by persius555(m): 10:09am On Aug 28, 2015
KoloOyinbo:
Thank you for your very illustrative graph on the Historic Exchange Rate. (see above folks)

The influx of 'petro dollars' etc should have strengthened the Naira but instead it continued to weaken! (Wonder where the benefit all went - I think we all know and those people got rejected!) I had realised this in general while changing money during my many visits over the years but your graph illustrated it to perfection!
This is the irony of a corruption infested economy. Majority of the forex gotten from petro dollar was not genuinely invested in our local industry which will enable us have firm control of our own economic indices, but alas majority of these funds were shared among corrupt govt cronies and they probably found their way back to foreign banks.

The last election was more of an avenue to loot the treasury empty in case the govt wins or loses. The ripple effect is what we are seeing now. To compound the situation, global oil price is falling to an all time low in five years. The good thing is we were smart enough to reject the wasteful govt.

We are at a point of strategic, genuine economic rebuilding. The likes of Segun Agbaje should be partnering with the CBN to ensure we get our industries working to the best of our local capability, instead of suggesting awkward currency policy that only favors their likes and hurt the people and the economy. It take national pride and sacrifice and that is what these guys dont have.

A 10% devaluation which will put the official exchange rate at about N220 to a dollar will allow the naira to settle? Even if our quest for rubbish imports remains the same?

Why are they all focusing on the demand side and not the supply side?

Why are they not talking about the refineries, textile factories, rice mills and stopping importing rubbish?
Thank you for highlighting this point. These so called policy makers and economic brokers have their greedy eyes permanently focused on the demand angle forgetting that lesser demand equates to excess supply of the dollar. Obviously this will gradually reduce their annual profit

Do we need to employ foreign economic advicers to strongly strike home this aspect of the economy into their skull. Get the refineries working, ensure adequate power supply, provide loans to kick off agricultural transformation via mechanised investment. These bankers are just too lazy and no one will quench their thirst for foreign imports they are addicted to.

I am glad the president is going ahead with granting refinery licenses to investors. The same way the western economies are using all within their disposals to control the global economy, we should equal put in place measures that will cushion the ripple effect of a stronger dollar.

Tinubu has a long history of destroying his foes in politics, but with BRF i am afraid who overstepped his boundary. Instead of consolidating on the achievements and glory of APC in lagos in the last eight years, jagaban decides to play his usual politics of vendetta and hate. This will not argur well for APC in the entire south west. Tinubu will end up destroying what he created. As for ambode, the big fat houseboy himself should know that all eyes are on him, the last election that brought him into power is a clear indication that the voters will not hesitate to vote him and his party out going by the division his tactics is likely to create in lagos.

The american economy was built by entrepeneurs who saw opportunities and invested. Every big company out there was started by an entrepeneur. Entrepeneurship and paid job go hand in hand. It takes the innovative mind of an entrepeneur to see opportunities that lurk around. Zuckerberg saw an apportunity in social media and pounced on it, today it has over 25,000 work force indirectly or directly. The same goes for microsoft, google, dangote, guiness etc. Entrepeneurship to me is experimentation, failure or sucess, its worth a try. It takes the brilliance of an entrepeneur to convert orange fruit into packaged juice. The most sucessful people in the US are the jews and they are entrepeneurs on their own right, so also are the igbos in nigeria. Though, a lot of businesses fail, every try is worth it.

With a federal job, you're less likely to be fired without notice or some flimsy 'downsizing' policy. It also does come with some 'benefits'. However, in the end of the day, it's your choice to make. Think through it.
Just to add to his point. You are about to become redundant and unproductive to the nation. All what civil servants care about is promotion and salary increase. That is what civil service is all about here in nigeria.

You are right. PMB's govt needs to look into the modus operandi of this cult like arm of NPF. It is acts like this that label the country as a terrorism friendly country. Police brutality is the last thing this govt needs. All the SARS HQ natinwide should be looked into and possibly disbanded and all officers with a history assignment should be investigated. This is the 21st century and not the napoleon era. We cannot afford another boko haram self-styled uprising in this country. It will be foolish on the path of the govt to forget that such police high handedness was what resulted in the killing of mohammed yusuf, b4 boko haram went wild. We cannot be putting out fire in one part of the country and watching some unpatriotic policemen start another. Long live the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.

Webmasters › Re: Top 8 Problems Of Internet Growth In Nigeria by persius555(m): 1:09pm On Aug 19, 2015
Nigerians are generally technology illetrates. A company pays its monthly internet bills but still pays its staff manually, pays its bills manually. We are not properly leveraging on the capabilities which the internet offers. Our reputation on the internet is daily damaged by internet fraudsters (yahoo boys). The future of the internet and ICT lies with the upcoming generation. No clear stance on the direction of broadband penetration as our market is dominated by GSM telcos who buy up every available spectrum. Lastly and most important is the lack of power supply. This is the giant killer. If the govt can double their effort in this regard, then we are in for the internet el dorado.

In nigeria, the dumbest people are the richest, while the smartest are relegated to the bottom of the chain. In other climes, the smartest people with great investment ideas are well supported with grants, loans and aids, while in nigeria you dont get far without some govt official's backing or politically influentials. By now, PMB should know that the alleged negotiation by BH break way is a sham. It's obvious that the NE is undermanned by the available security personnels on ground. For crying out loud, the killings took place 30km from the capital, they destroyed the masts . BH are strategizing on their terror plan, i just hope the army authorities would continue to innovate their counter terrorist strategies.
